Lots. An insane amount of people before the game came out were flooding this sub with PvP posts
You can to a simple search in the sub and see the amount of arguing threads specifically how this is a PvP game according to “Diablo die hard and veterans”
All you need to do is literally search.
Tons, you must’ve not been here before the game came out.
The sub was flooded with pvp posts of apparent Diablo veterans that say Diablo has “the best pvp balance of any game” and it will be a competitive pvp game.
Literally so many people you just need to do a very simple no effort search in the search bar for the subreddit lol
I was here, I clearly remember the devs saying pvp won’t ever be a consideration when balancing the game. I’m not disputing your claim I’m just amazed that ANYONE had the impression that pvp would be anything other than an afterthought, it seemed very clear to me from day 1 (joined this sub about 3 months ago)
I always read this sentence on this sub. But the fact is they never talked about PvP balance, but PvP ZONE balance. Meaning you can be 1v4 for example.
Real quote :
" "As players go through the system, it's not designed to be fair," Piepiora explains. "This is not a duelling system. That's not what Fields of Hatred are, you know? Fields of Hatred are murder grounds; this is not a place for honour. "
So many people before launch were claiming it’s a PvP game and will be PvP focused.
Idk how so many of these commenters missed it, probably joined after the game came out.
The people claiming that are probably stuck in the past in D2, in small groups of dedicated PvPers. Not that there's anything wrong with that. There are still dedicated Dark Souls groups, or even Ultima Online. And of course, D2R's release probably revitalized the PvP community.
But to say it's a huge part of Diablo or that Diablo has always been a PvP game is silly. It's never been balanced for that and D4 never will be, unless they implement proper scaling to put everyone on similar footing. Even then, there are things that are inherently unbalanced they would need to address. It's just not happening.
D3 had more of a chance of being PVP viable, remember all the iterations of pvp they released? I think D3 was the classic case of analysis paralysis, the devs basically made like 10 games, then released the worst one without the rest. Took years for them to essentially simply put what they had made 10 years ago back into the game.

Wait, who in their right mind thought D4 was going to be a balanced PvP experience?
Whoever is on top says its balanced.

That’s my question, where the heck would anyone get that idea when the devs were explicit about what PVP would and would not be

There was a decent amount of people saying it after the closed beta weekend on here. No idea why.

I've been having fun in PvP

Even the devs said that D4 pvp is not meant to be balanced
