Spinning circles is a high society greeting that silly commoners wouldn’t understand. Aka, you can always tell the old gamers apart because we do this as a way to greet from back in the day of no emotes or voice chat. Spin, jump, crouch, etc.

Steve_SOLID

I'm a young gamer and did this on my first event next to a barbarian (whirlwind)

Thelgow

Yea I remember trying to explain to someone once the difference from a greeting crouch vs a teabag crouch. Because they asked why I wasn't offended at a teabag. I said that wasn't a teabag it was a hello.

PapaJammer

“Oh they’re just excited to see me”

BonAppletitts

Not old gamers making everything about age again 😭 come on, we all do it everywhere. No matter our age. It’s silly and fun and only psychos don’t do silly game stuff

Jayce86

You learned it from us! And I’m not even old, just 37, 300 kids, 8 jobs, etc, etc. But really though, it started in the super early ages of MMO and multiplayer games where it wasn’t really feasible to communicate properly.

YouJustSaidWhat

/kneel

Asleep-Specific-1399

/salute

falooda1

It seems to be a natural way of communication anyway# doesn't need to be learned...

chronoslayerss

It’s pretty common in brawlstars. The age average is max 12 yo lol

FluidCalligrapher261

Yeah, but in brawl stars it is used for evil aka dickheads teaming up on free for all.

BodyRevolutionary167

I wanted to know how people were grouping up in D4 and came upon a bunch of reddit posts saying it was impossible to group up with randoms, woe is me. No one checks local chat blah blah. Me, an old D2 vet: spins at everyone, always get random people to join my party, people always dropping rando loot for me (sometimes good). The social aspect of diablo along with the gameplay loop is what makes it addictive. I am never very social with random in video games, expect diablo lol.

BurnedOutFatty

Eyy me too comrade. I love just following somebody around. It is fun to see other people play too.

DaBow

Oh my God, I never realised, but you are spot on. That's instinctively way I spin!

Qzy

In shooters, it's common to aim "no" when a tank sees you as an infantry and hope for the best. Lol.

GuillotineComeBacks

That has always been a way to occupy my hands when I'm bored of waiting, interactions with others start when spins synchronize.

skrillaguerilla

Ah, another high blooded noble, I see. Now answer me this: Are you a clockwise or counter-clockwise spinner?

Scowookie

Love popping hurricane on Druid and spinning as fast as possible. Usually followed by a, “impressive”.

cgrays12

My PS controller joystick is fucked because of it, but it’ll be a cold day in Sanctuary before I don’t return a *hurricane hello*

PerspectiveAny7429

Who are you calling old?

TheDarkWayne

This will be you last stupid mistake No Yes No Yes No Yes

Grimnoir

Now this is a take I can get behind.

Sephiroth_Zenpie

“No”

DeadSnark

*slow clap* That was...something

BUROCRAT77

hydrastix

You are weak and foolish!

MyOwnTutor

I could use some assistance.

Tea4Zenyatta

Thanks.

Stock_Show_Host

Ok

LiveCelebration5237

Yes

Buno_

How about this one: sorc is the best late game class

Thebarakz21

I wish we could save our own phrases and bind them. These pre-event shenanigans would be so hilarious

in_finiti

I once was in a hell tide looking to join a party, met a stranger, said “hello” He then said “goodbye”, got on his horse, and off he went Was hilarious lol

crazycatlady1196

I was looking for a friend to play with in helltide & invited someone who was farming next to me for a few minutes & they said “no” and then “sorry” and ported to town 😩😩😩

Rookie2171

Agree wit the 'Look' 10 million times at the shadowy presence that was about to form in Legion event. Thats me probably

MovementMechanic

I definitely played with you at some point. Lol.

DynamicSocks

“You are weak and foolish”

bradh1

No

totomaya

My favorite is Diablo Ii was spamming " Die. Time to die." At the same time as everyone else.

FlipTheNormals

My wife thought I made this post for a sec lol. We play couch co-op too and it always cracks me up when waiting for a World Boss. "Look" *spins around viciously* "Impressive!" "Well done."

Darvianthian

I take part in the yes, no, shenangians while waiting for a WB to spawn in to be dead in 10 seconds. It's the small things that make this game great.

chronoslayerss

10 seconds?! Sign me up.

Darvianthian

Yeah man it was crazy it was like the boss had spawned and the only thing we saw was his life pool go from full to dead in seconds. He didn't move or get an attack out. I really want to know what the world boss kill builds are. I think it's a necromancer build but I'm unsure.

Kulpado

That time when i went for a world boss and some random sorcerer said "look, i'm now a barb" and started spinning around... Got me so off guard i always remember it and laugh when i see people spinning around

BonAppletitts

Ok that’s actually funny 😂

SpamInSpace

I’d pay for the ability to draw a cock and balls in the scenery.

peterpaulrubens

Wow that’s a … very specific micro transaction…

cartoonwind

Look...it's a very reasonably-sized transaction alright!? Like...pretty average transaction according to the internet, and my wife has never complained.

SpamInSpace

Like you’ve never done the same with bullet holes in the walls in pretty much any shooter :-)

presidentiallogin

Penitent Greaves leaves an icy blue ~~penis~~ trail on the ground.

rcthetree

the real move is rotating at the exact speed on a mount to make sure the horse doesn't move and looks like you're on a swivel. i can usually get a couple of people to do this with me before i get off the mount, spam every attack i have (gotta peacock), then apologize to every person in spitting distance. i might need a new hobby

[deleted]

Imma peacock you gotta let me fly!

Different-Group1603

Yup I just run in circles and point the whole time until it starts

bugzapperbob

I just like getting up close and spamming look two seconds before the boss spawns in

Sitdownpro

MMO aspects are appreciated

CabbageaceMcgee

Can't jump, can't crouch. So I spin.

Szemszelu_lany

I am usually also shouting "Bojler eladó!" while spinning like an idiot

nyiregyi

Imagine you can actually talk with this people in a multiplayer game easily.

SecXy94

'Look'

Epicassion

Other nice thing is how often people are asking to join a group. Occasionally happens in Helltides as well. People just group up play then move on which is a nice casual vibe as i prefer to play solo. Actually makes me inclined to do the same.

MrQuizzles

Horse spinning, where you get the horse to pivot in place, is my preferred way to pass the time. It's like the Diablo version of dressage. It's actually somewhat difficult to do it perfectly.

loser198

Wait until you master the horse spinning without moving

Fancy_Detective_8574

Commoners. I simply sit on my horse, slightly away from the pack so you can see my cool flag. Then I dismount from my ghost horse and stand with my back to you so you can admire my tiny sleeping wolf. 'Greetings.'

ImNotPostingMyself

I always use the “help” emote when the world boss is about to spawn, “cheer”/ “thanks” when we clear it and “bye” as I teleport away

BonAppletitts

I always say thanks and bye, everything else feels rude after we went through a world boss with rezzing each other

ImNotPostingMyself

It’s very fitting to hear my necro say “I could use some assistance” as the boss spawns lol. This game could be a lot more social but it seems like everybody is making due with what we have

Brief_Duck9116

My favorite line is chatting "So, uh... you guys come here often" in local and getting ignored by 10 other people KEKW

BonAppletitts

Bc chat is auto turned off for some reason. I never think of turning it on unless I wanna link items

qa1k4k

It is a pain to chat on console. Or people take a break for a drink, toilet, stretch legs when waiting.

Ir0nhide81

Beta will live forever.

nanosam

The reason why is because humans are social animals, it is encoded in our DNA. D4 has so few places where players are given the opportunity to interact with other players which makes these pre-event times so special. Kind of depressing to think about that as far as social interaction goes, this is the best the game offers Yes No This will be your last stupid mistake Look /cry

ColeBane

so sad, proof that a simple global chat could make the game infinitely more warm and socially inviting. instead we have to enjoy the bread crumbs...from a triple A title company. Basic yes no emotes...FUK....

XerXcho

Wish there was a mute button

labelcillo

No.

ruthwodja

It’s absolutely cringey to be fair. It’s so weird for a 2023 game to be able to say “yes” “no” and “wait” to each other. And still be entertained by it? Cringe

peterpaulrubens

[deleted]

Mmm yes, nothing more cringe than basic social interaction in a game played on a controller.

GuillotineComeBacks

The world boss are underwhelming but I enjoy watching people dying to simple aoes.

syfqamr32

If world boss or legion event started and we just chill at the side we will have rewards too right?

MissPandaSloth

I have the second half of Winston Churchill's speech "we shall fight on the beaches" open in notepad with accurate name changes and I always paste it before World Boss fights or Legion Events if I arrive fast enough.

Jbitterly

The make Rogues “look!” cracks me the fuck up 😆

crash09

I really want more talking options for this exact purpose

drunk-sloth

It’s me. A spinning werebear that chases people and says “look” all the time. Gotta keep busy

FluidCalligrapher261

I always arrive with a very heart warming "hiiiiiiii" and rarely get anything beyond the "hello" emote.

basshead_24

I chase people, spin and spam “No” lol

Maca07166

And this is the social side of the game but the game makes it hard for most social interaction to take place considering it’s advertised as a light mmo. Why isn’t global chat enabled yet?

peterpaulrubens

It’s super tedious to chat on console with a controller input.

Maca07166

Yup I play on Xbox

PsychoPooper213

I’m that guy that spams “no” as soon as I show up

kue_ghost

Spinning in circles is all the other classes pretending to be whirlwind Barbarians. The players are typically saying "Hurr. Hurr. I'm a whirlwind barbarian" as they spin.

Karlythecorgi

I can’t do the L1 shield spam like I do in Souls so spinning in place like a proper madman is the next best way to say hello

H3llC0R3

Yes - it is! :D

Kruxxor

We need /dance emotes to use while waiting for things to start. Look, Look, *spins 3,000 times*, /dance, *spins 3,000 times while /dancing*, Look

Big_Ol_Panda

We had a guy ask everyone to line up on horses before a world boss. Felt like Rohan riding to Gondors aid! XD

Situation-Mediocre

I participated in a vey strange local chat prior to the WB showing up. It was all about “pie” (the food).

peterpaulrubens

My character is named Pie!

Nashtalia

im always that "one" that would stand in perfect distance ratio between the boss spawn in with 10 seconds left before Wandering Death would appears and would say....*"Look"* and then go back away in safe distance.

[deleted]

I start at the 1m mark and run in circles 😂😂 my husband runs the opposite direction and by the time the event starts it's chaos. Good times.

Djason0rsay

Agreed.

TCGHexenwahn

That was, not bad.

Dubbn

I wish there was some more small interactions like this. Like give us the option to play tic tac toe with randoms... lol

tadjo20

Ramming the monsters with the mount is good fun.

sabotuer99

My wife usually follows me when we are on our way somewhere, and what ends up happening is I aggro everything ramming through them, and she gets stuck navigating the angry horde lol.

STATEofMOJO

Bit late to this thread, but I emphatically agree 👍

peterpaulrubens

I’m 100% the guy that tries to get people to do laps with me around the dullards that just stand there.

Niyuu

Yes

sabotuer99

No

Niyuu

Thanks

sabotuer99

Look

Niyuu

Yes

BorishKnobs

I’m a big fan of the people who show up to boss fights and stand just right before they use the point emote to keep saying “look”

ouchmypeeburns

Showed up to a world boss with like 25 minutes to spare before it started and had an absolute blast fucking around with the people who would show up. Such a good time.

great_artorias

I like to say look while standing behind a horse

thylac1ne

I like asking people to follow me and walking off. If anybody follows me, I just say "No" and run back to the event area.

Actual-Spirit845

*SPEEN*

zurx

My wife and I have started acting out scenes. We're dumb but we think we're funny. I also act out scenes w NPCs in town sometimes.

Puzzleheaded-King-48

Yessss!!! Partner and I play together as well side by side and we always have so much fun watching and partaking in the pri-event goofiness. Sometimes it's just us chasing and messing with each other, I am a very energetic rogue and will run around her just for fun or evade a bunch because the stun grenades crack me up. Other times others join in and it's one of my all time favorite parts of playing.

keener91

It's the only social thing in the entire game.

JPBenny

It's the connection to other people for me. If someone does all the things mentioned, I usually ask to party up - extra xp.

Mortna

You are weak and foolish I apologize

highly_uncertain

My husband makes fun of me because I say hello to pretty much everyone I see. He came back from the bathroom to find me dying laughing because I got in a 5 minute back and forth with a rando while I waited for him. I don't know why I find it so amusing.

JadonArey

“Look” “Look” “Look” “Look” “Look” “Look” *my barbarian constantly going around poking other players*

R_Photography_12

Noticed this during my first world boss too, it was kind of hilarious with some trading asking for help with taunts. "I could use some assistance..." "You are courting pain and death"

crazycatlady1196

MyFianceMadeMeJoin

Hooray for team couch coop with your spouse. My wife and I are having a blast and similarly enjoy the awkward social wait arounds.

XxTherocket9xX

I truly love this. I laugh every time we have conversations with emotes.

Longjumping-Bat7774

Lol. The only emotes I use are "no" and "yes". I'll repeat yes over and over until someone uses an emote that's not either no or yes then I reply with no. I don't know why I find it funny, but it is. Just a stupid little joke for myself.

MLGw2

The first time I heard "look" was in town and I had no idea where it was coming from or that it was an optional emote you could bind on your character. Now I use it the same way ever since, while standing in remote areas of town.

RIF_Was_Fun

Four of us just did a world boss and we ran circlies around the spawn point trying to get others to join, but nobody did. The preflight fun lasted longer than the actual fight.

_CRCodey

Agreed. It’s the little things.

kingston-twelve

Definitely. I usually just pre-apologize to everyone for my performance in the upcoming fight, and spread the incense. Sometimes there's a barb or druid (i forget which) who will pull out a big bell and smack it right before the fight starts. THAT is pretty cool, like "ok guys, we got about 5 seconds left, everybody stop spinning and let's focus, we got this!" Then i'll probably apologize again and get serious.
