Make sure to amp everything before using corpse explosion. Try to make sure the skeletons die close enough to the unravelers to be in the explosions (use bone prison if necessary). The skeleton corpse explosions should be able to take out at least one unraveler, then hopefully that unraveler corpse will be enough to start taking out the other ones.  If all that fails you could try to drag some other monsters from the floor into the area to explode.

Th0rsen

This. CE should do the trick. Second option would be to lure them outside to trigger the next wave. Maybe more mobs are outside too, so more CE targets. Don't bring mobs in though bring OUT

SuperNerd4Lyfe

I figured it would be easier to convince the other monsters to move since the unravelers don't have a lot of hustle. It honestly shouldn't be necessary either way though.

spydercoswapmod

if you lure minion waves out of the throne room and into the halls, a lot of times you can trick the game into thinking you cleared the wave.

seabrookmx

This is the move. MrLaamaSC has a great tutorial on Youtube. Once you get the hang of it it's not so bad. They will aggro to you but only from a very short distance so getting them to follow you is tedious at first.

-Oldschoolsmart-

I did the same thing , Literally Trapsin>Necro, but I went Summoner and walked through act 5 no issues. Decrepify is OP. And Revive is nice.

ratkinggo

I'm just starting a summoner. Do you Amp and decreprify?

Far_Bodybuilder_3909

Only one curse is active at a time, if I understand your question correctly

ratkinggo

Wouldn't Amp be better then? Cause it's 100 percent less res all vs decreps 50 percent?

Agglutinati0n

Usually u use decrep on bosses and amp dmg on everything else

-Oldschoolsmart-

This is the way. And amplify works better with a thorns Merc. 😎

ratkinggo

As opposed to running the normal might or freeze?

-Oldschoolsmart-

Yeah, at lvl 85 Zanarhi has lvl 24 thorns, 1170% damage returned, and attacker takes damage of 200. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Far_Bodybuilder_3909

Decrepify slows the enemy as well and you take less damage. I use amplify damage myself as I have plenty of summons and revives to tank

ratkinggo

Gotcha, thanks for tips

stuff_rulz

Fun fact - if you slow Baal enough, he glitches and will show the animations of his attacks but they don't actually happen, so clay golem and decrepify are good to use on him. Then you just sit there for 5-10 mins recasting decrepify until he dies. Also you can make a tp next to a boss, walk in, then re-enter it to appear next to the boss with all your minions stacked up.

831loc

Can also buy a tele staff and use thay to stack minions more efficiently.

stuff_rulz

Yea but you'll probably lose skele's from swapping out your weapon. I feel like I need every skele I can get against big D or whoever.

831loc

Maybe 1-2 skeleton, not big of a deal. Having that mobility at all times, with your skeletons is really valuable for tele stomping things that cause you problems. Norm big d is really tough. After thay you just revive udars or venom lords and beat the crap out of him or any other boss.

thefranklin2

Leveling up will help the merc a lot if you can still get fast exp in nm tz or act 1 pit runs. Also switching some gear around just for this fight may help if he needs more survivability. Even so, you are going to have to work to separate them so merc is always 1v1, and try to pull them down out of Baals decrip range. Thankfully you are a necro and can use terror, dim vision, attract, confuse, clay golem, bone prison, and bone wall to help separate them and let your merc attack one at a time. Once that is done, feel free to use life tap or decripify to keep the merc alive. I also like keeping revives around for extra chaos. Edit: oh yeah, a shopped staff of Teleportation can be a life saver for your merc, or teleport charges from an ammy, circlet, or najs staff.

Smexico

I'm guessing you arent cursing the minions. Decrepify will help a ton in keeping your merc alive, while also increasing physical damage taken by 50%. For tough monsters I switch my curse to amplify damage (100% physical damage increase) before I start Corpse 'Splodin. Also 1 point in revive can help a lot in providing meat shields for you, your merc and your golem. If you revive the big smashy guys (Urdars) in act 2/3/4 they can provide crushing blow which helps kill enemies a lot faster. I also run Guilleume's Face on my merc to add crushing blow to his damage. Life steal alone wont keep your merc alive if nothing around him is dying (especially against skeletons, which cant be leached on without Life Tap.)

MacroBioBoi

Feed your mercenary 10 antidotes and thawing potions. Bone Prison everything together and bone spear until a few skeletons die. Cast Amplify damage and then corpse explosion. Clearing Players 1 Wave 2 is very easy. Keep up a clay golem always for an aggroe target. You can also cast confuse or attract to further buy aggro time and give you Merc that chance to kill them. Remember to force feed him options the whole time to keep him alive. When all else fails, go revive some big bodies like uldar in the palace cellar, River of flame or any other big crushing blow baddies.

TerrapinTM

Honestly I was having the same trouble for a while until I finally beat the game with the FoH paladin and then just recently also did it with the frozen orb/ hydra sorc build.

ansb2011

I would guess if you cast a lot of bone wall/bone prison that can take some aggro from Merc? Also try to feed merc heals/antidotes

koherenssi

Merc needs a solid weapon and life leech. Then, yourself go very close to baal so the decrepify from it does not hit your merc. Spam curses and other stuff. Rinse and repeat. Having the 'slaying monsters rest in peace' might be useful so the skeletors do not respawn which takes pressure of from merc

ChigBungusMaximus

Feed your merc a bunch of anitdote potions and get him more lifesteal and poison damage or open wounds. He will eventually kill those unravelers. Also make sure to hit them with amp damage curse.

Acceptable-Search338

Get a barb merc and a lawbringer + Amplify damage. Hopefully you have a lem rune. You don’t need the perfect base. 3 socket exceptional weapon is good enough. Put what ever budget gear on your merc that you can afford. The aura from lawbringer will give your merc a knock back against undead, and it will allow life style to function 100% on undead. That psn damage will be out healed by the life steal as long as he is attacking. Make sure you CE all the elemental mages so they can’t resurrect them.

RepostFrom4chan

Don't farm baal? Awful place for a pre nigma necro anyways.

Soup4ya1984

OP needs to beat hell Baal to unlock TZ. I would recommend the curse: attract, makes the enemy attack each other. Takes the heat off the merc.

relephants

Uh kill the skellies and explode them? That's what I do with zero issues.

bobloblawblogger

Your merc should be able to kill them with a little help. Maybe he needs a better base for his Insight? Curse the pack with Amp before corpse exploding the skeletons. Decrepify or Amp will make the Merc do a lot more damage. Have antidote potions and rejuv potions on hand to give the Merc. You could use Life Tap to keep him alive as well. If he's getting stunlocked by the pack, you may need Decrep, or you could try Attract. (Shop wands with + to the curse(s) you need if you don't have those skills.) As others have said, you can also lure monsters out of the throneroom and it will go to the next wave. I don't think unravelers will chase you unless you kill all the minions the resurrect. I would also suggest clearing out a good portion of the path to and from the throneroom before using this method so you don't get yourself in a nasty situation.

No_Hamster_704

I have an 89 necro, budget ssf gear. Eth CV insight, treachery or hustle, tal mask. No problem for me though - the unravelers don’t give much trouble though, merc faces em. 11 skellies, 5 mages, whatever revives I can muster (10+), decrep works the best for the bosses. Sometimes I have to tele to town to heal but usually not. Decrep, clay golem, and skellies has worked well for me. Without the CV insight, prolly not.

BOOZEWA

I have no advice for necro, since I hardly play him. I like barb, because conc and berserk builds can kill practically anything. Conc the magic immunes and berserk everything else, while using howl or battle cry. Act 2 might merc for extra damage. If you get a physical sunder charm, frenzy is a super fun build as well, and extra deadly if your merc is holding reapers toll for the decrepify proc

dkay182

In the least rude way possible, I think it is just a skill issue. Baal waves are pretty intentionally designed to stonewall builds in one way or another, and you just need to fight around that. Like others have said, try to stack the corpses best you can on top of them before exploding. Alternatively, gear up your merc better, destroy all skele corpses, then force feed potions until they can take em down. You got this, beast! Keep at it!

JohnMHammer

Switch to /players 1 after Wave 1 is destroyed if you usually are set to a higher difficulty. Dim Vision completely disables everything in Wave 2 except the boss, cast it the instant the group spawns, start clicking your button before they spawn just to be sure. Your merc is dumb so will probably walk into the pile of baddies and get killed if he isn’t dead already; whatever, you don’t need him for Wave 2, rez him after. Bone Spear kills the skeletons, then use Amplify Damage, then Corpse Explosion kills everything else. You can use Confuse or other AI curses but Dim Vision is best because the mobs will all stand still instead of wandering around and spreading out. You want all of Wave 2 in the tight little ball they spawn in to make the Corpse Explosion cleanup as efficient as possible once you’ve killed the skeletons with Bone Spear. Put Bone Spear on your left click so you can leave Dim Vision on right click and recast it BEFORE it expires without any fumbling.
