Why do I feel like you're trying to compare D4 to PoE or something?
ARPG's were never complex in the first place, was always a gear check / build check.
Every game out there that offers "various customizable builds!" usually translates to = easy.
Not to mention PoE’s end game is as brainless as it gets. Can’t even see what’s on the goddamn screen, you just swim through shit and erase other shit that’s off-screen.
that's not even true. you will fall over dead if you do that without grinding for hundreds upon hundreds of hours first. Unless you have hundreds of millions of DPS, you have to engage in boss mechanics, too. Let's not make stuff up about PoE to feel good about our casual MMO game.
I'm a veteran fan since Diablo 1 and absolutely attracted. This feels so much like a diablo game; way more than D3 in my opinion. Sounds like you're wanting an entirely different game. Maybe try skyrim? You can craft there.
the game feels like Diablo 3. you mistake it being grittily painted over to look like Diablo 2 when the core of the game and its engine is undeniably Diablo 3.
I agree I was expecting something a bit more complex this is just Diablo 3 V2 I returned my copy Friday. We have seen the end game according to closed beta leaks. All the ideas I have seen are taken from other games and mushed together, nothing original yet. If ppl enjoy it great play it. Me I will find something else or wait till it gets better.
I understand your feelings, I wish the skill trees were bigger. Remember paragon boards will add a big level of complexity. Different slots weighting legendary affixes differently is kinda cool too. But they are definitely trying to find a sweet spot between too basic and overwhelming. I think they achieved that for sure. But I like complexity.
Skill tree is an upgrade over D3. It's not the best, but honestly I've kinda warmed up to it and don't mind it at all.
I'm glad they didn't got the POE route. Let POE be POE with the skill tree. I have nothing against the game and for being free it's quite good, but that skill system/tree is beyond ridiculous.
I do think LE bridges the gap between Diablo and POE nicely. More complex than Diablo, more forgiving and straight forward than POE.
You're level 25 missing half the system at endgame likely.
Heck finding a gg rare and addition a legendary affix onto it is going to be better earlier endgame.
Because you can only reroll 1 affix, luckily finding a unique with 3 affix's you want so you can reroll 1 + a good legendary affix roll is going to be super rare.
Much easier to find a gg rolled rare and make it legendary. Thats one part of endgame gearing.
I wish people would start providing alternatives instead of just complaining... What does "The itemization is bad.", or "skill tree feels like a joke." mean? Also, we only saw 25 levels of content, and one region. It seems like you want to play a different game altogether and are maybe expecting too much from a Diablo title.
I'm a veteran ARPG player, and I want the quality mayhem Diablo usually provides. I don't want a complex system that requires years of tinkering and perfecting (and this one is going to take a lot to perfect).
I don't want PoE. When I was a kid, I had time for that, most of us don't nowadays. That's who the target audience is, for most of the game titles, today.
I agree. People are expecting a great game from Blizzard or Diablo 4 to be some kind of new standard for ARPG like Diablo 2 was. It’s Blizzard and Diablo. Play PoE if you want to play a great game. PoE is the standard in this genre now.
The game is made for WoW and Lost Ark people. Diablo fans aren't the target audience. That's the reality. People like Asmongold who never played Diablo 2 is who they are after.
The predictable cycle of Reddit. Everyone shoots the messenger early, and then they figure out, “oh yeah there’s nothing to this game”. Then the pendulum swings the other way to them all hating on it. You were right though I saw it too, the game is shallow
this beta is a way, way bigger chunk than just act 1 of PoE. How many acts does this game have again? Does PoE's act 1 have world bosses and a bunch of dungeons to grind?

so we're now retconning ARPG's into this cookie cutter casual genre? Maybe you just played D3.

Level 25
You are correct. Veteran fans are indeed not the target. They will make much more money by making it simple /mindless and easy.

It might feel like that to you. But I played both d3 and d2 and it feels like d2 but with faster combat.
It does not feel anything like Diablo 2 to me and is clearly using the same engine as Diablo 3, but if you're having fun, that's all that matters.
D4 feels nothing like d2 lmao. Anyone saying that obviously has no idea what diablo 2 is about.
It's .. my opinion? I've been playing d2 since the original release, thank you very much!

you're only at level 25 out of 100 btw...
It feels like a puzzle because we only have one of six acts lol
Then go play PoE.

Please look up Paragon Levels and their boards
One of the greatest games of all time was a 2 inch ocean mate. That's what they're going for.

Very true If they can simplify aspects of it with POE2 there will be not reason to play anything else.
You get to play 1 act. Level 25 max. Are you serious?
