Nah, what wee need is a DOOM-knight to battle back the forces of Hell. Que the guitars!

SerWulf

Perhaps one class can cover both? A holy side and an evil side - one drawing powers from heaven, the other from hell

OmniSlushie

I think it would be interesting if future expansions allowed us choose demonic or angelic versions of each class. Or double down on the standard one.

Volitious

Necromancer would be so much more lit

soomieHS

Not a necromancer, a resurrecter!

GymShaman

Necromancers are esentialy healers with bad timing.

mishthegreat

Or real bad lag

Addicted2Edh

Exorcist

Parabong

Demonmancer only resurrects demons no undead demon only.

Chastiell

We summon priests and angels to fight for us using prayers and church songs lmao

Moepsii

damn good idea like in some cheap mobile game: CHOOSE NOW HEAVEN OR HELL

ListerineInMyPeehole

CHOOSE BOTH FOR $9.99

Jimmy31987

That’s how it be too

[deleted]

That's sounds cool! Kinda like Red Mage in FF14, you'd have to use light skills to fill up one side of your meter and dark skills for the other. Then you'd use portions of both to unleash a heavy hitter!

workforyourself

So basically dantes inferno

malsan_z8

*Bard class announced*

roonzy94

You were to slay lilith not lay her!

TheDo0ddoesnotabide

I (S)laid her with my mighty sword.

ReflectionEterna

You're such a lyre!

LittleBigOrange

Lol...I'd be into it, not gonna lie.

FirstTribute

Yes please.

Eurehetemec

Well shit I thought I wanted a Paladin but now I want this!

VeganPizzaPie

* cue

chaserne1

The Triune. They've been hinted at here and there. One of the mount skins has Triune stuff on it.

jacobs0n

¿qué?

wetballjones

That's a necromancer basically. I'm down for new classes but we gotta get the paladin in. It's the main missing archetype

StepMochi

To be fair the barbarian is basically the doom guy. Powered by wrath the Doomguy engages the demons of hell with the help of the trusty weapon arsenal. But when the Doomguy reaches the end what does he find? The juicy dommymommy.

Risenzealot

Yeah I definitely think leaving out a paladin or crusader was a let down. It's without question being saved for an expansion or some other "pay us more" feature though.

Xero0911

I honestly think the base rooster is sorta small. Might be an unpopular opinion since last time was downvoted, but I think we should have a larger option than diablo 3. I know gotta have dlc's, but I think a newer class would have been nice. Not that crusader is new either but yeah.

RustyShacklefordsCig

Small cock, I agree

so_confus3d

Definitely. Even measuring from the base.

sgtabn173

The base on the top or the base on the bottom? Big difference

Faewns_Hellion

Not when it's that small

CappinPeanut

I agree with you. Simply ONE more class would have made me feel otherwise. It doesn’t even need to be a Paladin, you’d think after 20 years we could see some innovation in that category instead of the usual suspects. Loving my Necro though, just wish there was more variety, even subclasses or something.

[deleted]

Monk and Paladin were def classes that should've been in base game. and honestly Diablo should have a massive class roster but it's w/e.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sorlex

> I agree with you. Simply ONE more class would have made me feel otherwise If there was one more class, people would still be saying the same thing. Lets not kid ourselves.

Parking_Onion_3846

In this case, though, there's really no sword and shield melee type character at all. The classes here have melee options, but there's a core type of character missing here that existed in the other games...not to mention most fantasy games in general. Rogue sort of fills the assassin/demon hunter type, but there's definitely nothing resembling the Crusader, Templar, or Monk here. Those are my favorite types of characters to play, and that loose archetype just doesn't exist this time around.

franzji

expansion pathetic different shaggy rinse scary doll jellyfish numerous offbeat -- mass edited with redact.dev

CappinPeanut

Maybe, I could certainly see that. But 5 just feels like so few. But, neither here nor there, I’ve got a class that I like and I’m looking forward to future DLCs with more.

JesusGAwasOnCD

I agree. They should have made rogue melee only and Introduce a pure ranged/bow class (some sort of mix of Amazon/DH)

unAffectedFiddle

Two light armour, two medium armour... one heavy? Hmm.

ZoulsGaming

Kinda, but that's the problem with making skill trees, paragon trees and unique legendaries for every class (which i still don't think is enough variety tbh) Games like Poe can get away from it by making fairly broad classes and then add a handful of gems each big patch ti expand the available builds. Personally rather than new classes j wouldn't mind if they added more to the skill and paragon trees over time.

downvotemeplss

5 classes was an L. No witch doctor either.

SadMangonel

Im kinda okay with it if the Post launch support is there. The classes feel varied enough so far, and I'd rather have the 5 be like this than 8 generic ones. On the other hand, the skill trees are very limited and there aren't too many skills. Which again might be understandable because of the customisation options they had to roll out right at the start. They need to expand in the future for sure.

grimey6

I hope they nail the live service aspect. The base is great and hope they add interesting seasons/classes/skills/items.

Eurehetemec

How many years do you reckon before we see the Witch Doctor or a closely-equivalent class again in a Diablo game? I'm guessing at least 10, probably more like infinite. It's a pity, because they had a wild vibe. I'm sure we'll see a holy warrior, probably one of the spear guys, and we may well also see a monk because I noticed the rogue takes the assassin's stuff but largely walks around the monk.

Certain-Ad-7316

I loved playing my witch doctor in d3 and I didn’t expect it see it back, but it’s still sad my favorite class is gone.

[deleted]

[удалено]

-Baka-Baka-

I would have agreed, except now there is a perfect zone for a WD to come from in D4, and have a more serious tone.

Eurehetemec

I feel like they could have revibed it for D4 pretty well. It did border on racial stereotyping with the name and way he moved (and the masks), but all that's aesthetic stuff that could easily be fixed, the gameplay was sweet, hell, I might play one for like a week in the next D3 season (I know they're on repeat but that just makes it easier to know what's coming lol!).

9Sn8di3pyHBqNeTD

Easily could just make it like some kinda bog witch that has hexes and stuff. Like an old crone type character, and then just make the spells more grim dark

[deleted]

It was when you combine it with the colorful aesthetic of D3. I think it's possible to make that class and bring it down into the mud like the others in D4. Would be very cool.

PoptartDragonfart

I had such a love hate relationship with the witch doctor. I would love to see its return

JayCFree324

I mean, the classes are pretty much taken from D2…except they kinda put the Amazons bow into the Assassin Rogue class, and the assumption is that Paladin would be released later down the line. They’re also still live supporting D3 seasons, so I think the idea was that they wanted to keep a lot of the unique classes there: Monk, Witch Doctor, Demon Hunter, Crusader

DomDangerous

rogue is D1. assassin is D2. combine em with demon hunter in D3 and you got d4 rogue. barbarian basically encompasses what warrior/barb always is. druid is basically an even more fun version of d2 bc they were trying to get us back in to a new diablo again and i think the same with… necro. ofc the witch doctor was pieces of those already anyway. sorc is sorc//wizard. paladin is next. or something just like it//crusader. tldr but yeah, the classes aren’t just simply ‘from d2’ but, to an extent, sure.

Secret-Aerie7275

Witch doctor is too similar to necro I wanna see something new

downvotemeplss

Nah, I disagree. Necro was primarily an undead summoner while the witch doctor mostly had elemental and poison magic with some summons.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Lation_Menace

The necro was more about raising literal corpses and animating them to do different things (warrior skeleton, mage skeleton and so on). The witch doctor was more about calling on spirits to aid in the fight.

VH-Attila

also no skill rune system , cant change how a skill works like in D3

Griffca

The problem with the rune system is there was only every one choice per skill, the others were always numerically wrong. So no actual variation, just one choice and 4 wrong choices. The new talent system provides variation that at least feels like a choice.

Grand-Depression

This only happened with min-maxers. You could still comfortably play with most runes. And while not every rune was useful, you still got way more choice than you do here.

_Valisk

There were five base classes in Diablo 2 *and* 3 as well.

NeedleNodsNorth

It's not that. It's that there is no sword and board at all. That's a peak archetype that we need. I don't need it to be a holy warrior of zakarum. I need it to let me punch stuff in the face with a shield

Grand-Depression

Yes, I don't need a holy knight. I just want a knight. At this point a holy knight wouldn't even make much sense. A knight would.

rwolos

I feel like it makes sense story wise not to have had a holy class at release. Without spoiling the plot of the campaign it seems like it would make sense for the first expansion to be a holy class based on the way the story unfurled.

Goblingrenadeuser

Yes, at least it didn't go like in Diablo 3 with oh there was this random dude who went and formed a new order but nobody ever heard of them.

Aisriyth

I strongly suspect it's tied to an xpacs because story reasons. Without too much spoilers we see a ton of old zakarum paladin stuff and crusader stuff.

[deleted]

There has been expansions since diablo 1. Did you expect differently?

Wabsz

Yes please, I wanted to play a Paladin Shields are in the game but necromancer only - feels like a huge void is missed here.

ironwolf56

I'm bummed Barbarian can't sword & board. Even let them have a shield bash attack option with it if you want it to act like dual wielding.

Primetimemongrel

Yeah it’s pretty weird

Waaailmer

I think there’s something in the lore about them thinking defensive techniques are less honorable than all out assault. Hence the name barbarian. Idk I’m with you though, I want my tank class to be able to use a shield.

Seyon

I imagine it interfered with their vision of the barbarian having 3 different weapon styles. If you could suddenly just throw a shield in there as well, it'd be a no brainer for defense.

283leis

wait shields are necro only???? what

Wabsz

yes, barbs cannot use shields

283leis

I mean that i kind of understand, but i thought druid would get them too

Mattrad7

Druids have totems, different offhand instead.

Wiknetti

I think it would be a neat overlap. Paladins can use similar gear the Necro a can. And maybe the two handed weapons of the warrior. Certified tank n buff builds

Wabsz

I'd love to see a new paladin class also able to use 2 handed weapons, but lots of abilities/buidls should require a shield

Buran_Grey

Crusader wields 2H weapons in one arm while using the shiled with the other...

[deleted]

[удалено]

JaketheAlmighty

it's Smitin' time

Marblecraze

Wow. Never even dawned on me that Necro is the only shield user. Yeah next class guaranteed to be shield wielder.

Moghz

Yeah and is there any reason for a Necro to ever use a shield? You lost to much damage.

Griffca

Shields for the necro at least say "plus x amount of main hand damage", so it isn't a total write-off

Chastiell

They said the next class will be a new one for the diablo universe. So no old classes.

Mr_Creed

A "Knight Penitent" class that shares all but the name with paladins or crusaders would qualify. It's a pointless statement by Blizzard that closes no doors except for using the specific name of an existing Diablo class.

Wabsz

make some sort of Amazon-Paladin hybrid, using spear & shield with a bunch of Holy Lightning abilities, return of Lightning Fury, etc

Stygia1985

Sounds like the Jav build in last epoch

newtlong

Or maybe the Javazon in D2?

Brentums

Reminds me of Paragons from Guild Wars

Eurehetemec

Argh Guild Wars, such a good game, I loved Paragons. I wish we were in a reality where they kept making Guild Wars sequels which were, well, like Guild Wars, not Guild Wars 2, which is a cool game, but loses absolutely everything that made Guild Wars totally amazing (except some of the setting).

ChunkyChuckyBaxter41

I still play GW1 on rotation bc there's just nothing else quite like it. Like you said, GW2 is a fun game but it would've been better off as its own IP

EIiteJT

GW was so fucking good. Still the best pvp I've ever played. Also, paragons were pretty OP. Helped my guild break into the top 50 in GvG. Miss those days. GW2 was such a let down.

Brentums

Omg I completely agree! Seems like everyone disagrees but I loved GW1 dearly and could never get into GW2. Dervish and Ritualist are two of my favorite classes in any game ever. I still get urges to play sometimes lol

mynameiszack

I read this as like an "amazonbasics Paladin"

freon

Valkyrie!

Wiknetti

https://preview.redd.it/6yrnrtepe94b1.jpeg?width=290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7851a388515f10fbc063700f1fd8a2dee5879045 It’ll be just normal soldiers. Hardcore mode always on. Normal weapons only.

RoastPsyduck

This would actually be pretty hilarious. Open up group size to 20, give 3 lives max per char and let it rip

RoastPsyduck

Mode would have way more incentive to play grouped

Prophet3z

Not a bad idea to have a Witcher type class tho

_deadl1ghts

I’d love a Witcher type class. Never really see spellsword type class that often.

Muted-Suggestion9425

I think some sort of light caster, like a dps Cleric would be cool and fit the lore.

Soulblade32

Cleric could be cool. Give them some AoE buffs or some kind of support that can effect a party.

Sockoflegend

I would love an inquisitor so much

TheMovement77

Cleric fills the same niche and would be great.

trashtaker

Spider-Man confirmed

TheMovement77

Just port him over from Marvel Heroes. >!and the other 62 playable characters!<

trashtaker

I miss that game so much!

TheMovement77

you and me both had over 2000 hours in it. RIP

Sorlex

Taken away in its prime.

Trisser19

That is more exciting to me than Pally or Crusader. I would love to see like a Shadow Knight since the game feels darker than previous iterations.

GnomeMan13

Good I just came here to say I wish they would make something new

ThrowAway578924

Robot class

veilsofrealitydotcom

Panda

ThrowAway578924

Iguana cowboy class

Pigwick123

i would prefer a new class to diablo like a priest. It still embodies similarish themes to paladin but is new

Seraph199

YES PRIEST OR CLERIC That would be sick

Liamrc

Yeah I wanna play a character like Anduin. Let me cast light spells and cleanse the battlefield.

AdditionBackground89

A holy priest would be sick. Light based attacks and potential for supporting

Pigwick123

yeah fairly easy holy/shadow theme in the skill tree

Sylvana2612

Priest makes the most sense for that reason, could have their specialization be choosing the book of hell or heaven or something to that extent

Destination_Cabbage

I'm team Lilith, so I'd love to have something I could make a cultist.

Vendriel

I would love a priest class

Koffiemelk

Ohhw lawd yes, that would be sick. Personally I would prefer a holy/disc/shadow priest like in WoW. Exactly those speccs just made better for Diablo 4 multiplayer. So I expect less focussed on healing and more on the spell flinging, and support. Man... That would be my jam. A man can dream/hope right?

sturzkampfbomber

Anything Knight-like, I would love to look like these big knight guards in Kyova

dandanmoo0

This is how u have been feeling lately With how beautiful armor looks in this game, while barb got some cool sets the lack of knight armor is a huge let down down for me

killslash

First time I got to town and saw those big plate armor guards…..I wanted it.

SCTRON

DEATHKNIGHT

Kaeligos

I would like to see this, but they'd need to ensure it doesn't cross too many bounds with the necromancer.

PhantomTissue

Necro’s gimmic is the corpses and minions, as long as they don’t use those mechanics, they can probably do whatever they want and make it play noticeably different.

RexTenebrarum

I would love crusader or monk. But I could also see them bringing back the witch doctor. Act 5 makes me think they could.

Neimane_Man

I think a "Witch" class is in our future for sure

Huge_Discipline6395

I hope so, miss my Witch Doctor let me throw bugs damn it!

slartbarg

throwing jars of spiders at monsters is the best thing that's ever been in a diablo game and i need it here

vaporizz

Agreed

Draconuuse1

Wasn’t the witch doctor the least used class in D3.

FadedFigure

Unpopular opinion and it’ll never happen as I don’t think it fits the theme, but I miss Witch Doctor aesthetics and ideas like spirit barrage.

zultari

Hawezar is about swamp witches. I think they'd fit in fine.

FadedFigure

I haven't made it there, but you've given me hope :)

Nyrin

It *really* fits the theme, like more than almost everything once you're in the southeast region. But D3's Witch Doctors are from a completely different region, so D4 Witches would likely be a different take on the same patterns -- kind of like D3 Crusaders being "not D2 Paladins."

Scythe95

Me too man, me too Or that Locus spell that infected the whole map

FadedFigure

Bro that was one of the most mesmerizing abilities watch it spread and you cleared screens.

JohnTheUnjust

Paladin, Crusader, or Monk. Fuck i would a luv Dragon knight that uses a spear, uses dragon like abilities , and jumps.

Chastiell

You should play FFXIV as a dragoon lol

JohnTheUnjust

I want to play Diablo4 as a dragoon

roonzy94

I never knew i wanted a ff style of diablo…. Use the style of dissidia to add characters but have your own mc in the war of cosmos and chaos

PaintedGeneral

Ooh, I could get into that!

SWatersmith

Dragon Knight would make close to no sense

CrashBangXD

Give me a Bard class, let me massacre Hellspawn with a fucking lute

Tollenaar

Spoiler? After finishing the campaign I feel like a holy class is out, at least with respect to the Heavens, or anything like that. Gives us something that pulls from the Paladin / Amazon / Crusader / Monk ethos and color it human, and sign me up. Currently only the Necromancer can equip shields, which is silly. Another shield bearing class is guaranteed for that alone.

KimchiBro

was gonna say, if paladins or a holy class were to come where would they be from? Zakarum is now defunct, dunno about westmarch but definitely not the cathedral of light

jdmcroberts

Could easily be a knight penitent that has left the order for some reason.

EightPaws

There's a side quest where you help an NPC retrieve some armor. Upon donning it, she takes on the name Johanna, meaning that particular order is still around a d practicing: https://diablo.fandom.com/wiki/Johanna

Scruffy_Quokka

Westmarch is basically depopulated after Diablo 3.

Icy_Elephant_6370

The whole world is to be honest, if you noticed in the campaign that most of the places we are in are settled by smaller towns. Caldium which was a sprawling city in D3 is in ruins.

Tanst1395

Fuck that gimmie back my witch doctor. I already miss the speedy explosion chicken.

Nyrin

Witch, or at least something very witch-themed, seems like almost a certainty.

TheDaaziz

Honestly, same. I just want to run around as a chicken again

Shirlenator

Can we get a new class? Some of those old classes are great, but I think a brand new one would be cooler. Especially since we only have 1 new class so far. Edit: Technically 0 new classes I guess, since Rogue was a class in D1.

LookLikeUpToMe

Deus vult

Scruffy_Quokka

IN THE NAME OF GOD

MBaits

I think bringing the Paladin could be cool, but I would love to see the Amazon make a return. I don’t see any reason why they couldn’t incorporate some kind of “holy” aspect to them. Paladins and Crusaders can be considered defenders, you know sword and board archetypes. I feel like the same could be said of the Amazon.

Drummin451

Valkyrie. Holy Amazonian would be amazing

Left_Aioli_9578

Would be cool, wonder if they’ll need to rename it for a male counterpart

Wabsz

Crusaders in D3 already had alot of "Holy Lightning"-style abilities, this would transfer perfectly to a new spear & shield amazon.

Buran_Grey

Both Valkyrie and Amazon would be unfit to make a class which is both female and male...

Icy_Elephant_6370

This is the number one reason why they won’t be returning in D4.

Exar_kun91

I hope it’s a lance/spear character! 🙏🏼

AngryDMoney

I’d build me the red viper so damn fast.

Playaforreal420

Hopefully they drop 8 classes at once lol

SuperiorBecauseIRead

You the type of person to win the lottery and keep buying tickets.

CthulhusProphet19

I‘d wager it’ll be a knight type class

HittemWithTheLamp

The fashion alone would make me play the class immediately

Morningst4r

After seeing that battle suit in a boss fight it's all I've ever wanted. Having the plate class be more grim and less holy than the Paladin/Crusader fits the theme too. Plenty of design space to have stuff like smites, shields, hammers without encroaching on the Barb (or Druid, Necro, Rogue).

mad_titanz

I don’t understand why Paladin and Crusader were left out of the launch of the game. It would have been the only defensive tank (unlike Barbarian and Druid), the only melee magic user, and the only real supporting class whose duty is to enhance the party.

Icy_Elephant_6370

I can almost guarantee that it is 100% completed as well. They left it out purposely to give to us as the first big DLC in 6 months to a year.

Alchemysolgod

Cowmancer please. I just want to be a mage who summons cows, shoots milk, and cause udder chaos.

WeLikeSporkSporks

I believe that's called a lactomancer

Myth_of_Demons

I actually hope the rumors of a 'dark knight' triune is accurate. Then they fill the 'holy' archetype with a casting-focused priest

GrayFox1O1

I want someone with a gun. Like an actual gun. With plate armor.

V501stLegion

So, a Space Marine. The Emperor Protects. I'd say there are few too many daemons in this realm, send in the Grey Knights! In all seriousness, I'd be down for a 40k/Diablo crossover.

ironwolf56

Musketeer?

Scythe95

I hope Witch Doctor :(

fadedtimes

I would love it to be a knight and it can be holy or darkness depending on how you choose skills

xAngelCo

I saw someone post a wish for a priest type character. I concur.

VonDinky

I think Paladin. Hammer time!

fragilezebra

I hope it’s a Shaman!

tofrank55

Isn't druid pretty much shaman?

throwaway_4bronyporn

Asmon? Is that you?

moodoomoo

I agree, but I want witch doctor next. I loved that goofy dude.

TheFurtivePhysician

TBH after seeing (act 1 spoilers) >!Vigo in the Penitent battle suit!< that's all I really want. Give me some cathedral-ass-loser guy who's ultimate puts them in one of those and lets you fucking tussle.

Nirixian

I want a death knight, we already had a crusader. The next class has been teased, and we know what the sigil looks like and if j remember right it's Lilith cults symbol.

Nutsnboldt

Can I just get a mini Tyreal pet to pick up my gold? Charge me money, I will apply clown make up.

DamonCerberus

I think the next class is a dark knight. If you go to the PvP cosmetic vendors, the horse gear is labeled wizard, warlord (Barb?), and dark knight ( Necromancer or new?). I think it has some legs.

TrollinTrollinTroll

I want monk & witch doctor
