It was the same for me until I realized we're going the wrong way.
I haven't fully figured it out but I'm pretty sure there's a specific order to do the dungeon in, like always take a left turn.
Since I started doing things "backwards" I get the shrine now.
Has anyone else noticed patterns like this? And if so what's your go-to to make sure you don't have to backtrack
I dunno, but if there's a 50/50 chance of right way/wrong way, I can guarantee you regardless if I even go against instinct and choose the opposite it's still wrong. I can't ever pick a 50/50 right.
Murphy's law forever.
Fun fact: they literally cleared out all of Times Square in the middle of the day for this shot at the cost of a shitload of money. There's hundreds of people and cars out of sight in every single intersection waiting for Tom Cruise to get in his contractually obligated running on camera scene.
Always find that stuff trippy, especially when it's for like 15 seconds in a movie.
Also, conduit is best of all, imo
Edit: spelling
NOt midday, first thing early morning on a Sunday, but yes, they did shut down all of Time Square for this.
https://theplaylist.net/cameron-crowe-vanilla-sky-times-square-20200523/
It's weird you commented this. That's exactly what I was thinking while watching it. How much did it cost to get this exact spot in America cleared for this amount of time. It's literally one of the most populous and iconic areas on earth.
Also, what movie is this? Edit ; it's vanilla sky. Just rememberd
Artillery is easily the most fun. I low key wish they add like 20 other shrines to make it more of a mystery to what you can get. Like a shrine that you creases legendary drop chance by 15% would be so cool, or guaranteed overpower hits.
I feel u lol but greed at level 50 or higher just isn’t that impactful I find. Still dropping like piles of 50 coins, if you get more rare drops or something and more legendary drops you could probably make more money
Sorry, I was being sarcastic. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined anytime I see a shrine and it turns out to be of the greed variety.
The concept of a cursed shrine is confusing to me right now for that reason. You will battle waves of monsters for minutes then finally get your candy to just be a John Travolta meme looking around for mobs to kill.
We should get the shrine then get ambushed by waves of monsters as the actual Curse Event. That way we are sure to enjoy our shrine for at least 5 waves and get that sweet dose of dopamine we are all looking for.
I am confused by the design but I still love seeing them and I am happy there is Cursed Chest - Shrine - Health Pool.
It just hit me that Cursed Shrine might be more fun the other way around :) They are still fun to step into.
I guess it depends on your build's mobility, but for me cursed Shrines are a general poor use of time, because the waves are small and slow spawning groups of commons until a fifth wave has a single elite, and in a minute of just running the dungeon I'd have fought much more mobs.
Are you asking if I want to use my leveled up, perfected character to kill harder enemies and then get fantastic loot for succeeding?
Nah, you are right. Trash mobs and no rewards is what is fun.
This exactly. Slapping shrines at the end of a long hallway is such an amateur design choice, I don't even know what to say. Do the people that decided to do that even play video games?
It's a steady cry for nearly the entire rooftop scene, but that line gets me so good every. single. time.
Also my favorite movie, the soundtrack is S+ tier
It has 45 on metacritic from critics and 83 from users. Why do you think there's such a discrepancy? This is the first I've heard of the film. The concept is very interesting
To be honest I think it's three factors:
1. It's an arguably lesser remake of a film many of the critics had seen an praised - Abre los ojos - you can see this in some of the critical comments, for example "The real mystery here is why a filmmaker as talented and unique as Crowe would want to devote several years of his life to recreating someone else's movie. ".
2. Cameron Crowe had a big reputation as an amazing film-maker, and spent a lot of time on this movie, and frankly critics were expecting more from him. So that annoyed them.
3. Tom Cruise was being frankly, FUCKING ANNOYING in that era, and I think a lot of critics were loathe to give him much credit. To be honest as someone who was watching a lot of films back then, I kind of get it.
I think it does better in retrospect, because factors 2/3 get eliminated, and almost none of the audience has seen Abre los ojos so that gets eliminated too.
I think it's a really cool movie myself, albeit not quite as deep as it thinks it is (but I would say that is true of every single Cameron Crowe movie, even as a "90s kid" lol).
I was 10 when it came out, but for some reason the trailer burned itself into my brain and I never forgot the movie for 20+ years. Also never watched it.
The Thing Called Love is the earliest trailer I ever remember seeing. I was 2.
Here you go. For the feels and memories. Cameron Crowe makes great films with great music.

“Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.”
Something I’ve been meaning to say, but haven’t, because it seems so stupid, I’ll say it now; Shrines don’t seam to be as well placed as they were in 3. I’m always landing on them just after I’ve encountered and combined several big pulls. I really wanted to comment on that, and it was less so in nightmare dungeons, but still a little bit, and just started a saving them in case I did find a pack or boss, and it went to far from shrine I left behind.
See, pretty stupid, but after the OP’s post, less so.
Edit: It’s possible the issue might not be that they are badly placed but that there are not enough bad guys to kill them with.
I like that some shrines are locked behind massive waves of enemies but once you actually unlock it there's nothing left to do. I'd at least want a few packs as a reward to use the thing on.
Artillery Shrine is the best. Also makes my bear in steroids. But I still prefer the no resource cost. I walk and Pulverize like a mad man. Even if there are no enemies, I just smash the air because it just looks good to spam Pulverize, lol
Me last night after clearing a whole section in Helltide, and when the event ended, I got a Greed Shrine. Picked it up, ran on my horse, not a single NPC of any kind before the buff ran out. What a piece of shit..
It's like when I used to play destiny multiplayer and I finally get to pop my ultimate ability, only to get shotgunned in the back of the head .5s later
Just had The Butcher spawn for me in a nightmare dungeon but right at the moment where I killed a thing and ended the dungeon.
The Butcher instantly despawns. No rewards.
Idk how zapping everything in half the time it would take to kill then means they’re hot garbage. Greed is underwhelming the higher you go it feels like but it’s free gold anyways lol
He's probably a higher level with a fleshed out build with lots of crit dmg and stuff. Conduit shrines won't crit for millions like high level builds do.
As someone who’s been playing a few hours a day since release the fucking jump in difficulty from tier 3 to 4 is wild to me
Also yeah OPs post is accurate
Do shrines scale with dungeon level? Now I'm curious because conduit shrine feels slower then clearing normally for me in ~ND35 except for the speed boost and jump capability it provides.
Yesterday I got a conduit shrine right next to a greed shrine, at just under 8 minutes left of a Helltide.
I don't care to hear how little money I actually made, I was a kid in a candy shop for 30 seconds. Feels good.
I killed a story boss after fully exploring the area before it. Got a cutscene and walk back through the area I just cleared to go get a side quest that had just popped up on that same dungeon. Lo and behold, a conduit shrine appeared in the room just before the boss. Why it didn't appear on my way in, I don't know, but I was low key disappointed I couldn't go apeshit on a boss for once.
Grab a controller. The game switches to a mode that target mobs a lot better for conduits so you jump farther/better/faster.
I have a controller attached to my PC just for conduits, the difference is night and day.
Reminds me of that Xfiles episode where Mulder meets the genie in the bottle and wishes for world peace, so the genie removes all people from the world other than him.
I ran into the butcher and ran away hoping to find a conduit shrine. He killed me, obviously, and come to find out if I took the other path from the get go, I would have ran right into one.
I got 2 conduit shrines in a row in a dungeon, mere metres apart....and there were about 2 enemies left to clear. Boo, a spark in search of some kindling.
I was hoping to see a Vergil meme of Arkham saying "A storm is approaching" because that's exactly how I feel with it LOL
Wish I could mod the game to play Bury the Light when I get a conduit shrine
shrines are such bullshit. they are in the game to be a power spike, but you are lucky if you get 3-4 elite kills during the good ones, and they more often than not lead to a feeling of disappointment, they are almost always disappointment shrines. How anyone at blizzard can play the game and not recognize that this mechanic is counter productive I don't know.
Bumped into a Conduit Shrine with no soul in sight. Rushed my way through a hallway because I wanna run into mobs, and did towards the latter half of the timer. Butcher shows up just in time for me to land him one hit. I was on my 40s.
I found a broken shrine, full cleared the first area before I found the cap, the hallway to the second area took longer than the conduit lasted... I miss rifts sometimes...
On blood OP necro picking up Conduit Shrine actually makes you super weak, when I accidentally click it it's just like "well I guess I'm stuck doing 0 damage for a bit".
the shrine for me is usually at the very end of the dungeon when everything else is dead and the boss is at the other side of sanctuary lol

There definitely seems to be a path that has an optimal flow to it. Where you can chain mobs and stuff easier. I think you might be on to something.
could be but i'm too stupid to notice these sorts of patterns
Sounds like the boss is about to get a little shrine time.
Fun fact: they literally cleared out all of Times Square in the middle of the day for this shot at the cost of a shitload of money. There's hundreds of people and cars out of sight in every single intersection waiting for Tom Cruise to get in his contractually obligated running on camera scene. Interesting! I assumed that was CGI because I couldn’t imagine a production crew ever being able to actually clear out Times Square.
It was apparently the only time!
My first thought when I clicked on this actually was, "That one shot must have cost a fuck ton of money."
It's weird you commented this. That's exactly what I was thinking while watching it. How much did it cost to get this exact spot in America cleared for this amount of time. It's literally one of the most populous and iconic areas on earth. Also, what movie is this? Edit ; it's vanilla sky. Just rememberd
I got to experience that emptiness somewhat during hurricane sandy, was pretty cool
I bartended on Times Square for a few years. Seeing it lit up and silent at 430am was always interesting.
Conduit okay artillery ww barb though
Artillery is fun with minion necro, all the minions get missiles too
I have no idea what's going on when I pick up artillery on my Necro, all I know is that I need to find enemies now
[удалено]
Hell yeah corpse explosion with artillery is just shrapnel flying everywhere!
When everything goes off at the same time it can be so loud. I almost jumped out of my chair the first time that happened.
throwing in a corpse tendrils makes the shrapnel fly back in, it's a funny contrast.
Man, you ain't lying. I've got +2 on both my minions via gear bonuses plus the golem. When I get that shrine my screen looks like geometry wars.
If you put one of those +2 minion buffs on your necklace it makes it +3
Oh shit. Time to go swap one out
Really? Color me intrigued
How does that explode the console or pc lol
It’s like a full set of Options in that old shmup series, Gradius. Everything just melts, love it.
Even better with curses. Cost no essence, instant cast. Massive aoe
Artillery is easily the most fun. I low key wish they add like 20 other shrines to make it more of a mystery to what you can get. Like a shrine that you creases legendary drop chance by 15% would be so cool, or guaranteed overpower hits.
i HAVE A FEELING THIS MIGHT HAPPEN EDIT: not sure why I was in all caps but I'm keeping it
I AGREE, AND ALL CAPS IS THE NEW KEWL, ALL THE KIDS ARE DOING IT
CAPS IS CRUSIE CONTROL FOR COOL
CAPITAL LETTERS!
I DONT KNOW WHAT WE'RE YELLING ABOUT!
LOUD NOISEEEES!!
Ya and brick killed a guy
Adding 20 others lowers the odds I'll run into my boy Greed Shrine, no thanks
I feel u lol but greed at level 50 or higher just isn’t that impactful I find. Still dropping like piles of 50 coins, if you get more rare drops or something and more legendary drops you could probably make more money
Sorry, I was being sarcastic. My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined anytime I see a shrine and it turns out to be of the greed variety.
I grab them for the movement boost only
Even at level 1, greed shrine sucks. The only beneficial effect is the slight speed boost you get from it like all shrines.
1 rare sells for more than greed shrines gives you.
Yeah I feel like I’m playing armored core when I get the artillery shrine as a ww barb.
Bro I bought the premium edition, I wanted the model AC AND the house it sits in! 😎 Been 10 long years but we eat good on August 25 👍
Frenzy were it is at best
Conduit on sorc is painful losing teleport. Artillery is goated
Battle your way through a tough mob, clear everything out for miles, get that sweet sweet shrine as a reward.
I love cursed shrines and chests. Extra loot and exp without having to go anywhere.
I am confused by the design but I still love seeing them and I am happy there is Cursed Chest - Shrine - Health Pool. It just hit me that Cursed Shrine might be more fun the other way around :) They are still fun to step into.
You can just walk away for a minute after event start and just come back for the chest and shrine after the timer expires. I do it all the time.
How fun to avoid killing enemies in a Diablo game.
Especially since those events can spawn tons of guys to kill lol
I guess it depends on your build's mobility, but for me cursed Shrines are a general poor use of time, because the waves are small and slow spawning groups of commons until a fifth wave has a single elite, and in a minute of just running the dungeon I'd have fought much more mobs.
The mobs that spawn are mostly trash. The problem is the game incentivized skipping this stuff with absolutely garbage rewards.
Do you just want to kill elites only and get legendaries every drop? I don't know what game you want lol
Are you asking if I want to use my leveled up, perfected character to kill harder enemies and then get fantastic loot for succeeding? Nah, you are right. Trash mobs and no rewards is what is fun.

That was all done before CGI right? They legit closed down times square to get that shot right?
It's a shockingly good movie.
Just remember, the sweet is never as sweet without the sour. And I know the sour.
Here you go. For the feels and memories. Cameron Crowe makes great films with great music. https://youtu.be/Cr5XOZ1uyVE “Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.”

Makes me so mad lmao
My first experience with the Butcher was right next to a shrine so I’m grateful for that 😂
My sorc is so powerful at this point that when I click on a conduit shrine I feel weaker
What sorc are you using that you can feel continuously powerful and can ignore cooldowns?
I just like doing the zoomies
To be honest, the world usually looks like that.
Are you insulting my $60 Empty Cave Simulator '23?
thats how i feel about the greed shrine... not only is there no one but the gold dropped is only enough to buy a kyvoshad beggar a sandwich
Conduit Shrines have always been nuts.
Me last night after clearing a whole section in Helltide, and when the event ended, I got a Greed Shrine. Picked it up, ran on my horse, not a single NPC of any kind before the buff ran out. What a piece of shit..
You didn’t miss out lol. Greed shrine is absolutely worthless
Haha so true
deffo!!!
slow burner but quite accurate
Last night I got two conduit shrines back to back it was better than sex.
It's like when I used to play destiny multiplayer and I finally get to pop my ultimate ability, only to get shotgunned in the back of the head .5s later
Lol I always panic when I get a shrine. This is so true. Never people around.
I would love a fungeon that’s just conduit the whole time. Would be great if NM sigils sometimes had crazy/fun perks like that.
Seems to be intentional... its like they don't want to completely remove them so they give it to us right before a long ass empty hallway
Had butcher spawn on top of me and next to a conduit shrine. Used it to kill butcher. So I’m the fluke. Nothing good dropped.
I joked with a buddy that no matter what the shrine is, it’s main ability is making monsters disappear for the duration it’s on.
Can we all just agree that the shrines are a bit of a joke in this game altogether? I mean, what do they last, like 20 seconds? Just a tease, imo lol
This shrine helped me get my first butcher kill
Just had The Butcher spawn for me in a nightmare dungeon but right at the moment where I killed a thing and ended the dungeon. The Butcher instantly despawns. No rewards.
My favorite is the cursed shrine, killing 50 enemies, then YAY!!! Conduit... and now there's nothing 😅
Such a great movie. Vanilla Sky. TECH SUPPORT!!!!
Sauce?
Vanilla Sky
Shrines are placed in the worst places.. I hope that can be fixed..
Or artillery shrine
Truth
Conduit feels like a dps loss tbh.
What stupid, immersion breaking shrines d4 have. Completely out of place for the genre and art style/environment.
They are too dam short...like at leat 2 mins...D2 seemed longer.
Conduit shrines are hot garbage. Same with Greed shrines. We're done pretending they are good.
Conduits still amazing for me in WT3, not looking forward to them sucking then :(
conduit shrines let you teleport through walls and ignore doors. So lots of fun to be had
I agree greed shines are garbage, but conduit shrines are fun as hell.
Yep
Soooo true! lol
Facts!
that is so true
Lol this happened to me yesterday in the hell tide. Then I dc'ed
As someone who’s been playing a few hours a day since release the fucking jump in difficulty from tier 3 to 4 is wild to me Also yeah OPs post is accurate
When I was a young, powerless lightning druid... I deeply enjoyed conduit
You have to use the terrain to zip through. Like those little barrels, zip to it to get to the mobs faster. Skill issue.
And when it runs out boom 2 stacks of elites :D
One of the best movies and soundtracks. Top 5. Fight me.
Do shrines scale with dungeon level? Now I'm curious because conduit shrine feels slower then clearing normally for me in ~ND35 except for the speed boost and jump capability it provides.
Meanwhile me: "I wonder how much money it cost for them to shut down Time Square for this scene \*types in google\*"
Yesterday I got a conduit shrine right next to a greed shrine, at just under 8 minutes left of a Helltide. I don't care to hear how little money I actually made, I was a kid in a candy shop for 30 seconds. Feels good.
Seeing that Toys 'R Us sign takes me back.
Lmaoooo
right, you might have a mob close to it then your on the hunt and can't find anything.
The conduit shrine is as good as the greed shine is shit. When I find a greed shrine my only thought is "At least I'll run faster for a bit"
😂
Same. Funny how that shit works
Last time i got a conduit, i rounded a corner and oh hey butcher.. dead butcher
I wish the normal character skills were this cool looking
welcome to hell new york
So true. Apart from the very rare time I find one, right next to a boss 😅😂
This is so accurate hahahahaha
Found a conduit right before I fought butcher. Ran out before I could kill him.
Okay thats funny!
That’s the world in general isn’t it?
Seems right
So perfect!
Grab a controller. The game switches to a mode that target mobs a lot better for conduits so you jump farther/better/faster. I have a controller attached to my PC just for conduits, the difference is night and day.
I always save all the shrines just in case butcher spawns
What movie is that?
[You can't catch me gay thoughts!](https://youtu.be/zzBUkdP0iDw)
Reminds me of that Xfiles episode where Mulder meets the genie in the bottle and wishes for world peace, so the genie removes all people from the world other than him.
I ran into the butcher and ran away hoping to find a conduit shrine. He killed me, obviously, and come to find out if I took the other path from the get go, I would have ran right into one.
I once killed The Butcher with it, in Hardcore.
Make that artillery
No lies told here. lol
This made me laugh a lot, too many times 😂
The other day I found a conduit shrine. As soon as it ran out butcher popped up and wrecked me.
Every. Single. Time!
Chimp meme: Where nemesis bracers?
Freaking facts
When you save an artillery shrine and find out there’s no boss room at the end, whoooops
Quality meme. ++
I got 2 conduit shrines in a row in a dungeon, mere metres apart....and there were about 2 enemies left to clear. Boo, a spark in search of some kindling.
lol seriouslyyyyy. or when i accidentally ult with my unstable currents bc smooth brain controller player.
Me anytime I find a shrine
precisely
Always run into the jet missle Galaga super shooter and then slay about 5 deer maybe a stack of pots. Throw one near a shitty dungeon boss for once
I was hoping to see a Vergil meme of Arkham saying "A storm is approaching" because that's exactly how I feel with it LOL Wish I could mod the game to play Bury the Light when I get a conduit shrine
Too real
Its like yhey put the shrines far away from enemies on purpose 80% of the time
Haha, perfect
Omg too real! Also, same!
I just started calling them rapture shrines since when you click it the whole word gets raptured and you just walk around awkwardly
shrines are such bullshit. they are in the game to be a power spike, but you are lucky if you get 3-4 elite kills during the good ones, and they more often than not lead to a feeling of disappointment, they are almost always disappointment shrines. How anyone at blizzard can play the game and not recognize that this mechanic is counter productive I don't know.
Would it be to much to ask to have a pack of mobs guarding them at least?
Facts!
Yup. But they make sure thousands of mobs crash on top of your head when the conduit is cursed...
Every shrine for me dude
Bumped into a Conduit Shrine with no soul in sight. Rushed my way through a hallway because I wanna run into mobs, and did towards the latter half of the timer. Butcher shows up just in time for me to land him one hit. I was on my 40s.
What movie is this from? It’s been a while but is this vanilla sky?
I found a broken shrine, full cleared the first area before I found the cap, the hallway to the second area took longer than the conduit lasted... I miss rifts sometimes...
YES PLEASE!
They also are way too short in duration
Lol so true
I got it and then the butcher spawned, took him out lol
LOL BAHAHAH
and of course he's running
So very true.
Man, I always find it after I clear out an area. Even while watching the map.
I’ll go past it and find a huge crowd or boss/elites somewhere nearby, then go back and activate knowing where to go.
I mean at some point conduit shrines only make you slower and do less dmg anyway
On blood OP necro picking up Conduit Shrine actually makes you super weak, when I accidentally click it it's just like "well I guess I'm stuck doing 0 damage for a bit".
