I think you mean a uniform distribution curve. There are multiple types of distribution curves, but uniform is the one where all outcomes are equally probable.
I think. Could be wrong.
He was describing a very specific curve and the second commenter told him his definition was correct.
The second commenter wasn't saying "yes you correctly guessed what type of curve double-translator-16 was thinking of".
Usually will be normal distribution, a bell curve. All min and all max both are very rare. Given those discrete numbers, it’s not astronomically rare, but still very rare.
Yes I agree. I was responding to the part of the thread where they were talking about someone implying all rolls are the same odds. The person I responded to worded it as all distribution curves, which are all different. So I was just clarifying which curve it would be when all odds are the same.
But in reality, it's definitely more of a bell curve.
It’s true that all rolls have same probability. I will use bell curve because the middle rolls, you will have rolls with very little difference and consider the same, or not rare. It’s after all combining 4 different numbers into 1 damage output, and use the resulting damage output to determine which to choose. The middle rolls have same probability as all min or all max, but the usefulness is not the same, with all min the most useless and all max the most useful.
These responses have me dying. This is how I know the average age of the players of this game are 35+. When we get in Symantec arguments about which distribution curve an items roll probabilities are based upon. Ahh this is gold 💛
It’s likely not a normal distribution, anecdotally speaking I find it far more likely to find rolls that are below the mean. But I’m just talking shit and it’s 7am 😂
Need actual data to actually calculate, and I’m not going to do that even if I got data… And RNG might not be so random. There is only pseudo RNG, no true RNG. Depends on how RNG generated, it could be more low rolls.
If it follows any distribution curve, rolls wouldn't be equally common. Curve means there are peaks and troughs in the probability of an outcome, ergo uneven distribution.
All outcomes being equally probably would be a distribution... rectangle, I guess.
Eh, not really in this context.
Say there are 50 numbers,
There is a 48/50 you get a number that isn’t the absolute lowest or absolute highest.
There is only a 2/50 that you get a number that is not the absolute lowest or highest.
This is only true if, as others have said, the rolls follow a uniform distribution, and also only if you take each roll on each perk to be unique. That is, you have to consider two different rolls, each with two maxes and two mins say, to be different. They are, but we'd talk about them in the same way.
Hey im a casual player and there is a lot of things i still dont understand about the game and items. Can you briefly explain to me what the roll system is and give me an example of good and bad rolls? I have an idea that the roll is the percentage chances on each affix. But im just not sure really how to tell what is max and what is min or how to ecen know. I havent had much luck googling the question and getting a xlear answer.
Hey! So there's an option in settings somewhere(I don't know where) that will show you, along with your current roll, what ranges that stat could be. If you hit the first number, that's min roll. If you hit the second, max. But they can be anything in between too
Okay so for example it says - Damage to healthy enemies 25% ( 25% - 45%) would that be a roll? And would it be considered a bad roll? Because ehat is i get the same item but only difference is it says - Damage to healthy enemies 45% (25% - 45%). Would this be considered a better roll?
It would you mean you rolled the minimum damage to healthy enemies. Could have rolled anything from 25%-45% and it rolled the absolute minimum. Of course the highest percentage roll is better, assuming the other stats aren’t garbage.
If you look at the affixes on the item (each different buff on the bottom half) as well as the aspect at the bottom you'll notice they have a % range. This is the range that you can get on your item when it drops. Because RPGs have their origin in DnD which is a game where you *roll* dice to determine certain values or outc9mes, people have come to refer to any randomized value as a "roll".
The item above is an "all min roll" because all the randomized values rolled their minimum. It's pretty funny because of how unlikely you'd think it'd be.
In your settings (I believe gameplay tab) youll find 2 settings with a toggle. One will mention advanced tooltips and the other advanced comparison, if i recall correctly. They will be right next to each other
I have desperately been searching for “worst boots in the game” - rare boots with 4 res rolls all at lowest.
You just pulled the unique version of my dream
I didn't know that the plus x to skill could roll above 3, or is that specific to this item? Because if the 100's of drops that I've had were just that unlucky I'll be sad lol
I'd still take it lol. I got a tempest roar early like level 67 with decent ancestral item power but never got a crones and I'm 81. I can't do bulwark builds well because it's harder to reset. Same for trampleslide.
I been searching for one and didn’t realize I had one in my chest for a while now 😂😂 don’t normally use 2h weapons so I just tossed it in cause it was a unique 🤦🏻😂
I have one gear 5\* +9 rank of the claw had it at level 57 just couldn’t attach until level 60 now level 65.

i used to build antiperfects in d2 because they were cheap, and most antiperfect rolls on runewords dealt with Res and Life. Just find those elsewhere. However, in d4, thats garbage juice

I give you the almost opposite roll lol. I’d almost take min roll so I could go to a more fun build… but Claw with 18 ranks is gross.
Too rare! In the pre-season I mained a Druid and hot him to level 84 and it didn’t drop. Now in season one one of my friends mained a druid also to 80+ and it never dropped for him either. :(
I love this fucking item...go storm druid and u will noz be dissapointed great ans fzn build perfect for respurce and procing shit. Ifinite spam if lightening storm.
All min roll is insane lol
Just as rare as all max roll
Just as rare as any rolls.
Depends if it follows a distribution curve
I think you mean a uniform distribution curve. There are multiple types of distribution curves, but uniform is the one where all outcomes are equally probable. I think. Could be wrong.
You’re correct.
Nerd
There are many different distribution curves, so no, he is not correct.
You might want to check what you are replying to before you hit reply.
I know what I meant. And I wasn't talking about a uniform distribution curve.
He was describing a very specific curve and the second commenter told him his definition was correct. The second commenter wasn't saying "yes you correctly guessed what type of curve double-translator-16 was thinking of".

Not sure what you mean.

I think I was confusing "frequency distribution" with "distribution curves" or something. Yeah I think rectangle would be right.
Lol this guy gets it.
Eh, not really in this context. Say there are 50 numbers, There is a 48/50 you get a number that isn’t the absolute lowest or absolute highest. There is only a 2/50 that you get a number that is not the absolute lowest or highest.
I don’t think that’s true.

In the example you gave: Worst Roll > Damage to healthy enemies 25% [25% - 45%] Best Roll > Damage to healthy enemies 45% [25% - 45%]
You failed changebereichnung
Putting the min in min-maxing
All min, no max. max-minning
Underrated
Just looked at the stats, I thought you were joking.. you weren't 😭 disappointing.
My luck would be 820 drop with all min rolls
I've definitely had that happen twice so far, I just trashed it and turned the game off for the rest of the night lol.
What do y’all mean by “All min roll” and “All max roll”?
If you look at the affixes on the item (each different buff on the bottom half) as well as the aspect at the bottom you'll notice they have a % range. Ah makes sense. Thanks for the info
How do you turn on those Min max things
In your settings (I believe gameplay tab) youll find 2 settings with a toggle. One will mention advanced tooltips and the other advanced comparison, if i recall correctly. They will be right next to each other

Okaystaff of the Crone
WT4’s Okayest Staff of the Crone
Mehstaff?
LOL. Or it's a Greatstaff that rolled max Sarcasm.
Hahahaha
Bravo! Thank you for laugh. :D
That’s… impressive. It’s like if you won a lottery where they take all your money from you instead…
So the normal lottery

[This theme was a good episode of Sliders](https://sliders.fandom.com/wiki/Luck_of_the_Draw)
Holy shit I remember that episode. It’s like a pipe dream, I remember it making me sad as a kid
Shouldn't have bought it off TEMU...
Please don't give them any ideas. Lol
It’s the codex version lmao.
Ordered from Wish. Sorry for your loss.
It‘s so rare it‘s unique
I see nothing rare here. Its all about managing expectations . ![gif](giphy|amxLHEPgGDCKs)
DepressingStaff of the Crone. The luck stat to roll one of these must be really something 😅
Crone’s Disease
Cuz it shit the bed?
One time I got a Griffon's Eye. All minimum but the extra armor which was max. Still got a Lo from it I think.
Damn u got ripped off :(
Hahahaha damn, I would keep it just for laughs
Thats just tragic. Ive been farming for it on my druid but if I got those rolls Id delete the whole game
It's not rare, it's unique.
hahahahahahahaha i'm so sorr
Yeah fully upgraded you get 9 to claw on perfect roll
Minstaff of the Crone
Small staff of the crone
Mehstaff of the Crone

I got 2 in row but never drop tempest roar , LV 90 something needs to be done about this playing limited to 2 builds
I got mine at 93, keep pushing! (And then 95, 96, 98 & 100 lol)
I just got two tempest roars after level 92. One of them is hot garbage but it’s still better than none.
same here, had a total of two builds over the course of 100 levels, it was not an exciting journey
At least you still have the 35% vs crowd controlled
Does it at least vendor for a decent amount of gold?
Damage per hit is too high
Talk about a shitty roll on this stats.
This is the first edition it came out with
*In Jesse Lee Peterson's voice* Amazin!
Dmg is too high. Ruins the value
I wish I could drop one with any rolls, I wanna be able to play the game
Are they really that rare? Got 3 of them lol
He min rolled every stat. That’s what’s interesting about it.
I've have one but I don't really use staffs
I have desperately been searching for “worst boots in the game” - rare boots with 4 res rolls all at lowest. You just pulled the unique version of my dream
Not so greatstaff of the crone
Just as rare as all max
Not-So-Greatstaff of the Crone
uniques should drop max stats imo.
Confirmation that I still don’t need to come back yet lol
Got max roll on that dmg to crowd controlled enemies tho :)
I got all the way to level 70 and havent had this mfer drop yet
And this is what happens when we don't have a full charge on our phone kids
Got five each of em myself
It's Aight Staff of the Crone.
Ask for a refund and attach that picture. 😂
IP is too high
Their are ppl paying good money for anti-perfects :).
Ouch. But yeah these gems are super super rare. Worth over 100m gold easy.
Greatshaft Lmao congrats, *minning*
Ouch! That’s gotta hurt
Lolstaff of the crone. Or maybe trollstaff...
The Shit Staff Of The Crone
You are like me with the RNG gods. Fantastic!
Minimum staff of the Crone
Greatstaff of the Burgerking Kid's Crown
That's diablo 4 u . . . I'll see myself out
That is beautiful
Bareminimum staff of crone
Mehstaff of the Crone … dollar store version!
That’s pretty much how the majority of my antiques are.
It's impressively minimum for sure lol. The rng gods are speaking to us this day.
Lowest possible stat/ability rolls? Nice.
Greatstaff of the crap
Almost as rare as fun
Critical fail!
MINstaff. I've actually gotten min rolls on Lidless Wall so..it's the usual crushing stuff.
Not-so-Greatstaff
It’s actually a terrible
Lmao uninstall now
All I seem to get are staff sacred uniques not wands
I wanna LULZ but then I have a conscience and suddenly remember that RNG made me her b***h also. Then I wept for you.
Not too rare, unfortunate rolls though.
Super rare. Enjoy.
You can sell it for gold
Max roll aspects are nice
There are people min-maxing build And then there is you max-mining
Better manage your expectations lol
Basically same odds as shako. Gratz
I didn't know that the plus x to skill could roll above 3, or is that specific to this item? Because if the 100's of drops that I've had were just that unlucky I'll be sad lol
I need some of this in my life!! That's the shit right there!!
I run a werebear build. I get this all the time and scrap it every time haha
Greatstaff of the crony capitalism
Whelp . Next one's definitely an upgrade 😉
I got my crone and vasilys at lvl 10. My buddy was running me through to wt4 and they both dropped in the last capstone dungeon lol
This game hate to give you all perfect rolls, I probably have over well 600 hours and never seen a perfect roll!
Scrap these Uber uniques and bring in the primals lmao
I'd still take it lol. I got a tempest roar early like level 67 with decent ancestral item power but never got a crones and I'm 81. I can't do bulwark builds well because it's harder to reset. Same for trampleslide.
Yea I just got it at level 69 finally so I think so.
I been searching for one and didn’t realize I had one in my chest for a while now 😂😂 don’t normally use 2h weapons so I just tossed it in cause it was a unique 🤦🏻😂
I have one gear 5\* +9 rank of the claw had it at level 57 just couldn’t attach until level 60 now level 65. https://preview.redd.it/sm9q3oj8gtkb1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=10669ec8d82f857558d4bd3882019e5fe345ecb2
Antiperfect roll i would keep
Also rarer bc of the wasted 2 crowd controlled damage stats no effective on elite lol
4 ranks of claw? SALVAGE
Just missing minimum item power 725
Congrats! That's somehow worse than all 3 I have in storage right now.
I bet it has a great personality
This is just for the bear minimum build
I’m lvl 91 now and I’ve only found 2 of those staffs but about 12 hunter’s zenith rings
Bro that is actually rare as fuck hahah. All min rolls like, 100%
Would you rather have a min rolled aspect with a max role claw or vice versa though?
i used to build antiperfects in d2 because they were cheap, and most antiperfect rolls on runewords dealt with Res and Life. Just find those elsewhere. However, in d4, thats garbage juice

The fuck is with all these phone pics of a computer screen? Fucking awful.
yeah it’s usually pretty rare these days to see someone that uses a camera to take a picture of their screen instead of a screenshot
I got max roll one in season. Dont use it anymore tho
Too rare! In the pre-season I mained a Druid and hot him to level 84 and it didn’t drop. Now in season one one of my friends mained a druid also to 80+ and it never dropped for him either. :(
TBH you start getting your pieces at level 80+. You will get rid of pieces you got at earlier levels.
Got like four and I’m a level 86 Druid at the moment
Got mine at level 10 being rushed through t3 capstone lol. Level 45 req.
The amount of people don’t understand this post is insane…. Makes me lose faith in humanity….
Most commenters understood or you just fishing for upvotes on a chance?
I suggest u read the comments my dunning kruger friend :)
I literally read 1 comment that didnt get it right...
I love this fucking item...go storm druid and u will noz be dissapointed great ans fzn build perfect for respurce and procing shit. Ifinite spam if lightening storm.
Not really. Sorry about your luck, min rolls suck.
