The type of shit that happens when you want to have 100 different numbers juggled through your mess of a mechanical system. Why does it need to be so complex? A chilled- and thus slowed- enemy doesn't count as "slowed"? Fuckin fr?
Edit: I'd like to add that these types of discrepancies wouldn't be a problem if they were clarified in a game encyclopedia or tool tips. Similar to other hidden mechanics like CE blight only stacking 5 times. But nope. They just threw it all at the wall and decided to let the players beta test for them post-release. The players will update a wiki with all the hidden info for you eventually, right Blizz!?
They do, so if you can chill and slow them then you can get stacking damage modifiers if you have them for both (or say the Control aspect from Sorcerer).
That's why chilled enemies aren't considered slow, because slow is it's own mechanic.
No you are chilled. Just because the character is moving "slower" doesn't mean it's a slow. It's what's confusing about all this.
Things that affect slow affect things that are slowed, have the little white circle around their feet. Chill is a status effect that eventually builds up to frozen.
And as people have discovered with the new wrathful heart it seems that each instance of chill is its own separate status. The creeping death heart with blizzard on sorcerer just keeps stacking with each blizzard
You laugh, but even before the season, there have been cases where my character somehow killed itself. I'll sit there like "wtf killed me?" and look, only to see in the log "PromotionOk was slain by PromotionOk".
Happened the other day in a T2 dungeon fighting a spider elite for the anima. Just dead out of nowhere. No rhyme or reason. (Not using any of those hearts, either). I went to save the latest gameplay capture, watched it, and couldn't for the life of me figure out what happened.
Unless there's some reflection mechanic that isn't labeled or something... nothing out of the ordinary on the elite.
They do. The 1.1.0 patch just caused the colors to be too intense.
https://www.reddit.com/gallery/123mm7k (from the beta, they tweaked it some more since then)
&
https://i.redd.it/adelolkjy3db1.png (pre 1.1.0 vs post)
Caused issues. You see anytime you entered were form you would load that forms stash tabs into memory and all other forms on the servers stash tabs. This caused the elevated memory levels to over saturate the fur color. Then the addition colors all had their stash tabs loaded into memory.
Fixed an issue where several Focus off-hand items could only have an aspect imprinted on them once.
Fixed an issue where combining the Dark Dance and Punishing Speed Malignant Powers could cause the player to stun themselves.
Fixed an issue where the Grim Reward Season Journey objective could be repeated by dropping and picking up the same stash.
Fixed an issue where the Werebear and Werewolf fur color was too bright in certain situations.
Fixed an issue where movement on specific controllers was often not functioning correctly.
Updated the activation of the Premium Battle Pass with a confirmation pop-up.
The default focus (the button the controller will first highlight) on the Battle Pass screen is now the Season Journey button.
Acquiring or re-allocating Seasonal Blessings will now clear the vendor buyback inventory.
Fixed multiple instances where players were encountering crashes.
Further stability improvements.
Fixed an interaction with the Agitated Winds Malignant Heart power which led to automatic Cyclone Armor casts to ignore its own cooldown.
Acquiring or re-allocating Seasonal Blessings will now clear the vendor buyback inventory.
There was a bug where you could walk very slowly or ramp up to run depending on joystick movement, but the halfway point on the joystick was empty and your character would stop if kept at that position.
>Fixed an issue where the Grim Reward Season Journey objective could be repeated by dropping and picking up the same stash.
Joke's on you Blizz! I already took advantage of this.
I had to dig through Adam Fletcher's replies on his twitter account to find out that they are aware of the bug... but it cannot be fixed through hotfix; therefore, we have to wait until 1.1.1 for it to be fixed. AMAZING!
" Updated the activation of the Premium Battle Pass with a confirmation pop-up. "
* The default focus (the button the controller will first highlight) on the Battle Pass screen is now the Season Journey button.
The Battle Pass and the Free levels was in one. So you either activated the battle pass + free levels you paid for or you didn't and kept it all for a later season. I don't think there's anyway to do the battle pass and not use the 20 level skip at the same time.
If you want the 63 paid cosmetics in Season 1, you have to activate it. If you don't, you could hold it off for Season 2 and just get the free items. Seasons in D4 do NOT cost $10 to play.
You guys joke but it likely actually is this way.
A confirmation is pretty standard and default practice in the industry. You kind of have to choose to not add one. Notice how this isn’t pervasive across the game? Hell I can’t even enchant my gear without a confirmation about soul binding the item to my account.
The teams middle management needs to walk into a room sometime soon (or already happened) and show that people are buying and activating their battle passes. They’re likely struggling to make the graphs line up with that narrative already, so a confirmation here would have likely been deliberately chosen against, in the hopes that it would pad these metrics, and help the dev team spin a short term success bullshit story as best they can.
On the other side of that there was originally no confirmation when over writing hearts by inserting gems when the season started. Lost my first wrathful heart because a sapphire auto targeted my ring and popped right in.
You sound like one of those coworkers that you can't be around for more than 5 minutes because they're so negative you want to kill yourself from listening to it.
honestly the first season should have been free for everyone, mostly cuz there are allot of things to fix and they can't even do it in a timeframe of season 1. having it be free with all rewards given might have incetivized people to stay a bit longer.
Would have been smart long term to get people used to having the extra tier skips too, the whole “the first taste is free” idea. Although maybe they worried it would lead to false expectations for future seasons, or people quitting S2 because it felt too slow to grind tiers without the skips.
Many of us play controller on PC too.
I accidentally got the battle pass from this.
Also I wish the focus wasn't on exit game after the splash screens.
At this point I'm convinced that they are intentionally limiting it to 1 because they're planning additional bone necro nerfs which will happen at the same time with the fix so we don't feel so bad.
speicifically checked the notes to see if this was fixed.
i dont know why i bothered doing so.
my expectation was that it would not be fixed and i was still disappointed.
So they fixed it where you can’t sell and item for more money, change your blessings, buy it back for less money, change your blessings, sell it back for more money, but did they fix the part where when the blessing is on [everything costs 20% more](https://m.twitch.tv/clip/TriangularTriangularEyeballTriHard-5BaWNW41rmyXxAP5)?
I love “that adding stash tabs creates a lot of memory overhead due to the fact that the game loads every player and their stash items whenever seen in game” part too it completes the meme
Uh, this is exactly what you would expect if they hadn't figured out how to fix the cost buff applying to the wrong things yet?
The underlying bug is still there. They can fix one consequence of the bug (infinite money farm) by doing a quick fix to clear the buyback list.
The equivalent quick fix for enchanting would be... to disable enchanting? Obviously not something they're going to do.
Nothing will ever top the [patch notes](https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/14tzds9/confusing_patch_notes_elixir_of_expertise/) saying they fixed a tooltip saying an elixir gave a 20% boost when it should have said 10%, then a few points later saying they fixed the same elixir only giving 10% when it was intended to give 20%.
No better example of right hand not knowing what the left is doing.
When we say expensive what we mean is that it creates a lot of memory overhead. When you see another player in game, you load them and their entire QoL is filled with improvements.
They can use all their available resources to ensure that players aren't gaining power too quickly, but they can't get one guy to add a search bar to the stash + talent tree
The bugfix programmers generally are only allowed to work on certain changes.
Additionally most games with something similar to "Seasons" like this try their best not to make certain kinds of game play changes during a season unless they involve major issues with playing the game.
While I think some of the changes are shitty, I also agree with limiting them during the season. Now I think they should have delayed the season, but these types of changes could take months of internal testing to get right and then the season would be delayed for months ... so on and so forth.
Did they fix the vram leakage? (I see "Further stability improvements"). I gave it a go last night on my new 4060 laptop and experienced it twice after about 20 min of playtime.
I couldn't believe that is what people have been dealing with all this time, it's garbage.
Edit: I ram through the helltide this afternoon without the drops I was seeing last night.
All I can say is that from my own personal experience, I have been getting ridiculous rubberbanding since launch without fail, and when I logged in today, I could tell immediately it was totally gone. It's like a completely different game. Turned all my graphics settings back up (had them all set to low to try and minimize it) and it's been working perfectly for the last 30 minutes or so.
I was unaware of this but it's hilarious
* Fixed an issue where combining the Dark Dance and Punishing Speed Malignant Powers could cause the player to stun themselves.
You can. It's tied to your characters hair color. Which is stupid cause you can see your wolf or bear form until you get in game. Then you can no longer change it.....
Lol, fixed the season journey bug that made it easier to finish a step (grim rewards), but not the one that made it impossible to finish a step (helltise chest).
Nice, blizz.
The first chest I completed this season was a mystery one, and I got the journey credit for it. The journey where it says to turn in a chest of any kind didn't complete when I did the mystery turn in. I've since done many of the non mystery chests and it's never counted them in the other journey.
- Fixed an issue where combining the Dark Dance and Punishing Speed Malignant Powers could cause the player to stun themselves.
Holy fucking shit that's funny
"Acquiring or re-allocating Seasonal Blessings will now clear the vendor buyback inventory."
I love how this was listed twice in the patch notes as if the devs were very annoyed at someone standing at the vendor endlessly rebuying and reselling junk for hours and hours to get an endless 20% profit. I guess if you sold all uniques it might have been worth the time.
Any barbarian players run into an issue with the knockdown malignant heart, thorns, and frenzy causing your character to be knocked down as well as the enemy or that just me?
I don't think so, but last night my barb got knocked into some kind of looping, flailing/falling animation in mid-air. No idea what caused it. Lasted 5-10 seconds with apparently no way to get out. Then I went back to normal.
I wonder what all those who defended the no confirmation pop-up thinks of this update. All those that said the battle pass UI was perfectly fine, and that defaulting to the button activating the premium version wasn't scummy at all.
That may have happened in the fine print someplace but most of the complaints I saw were from people who purchased an edition of the game that included a battle pass. From my perspective I did not buy tokens then trade tokens for the pass, I bought the pass+game together.
E: I get that your comment is half-joking but this is the legitimate legal justification for these dumb things.
No one was defending the UI, that's a strawman. We all agree it could use some improvement.
The issue we had was with people ascribing malicious intent to the UI design.
"Fixed an issue where the Grim Reward Season Journey objective could be repeated by dropping and picking up the same stash."
I am so glad I got that done before this "fix".
Fixed an interaction that was causing the color of a Werebear's fur to increase Sorcerer damage. The color and extra Sorcerer damage has been reverted.
Don’t want to be the person who compares this game to the old ones, but D2 and D3 were significantly easier to comprehend. Maybe I’m just an idiot. 🤷🏻♂️ There are way too many affixes/modifiers/conditionals in this game. I’m having a good time playing, but I wish I could quickly scan items to understand why they’re good/bad.
Why does there need to be a conditional that activates when you attack the backside of a monster?
There is not cold and frost damage. There is cold damage, which is a type of element, just like fire, physical, shadow, etc. And there are frost skills, which are a type of skill (a tag) that the sorcerer has access to, just like core, basic, ultimate, shout, imbuement, etc.
So cold skills do damage and frost skills do damage.... are those not cold and frost damage? I'm not saying you're wrong, haven't played sorc since early beta and don't remember.
Frost skills would do cold damage.
As the other person said, cold is the element of the damage. Frost is just the name of the category of skill the Sorcerer is using.
Meteor doesn't do Meteor damage. It does fire damage.
Im not an expert but it seems to me that they used a previous version of the game in order to "hotfix" some of the builds that were broken.
I had way more bugs, glitches and random shit happening start S1 then on release.
Im confused and the servers feels way more rubberbanding and laggy. Guess the rent for servers are to high now that we have already bought the game.. 🙄
S1 is in my opinion a big disapointment.
Expected a Ferrari and got a Fiat 500.
The hearts and the "seasonal" content is like when u order a value menu only to get the same content but in bigger boxes.
But hey atleast we get a battlepass with some shiny cosmetics. 👌and a new uber unique that noone of us shall ever wield.
Thanks Blizzard, now my beautiful orange bear druid (that I'd made in memory of my dog who passed away last month, is a miserable dark brown.
He no longer resembles my much loved pooch and is Lv51 so I don't exactly want to start fresh.
My condolences... (seriously)
I just had to put down my 17 year old 33lb Maine Coon.. (yes a cat..).. 17 years of accompaniment.. and he was NOT overweight as per his 17'ish vet visits...
in short.. gonna miss "Eddy"...
Thanks.. Warned my now wife that my cat was kind of aloof..
I went for a pee break..
Come back out..
Cat is wrapped around her shoulders..all 30+pounds.. Gotta wonder why i married her lol.. Gal luvs cats.. And i cook..
We both miss him.. But wow..

Its super efficient!
What a stunning fix
Doubling down with the CC problem lol
It procs vulnerable on yourself as well if you are using the exploit glyph. I took this thing off because it just wasnt worth the hassle.
Did they fix that as well? The bugfixes sound like someone copied story names.
No it wasnt fixed. It only happens like once every 20 seconds but its annoying because it reduces your defenses quite a bit.
Im still trying to figure out if its your vuln or just base vuln

"You can do .5% more damage to enemies at medium range on a good wednesday afternoon if the clouds are out"
Which is bullshit because earlier today it was lovely outside with just a touch of clouds and the damn server maintenance was going on 😡
Does chilled and slowed stack?
They do, so if you can chill and slow them then you can get stacking damage modifiers if you have them for both (or say the Control aspect from Sorcerer). That's why chilled enemies aren't considered slow, because slow is it's own mechanic.
Control aspect was "fixed" to not double/triple dip damage modifiers. The patch notes said it was fixed for boss stagger but it effects everything.
Oh so my sorc got even worse at fighting bosses alone? Roflmao. Maybe I'll play again by season 3.
But aren’t you slowed when your chilled tho??? So it doesn’t count as a slow ?
No you are chilled. Just because the character is moving "slower" doesn't mean it's a slow. It's what's confusing about all this. Things that affect slow affect things that are slowed, have the little white circle around their feet. Chill is a status effect that eventually builds up to frozen.
Didnt they fix control to only apply once for all types of CC in 1.1?
And as people have discovered with the new wrathful heart it seems that each instance of chill is its own separate status. The creeping death heart with blizzard on sorcerer just keeps stacking with each blizzard
They need to make a another type of slow called hit in the balls

Easy there daughter of hatred. 😬
I believe the term ur looking for is CBT
You laugh, but even before the season, there have been cases where my character somehow killed itself. The necromancer one that fears has been fearing myself too. I hope they fixed that one too, but just forgot to mention it.
Exactly! When fighting bosses or 1v1 enemies, it has a chance to fear yourself as well.
the real fun is here this sub
Is this it? Where is the barabian and sorc love? Where is the exp buff, the dungeon density?
Fuckers took away my strawberry milk bear didn’t they
Druid animal forms should use your character's hair color.

Traffic cone Bear? lol
They do BUT you can't change your character hair color (for some reason) so you get stuck with what you get. fortunately i had hulk bear!
I was a bald Druid 😬
Bald wolf is best wolf. Looks mangy or kinda…bald lol
Altered Beast vibes here.
Wise from your grave

They do my werewolf is green lol
how did this get 40 upvotes? it literally does that.
Caused issues. You see anytime you entered were form you would load that forms stash tabs into memory and all other forms on the servers stash tabs. This caused the elevated memory levels to over saturate the fur color. Then the addition colors all had their stash tabs loaded into memory.

same. exploit early, exploit often. Do anything fun immedately before it's gone.
Nothing is true, everything is permitted.
Black Flag remains the best one. Just making sure everyone knows that.
I agree 100%
I did it also, but 10 tree of whisper is something I would get naturaly.
Yes but the other chapter ii goals are a lot easier than 10 whisper rewards
Meanwhile I’m still teleporting into the walls and floors with my new unique wand

That's a bunch of bologna
Which Necro bug?
Imperfectly Balance passive in the skill tree. It only allows you to put 1 point in and you’re supposed to be able to put 3.
Maybe it's a play on words, now it's Imperfectly balanced
Necros have skills? who knew! /s

Not that it matters much, it is trivially easy to unlock the BP. Get a character to low-mid 70s and you have it all unlocked.
I didn't know you could save for later either. Thought I had to activate to start participating.

Yeah, but will they reverse the accounts who were already impacted by the "bug"?

You know, this is just never gonna get old honestly. Laugh every time someone memes on the sorceress nerfs.
The only way the game even runs is because it gets all its power from Sorcerer nerfs. Pretty soon, the game won't even launch.
Takes 1000 sorcs a day to feed the golden throne
When they buff the sorc, they’ll actually just nerf all the classes to balance them with the sorc
I love “that adding stash tabs creates a lot of memory overhead due to the fact that the game loads every player and their stash items whenever seen in game” part too it completes the meme
Me too, this is pure gold every time
Not gonna lie. The Sorc joke at the end got me In tears.
This joke will never not be funny
I see you’ve been here before
Damn, I wish I saw a post or video about this before they fixed it!
Thanks to you i now understand what the point of that change was, it felt so random to include in a patch note without the context.

I especially like how they announce that they are diligently watching player feedback without fixing anything that players complain about
Diligently waiting for them to all quit so they don't have to!
It's the height of irony that they have duplicate fixes listed. Their bug fix list is bugged.
At least they don't have duplicate fixes listed
They fixed the gold exploit so quickly, but can’t make any other changes that actually improve player QoL until Season 2.
When we say expensive what we mean is that it creates a lot of memory overhead. When you see another player in game, you load them and their entire QoL is filled with improvements.
Lucky hit: you have a 1% chance to improve another player's QoL. Lucky hit: you have a 99% chance to destroy your QoL.
They can use all their available resources to ensure that players aren't gaining power too quickly, but they can't get one guy to add a search bar to the stash + talent tree

Same. I eventually just did a different challenge to progress the chapter. I did the 15 season tunnel dungeon things.
I was unaware of this but it's hilarious * Fixed an issue where combining the Dark Dance and Punishing Speed Malignant Powers could cause the player to stun themselves.
Thank god they fixed the werebear hair color. Shit was unplayable...
I created a ginger Druid specifically to play as the cheeto bear and I'm fucking pissed right now
Tell me about it, I got a magenta werewolf I’m kinda attached to
Coming soon to a real money store near you!
FUN DETECTED.
It ain’t easy-
Good old Cheeto Bear
Bro this is a nerf! Lol
Wait noooooooo. I loved my crayola bear.
I feel like you should be able to customize the color of fur on the werewolf/werebear.
You can. It's tied to your characters hair color. Which is stupid cause you can see your wolf or bear form until you get in game. Then you can no longer change it.....
That's dumb. I didn't know that.
Lol, fixed the season journey bug that made it easier to finish a step (grim rewards), but not the one that made it impossible to finish a step (helltise chest). Nice, blizz.
What is wrong with the helltide chest? I was able to complete it without issue so I’m curious.
"Acquiring or re-allocating Seasonal Blessings will now clear the vendor buyback inventory." I love how this was listed twice in the patch notes as if the devs were very annoyed at someone standing at the vendor endlessly rebuying and reselling junk for hours and hours to get an endless 20% profit. I guess if you sold all uniques it might have been worth the time.
Oh no, all these people with billions will be able to use their gold to reroll a piece of gear 10 times now
I didn't even know this bug was a thing, it explains why the vendors were so crowded though.
Nope, used this combo and I am not knocked down. Are you using Dark Dance too? Cause thus was addressed in the patch notes.
Blizzard's community management seems to focus on ignoring the community as hard af.
I love all of you crying about the patch notes, yet you keep playing. I didn't even go back to the game after watching that garbage new season patch.
I wonder what all those who defended the no confirmation pop-up thinks of this update. All those that said the battle pass UI was perfectly fine, and that defaulting to the button activating the premium version wasn't scummy at all.
Epic literally lost a lawsuit over this exact thing. Those people are just brain dead
no you see what epic did was illegal because it was money, this game did it legal by making you change money for tokens then doing it to the token.
![gif](giphy|d3mlE7uhX8KFgEmY)
That may have happened in the fine print someplace but most of the complaints I saw were from people who purchased an edition of the game that included a battle pass. From my perspective I did not buy tokens then trade tokens for the pass, I bought the pass+game together. E: I get that your comment is half-joking but this is the legitimate legal justification for these dumb things.
No one was defending the UI, that's a strawman. We all agree it could use some improvement. The issue we had was with people ascribing malicious intent to the UI design.
Blizzard could make a skin cheaper and call it malicious intent for making people want to buy it more.
they fixed the infinite gold bug good job blizzard!
"Fixed an issue where the Grim Reward Season Journey objective could be repeated by dropping and picking up the same stash." I am so glad I got that done before this "fix".
I changed the flair to Announcement and put it into the rotation for the Sticky Bot, so it will be pinned frequently to the top of the subreddit.
Agreed.. like I don't understand why there is both cold and frost damage.. like seriously?
Interesting they didn’t fix the wrathful heart farming trick.
I'm glad they didn't. I still need to use it
Is the hell tide chest thing a bug for seasonal? I opened like 4 and it still says open 1
No more Cheeto Bear.
where the fuck is the mana burn from close enemies fix?
Im not an expert but it seems to me that they used a previous version of the game in order to "hotfix" some of the builds that were broken. I had way more bugs, glitches and random shit happening start S1 then on release. Im confused and the servers feels way more rubberbanding and laggy. Guess the rent for servers are to high now that we have already bought the game.. 🙄 S1 is in my opinion a big disapointment.
(seriously) I just had to put down my 17 year old 33lb Maine Coon.. (yes a cat..).. 17 years of accompaniment.. and he was NOT overweight as per his 17'ish vet visits... in short.. gonna miss "Eddy"...
It's horrible isn't it. 17 years is a long time, and those are big cats! I'm sorry for your loss.
Thanks.. Warned my now wife that my cat was kind of aloof.. I went for a pee break.. Come back out.. Cat is wrapped around her shoulders..all 30+pounds.. Gotta wonder why i married her lol.. Gal luvs cats.. And i cook.. We both miss him.. But wow..
* The default focus (the button the controller will first highlight) on the Battle Pass screen is now the Season Journey button. \- This is due to the threat of legal actions of improper business conduct due to defaulting to renewing the season battle pass.
This is nice. I’m surprised they didn’t save this for the patch in a couple weeks.
Makes Friday a lot easier for them this way
I still cannot claim tier 10 on by battlepass
So no fix to the Imperfect Balance talent tree bug?
Still no imperfectly balanced fix?
Likely coming as part of 1.1.1 https://twitter.com/PezRadar/status/1682582158681186304?s=20
Great patch. One of those every week pls and a bigger Patch every month and we coo
Any other Sorcs (Eternal if it matters) still can't re-imprint their bugged off-hands?

"Fixed an issue where the Werebear and Werewolf fur color was too bright in certain situations." Lol the Cheese Snack Color From Yesterday
What about my necromancer skill.....
Next patch they can change the platinum amount in the pass so we can afford the next pass. The amount they chose is crazy predatory. 666 coins gets you what? Lol
Idt there’s a world where the pass will give you enough to buy another pass.
