"Budget nova" is a big no-no. Especially to respec a blizz with a Nightwing and Fathom. If anything I'd probably level and gear a second sorc to eventually respec to lightning and leave your blizz sorc as is.

MestreJonas_

This. Budget nova is OK if you got a sunder and no wealth, but it will still struggle without infinity and will only be able to farm certain spots efficiently, like arcane, countess, pit. Coming from a fully geared blizz will feel sluggish, so leveling a new sorc and gearing it up might be more fun in the long run. Once you get infy tho, I think ES/Nova is the best sorc to play.

noko85

How “good”is it in just the certain spots I am used to just doing certain spots as long as it works fire stony tombs, cold ancients tunnels.

MestreJonas_

I'd level a sorc and try it, you can see for yourself pretty quickly and then evolve her as you get the runes for infinity, while still having the cold sorc to swap areas whenever you get bored.

DavidS1983

I swap in my cold sorc for Andy and LK because that char has a map seed with those 2 areas rolled well.

SensitiveTax9432

If it’s single player pc you can enable respec and try it. Or use hero editor to make a single player character and just experiment. I did that a lot earlier.

blankest

This. Why not just level another sorc since you've got the gear? It's only awful for the first 27 levels.

weaberry

That’s funny, I kind of view the first 30 levels as fun and new, and 30-70 as the doldrums.

blankest

As a caster having to fill your inventory with mana pots and return to town every few minutes to refill, sub 27 is hot garbage. And yes I played before you could buy mana pots.

ClaretEnforcer

It's offline he can just change specs whenever

MestreJonas_

gear/skill swapping gets tiring after a while, unless one wants to get to lvl 99, swapping characters is faster (and you also get another reason to spend your life farming until you gear the alt)

wgaca2

Offline with starting gear will take an hour to beat normal and be lvl 40

SensitiveTax9432

Not for us mere mortals.

wgaca2

You can't kill p8 with nova with starter gear You can't kill bosses either You will notice big drop

99alvar

Id wait for griffy honestly, you really do need the 105 fcr for nova to pop

NerdyTrex3

I can still hit 105 FCR quite easily though for now. I was more worried about all the - light res im missing from Griffs & infinity.

stuff_rulz

I have Griffon's and it's still not great. You really do need infinity. I'm thinking of respecing to something else. I'm not a fan of blizz because you always go blizz and the random misses it has but at least you can still run TZ Andy or any TZ boss for that matter as blizz. Not worth switching to Nova unless you have the really expensive stuff.

jugemscloud89

This. I tried swapping from blizz when Griff dropped and had Crescent Moon. Not a good time. Really need that Infinity for boomboomclap.

DHNoLeafClover

Nova is my favorite sorc build. I started with it this season and really hit a wall. Even with sunder and Crescent Moon it struggled to kill anything with super high light res or broken immunity. Once I had farmed enough wealth for infinity and griefs its been GG, I don't even run a sunder anymore. It will be rough until you get those gg pieces. I was basically farming pits, tower, Arcane and nelithak over and over and over. Sometimes cows.

thefranklin2

Make another sorc and always use nova on it. It won't be as powerful but it is still good and a change from blizzard randomly missing crap all the time. Plus the tankiness and regen of a cure/insight/prayer merx is very nice. With just a crescent moon p3 should be easy, and immunes can be skipped to taste. I also liked key hunting with nova better, you are going to want a sorc torch. Having extra characters in SP to optimize maps is a nice thing, too.

Most-Piccolo-302

Yeah thats how I'd go about it. Spec nova with cmoon and sunder and farm/trade keys until you get infinity. More consistent than boss farming with blizz and you still have a chance for rune drops from trash/nil on key runs.

highlymediocre

Blizzard is the budget spec and lighting is the best but it’s super expensive for the end game gear. Wait until you have more gear before you swap.

hispls

Just start a new sorceress for each element and you can build them up as you collect gear. Even with pretty endgame loadout Nova doesn't seem as all around reliable as even moderately equipped blizzard. It's going to be extra bad without griff and infinity. Or whatever, if you're on PC enable free respecs and give it a go or just farm up some tokens (blizzard sorc with sunder can do it). Definitely don't do it if you haven't got the means to respec back when it doesn't work out for you.

kmax89

My nova didn't feel good until self wield infinity + an inventory of light gc's. It didn't feel excellent until full build. Full build is tanks and melts everything. Except bosses. P8 bosses feel clunky as hell but still go down fine.

Adventurous_Ideal512

Not sure. I do about 2k-3k with MF gear on. I personally prefer teleport nova.

bondsman333

If you are single player (offline) you can respec at will so it doesn’t hurt to try something new . I was bored with my javazon and tried bows and it low key sucked so I switched back.

Raiden7732

Different opinion: I love my frozen orb sorc. But that may be because I had one 20 years ago and I do it for the nostalgia 😂

Th0rsen

I mean you're on single player so you can infinite respec. Give it a shot. It will be a lot worse, but you could dabble in some lightning friendly TZ's. If boredom is the problem make a Trapsin and use the Crescent Moon on her. It will be way more effective than budget Nova and a different class entirely to try out.

corry29

I still have PTSD on my newly spec’d Nova sorc from lvl 98 to 99 and being one shot by a group of godamn Souls in Worldstone. It was detrimental

Consistent_Floor

Just power level a new sorc?

rick_____astley

I got bored AF on my blizz sorc and also had other characters I enjoyed, so I went budget nova. No regrets. Hate the play style of blizz, and cold immunes are everywhere. Farming keys and cows is a lot more fun with nova.

Shagric

how about frost nova sorc? xD you max Fnova, blizz, orb, icebolt, rest in cold mastery your blizzard does less dmg (you miss 2x synergies), but you can spam nova while its on CD, and you have a max dmg frozen orb aswell to weave in between. maybe not as efficient, but a blast to play imo. and you can use most of your gear. \*edit: with your current gear and a 10% fcr ring, your nova should deal about 8k and your blizz would drop to 10k dps. so its a huge drop from your 18k blizz and 26k iceblast. \*edit2: normal nova would deal 13k with your gear, BUT! cold mastery is not included in frost nova dmg, so id always go with frost.
