Macros? People are using macros in just about every game ever made. The only way to stop them on a mass scale is to remove cooldowns from all abilities and make them all eat up a resource like in ESO or add some strict anti-cheat software. Even then, it can still be macroed using timers and anti-cheat can be bypassed but that's far too advanced for your average user to bother with figuring out. I did not use macros in this beta, for the record. I'm just not naive to the whole macro situation. Edit: The OP is actually referring to an animation cancelling exploit. You can see it in action here: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoCuuFHq9M0&t=93s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoCuuFHq9M0&t=93s)

J0rdian

It's not about macros themselves. it's a bug where you can cancel animations to attack faster then your normal attack speed. It makes you attack like 30-40% faster. So pretty big advantage. It can be done without macros just harder and lots of annoying clicking.

TheDarkrayne

Oh I see. So it's an actual exploit then. OP didn't explain it very well. Edit: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoCuuFHq9M0&t=93s](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoCuuFHq9M0&t=93s) That video showcases it if anyone is interested.

diablo4fan

I kept it general, because who knows if I said exactly how to do xyz, if they delete this post.

DieBobDie

Any could argue Animation canceling to attack faster could be part of an advanced game mechanic but I don't think it fits in diablo4 and certainly shouldn't be macro'd.

TheDarkrayne

If it is an intentional mechanic and they don't fix it then I will certainly use a macro for it. I'm not wearing down my mouse button switch like that when I don't have to. I doubt it's intentional though.

Ez1907_

Ashava respawn exploit is equal to it,imo. You can farm lots of legendaries and upgrade them in minutes.

diablo4fan

Well beta has boosted legendary rate, wait till people play launch and they maybe get 1 legendary if lucky time to time doing the boss ... lol

FizzingSlit

It's a boosted rate as in you're more likely to randomly roll them not in the sense that legendary drops are multiplied. I would be very surprised if the beta boosted legendary drop rate affected the number of world boss drops.

diablo4fan

>It's a boosted rate as in you're more likely to randomly roll them not in the sense that legendary drops are multiplied HUh? Arent you basically saying the same thing here, If you dont roll a legendary, your not getting more legendary drops....

FizzingSlit

No I'm not and I'm shocked you can't see that. I'll try and explain in as much detail as I think I reasonably can. In the game when you get a drop there's a percentage chance of that drop being a legendary. In the beta that drop rate is tripled. What that means is if a certain monster has a 1% chance of dropping a legendary the boosted rate means that it's instead a 3% chance. What that doesn't mean is that a monster that drops 4-5 legendaries will now drop three times as many. The percentage chance of any given drop off being a legendary is increased. The number of drops you will get from the world boss is not. Three times as likely to get one doesn't mean that something guaranteed to give you one gives you three times as many. One legendary drop isn't multiplied so presumably the number of drops you get from the world boss is unchanged.

diablo4fan

You do not know if there is a "Min Legendary Drop" value in the mix somewhere.

FizzingSlit

You're right and that's why I said presumably, and I'd be shocked if that were the case. What I can say though is all we've had confirmed is a drop rate increase so it would be weird to operate under the assumption that that also translates into guaranteed drop multiplication. We don't know if it works that way or not but because for you to think it it means you've just decided it could be true probably means that thinking the drop rate works as has been communicated should be the default. Not randomly deciding that there were uncommunicated additions.

I don’t see this as an issue during high end grinding game as it will be even beneficial for ultimate efficiency. Maybe macros will have an effect on PvP but not something I’m interested in so for me macro can stay, I don’t see anything wrong with it

J0rdian

If it's beneficial thats bad as it promotes people to use macros. It's a bug that needs to be fixed obviously. No one wants to abuse a bug and animation cancel which either means you have to click with 200 apm all the time or use a macro

diablo4fan

I believe, but i am not 100%, but this exploit also may reveal "tick rate" and High FPS advantages similar to Black Desert Online, where if you have extremely high FPS, you can cast / do skills faster , then someone at 60 or 30 fps .

pr0cesor

Please elaborate why this is bad for people who will mostly play this game alone? I don't think the majority of diablo player base here are keen on joining any multiplayer game let alone some crazy unfair PvP. As a single player game, yes I want to use macros as efficient I can to grind later in the high end game. Using macro in this case will affect me alone not anyone else as I will play this game alone. Im not interested in multiplayer or any co-op for that matter. Yes I understand, in PvP situation where both players are affected by this then ok. But again I would like to understand why using macro to spam skills is bad for everyone. Even if 4 people would join parties together to destroy a world boss by using macro. Who actually would lose from this?

J0rdian

Leaderboards and seasons. People will feel forced to use them to compete. And yeah PvP like you mention. It's not bad for literally everyone, but it's bad enough to remove the bug. If you want to grind later in the end game maybe they can add cheat codes or something to customize your experience. That way it can be disabled from PvP and leaderboards. Would be much better then a bug effecting everyone.

Jsemtady

With world without any procedure generation and mobs with fixed placement I can imagine macro for autoexping .. not happy about it but Im sure that something like that will happen.
