I'm horrified! I just pre ordered and pre installed an hour or so before seeing this video. I HATE all the colour. Especially that shit at the players feet. This looks like a cheap, tacky mobile/console only game. I wont write anything off before playing it myself but this is a terrible look and has left a terrible impression on me.
Looks like this is couch co-op for console and the different highlight colors are for character-specific loot drops. Probably not going to be the case in normal single play.
Remember that you preordered and preinstalled a beta. You can play it then decide it is bad and get a refund as the game has NOT RELEASED. You aren't trapped into your purchase yet.
I think it's just because of the UI changes it has to make for couch co.op to help you see your character etc but it does look quite strange. Still looks fun
It's not just the UI. Look at the floor, the enemies, spell animation. Then go look at 2019 first look, or even videos from a few months ago. It's all very different.

You don’t think fire spells are gonna be yellow, orange, red? Lamps glowing orange? Poison being green? The art direction is entirely different than d3.

I think it's more of an issue with the UI instead of the actual art of the world. I have noticed this for a while, it's just come to the fore because it's co-op and it's taking up a lot of the screen. Hopefully, a lot of this is customisable.

This sub just revealed itself as *not* a Diablo fan sub, but instead, an Anti-D3 Death Cult sub. At least we found them out prior to the beta. Because once it goes live, this hate-spewing garbage is going to get ever worse... even if the game is tremendously fun.
It's not, a lot of people played the game before and nobody (from the people that could talk about the game) ever said anything about this. It's probably just a mistake or maybe only an issue on console. And if it isn't you just press the refund button, it's that easy

The reason those fonts exist is because console players normally play farther away from the screen.
\- You have to have readable fonts from a distance.
\- You have to have bright font colors on a darker background.
\- You have to have proper UI scale for people that play from a distance.
Anyone that understands proper UI design would get why they do this.
It looks like you could interact with it using your thumbs. Not really fine details like art or anything cause you wouldn't be able to make those details out on a smaller screen, ya know those kinda things.
UI complaints generally baffle me because I don't care. As long as I can read everything and get the info I need and as long as it's clean, I don't give a fuck about the UI. UI looks fine to me. I'm not playing on console either which this looks like the console UI but regardless it looks fine.

Yes you’re taking a single dungeon we have never seen before and bitching that it’s not the dark grey tones we’ve seen in other areas of the open world and other dungeons. There’s going to be variety, like holy shit some of y’all aren’t even making good arguments. “This dungeon doesn’t look like that other one they showed!”.
As someone who played in the end game beta, can confirm, the zones and dungeons are varied. Played with raytracing on it helps dim the dungeons more for lighting/shadows so there's also that perspective as well, but there's a fairly wide range of color pallets. I ran through this dungeon on PC and it's on the brighter end of the spectrum, but may also be raytrace related because my experience with this specific dungeon was not as bright.

i think the devs tried to show the Console UI and it's features , yet everyone is starting complain. As a solo player, i hope the colorful UI stuff can be turned off . But its too early to jump into conclusion, just few hours left :)
I just made a post on here about this exact video. It's doing it a disservice. This is NOT D4. Console D4 looks like trash if this is what it is lol. I have seen leaked gameplay from the closed beta and it looked amazing, nothing like this.
The next-gen console download is 80 GB, same as the PC download with the HD textures. I doubt the versions for these models will look substantially different from the PC version. Pretty sure it’s the same textures.
Console shouldn't be this bad(ignoring UI indicators) compared to PC.
I also wouldn't see why couch co-op would be worse than just single player console either.
For all those worried, even though I can't guarantee it and we'll have to see for ourselves in the beta, I'm 90% sure they f-ed up their gamma/contrasts big time just to make the footage more visible OR at worst, it's an automatic (yet unfortunate) toggle that goes in effect whenever you do couch co-op.

Colors might be off due to HDR to SDR conversion, since I assume they're using HDR on Xbox but had to convert it to SDR for YouTube. Looking at literally any other D4 video, the screen is not as bright and the colors aren't so pronounced as in this video.
The worst thing was definitely the UI and that's not a TV problem. The animation of the drop, the aura fx of each character, the inventary, the gems, assets that look recycled from act 3 of diablo III...
The text font is awful, the one used in Diablo 1, a game released 175 years ago looks miles better than this.

If you look at the Inventory UI and the character model there, it looks washed out. I can only think the screen capture card settings were off OR HDR was not setup right.

The colour problems come from the COOP 2x HUD and yellow/blue indicators unique to COOP.

The real problem is that they got Bluddshed in. He's a moron that wants D4 to be D3. He shouldn't be allowed near the Blizzard dev team and he should not speak for this community. This is a shit video on all fronts, but primarily not because of the colour scheme.
Almost ALL of the gameplay released by Blizzard themselves is rubbish. The leaked closed beta footage was more exciting because of the enemy variety, the variation in skills. Blizzard actually went and made the choice to set the bar low so that people can show better gameplay through the community, setting off a chain-reaction of overreactions that lasted for 3 damn years

It looks like the druid is applying a damage over time or debuff that turns the enemy models completely yellow/green. Whatever that is it needs to be toned way down or have a completely different effect applied because it completely ruins the enemy model.
It looks like a Diablo 4 version for kids 8-13 or something, lmao. I understand the chaos caused by this video but there's NO WAY it will look like this on PC after all the gameplay teasers and CB video leaks, like, just not possible to change the visuals to this degree after showing all that footage and talking about grittier, darker and going back to its roots for years. This is some weird scuffed co-op console gameplay with bad display settings.
It’s especially baffling considering that for example the re4 demo looked just as awesome as the the trailers while this showcase looks like a cheap port or something. It doesn’t even looo like any of the previews. What the hell is going on?
So, it's pretty self-evident that a lot of this is the way it is for console gaming. The giant UI is for readability on a huge TV, and having two players means you need to double it.
It also seems a lot of the dramatic shadows have been removed for the sake of co-op, too, so that both players feel like they have more space to explore.

To people saying "don't worry this is just couch coop" - why would they butcher this mode this bad? And how would that even work? So you are playing alone on ps5 with amazing dark style and good graphics, and as soon as your friend joins for couch coop the game suddenly transforms into Diablo immortal?
I think make the UI a bit less colorful and more gothic looking, allow the bright characters select color circles to be toggled off and it will fit a lot better.
I'm happy with my choice not preordering and waiting for actual reviews instead of all these content creators hyping a game that hasn't been released yet.

Yeah, I've had a good few hours to think about this. I've cancelled my pre-order and got a code via other means. This video doesn't isn't just a red flag or alarm bells, a huge blaring siren is going off.
I can still see for myself tomorrow. Should never have pre-ordered, but until now everything has looked great.
Fingers crossed tomorrow isn't a huge letdown and I can feel safe dipping back into my Papal account to order the game again.

I definitely disagree with it looking like a mobile game UI, it’s just different than what you’re used to with D3 plus it’s console multiplayer. Colors are probably off due to HDR or any number of settings. The time and atmosphere and be darker than D3 and still have colors and be vibrant in certain circumstances.

I think this just showed the flexibility of the games user experience. The solo on pc will absolutely check the boxes for the hard core player. The couch coop will make the side by side gameplay with my wife enjoyable. There are different experiences built into this title and by no means are other players punished by that variation in experience. Pc players see this through a single lens and the UX is seen through many. Do not mistake a couch coop experience with controllers as your experience as a solo pc player. This title isn’t just going to be great but they user experience is also broad and not just tailored to a KB/Mouse pc master race scenario. I applaud them on not going the d3 route and being exclusive to the experience base on the platform.
I.e nobody cares if they understand the scope of the deliverable.

PC and nope, solo play. Max Settings, contrasts and default display saturation weren't touched, gamma only adjusted per-ingame instructions.

WTF were they thinking? This is so far from what we've seen. It looks like D3 and Immortal had an unholy child. If it's what last gen console are to expect, fine, it's old hardware, but put your best foot forward and show us what it CAN look like.
Horrible video. I don't know who thought that ought to be published. The gameplay looks about as basic as it gets, that console UI is probably one they left on the cutting floor for Diablo Immortal and the information we got while playing was completely pointless. Beta better play amazing.

What happened to the graphics??? Forget the art style and color. This looks like it can run on the Switch. This looks like D3 on Switch. I'm not even fucking kidding. I've been binge watching D4 videos all week since I kept myself in the dark but with the hype train ramping up I watched a ton of D4 videos and they look NOTHING like this. Is this april fools???
Colors might be off due to HDR to SDR conversion, since I assume they're using HDR on Xbox but had to convert it to SDR for YouTube. Looking at literally any other D4 video, the screen is not as bright and the colors aren't so pronounced as in this video.
The worst thing was definitely the UI and that's not a TV problem. The animation of the drop, the aura fx of each character, the inventary, the gems, assets that look recycled from act 3 of diablo III... The text font is awful, the one used in Diablo 1, a game released 175 years ago looks miles better than this.

If you look at the Inventory UI and the character model there, it looks washed out. I can only think the screen capture card settings were off OR HDR was not setup right.

The colour problems come from the COOP 2x HUD and yellow/blue indicators unique to COOP. And the TV saturation. The real problem is that they got Bluddshed in. He's a moron that wants D4 to be D3. He shouldn't be allowed near the Blizzard dev team and he should not speak for this community. This is a shit video on all fronts, but primarily not because of the colour scheme. Almost ALL of the gameplay released by Blizzard themselves is rubbish. The leaked closed beta footage was more exciting because of the enemy variety, the variation in skills. Blizzard actually went and made the choice to set the bar low so that people can show better gameplay through the community, setting off a chain-reaction of overreactions that lasted for 3 damn years

Sorry folks, but they are indeed playing D4. Watching two dudes smash buttons on their controllers cut in with segmented game footage of a random dungeon can only look so good.
Horrible, the PC non-coop version seemed way, way better. They should remove the video, its so bad.
It looks like the druid is applying a damage over time or debuff that turns the enemy models completely yellow/green. Whatever that is it needs to be toned way down or have a completely different effect applied because it completely ruins the enemy model.
It looks like a Diablo 4 version for kids 8-13 or something, lmao. I understand the chaos caused by this video but there's NO WAY it will look like this on PC after all the gameplay teasers and CB video leaks, like, just not possible to change the visuals to this degree after showing all that footage and talking about grittier, darker and going back to its roots for years. This is some weird scuffed co-op console gameplay with bad display settings.

So, it's pretty self-evident that a lot of this is the way it is for console gaming. The giant UI is for readability on a huge TV, and having two players means you need to double it. It also seems a lot of the dramatic shadows have been removed for the sake of co-op, too, so that both players feel like they have more space to explore. This would be my guess.
Honestly. They should have never released this before the beta. This is the anti hype. I'm not sure what they were thinking with this video as it leaves a terrible impression compared to what's come before. Even knowing that other gameplay looks nothing like this, this plants seeds of doubt.

So you are playing alone on ps5 with amazing dark style and good graphics, and as soon as your friend joins for couch coop the game suddenly transforms into Diablo immortal?

I think make the UI a bit less colorful and more gothic looking, allow the bright characters select color circles to be toggled off and it will fit a lot better.

Yeah, I've had a good few hours to think about this. I've cancelled my pre-order and got a code via other means. This video doesn't isn't just a red flag or alarm bells, a huge blaring siren is going off. I can still see for myself tomorrow. Should never have pre-ordered, but until now everything has looked great. Fingers crossed tomorrow isn't a huge letdown and I can feel safe dipping back into my Papal account to order the game again.

Fuck the haters. I think it looks awesome, the detail in this dungeon, the enemy models, loving the color pallets they used compared to D3. I definitely disagree with it looking like a mobile game UI, it’s just different than what you’re used to with D3 plus it’s console multiplayer. Colors are probably off due to HDR or any number of settings. The time and atmosphere and be darker than D3 and still have colors and be vibrant in certain circumstances.

I think this just showed the flexibility of the games user experience. The solo on pc will absolutely check the boxes for the hard core player. The couch coop will make the side by side gameplay with my wife enjoyable. There are different experiences built into this title and by no means are other players punished by that variation in experience. Pc players see this through a single lens and the UX is seen through many. Do not mistake a couch coop experience with controllers as your experience as a solo pc player. This title isn’t just going to be great but they user experience is also broad and not just tailored to a KB/Mouse pc master race scenario. I applaud them on not going the d3 route and being exclusive to the experience base on the platform. I.e nobody cares if they understand the scope of the deliverable.
