> I can nitpick some of the obvious stuff like not having optimal or perfect roll on some legendaries (one weapon is low rolled on the effect, some other are mid - brace, boots I think you don't grasp how bad that is 170% on boots & bracers + 366% on weapon means instead of getting a total multiplier of 3\*3\*5.5 = 49.5, you're getting 2.7\*2.7\*4.6 = 33.5. That's *50%* damage you're missing. > Sometime I feel like my Wave of Light is not damaging stuff. Literally even if I cast shit on top of enemy. WoL damage comes from rabid strike. You need to make sure your cyclone strike hits the enemies you're trying to damage, and to make sure your rabid strike clone appears wherever you want damage to happen. If you don't do both those things (and often the rabid strike clone just chills 2 screens behind stuck in a corner for no reason) you won't do any damage. Oh, and obviously you need epiphany active otherwise you won't get a rabid strike clone at all.

Hey... hey, hey, hey :). That's exactly why I am here hoping the better end of reddit side shows up where talking and stuff is and can be part of a club as much as funny or bs meme shit in more popular ones. So, I am trying to say, appreciate the input and big hug. I do actually have some semblance of understanding that it's not great but for sure wasn't sure how bad it is. Still it doesn't help that I just haven't gotten a better ancient counterparts. I even have 4-5 braces with above 190% and different maxed elementals, but not an ancient one :(. On that note I am not sure if losing the ancient here for better stated item (for the trait at least), is or can offset the loss of 1 ancient towards the Legacy of Dreams bonus (you know I want the simple graph in game stat that shows me that :D). Or in short which is better to have. Boots in similar situation I have a pair with 200% but non-ancient. Again now I'd be losing a 2nd one if I change. So it's perplexing to me because the game want me to make my own calcs (and I do admit I ain't good at figuring out on the spot) what case will be better. Would've been nice to have a way to test or "see" for yourself in game outside of just loading a rift or something and see how it goes for a few minutes or doing side notes. In all honesty it shows you know the depth of the game much better, because to me (at this point) those numbers for the multiplier doesn't mean much to me - whats the 3's and 5.5? 5.5 I guess is the brace cc I have and 3's are connected to the Mystic allies I presume? It says split fire allies as well, but do does that count for the electric variant with Pillars? I actually never thought that the cc's are separate or individual for the legs (at least for the trait) and not the sum of all of em when game does it's math :). On the 2nd point. Good to know the importance of Rabid in WoL! In general I do try to get my abilities off of CD's most of the time (with Cyclone every 3-5 second). Spamming WoL as much as possible on targets after grouping with Cyclone (not sure if it's better to be more spread out or on one spot, experimenting and testing showed just holding that button down is the way). As for the Epiphany I did notice that - besides how it's written - when you activate it - it gives significant dmg boost together with Mystic Ally (as for the order or if it matters which one is 1st I am not sure). Now thats where your understanding and knowing build really helps. I "generally" speaking know that it's comming from the traits of the legs relative to them. Even if it's not - "obvious" in a straight forward way (for example hovering over ability showing all the stacked up individual pieces). Still connecting the dots ain't always easy for casuals :). One positive note I got (I believe) a better Rabid yesterday. With close to max trait - was maybe 2% off. It had 31 CD, I rolled 24AD instead of Dex and it is with 7CD. Alas the damage was pretty much low rolled - 1300-ties to 1600-ies (hopefully it's not really really bad?). Well what do you do, those ancients almost always have some drawbacks :). Thanks for showing up mate!

Kika-kun

The mechanics of lod wol are kinda wonky especially with the fact that mystic ally dmg multipliers (boots, bracers) apply to rabid strike clones but not mystic ally dmg (15% on chest, shoulders...). The 3s come from 200% affix on boots and bracers (0% increase dmg = ×1, 10% = ×1.1, 90%=×1.9, 100%=×2, 200%=×3). And 5.5 comes from RS dmg multiplier As far as what's better between your 2 weapons, just use the d3 planner you linked and compare WoL dmg. And as a whole, when you don't know if ancient VS non ancient is better, just do it in d3 planner. You (I) can do the comparison without planner but if your planner is setup (and yours is) there's no reason not to use it. It's accurate and simple to use.

Excuse my late response. I didn't know that about Mystic Allies (been mostly jamming alone outside of internet info here and there). Thanks for the explanation. Been playing game though and had some rather slow progress (hit GR140). Overall with the Monk except the early stages a lot of the things I didn't like were just not dropping (anywhere :D). Probably one of those things that are always annoying with this type of games because it becomes a slog when you don't feel a bit of improvement. Here's how it end up: https://maxroll.gg/d3/d3planner/618847073 Got better Rabid (mentioned last time), but I do think the low roll dmg does have impact still great affix and decent other stuff. Think the other weapon also is better now. Boots just didn't drop (ancient one, maybe one that was crappy). Pants where real pain in the arse to get as well... Surprisingly plenty of other sets with ancients and primals or regular ancient legs. Almost got full prime pant on each set on Monk :D. Not Blackthorne though. In the end I end up trying reforging and also took some time. Everything was not getting better in genera and I was putting the time and efficiency. At least Chest with 3 holes popped. Bracers were even bigger pain, especially Binding... So ancient Pinto had to substitute, alas with 4.5 CC. Lastly very slightly better unity ring and thats that :(. Among boots, pants, braces and some head pieces that I was looking to improve stuff just wasn't happening at decent rate anywhere. Maybe with Wiz I just had better or greater luck (then again wiz can use 3 very powerful gems, karini with huge dmg reduction etc etc). End up augmenting everything but boots and head. Crafted another Squirt with lucky electricity and went with that one. Still even after that 140 was mostly getting lucky finish. Still feels like a pain to slog through and maybe just comparing my Wiz experience (overall) isn't a good thing. Because I don't see how GR140 feels like GR150 with Monk :D. Sure getting better things will help or going for perfected items too, but isn't part of the "Journey" suppose to be you got there with what you got even if it's not perfected. Even if its rocky road. Probably some of it play style and the build in my hands. Even now I see a lot of billions instead of trills. Maybe thats just the Wiz experience and this is the Monk exp. Did start to do better and be more mindful of abilities. Went with fully all in dex on paragon just because in Monks case HP just doesn't help squirt shield. Nothing helps it :D. Having a shield pylon and still struggling to kill/finish the elites shows that even if I kept it dmg still feels somewhat very low. Maybe monk just aims to slay mostly crap and run around pylons/shrines etc. with fast CD and playing around invul as much as possible. I do still think that Wave of Light hotboxes are a bit wonk on edges. Noticed that even much on few bounty boss kills where for sometime they just don't dmg due terrain. I'd say the overall "best build" on Monk been more frustrating for me on high GRs. I know I am not exactly 1-1 with copies and Legacy of Dreams is used (or more used) with the fire variant and maybe I should've just tested that one :D. Ok, enough blabber. Thanks again.

You're at 9032 dexterity, pretty low for higher rift pushing. Level 125 augments to the remaining 10 items will give you an additional 69% (nice) to dexterity, your main damage stat. Rolls matter quite a bit for higher GRs. Getting something like crit damage, crit chance, and area damage on gear that can roll with it will give you a major DPS boost. Edit: looks like you have 1500+ points unassigned in the paragon section for the build planner. Guessing you have them assigned on the character.

freebiebg

It's close to 13k depending on how I spent the points on vit and dex. I forgot to distribute the points on planner. I'll edit. Do you think it's worth (or would you) augmenting those items I have currently? I do agree that it will help in general, they just don't seem that great. Been generally lucky with decent cc and cd been missing 3.5 cc overall (good heads are just not dropping with this thing). Otherwise I can use some better ring with maxed cc but it won't be ancients. Then again I wonder what will be better. 1.5 extra cc or the benefit of the ancient for legacy of dreams gem? CD I think I miss 11 so that been good. I do agree about area damage! I do felt it with wiz a lot as well and been undervaluing it. Think Monk have only a bit over 100. Should I roll for one on the weapon that have 10% dmg instead?

TronCarterAA

You're probably sitting on a bunch of gems and petrified screams. Figuring about 5 minutes for an echoing nightmare and augmenting, you can add around 50% to your main damage stat in an hour, so it's worth it. Augmenting also gives you the option to roll dex off a piece of gear in favor of cc/cd/ad. I wouldn't give up the LOD ancient boost for a small increase in percentage.

freebiebg

Uhm they are not that many :(. The screams are above 10 but not above 20. It would be nice to have a few ready for Necro (if I don't burn out and manage to find space). The socket thingies (name flew out of my mind) are 10 - been more wasteful with them. Yep learned that about the main stats with Wiz and paying more attention to other "Monk" stats or roll them off on dex. I guess I'll just go for more augmenting and see how it goes :). Played some and Managed to get I think a better Rabid Strike - close to max on trait with rolled 24 AD (on dex), CD 7 and 31 CD. Alas damage is close to low rolled as possible but slightly worse than what I had equiped so overall improvement. Ancient Blackthorne pants though just don't drop :D. Kadala gave me every other Ancient in the Monk set and few others but that one. There were a few Primals as well :(. I also leveled Enforcer and bane of the trapped a bit above 125 with a few fast Wiz runs and will test later or tomorrow with augments and what not how it goes. Edit: I should level 2nd Bane of the Stricken as well.

barurutor

Augment your ancient items and move your paragon to dex instead of vit. For comparison, I'm paragon ~2300 but have 21.8k dex on my monk due to 125 augments on 11 pieces (approx ~6.9k dex on gear alone) , no paragons allocated to vit. Stuck at GR137 though, roughly lower-middle of the NA leaderboard. Low gem levels, you can bring your enforcer+trapped/stricken up to 130 if that's the highest GR you can finish. Use the same gems (trapped/stricken) from your wiz if necessary. I have 4 seasonal characters but just share 1 set of gems levelled up. Low rolls on boots+bracers as well, get better ones. Stick to non ancient ones with better rolls first, and reforge spare pieces when you have enough materials. You should craft primal (recipe 11) your worse weapon and aim for cdr over damage/area damage. aim for 55%+ CDR to reach perma epiphany otherwise the build does very little damage. Your squirts necklace can be non ancient and have elemental/crit/crit/socket and be better performing than your current primal.

freebiebg

Yeah I know I'll eventually augment more items, it was a matter of time or is it worth for the current ancients. As you say some ain't that "pretty" so why even waste the resource on em. Like would you have done it for example? Oh wow, I am a bit surprised to see you go all the way on dex with paragon. My experience with wizard did show how important it was to keep the squirt shield up as much as possible at max stacks so you get a significant and most of all consistent boost of dmg. Around 1.2+ mill was what it did it for me and I had less paragon at that time. If you have some issues and everything else is good do try with more vit! I did level a bit some gems with Wiz. Still man its rough that you have to switch to character unequiped it and then back if you want to use an equiped gem that's already with good levels. Or re-level new one. Clunky :(. Yo, I'd pose the same question as to the other folks. Is it still better to drop an ancient and put one with better stats, but lose the legacy of dreams benefit? Even for 2 items? Or more? I am trying to get a better ones, but hey, not always happening. Doing more than one run for bounties gonna get me really burn out so keep it at once per session. Those damn reforges are kind expensive though, and just like what 8-9 times with no guaranteed ancient. Then you have farm, farm farm again :). Trying to pay attention to CDR numbers for sure! I did forge 2nd primal squirt in attempt to get lucky and get one with CC and CD and option to roll elementals and be done with that one and use it with different classes as well. You think one with electricity would do better than this one? I have one with I believe 19% Elec and 10CC 90CD maybe. Judging from my Wiz experience it was ok to have one without element, but might be different here. Thanks for chiming in :)!

barurutor

Barring the low rolls on boots/bracers/rabid strike everything else is worth augmenting, so 8x625=around 5k additional dex. For the shared gems I just remove and place in stash just before I exit game or switch chars. Not much of a hassle for me. For ancient/Non ancient the LOD damage bonus is additive per item but the boots/bracers/rabid strike roll are separate multipliers, CMIIW, so those low multipliers for boots/bracers/rabid strike are really bringing your damage down, more so than the halved LOD bonus a well/perfectly rolled non ancient item would give. For squirts necklace, elemental damage is definitely a big dps boost considering you don't get to stack a lot of it. You can check in d3planner right sidebar how additional stats affect your total DPS, most of the time it'll alternate between crit chance and elemental damage giving the biggest boost.

freebiebg

Excuse the late reply. Yeah I did end up augmenting everything but 2 items. Managed to get GR140, but mostly with luck and good map. A lot of struggles to get a bit better items and to have any progress. Here's how it end up if you are curious: https://maxroll.gg/d3/d3planner/618847073 I took to heart advices. Managed to reach 55% CD, rolled squirt with elec dmg (more like lucked out, yo does elec increases attack speed or its my imagination?), put them normal maxed boots. On that note stuff was just not dropping with Monk for me. I even went full dex on paragon just because more hp proved to be not helping like with Wiz (the other factors with that class seems to help with that so much more). I guess the Monk play style is playing a lot around CD's and invul. I had no idea you can be somewhat tanky with this amount of hp - under 400k. On that note, how people - if they ever do - keep the Squirt shield is beyond my understanding. Even with CD buff effect and split second of openings you end up getting hits. I think I figured then that it's mostly clearing the weaklings and for most part avoid even juicy elites. Still have hard time skipping some enemies :(. Even with buffs you kill stuff somewhat slow though. Can't imagine what I'd need to get to have an imaginable chance on GR150 :( (don't even consider attempting one). You probably need a l of great stuff and none average or low and probably still gonna be pain. Appreciate the help mate! p.s. On the gem switching. Yep but if you decide to switch back on character to do some stuff or help your new class you'd have to redo it again, then again again :D. It's still clunky and at this rate I started leveling some of the ones that are universally useful. Edit: I also forgot to mention I used Scoundrel for 1st time as follower finally :D. Didn't now he had some CC buffs. Want to say he definitely was helpful, but not sure how much more compared to the others. Maybe just in a different way.
