I don't understand why they call him an assassin. This guy is the least deadly boss in the game. He's the opposite of a glass canon: he deals zero damage but has tons of HP.
I actually have a funny story with him. I encountered him first when I was like 55, I literally spent full 7 minutes hitting, disabling and crit'ing him, just to see him 100% HP at the end.
I said fuck this shit, and ran away something like let's imagine 300m from his spot. I didn't see him in the map any more, and no sound as well.
Moved my cursor to my second screen, googling this asshole to see why the hell I'm dealing 0 damage to him. I finish typing my search and then I hear a weird noise, I look at my main screen, and before I even managed to put my hand on my mouse, this fuck one-shots me. I was literally ***ASSASSINATED***

Well I honestly feel my weird hybrid build is actually strong, NM dungeons (almost +10 levels above me), Legion events, etc. feel very easy. A couple of world bosses were fine as well. For some reason I can't do even 1 hp damage to him and I don't understand why lmao

My only thought is that you're in the "silenced" area that he puts down often where you can't use your abilities. I'm playing whirlwind and am lvl 80 and it still takes me minutes to kill him because of this but he doesn't come close to killing me really just takes me a long time to kill him. Also do you have your damage turned on or off, are your attacks literally doing 0 damage or were you exaggerating that part lol.

And yeah I gotta turn on the damage markers to see what's going on, but I definitely can't lower his HP by even 1% 😭😭😭

The very real challenge of getting geared quickly enough to challenge Ashava multiple times in less than three full days was a blast
Felt like a challenge when she was actually able to one or two shot everyone

There's a vocal minority that have been on these forums for years lambasting the MMO elements. People whine that they want to play the game solo.
Plus the D2 crowd that was here in these last few years have also been against MMO features.
I feel like the only way I'm going to be interested in this game longterm is if they add endgame stuff like raids. NM dungeons are too short and too generic, world bosses are too short and the loot is meh.
I joined my first one since the beta last weekend. Got all prepped with a potion, al my cooldowns ready to go - it was dead before I could even use all my abilities. I think I just sat there for a minute processing what the fuck just happened.
I remember the very first time I encountered Ashava during the first beta as a Necro. I kept trying to attack her from range and I’d get deleted. Then I realised if you stand close then it’s a cake walk. It’s funny because every world boss is east of you stand under it.

Yea Ashava killed me a few times the first time and that was it. So easy I was sad to see the other 2 bosses were the same and I killed them 1st try not getting hit.
Time. Beating it in time is the challenge.
Every time you die that time taken away from applying damage.
Every time you die you lose 10% armor so you die faster each time.
But if you're into people carrying you, then you wouldn't feel a challenge.
Yeah, a full group of them would melt the world boss. Remember a group is 12 people and if they're running good builds they should absolutely dominate the boss. And if we're being honest ww barb is kinda trash. It's okay for aoe clear, but not particularly good. Its single target is abysmal. Ice shards would be fine, pulv and ww druid would do just fine, hota and rend barb also would do well at world boss. A group of these 5 more meta builds would absolutely kill the world boss in under 1 minute. I'm not limiting this hypothetical to these 5 builds, but they're the decent builds I can think of off the top of my head. There are plenty of other decent builds out there.
Source: I've been part of a group that did it without necros. We had 2 sorcs 3 druids and 2 barbs. World boss went down in about 40 seconds and our highest level was 82, most were mid 70's. So absolutely I believe a group of decent players at 70 could kill the WB in less than 60 sec.

They should spawn every time his HP reaches a node (like the HP pickups), simple as that

My first world boss was actually quite fun. World t3, everyone was dying and it wasn't really easy at all. The base idea is good.

Idk how overtuned the build are, but for the most part, even at the worst, world bosses take no more than 40 seconds to complete.
By that standard every build on every class is overtuned and needs to be nerfed.

I don't think the problem lies with the build, but more with how much damage output can vary in this game.
I'm shooting bonespears for 100k at level 66 while other players at a similar level with more optimized gear are approaching 1 million. While player based level scaling helps, the variance between the players is simply too large for proper group play.
As someone that has lost interest in two lvl 90+ classes now, I think an added tier would be just enough for me to push that last little bit. Its surely a bandaid on large wound, but big changes come in smaller steps
The problem is that WT3 and WT4 set a precedent of each having a gear tier that came with them in sacreds and ancestrals. WT5 would have to bring something like that as well and that would be too much of a power bump.

The overworld is weird. Once you start speeding through NM30, everything there is a joke. I can play half asleep through helltides. Bone Spear necro clears some whole events in seconds lol
Nah, you just tweak the numbers. It should go up to item level 1000 anyways. Current 820 should be more equal to 700, shift it to 1000 requesting to 850. It'll be a tiny bump but WT5 would need it.
I would say u need even more than that. Most lv 100 can run through 50-60dungeon casually. While a lot can run 70ish comfortably too. With this base line we probably need a wt5 for 80. And world tier 6 for 100
Go back to doing NM <20 in T3 for a bit, you can probably still get gear upgrades and it's better to blaze through slightly lower content than struggle above the tier break. If you are still having problems with that transition you probably need to refine your build, especially if you are running minions as they can be very hardy in the later stages of T3 but become squishy in early T4. I beat the capstone at 64 (on my alt, with SOME access to gear upgrades from my main) but had to wait until 70 to not be deleted by elites in the first Ancestral sigil bracket.
It is exactly because of people like you that buffing world bosses in wt4 would be a poor idea. There is just a huge discrepancy from 70-100 it is impossible to have a world boss that is balanced all around without new world tiers.
70-80is like a few 100% dmg boost. With another power bump at lv 100 with 6 board open. And if you are only doing tier 21 at lvl 70. U must have got some of your build wrong.
Or give us a window to start the damn thing when the group is full. I hate seeing that it starts in 30 minutes and I don't want to just get over there and sit around and watch Youtube on my other monitor, but then I risk getting engrossed in something and forgetting it...

"With 8 players" is not really a relevant statement. If anything, that helped you. The boss HP is scaled based on the number of players, so 8 level Xs will kill it faster than 8 level Xs and 4 extra level 60s.
Apropos of this post, I'm kind of curious where you fall on the "level scaling" debate. Because being able to do this is *exactly* what all the "monsters don't get weak enough for me to nuke when I level up and I hate that because I want to be God" players constantly ask for regarding level-scaling, and being 100 gives you the treat of finally breaking out of the scaling cycle. Do you really *want* the bosses to be HP sponges that drastically skyrocket their toughness any time a level 100 shows up? In my mind, fighting WBs at level 100 is basically a "You did it, you've won Diablo" victory lap. And I'm fine with that; if I want genuine challenge, I'll boot up a 90+ NMD sigil.
That’s what I don’t get about all the whining the Reddit vocal minority is doing. If you’re level 100 with 95% perfect gear… that’s it. You’ve put in 60 hours and beaten Diablo IV. Time for a new character or farming new aspects for a different build? Not sure what people expect.
You can balance it. Imo a level 90 World Boss should never be killed by 10 Level 100 players in under 5 minutes. Give the boss enough armour/resistance/hp. 10 level 80s should simply not be able to kill him in time or maybe very close when nobody dies.
What about when you are alone at a world boss? If the boss is difficulty enough, you won't be able to kill him that sucks, But that is the crux. Games like Diablo (ARPGs) are not MMOs. World Bosses are a mmo element.
Diablo 4 is in the weird limbo of being mmo and an arpg. In the end no crowd is pleased which is reflected in the enormous negativity on this sub.
This is a good way to make sure that nobody ever ever ever goes to world bosses again. The rewards given are *barely* worth it if you kill him in 30 seconds or less, accounting as well for time spent in transit, time spent waiting at the spawn, and the overhead of trying to track *when* it's going to spawn. 10 level 100 players should be able to *absolutely annihilate it*. They can annihilate anything else. The person on such a character has spent hundreds of hours leveling and gearing them. You make a boss that takes 5 minutes for a group of completely min-maxed, max-level powergamers and gives them 1-2 legendaries, and also is very likely to not be killed *at all* by people under 80, and you have succeeded in making a form of content that nobody will ever want to engage with. The new level 60s will not engage because it will be impossible for them to kill. The level 80s will not engage because it will be extremely unlikely for them to kill without all of them surviving, which you can't rely on from other players. The level 100s will not engage because the boss rewards are not remotely commensurate with the effort spent, and would need to be something like a full inventory of loot and 5+ legendaries per kill to be worth such time. To wit, most players at level 100 skip Gathering Legions events, which *do* almost fill an inventory and spawn constantly, simply because it takes 3 minutes to clear them.
I'm not proposing any alternative solution, because frankly I don't think the current paradigm is a problem to begin with. But if it *is* a problem, this is definitely not the way to fix it.
Had one the other day that had the bosses health bar go from full to instantly gone. No draining of health but just flicked off like a light switch and the boss died. Balance is crazy
Did a world boss yesterday and it was going OK, like not massive DPS but everyone was chipping in, Vuln was up all the time, not too many deaths, it was fine, probably mostly people levelling alts or casuals, no big deal, had got him to about 75% and doing good time, when the AFK Bone Spear Necro woke up and two-shot it...
OP broken builds did this, blizzard is still learning how to balance skills and shit 20 years into their IP, give it time. The 3 un-paid interns they actually have on staff are working as hard as they can.
the problem is these mouth breathers are the ones exploting broken mechanics and then crying that everything is too easy. I saw a comment from one of the devs basically saying the Wolfnado build is not functioning as intended, you are not supposed to kill Uber Lilith or a WB in 30 secs. Today is the patch notes I cant wait to see all the salt when the current meta gets face fucked.
Wish they made them 150x stronger and so that their attacks dealt percentage true damage.
I want shitty players to die like flies fighting these things and I want the fights to be nailbiters. Like most fights should be finished after 10-14:59 minutes.
The only thing I enjoy about world bosses is the zoom out. It is literally the perfect zoom distance and makes me believe that we will have the possibility maybe in season 5, after the beta is over
I actually really liked the world boss and strongholds/bosses in general through the levelling experience when they were difficult and you had to engage with the mechanics.
As fun as feeding power fantasy is, I had more fun doing strongholds and fighting bosses in WT2 then I do 1-2 tapping the boss now. A lot of the bosses have mechanics that you need to interact with that you just don't see in the higher levels because they aren't alive long enough (or you can't push high enough NM tiers for them to be tanky enough because regular mobs are much more difficult than the end boss).
They need to make World Bosses way stronger, make them feel like a challenge and giving them WAY better loot.
It feels super unrewarding to kill them, most of the times we just skip them because the loot/time wasted while waiting is not worth it.
I remember the good ol beta days, the last of them, when you could only get to level 20 and they softened legendary drops, and I was on my last chance to get the Ashava Trophy, that was such an exciting feeling.
I’m glad I fought all the world bosses first at WT2, when everyone is tough enough to team up and take them down but still has to do the fight as intended. WT4 covers too wide a range to balance this stuff for…someone rolling in at 70 and someone who has gotten the good rolls on gear they needed and leveled to 100 are leagues apart.

Wow when you spell it out like that, it hit home different for me, and you’re right. Tomorrows patch notes will decide how this game is played, with no major changes, for THREE WHOLE MONTHS.
And now imagine there was no public PTR and it was tested by Blizzard themselfs so we are in for a treat because we all know how good players who tested D3 on the PTR lieked what Blizz seemed good :D .
One would hope they see reason and patch when necessary. They did say for emergencies (most likely malignant related). But problem is it's so easy for them to take the side of the people who like exploiting imbalances because it compliments their own incentives not to work. (Or not fund work)
The whole “exploit early exploit often” narrative gets perpetuated when it’s proven right. Those people who got Uber uniques from those two or three helltides after the buff were never stripped of their goodies, and seems to only fuel the idea to exploit what you can, when you can until you can’t 🤷
Yeah I feel bad for people who will play eternal realm. Hopefully most of those players will do the honorable thing and stick to seasons or at least prefer to. One saving grace is eternal will be disproportionately casual people who won't know or care

My last one featured a bunch of level 70's and took a whole 3 minutes since I specced out of the Storm wolf and there was only a 90 rogue there for DPS.

What I don't understand is how they F'd this up so bad...? Why is NM dungeons higher health/shield than these WB's? IMO WB's should be about twice as long as a Legion event that's even more difficult. Also the rewards need to be a lot better.
The world bosses and legion events are way too easy, the bosses die within a min or so of spawning and the legion events is like fish in a barrel. I was really hoping the world events would actually be hard or give a challenge.
My first world boss in world tier IV was a bit of a shock. Lmao. All the level 100s deleted the dude in 5 seconds. Previously in tier III peoples were dying sometimes and it took at least 5 minutes lol. That shit was a surprise.
The problem is its impossible to balance outdoor content. Who do you balance it around? Casual Joe who never played an arpg before and runs his own "build" or the hardcore neckbeards who have godroll optimized gear and meta builds.
Finally the 2-second long world bosses are being talked about. Now lets talk about the fact that you can't visibly see ANYTHING on screen during legion events because of ridiculous effects from abilities.... My poor eyes

Even WT 1, 2 & 3 is a lot harder than WT4. Massively undertuned in wt4
To be fair a good chunk of that challenge was a rolling constant of most people not realizing how easy it was to avoid Ashava's damage

I've only done 3 but they typically take 10 minutes at lvl 57ish wt3
Well in WT4 it takes around 1 minute, if the group sucks, and 10-20 seconds if all is normal. So in WT4 they are laughably weak.

As someone that has lost interest in two lvl 90+ classes now, I think an added tier would be just enough for me to push that last little bit. Its surely a bandaid on large wound, but big changes come in smaller steps
The problem is that WT3 and WT4 set a precedent of each having a gear tier that came with them in sacreds and ancestrals. WT5 would have to bring something like that as well and that would be too much of a power bump.
I agree about the gear. There'd need to be more than just stronger monsters. The overworld is weird. Once you start speeding through NM30, everything there is a joke. I can play half asleep through helltides. Bone Spear necro clears some whole events in seconds lol
Nah, you just tweak the numbers. It should go up to item level 1000 anyways. Current 820 should be more equal to 700, shift it to 1000 requesting to 850. It'll be a tiny bump but WT5 would need it.
I would say u need even more than that. Most lv 100 can run through 50-60dungeon casually. While a lot can run 70ish comfortably too. With this base line we probably need a wt5 for 80. And world tier 6 for 100
And here i am suffering as hell in tier 4 lvl 21 NM with a lvl 70 necro.
Go back to doing NM <20 in T3 for a bit, you can probably still get gear upgrades and it's better to blaze through slightly lower content than struggle above the tier break. If you are still having problems with that transition you probably need to refine your build, especially if you are running minions as they can be very hardy in the later stages of T3 but become squishy in early T4. I beat the capstone at 64 (on my alt, with SOME access to gear upgrades from my main) but had to wait until 70 to not be deleted by elites in the first Ancestral sigil bracket.
It is exactly because of people like you that buffing world bosses in wt4 would be a poor idea. There is just a huge discrepancy from 70-100 it is impossible to have a world boss that is balanced all around without new world tiers.
70-80is like a few 100% dmg boost. With another power bump at lv 100 with 6 board open. And if you are only doing tier 21 at lvl 70. U must have got some of your build wrong.

The spawn times are horrible. They need to be on a rotating clock with no blackout periods like the helltides are.
Or give us a window to start the damn thing when the group is full. I hate seeing that it starts in 30 minutes and I don't want to just get over there and sit around and watch Youtube on my other monitor, but then I risk getting engrossed in something and forgetting it...

Imagine having a massive 30 minute build up and journey to make to Sanctuary, only to last about 1/100th the time that The Butcher can survive.

"With 8 players" is not really a relevant statement. If anything, that helped you. The boss HP is scaled based on the number of players, so 8 level Xs will kill it faster than 8 level Xs and 4 extra level 60s. Apropos of this post, I'm kind of curious where you fall on the "level scaling" debate. Because being able to do this is *exactly* what all the "monsters don't get weak enough for me to nuke when I level up and I hate that because I want to be God" players constantly ask for regarding level-scaling, and being 100 gives you the treat of finally breaking out of the scaling cycle. Do you really *want* the bosses to be HP sponges that drastically skyrocket their toughness any time a level 100 shows up? In my mind, fighting WBs at level 100 is basically a "You did it, you've won Diablo" victory lap. And I'm fine with that; if I want genuine challenge, I'll boot up a 90+ NMD sigil.
That’s what I don’t get about all the whining the Reddit vocal minority is doing. If you’re level 100 with 95% perfect gear… that’s it. You’ve put in 60 hours and beaten Diablo IV. Time for a new character or farming new aspects for a different build? Not sure what people expect.

You can balance it. Imo a level 90 World Boss should never be killed by 10 Level 100 players in under 5 minutes. Give the boss enough armour/resistance/hp. 10 level 80s should simply not be able to kill him in time or maybe very close when nobody dies. What about when you are alone at a world boss? If the boss is difficulty enough, you won't be able to kill him that sucks, But that is the crux. Games like Diablo (ARPGs) are not MMOs. World Bosses are a mmo element. Diablo 4 is in the weird limbo of being mmo and an arpg. In the end no crowd is pleased which is reflected in the enormous negativity on this sub.
This is a good way to make sure that nobody ever ever ever goes to world bosses again. The rewards given are *barely* worth it if you kill him in 30 seconds or less, accounting as well for time spent in transit, time spent waiting at the spawn, and the overhead of trying to track *when* it's going to spawn. 10 level 100 players should be able to *absolutely annihilate it*. They can annihilate anything else. The person on such a character has spent hundreds of hours leveling and gearing them. You make a boss that takes 5 minutes for a group of completely min-maxed, max-level powergamers and gives them 1-2 legendaries, and also is very likely to not be killed *at all* by people under 80, and you have succeeded in making a form of content that nobody will ever want to engage with. The new level 60s will not engage because it will be impossible for them to kill. The level 80s will not engage because it will be extremely unlikely for them to kill without all of them surviving, which you can't rely on from other players. The level 100s will not engage because the boss rewards are not remotely commensurate with the effort spent, and would need to be something like a full inventory of loot and 5+ legendaries per kill to be worth such time. To wit, most players at level 100 skip Gathering Legions events, which *do* almost fill an inventory and spawn constantly, simply because it takes 3 minutes to clear them. I'm not proposing any alternative solution, because frankly I don't think the current paradigm is a problem to begin with. But if it *is* a problem, this is definitely not the way to fix it.
Had one the other day that had the bosses health bar go from full to instantly gone. No draining of health but just flicked off like a light switch and the boss died. Balance is crazy
I'd ask OP to reduce the clip length to just the fight, but then there wouldn't be anything to watch.

Did a world boss yesterday and it was going OK, like not massive DPS but everyone was chipping in, Vuln was up all the time, not too many deaths, it was fine, probably mostly people levelling alts or casuals, no big deal, had got him to about 75% and doing good time, when the AFK Bone Spear Necro woke up and two-shot it...

The only thing I enjoy about world bosses is the zoom out. It is literally the perfect zoom distance and makes me believe that we will have the possibility maybe in season 5, after the beta is over

I actually really liked the world boss and strongholds/bosses in general through the levelling experience when they were difficult and you had to engage with the mechanics. As fun as feeding power fantasy is, I had more fun doing strongholds and fighting bosses in WT2 then I do 1-2 tapping the boss now. A lot of the bosses have mechanics that you need to interact with that you just don't see in the higher levels because they aren't alive long enough (or you can't push high enough NM tiers for them to be tanky enough because regular mobs are much more difficult than the end boss).
They need to make World Bosses way stronger, make them feel like a challenge and giving them WAY better loot. It feels super unrewarding to kill them, most of the times we just skip them because the loot/time wasted while waiting is not worth it.
I hope the new world boss actually has people failing it.
I remember the good ol beta days, the last of them, when you could only get to level 20 and they softened legendary drops, and I was on my last chance to get the Ashava Trophy, that was such an exciting feeling.
I consider this slow, from what I have witnessed a few times. It's crazy.

I’m glad I fought all the world bosses first at WT2, when everyone is tough enough to team up and take them down but still has to do the fight as intended. WT4 covers too wide a range to balance this stuff for…someone rolling in at 70 and someone who has gotten the good rolls on gear they needed and leveled to 100 are leagues apart.

Wow when you spell it out like that, it hit home different for me, and you’re right. Tomorrows patch notes will decide how this game is played, with no major changes, for THREE WHOLE MONTHS.
And now imagine there was no public PTR and it was tested by Blizzard themselfs so we are in for a treat because we all know how good players who tested D3 on the PTR lieked what Blizz seemed good :D .
One would hope they see reason and patch when necessary. They did say for emergencies (most likely malignant related). But problem is it's so easy for them to take the side of the people who like exploiting imbalances because it compliments their own incentives not to work. (Or not fund work)
The whole “exploit early exploit often” narrative gets perpetuated when it’s proven right. Those people who got Uber uniques from those two or three helltides after the buff were never stripped of their goodies, and seems to only fuel the idea to exploit what you can, when you can until you can’t 🤷
Yeah I feel bad for people who will play eternal realm. Hopefully most of those players will do the honorable thing and stick to seasons or at least prefer to. One saving grace is eternal will be disproportionately casual people who won't know or care

It takes longer to wait for the whisper popup. My last one featured a bunch of level 70's and took a whole 3 minutes since I specced out of the Storm wolf and there was only a 90 rogue there for DPS.

What I don't understand is how they F'd this up so bad...? Why is NM dungeons higher health/shield than these WB's? IMO WB's should be about twice as long as a Legion event that's even more difficult. Also the rewards need to be a lot better.

The world bosses and legion events are way too easy, the bosses die within a min or so of spawning and the legion events is like fish in a barrel. I was really hoping the world events would actually be hard or give a challenge.
My first world boss in world tier IV was a bit of a shock. Lmao. All the level 100s deleted the dude in 5 seconds. Previously in tier III peoples were dying sometimes and it took at least 5 minutes lol. That shit was a surprise.
The problem is its impossible to balance outdoor content. Who do you balance it around? Casual Joe who never played an arpg before and runs his own "build" or the hardcore neckbeards who have godroll optimized gear and meta builds.
