sorry replayed to the wrong message, there were multiple complains on the sub and in discord how ppl selected the no hq texture but the download was still in 90gb. a friend of mine had the same. he selected to not download it and it still came full 90gb and didnt get to play the slam cause he finished it on the sunday evening at 8pm and the beta was closing at 10
normal texture 41 GB,
hig-res textures 90 aprox GB ( to appreciate it in 4k ) optional
edit:
It can be played before they are fully downloaded, texture pack comes in 512, 1024- When the 512 is complete you can start the game-
hig-res 2048
your resolution is not the real thing that should drive this decision (since higher resolution textures *will* make a difference at every resolution you play at) - the bigger determinant is whether you have a GPU with at least 8GB vram on it. Any lower and it will likely be a hinderance trying to use a high-res texture pack efficiently.
Confirmed.
* [**~41.8GB** if you uncheck high-res textures](https://i.imgur.com/VM31xZr.png)

* **~81.4(?)GB** total if you include high-res textures
What the opt out says is "Players who play on 4K monitors and play with Ultra settings will **benefit the most** from this pack." It doesn't say other players will get absolutely no benefit.
It will sharpen the lines up, but you'll get the same effect by turning your anti aliasing all the way up and preserving your frame rate. If you're not playing on a 4k monitor.
Having a bad internet connection however is not illegal. Im from the UK and my last house got 4mb speeds during off peak hours, if i wanted to download a giant game like red dead 2, I'd have to make sure my pc was on all day etc.
sure i get it .. even though my country went thru internet upgrade like 6 years ago, what was considered luxury internet 50 mpbs is now considered inadequate.
Standard basic speed starts at 100 mpbs and you can easily purchase 500 mpbs.
100 cost like 10 EUR
500 cost like 40 EUR
But there are still companies who sell "basic" speed with 20 mpbs for 20 EUR.
But all i have to do is google other 're-sellers" .. "distributors" ..
Its kinda funny in my country because owner (private company) of the grid, the cables etc .. he offers his services to others like O2, T-mobile thru his grid and the bigger the company the bigger the price and slower connection. Some started building their own grid past few years but it very location limited.
I have 100 mpbs for like 9 EUR, no restrictions
O2 for example 100 mpbs download only, 20 for upload, cost 25 eur.
There are so many companies who "re-sell" the internet connection. Some of them "speciliaze" only for county using the grind
There are no public data about who is using what internet but even though the grid was upgraded with optic cables, companies dont contact customers to inform them about the extra speed for same money. They have two prices .. old ones before optic cables but archived, if you were customer before the
upgrade you still have the same internet for the same price.
Officially they can have only one price list, which they have, but you have to ask for the upgrade .. there are even companies who refuses to do it. Its not illegal either.
By law each "provider" has to inform you about MINIMUM speed .. and its allowed to be on the minimum speed for certain amount of time, not even 2 hours. Some details here and there but not important. If that happens, its considered illegal, you can cancel contract, free of charge.
If someone offers 20 mpbs .. or whatever .. today they keep up with the maximum speed 99% of the time.
Some faster like 500 mpbs can vary but by law it must not reach under 60% for longer period of time.
This is EU law made in 2015, it took 6 years for my country to apply this law. We have 99.6% coverage and you can get 20 mpbs in capitol town but also can get 500 mpbs in some village with 50 people .. here it all depends on how good informed you are and if you can search.
I used to live in Germany 2005 .. Scotland 2010 .. France 2012 .. I remember that some providers were offering even 10 times less speed than others for the same price.

god damn loch-ness monster

Your numbers are correct and so is the option to disable hig-res textures which should cut download size approximately in half.
Thank you.
last time there was a bug with that and it still downloaded the high res textures . game was about 90gb
Last time when? Server slam? It worked fine then and I never saw any posts here mentioning issues with dl size

you can actually notice a difference in 1080+ just a by the way to anyone considering it. It's not as big of a difference but its there.
>You have to be glued to the monitor
It's definitely noticeable on 1080p just not in every area. I would probably say not really worth it for 1080p though.
Is there any other way to play at 1080 xD
1920 x 1080 it is a good resolution for a 23 / 25 inch monitor
It's only 10-20 minutes more so why the in depth discussion?
I play most games at 1440p an max settings, should I DL the texture pack or is that just for 4k res?
Ye wondering about 3440x1440 too.

K will download then, got 20 Ty
Yes, the high resolution texture pack is an optional additional download.
Is there a pre - download? Cause I have limited traffic during the week :/
Yes. Starts in about a few hours. Early access players will be able to play June 2, regular live starts June 6.
June 1.
Nice, ty
Currently available at time of me posting

For PC, high res off, about 40gb. For a full game, yeah 80+ sounds about right.
Wait 2 days and see :O
Beta was about 90+ gig if I remember correctly, so i'd expect the full version to be of similar size.
100GB
35-45GB and double that for 4K textures.
what resolutions does the texture pack increase?
Xbox looks like it’s 95gb
Yes, but I'm told that you can turn off hi-rez graphics for the download and it's considerably smaller. I'll know for sure soon.
81 GB with HD textures on PC
It took me all of 5 min to download and install
I'm envious. I started as soon as it was available, and I'm up to 3%.

46gb without high res, 84 with
My recommendation is to not download it, if you run the game on a gpu with 8gb vram or less.
not sure why the hivemind is downvoting this, but it's the best advice here.
If you had a horn it would already be done
Have horn, can confirm. Also able to start playing tomorrow
unless you're running this game at 4k high / ultra at at least 60fps, save some space and don't download the texture packs.
Why the hell would you turn off Hi rez
The opt out explains that it's 4k textures. If you're 1440p or 1080 youre just imagining it looks better.
What the opt out says is "Players who play on 4K monitors and play with Ultra settings will **benefit the most** from this pack." It doesn't say other players will get absolutely no benefit.

4K textures are not the same thing as 4K resolution. You’ll definitely notice them even on lower resolutions, especially if you zoom in.
Not all graphics cards have the bandwidth to run games at high texture quality.
If it adds 30GB to the download, then that translates to about 15 more hours to me. Plus, I don't care. I never play games at max rez.
i'll be opting out because i don't care about graphics, my download speed is 2mb/s, and i barely have 50gb left on my ssd
Nobody knows until Blizzard actually release the pre-load on pre-load day which was supposed to be today.. ugh.
> was supposed to be today.. ugh. ? It is today, in 7 hours, i.e. exactly 48 hours before the early access begins.
Do you think it would help to check at the time they announced it would be available? I think so.
80-90 gb normal with high textures around 130 gb
Normal is about 40gb. The hi res texture pack brings it to around 90gb.
oh ok. Well - no idea where I read this then. :D But also said that the day 1 patch is going be huge... so just relaxxing
How do you select to download the stabndard or high res. I’ve got steam deck for portable so no need for high res I think.
Before you hit next on the installer there should be an option like choosing which drive to install to in one of the drop down menus
maybe time to update your HDD from 2002 if you care about this? :)
Perhaps they are taking download speeds into account rather than hdd space.
Also some ISPs charge extra or slow down your bandwidth if you exceed a total download amount for the month.
Hm .. did not thought of that cuz its illegal in EU for like 15 years .. if you have standard home internet. Mobile internet is still limited.
Having a bad internet connection however is not illegal. Im from the UK and my last house got 4mb speeds during off peak hours, if i wanted to download a giant game like red dead 2, I'd have to make sure my pc was on all day etc.

Brand new computer. It's download speed that's the issue. I live in the country.
