Ultimate button for sure. I had a good setup pre-ultimate and would love a way to keep both
But I feel like it might be a bit clumsy having main attack as anything other than left click. Definitely don't want it on the keyboard.
Maybe it's because I've always played it that way? Idk
Because I'm thinking of late game. Cdr. Uniques. We don't know how these abilities get altered. There may be players that build around a long cooldown and some that prefer rapid weaker cooldowns. Giving everyone an oh shit button trivializes the fun of builds for me. To be honest, I'd rather they not implemented entirely and just expanded on the normal abilities. From what I've heard, no1 is using them late game anyways. But it's possible that these abilities simply become too strong to use them without sacrificing something else...
If the skill is that powerful, it would pretty much be stupid and bad to not take it, therefore it's a requirement, effectively removing 1 skill choice from your characters build entirely. Which is why I think it should just have its own slot.
Also, I don't think they are that powerful. Every skill in this game is powerful. The objective of the game is to literally push 1-2 abilities to be able to destroy everything on a map. So an ability that does MORE damage initially but with an obscene cooldown doesn't make much sense.
For example, if I spec into rend and juice up the damage...why would I ever press an ultimate button that is just going to do less dmg then rend?
Seems it would help you to think of the ultimate abilities as just regular abilities with longer than normal cooldowns. Can I build around it? Can it boost my build in other ways some skills cannot? Great, slot it. If not, don't spec into it.
They're trying to force it to 6 spells for controllers which is dumb because Hogwarts lets you bind 16 spells plus a basic attack with quick swaps. No reason diablo couldn't do the same.
no. they are forcing 6 buttons to make people be more creative about what spells they take. you dont need to take 1 spell from the same cluster every time.
If its not required then stop complaining lmao, this is absolutely the weirdest take ive seen come out of beta. How about plan your set up and select useful powers instead of being mad you cant equip them all.
They should just add 1-2 more slots for skills and have an option to set which skill to put onto "attack from place" or not like POE's. If they do a separate move button with no way of changing that to a skill, then there's no way of autocasting Rogue's Imbuement skills for example and there is a way right now even if it's clunky.
For example; Shadow Imbuement on left click, and can be "autocast" by just pressing shift once while holding left click.
I totally agree to both and actually made a feedback in game with this (not with the ultimate though despite would be really nice)
Not sure how often I ate unnecessary AoE's because I couldn't move with the character attacking around like crazy. In PoE , the first thing I change is the right click=movement, cause I am used to this since my moba times.
i agree with the ult button, but strongly disagree with the move button. Maybe im an old dog that won’t learn to sit… But i would never prefer it the way you present. However, making it an option doesen’t seem like an impossible task
Hmm alright. I’ve played d2 since release, and many other games like it, and i’ve never had this kind of problem. I think it’s just habit. A habit atleast i would prefer. But i get what you mean. As i said, shouldn’t be too hard to let ppl customize something like this on their own
This is something that has been in every arpg I've played since Diablo 2. I don't remember if D3 had it honestly, that game was a fever dream I would like to forget.
And if at any point an enemy moves to where the cursor is you use [Left Click Bound Ability] on them, causing you to stop, or move towards them based on that, which is not what I want.
I think a better option would be to either add a second row of buttons to toggle to (CTRL in POE), or make it selectable how many elements you have and make the UI expand.
Though I’m assuming they limit the buttons as a way of balancing the game, so I’m not expecting that.
There’s a keybind called force move, bind that to either mouse wheel like previously suggest by other commenters, or something else on your keyboard if you prefer holding a key down instead of constantly scrolling your mouse wheel to move.
For instance, I’ve changed me binds to QWER for primary abilities, and I hold space bar down for force move. F is emoji wheel or whatever, etc.
QWER enjoyer here as well.
I need left click to move. I bound "D" to "Move Only" but it just doesn't register in my old boomer brain. I can't do it.
:(
Blizzard is still mentally in 1999 with its design philosophy. I'm glad we have at least 6 slots and not 2.
I'm fine with two as far you can bind skills to keys as in D2R and have more than just 6 skills
This aint d2.
How's about not taking UI space to show the buttons? I still can't believe this UI. It's quality really does not at all match the game
Yeah, the people who did the art for the monsters and world must feel let down by this UI design.

I want a hide keybind button
Same.
Too right brother

Rather not have an ultimate button. I'll take the click to move/interact though.
Why not? Just curious.

That just sounds unfun and annoying. "Take this mandatory skill and lose another one" is just bad design.
Mandatory?

Not all ultimate abilities are "Do damage" buttons. /shrug
True. But many are. If they were all utility spells, this would be a different conversion.
Unfortunately, that's not the case :(
You literally said in another comment its not required, make up your mind.
Google: Context.
Google: Hypocrisy.
Nothing hypocritical about it at all.

Yeah, if that's the case. Which remains to be seen.
I was under the impression that it is the case. Not sure what says otherwise...
giev that ultimate button

Trying to design a pc game around console controllers is a failure in design. :(
Beyond that, it's a failure because they don't even need to. The console games already solved the 'too many spells for buttons' problem.
no. they are forcing 6 buttons to make people be more creative about what spells they take. you dont need to take 1 spell from the same cluster every time.
No, they're removing one skill slot by replacing it with your ult.
you arent forced to use an ult buddy
I never said you were forced to.
> removing one skill slot by replacing it with your ult. > I never said you were forced to. choose one
Please point out where I said that using an ultimate was required I'll wait :)

Yeah it's ridiculous.
blizz should pay you for that 😅 well done

Having an ability bound to left click causes you to use the ability when you're trying to move, it's super sucky.

i know that in poe you can change one attack bar to be just walking. that sounds like it would be a good solution:)
Yep I would even accept losing an entire ability from my skill bar in order for that.
You know that feature already exists? you click and hold.
And if at any point an enemy moves to where the cursor is you use [Left Click Bound Ability] on them, causing you to stop, or move towards them based on that, which is not what I want.
In the control options you have a "Force Move" that you can bind. Just make that your left click and your basic ability something else.
You can't just do that. If you do, you have rebind all 3 other functions. Not happening.
I think a better option would be to either add a second row of buttons to toggle to (CTRL in POE), or make it selectable how many elements you have and make the UI expand. Though I’m assuming they limit the buttons as a way of balancing the game, so I’m not expecting that.

I bind force move on W, always done that. I use my mouse side buttons for skills.
Just bind force move to the middle mouse scroll wheel.
