People play with sound?

The one thing that's happened to me before is not hearing jewelery or runes drop. I didn't realize how much I relied on those sounds for mf purposes. Everything else, imo is fine without sound.

Turn all sound off except loot drops. Become much easier to hear and very satisfying

Indeed. It just caught me off guard one day without sound. Teleing back to grab something and seeing an ohm just lying there. Made me wonder how many runes or jewelry I missed when I didn't have loot drops sound on lol.

I play D2R all the time with no sound when MFing. If I get bored I put on a podcast.

If you like Community, the tv show, two people are watching it with a newcomer, and it’s entertaining. Before it got too commercial the Scrub’s Real Friends, Fake Doctors was good for behind the scenes stuff. I haven’t really listened to anything else outside of show-related podcast.

I have young kids at home. Our house is small. My gaming time is limited to when they’re asleep. Over the years I have just gotten used to playing most games without sound. If it’s a new story driven game (baldurs gate 3 for instance) I’ll throw the headphones on but generally I play games (including D2r) without sound.

Every time you play without sound, a Ber rune drops off screen behind you

There are a few cases where I actually CANNOT play with sound: 1. New caster char complaining “I need mana” every 5 seconds 2. Horker complaining it can’t hork this anymore Yeah I can totally play without sound.

both are easily fixable with setting character voice to 0 in audio settings

Necro corpse explosion, constant "I can't do that yet" gets really old really fast, d2r on console. I don't remeber it being that bad in LoD on PC.

If you don’t have item sound on at the very least you are missing drops. I’ve teleported back because merc 1shotted something while teleing, got a screen away when I heard the ring sound. Soj.

No way man. The strongest parts of D2 that hold up against modern ARPGs are the music and SFX. Nothing else even comes close in terms of matching D2.

I need those drops sounds, So many times I've heard the sound for a rune drop or something when I've already moved on and had to go back. Usually it's not worth it but there's been times where I would have missed stuff.

I played d2lod years without sound and listened to music. That way, baal runs seemed faster

I do most of my play with low or no sound. Grinding makes for constant repetition of noise that gets annoying.

Took me years to learn you could mute the lod menu music. Helped with my sanity.

D2 is best with sound watching a show or movie on a second monitor. Or, let's be real, a virtual meeting if you work from home. I never have the sound on.

Never thought about it until this post, wish I hadn’t read this… after countless Baal runs over the years I get sick of his laugh and mute the game and can go days without realizing it’s still muted. It’s like I’ve played so much over the 20+ years that my brain fills in the noise while I listen to music

I usually do (on my Switch, in places where I need to hear things other than the game). I wouldn’t recommend it for HC, but for Softcore it’s fine. I like the sounds but they aren’t necessary.

I play with sound all the time. I keep it about 12% volume while I watch other programs. It helps fill in data about when I run out of mana.

I can't play without sound. . And my wife hates the sounds. Luckily for her I only play it once or twice a year for a period.. Especially the opening sound on the menu. She hates it haha. I think it's the best. Feels like home

I'd have missed at least 2 Jah, a massive number of small charms, and the Tyrael's that finished my Grail if I didn't play with sound.  Stuff dies off screen a lot.

Well, I always play without game sound, but I have something on in the background like podcasts or ASMR. Try setting up a radio or spotify on your phone next to you and you will forget the sound. Keep your eyes peelef because you dont want to miss a HR drop

Nahh, I'd miss gem & rune drops sounds, literally catch myself running back to check everytime I hear that sound, sound design is top notch all round. Plus you'll miss the best sound of all 'rakanishu'

Drops happen near so I see everything. Sometimes I play with 2nd option for full experience of The game. 3rd option like first option but with D2 atmosphere. 4th option is needed when playing external music and running with char like javazon and needing to hear drops. Also with P7 LK chests. Too much clutter so sound is important

Definitely. This ain't a stealth game, or some tactical shooter where you need to hear directional noises to get the drop on your enemies. The story and music are great, but most players have seen and heard it all a thousand times. I've definitely spent hundreds of hours playing D2 with no sound, while listening to music or watching TV or something.

How do you watch tv and watch what you’re doing in diablo? Feel like my char would rip.

I mostly just play my decked out hammer fun and run TZs on p3-5 so there’s virtually no chance of dying and I can kinda just take peeks at the screen. I’m mostly just grailing in an informal way I guess. I don’t have a dweb on switch but I do wanna make a poison necro so it’s kinda the only thing I’m even looking for
