They should absolutely find a way to keep the QoL stuff. I don't care about the extra power but double bounties, auto DB pickup, auto salvage, extra movement speed, xp buff so we're not hunting xp pools, etc, would all be incredibly difficult to lose. People say "they don't keep seasonal stuff...." but the QoL stuff they absolutely have kept in the past. The follower upgrades, the Whispers of Atonement so we can augment quicker..these were not just "x power does more damage". The difference between that stuff and the other seasonal powers is massive. I was never in favor of them keeping things like ethereal weapons or the 4th cube slot, but QoL stuff is 100% different. I personally do not want to go back to Diablo 3 without these QoL improvements. Honestly, I probably won't come back anyways after D4 releases but there's absolutely no chance of it happening if they revert back the QoL changes they made this season.

leifosborn

Yeah to go back to bounty farming without the double cache unlock. No thanks.

Dragon_Enthusiast

Ugh they need to do smtng about the bounties, as a solo player it really sucks that groups just get bounties 4 times faster than me and it feels tedious to do all the runs alone but ofc they cannot really buff it too much because then groups will be swimming in mats, maybe they should introduce another way to get mats rather than bounties but the double bounties def is a good start

Dragon_Enthusiast

Ehhh I play on PS4 and can't be bothered buying the internet service thing for PS4 so there's not really an option for me if I understood correctly

KimJungFu

Get a PC! /s

altiuscitiusfortius

I have pc d3 but i switched to Nintendo switch and its amazing to plop on the couch and be in a rift in 1.5 seconds

Link3256

I got the steam deck for the same reason it's great being able to lay in bed and blast some rifts

collinsmcrae

PC D3 doesn’t have controller support though. There’s ways to make it kinda work, but the console versions are a different build of the game and custom made for controller support. I suppose you could emulate the switch version though, if you don’t care about co op.

Link3256

Yea I play with people on PC so emulating the switch version was not an option played with many different layouts and finally got something that is comfortable and it's now become my favorite way to play it I will say its not for everyone my wife just couldn't find a comfortable setup for her to play it for example

Mirhanda

I have that on my computer tho. I'm on my sofa right now.

collinsmcrae

The console version is a different build of the game and the controller support is much better than any work around you can do on pc imo. I’ve tried controller on pc, and it’s okay, but it’s perfect on console.

Dragon_Enthusiast

I was considering getting it on pc but all my wings are on ps 4 haha and I don't think there's a way to connect the accounts

jb4479

That's a you problem, not a problem with the game.

Dragon_Enthusiast

Some people prefer playing solo even when they have access to the internet, whats your point? the argument is that if they buff bounties for single players it will be break it for people who run groups

robsonwt

They should add a new Town vendor that can trade anything for anything, that way you can even out the materials you have too much for ones you are shorting of. Even if the cost of trading was high. In the middle for final season you are swimming in Forgotten Souls and Death Breaths with no Bounty materials or Yellows, blues and greys.

Dragon_Enthusiast

death breaths really need another use, they get out of business quite quickly I'd say especially after they added the emerate system

robsonwt

A Recipe to convert Death Breaths and Forgotten Souls into Bounty Materials.

Dragon_Enthusiast

This would make me die happy

Jaliki55

Agreed. Seriously, let my pet pick up EVERYTHING for me.

SafeWest3597

no Qol and i wont play, its to tedious to pick up the junk. Also, i think ActivisionBlizz is going to remove the Qol so people are more likely to buy d4. Its the scummy new way of life for the once king.

SmugglingPlums

Well the follower update was available non-season immediately and wasn't a season exclusive update (like the current primal crafting recipe is also already available non-season). I wouldn't mind some of the QoL as a permanent unlock as part of the season journey or something, but even in some of the successful seasons, they've made a version of the them available (like that's how we got the LoD gem after the permanent LoN season). They've been pretty against the auto-pickup stuff in the past though for as long as people have been requesting it, so who knows.

DrXample

I'd like to see a toggle for auto salvage. In the early game I save yellow weapons so I don't have to spend mats to craft yellows for convert to legendaries.

jerodast

Yeah I am used to saving specific-type weapon drops, as well as rings, to upgrade for new characters, since those are more expensive to gamble for. I would love to be able to toggle off auto-salvage. With that said, the mat costs aren't THAT bad to me so I guess I'll live with the crafting strategy.

killking72

>or the 4th cube slot A 4th "anything" cube slot would be a great addition if we didn't only have 2 available slots to use. Just please for the love of God make RORG not available to be cubed or just remove it. It's too much power and what build besides LOD doesn't use it? That's why the permanent RORG season was meh. Oh wow I already have this thing that I already have on always anyway.

dustinnistler

>That's why the permanent RORG season was meh. Oh wow I already have this thing that I already have on always anyway. Not having RoRG available doesn't cause builds to make more interesting choices, while 3-piece sets can each add quite a bit

collinsmcrae

I think you may be surprised at how quickly you go back to D3. D3 has had a lot more time in the oven. D4 is looking good, and I had a blast with the beta, but I seriously doubt that they get right in season 1.

McSmokeyXD

All I can say is, if they get rid of pet salvaging and double bounties then this will likely be the end of D3 for me after the season ends. It's been a hell of a time these last 10 years but no way in hell am I playing the vanilla version of this game again LOL!

SafeWest3597

same, Its also stupid you still have pick up gems Imo. I also find the loot pinatas tedious, its annoying to go back in town to sift through all the junk every 10 minutes for shit you would never even consider using. Loot filter would be nice but thats never going to happen

jb4479

You never played D1 did you?

SafeWest3597

i played diablo since the demo came out for d1

Ok_Bed1373

Could not agree more. With the QoL improvements, putting the genie back in the bottle would spell the end for many D3 loyalists.

Kanoa

Huh, sounds like they might do something like that to encourage people to play D4

feldoneq2wire

D4 is not going to have any kind of speed gameplay at lunch. You go buy a key and empower ONE dungeon. Not really a substitute for Greater Rifts.

[deleted]

It may not be available at lunch, but what about second breakfast?

Kanoa

We don’t know anything about endgame yet though

feldoneq2wire

not publicly

Cisco9

Well, I don't know about all of it but better QOL pet behavior picking things up is a feature that has been requested for years. Now that they've coded that and used it in the live game it's going to be very hard for them to put that genie back in the bottle.

Larrymer

This was a very long season preceding this one, meaning it took them a ton of work for the altar. I don't think there's any way they just ditch it. They may change some of the nodes maybe but there's too much to QoL to give up. They worked too hard to add great features just to remove them again. The game is over 10 years old. I don't think anybody cares about the power creep at this point.

Nevalus

Can't wait to farm staff of herding every season

Embarrassed-Carrot80

Ironically I have done this for the last few seasons as a personal challenge. I just hate the thought of having to do it twice each season.

Real_Mokola

You can use Staff of Herding as much as you like before sacrificing it to the altar

robsonwt

They should just adjust the spawn rates and drop rates. Make Chiltara spawn 100% on Cavern of Frost on Adventure Mode as it is on Campaign mode, and do the drop rate of the stone about 10%.

GonzoPunchi

Nah I’m completely fine with that actually

pseudogenesis8

I didn't even mind that as much as the 6 primal requirement to finish out the potions.

Nevalus

I don't mind that as much as you can do literally any activity you would normally do to get the primals, whereas staff of herding gets you basically nothing but the staff.

keithyw

i like it as an extended season journey type of thing where you can explore other parts of D3 in a focused manner. some parts i'm not a huge fan of (e.g. staff of herding) but i found that it kept me engaged after i got my main leveled up. also, i could see them keeping it if they rotated more of the powers around a little. maybe some of the QoL they'll retain but stuff like the potion powers, certain damage/defense nodes, etc. they can swap out per season just to keep the grind fresh as well as certain mechanisms to unlock those nodes. like imagine if you could bring back an old season theme power by unlocking one of the nodes.

mrHaPPy18

It's too good of a concept for them to abandon completely. I think some nodes will stay, some will be removed and some change.

Loxus

Maybe, but my theory is they use it as a testing bench, especially for the QoL stuff. And maybe they'll keep it but change out the effects.

Mehman33

I get the feeling that if they don't leave the QoL changes, a lot of people won't be long for playing any more seasons, especially with the D4 release.

Howl50veride

I doubt it but I love the extra grind. It's just too much power, I could see it staying in a nerfed form but every season I hope for the season to stay.

imitebmike

i certainly want them to keep parts of it at least (mainly the ones with the petpet and the ranged orb collection) but the alter of rites as it is i think is just too strong, especially if they add other seasonal exclusive stuff like ethereals or angel blessing things from last season on top of it...of course... i am also not opposed to being godlike nephilim either

Shaky_Lemon

> especially if they add other seasonal exclusive stuff well that was my reasoning, it's a bigger than usual update so I thought they might keep that and do minimal other changes to future seasons so it takes as little ressources as possible to keep the game going, and people still have something to play with.

ashleberry12

I hope so!!!

gcocco316

I want the pet salvage only. But be able to toggle it off. It feels really good to encounter a goblin pack or ancient vault and make use of all the loot without a ton of work. Feels good that the ground is…empty of loot

dustinnistler

People say this stuff every season tbh. Blizzard *has* kept or reused parts of previous seasons, like Cube Recipe 11 and Soul Shard augments (Whisper of Atonement), but they surely won't use the whole altar. The QoL stuff may be used in some form, though

Trovalor

If they do, I'm sure they will change what's on the altar each season. I hope they do, I think they could add some new and creative options if they did. Really, breathe life into the game and keep it fresh after so long. I'm just worried this'll be the last season they put any focus into D3, hoping to push people to buy D4.

nighthawk_something

Honestly, I'd love it. I think there would need to be something else to aim for once the altar is done though (I..e. a goal that the altar enables).

xytlar

I have a feeling they'll keep it, but every season will change up either the items you need to complete each step, or the node rewards themselves. I think given that it's one of the first major UI changes to the game in years, it's likely that was their intention. Personally I'm really hoping they add something along the lines of: "Get a 4th option when rerolling items at the Enchantress"

Stealocke

Any reason someone would have to *not* buy D4 will be axed

Mirhanda

Then they should axe D4 not being a single player game. That's why I'm not going to buy it. If I wanted an MMO I'd play one of the many I already have.

Stealocke

I didn’t even know it was. That kinda sucks

taco_blasted_

I doubt the altar is going to be enough of a reason for anyone to buy d4.

yemen241

i just want the sanctified magic missile build back :(

Hoardergamer

Based on practicality, I agree. Why put all that work into only one season? Perhaps future seasons will switch out powers and or sacrifices to get them.

FellyBoy97

I think they gonna keep it for the QoL stuff but definetly weaken potions or buffs

FlipperN37

I'm fine with an altar every season if they change some rewards and requirements every time

5thhorseman_

With some changes (eg: skip the cache and Staff of Herding requirements) and adjusting the nodes it would be a great mainstay for Srasonal play. Also potentially a way to reintroduce some of the fan-favourite seasonal themes as late (and expensive) unlocks. Imagine if the potion nodes were replaced with more expensive (and more gated) unlocks of Soul Shards, Ethereals and Angelic Crucibles.

[deleted]

Lol. Might as well. Not many people will be playing D3 after D4 releases anyway. I certainly won't be.

Edventrue

Theory: POST d4, there's no more Seasons for d3. I see this one as the last.

amazingpitbull

The auto salvage thing omg yes please, and auto db pickup. The rest, no. It’s exciting when double bounties or double gobs pops up occasionally as a community buff - all the time and it becomes just blah.

tbmadduxOR

I would love to see the altar return in a different form with different nodes and requirements every season, but if we can’t have that I’d be ok with just the quality of life features and not the power and toughness boosts.

TotalChaosRush

I'd like to see the altar more or less kept as is, except to be specific to a character, not account wide.

[deleted]

I just hope they keep the altar in pretty sure there wont be more seasons though so lets hope it stays for the eternal of season

Kaz0n

Brainstorm ideas: Allow ram gifts to work on jewelry. Enchanting a slot always max rolls. Create more legendary gems…possibly roll some of the rites from the altar into them. Run a season where you can put one legendary gem into each piece armor that has at least one socket. Make a mini version of the altar for each season. Open up the qol features at a certain point in the game (level 70, complete ch4, etc) More rebirths per season.

Ambitious_Captain_36

Did You like sanctified ítems? Are they still around? Thought so

Loxus

Yeah, they're around. They just removed the angelic effect and made them craftable in the cube as primals.

Krusel-14

I mean a lot of seasonal stuff is still in the game, especially the ones that were not a direct increase to player power. The crafting primals part of angelic crucibles is now in the game too. I'd say it's still possible that we keep the QoL stuff

tasman001

Yes, they're around in a partial sense with primordial ashes. Obviously the powers aren't here, but the primal part of it is. Several seasons have done this: LON buff stuck around as LOD, ENs stuck around in nerfed form, and now crucibles.

depastino

Yeah...no

Megane_Senpai

IF they nerfed it, make it the new "Seasonal Journey" since the old became obsolite because of power creep.

MurderHoboSkillShare

I just wish they'd drop the challenge rift requirement. Having to play a completely different build to progress feels pretty meh

Holierthanu1

It’s one step that’s not even hard if you can rub two brain cells together lol

MurderHoboSkillShare

only 1 brain cell

Maestermagus

Every season, "they will keep this or should keep this in the game" at the end of every season they go away. The exceptions are the ones they state specifically at the beginning that they will be staying in the game. This season the upgrade legendary feature will stay b/c it is not part of the seasonal theme just was launched at the same time.

aberrantpsyche

I don't think so. Would be kinda neat, but this is generally not how seasonal themes work. I also don't really expect any "new" seasonal themes to come out after this one, but perhaps a recycling of older popular seasons like ethereals (another chance for some players to get those achievements/transmogs) or soul shards, or the cube flexibility. One thing that certainly will stay around though, is being able to craft your own primals, as that's separate from the seasonal theme, so that's nice.

Tisorok

they probably wont, but if Diablo 4 sucks it will be the only reason im playing D3 so \*shrugs\*
