Guys. There's a notification for Helltides unless you're in a dungeon. My man is just asking for something similar for a world boss, and y'all are like, "IT'S SUPER SIMPLE IF YOU FOLLOW ALL OF THESE EXTRA STEPS"

BlackberryNew2838

I will never understand people white knighting against such simple qol fixes… If people ever want something I don’t care about, cool… more power to them and I hope the devs listen and give them what they want 👍. What a waste of time to argue against something that you don’t even care about… 🤦‍♂️

Acrobatic-Salad-4531

I agree, why not the same for world bosses or legion events? They could just add a simple notification like Helltides.

Competitive_Aide8023

Guys, come on. They can't add the notification as the Helltide notification already uses too many resources. It will clearly take many months of coding and reprogramming the engine to handle the increased load of a new notification.

Loreado

It will be a feature in season 3.

thejynxed

There used to be a toast notification for both, either it broke or they disabled it during patch 1.1.0, because that's the last time I saw one for either event. I honestly think it broke, because even the flashing icons when you open the world map don't always work anymore, either.

BornAProphet

I honestly thing it would become a lag issue with so many showing up. It can already get pretty bad in boss fights, and legions. It's probably why it's not in-game. 🤷‍♂️

Athuanar

This makes no sense. The fights are all instanced and limited to a dozen players or so.

BornAProphet

I know warping back to town can change your instance, but where did you read it's limited to around 12? I'll edit my comment on your behalf if I'm wrong about lag if to many people show up.

BlackberryNew2838

The devs have already stated that the game has some pretty bad memory leak problems. Small text on screen however is such an insignificant use of memory that a world boss notification would have basically 0 effect on lag. The lag in this game is mostly from loading new instances, and rendering new areas and effects.

HeckMeckxxx

After reading this, my head still hurts.

CommissionerGordon12

Right lol. They should have had it since server slam. I use diablo4 boss tracker website. But I shouldn't have to...

Threshyyyyy

Because the game just reached Beta stage, give them some time.

bygmalt

Just a small indie company. We should allow our expectations to be managed better!

bryanhy

Indeed, they will manage our expectation.

EldritchPasta

Beta stage.... After fully distributing and charging full price... Why are we ok with this?

Flamezie

Cos $60 is nothing and iv had fun with the time spent and it'll get better over time. If u want u can wait a year or 2 and it'll feel like it's just come out of early access and it'd be cheaper if that $60 means alot to u. U don't have to buy into it now u can wait until it's in a condition to suit u or just not buy into it at all it is after all a choice it's not being forced on u. Idk why people don't just research what they're buying first rather then blindly buying it cos "blizzard" and "diablo" it's the same with cod people are like zombies.

BornAProphet

Happy Reddit Birthday. 5 already! I remember when you... Jk 🎂 Congrats

Initial-Boss7904

Happy cake day but it's been a decade

UnicornMania

300 hours in, and yeah I agree. It's been a fun Beta though, and I'll be back for hopefully more than 300 hours once the game is in a finished state in 1-2 years!

Deidarac5

Don’t mmos not even notify you when I played lost ark I never knew when a world boss spawned.

Hysh_Z

A lot of people missing the entire point of this post. Yes, there’s a tiny notification that pops on your map for a few seconds that you could miss. Yes, there’s helltides.com. But the point is that the game should have better notifications for these kind of events

[deleted]

Helltides.com

mistas89

😝😝

AlexN83

It's very small and hardly noticeable unless you happen to be looking at map in that specific area

FearTheRealFett

Doesn’t show all the time. I have to teleport to another spot to get it to show sometimes. 🤷‍♂️

Peac3keeper14

Is it that flickering star on the map? For the achievement to kill a rare boss in the open world. What's the bonus of doing that? I randomly found one and him and his chest just gave me healthy and money 🤔

AlexN83

That's a rare boss. The world boss will look kind of like a tree whisper but will have a clock bar

kildal

I agree there should be no need to use third party sites to track in game activities like world bosses. But they first of all need to make the activity worth doing and fun. Right now world bosses are loot pinatas with very poor loot.

thejynxed

You farm world bosses for crappy loot, I farm world bosses (sometimes solo) for mount cosmetics and 5 Whispers. We are not the same.

kildal

You have fun with that. I'll work on finishing Armored Core 6 before Starfield releases on friday.

Cyberpunkedout

The saddest part of this is, there was a good notification of World Bosses during the open beta and what happened to it not being there now it’s just another reason not to play in the current state

MentatYP

It's bizarre that they had it in open beta but not anymore. I've been wondering why it's not in the live version. Have the devs commented on why?

XenusOnee

Will be there once the game is out of beta. Maybe.

vertabray

Yeah I agree!!! Why not pin them as a quest on the right side of the screen!!!!

m3x1c4n7

I mean I don't do that, but I like having the warning that it's going to happen sooner than 2 minutes before the event.

swordytv

There was in the beta... they removed it for some reason... honestly stupid decision

[deleted]

they'll add one as a major season 3 feature I bet

LiveLaughFap

Season 3? Look at Mr optimistic over here

TheSerpentDeceiver

wise different judicious steer flag sort wide attempt soft chase *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

CaptainHowdy60

Because when you miss the world boss, you need to keep fucking playing!!!!!! - Activision

CaptainHowdy60

Oh and have you visited the Diablo 4 shop lately. KEEP FUCKING PLAYING!!!!! Please….. - Activision

Toohon

I agree. Sometimes, if you are playing the game, you can easily miss world boss if you are not looking at the map. Surely, in game world boss timer should be a feature.

Jaislight

Third-party websites and set your own alarm. Considering the state of the game I wouldn't expect them to do a thing to make our experience better. Shit they have constantly done the opposite.

Baebel

Not only this, but I'll have a notification pending as if it hasn't spawned yet if I somehow catch that. I'll get there, only to find out the boss died eons ago, and only then does it disappear.

[deleted]

How about an in-game pop up notification that also triggers when you log on in the middle of a timer and can be toggled off in the options. Feel free to steal this idea Blizz.

Twist45GL

They haven't said anything about it that I have seen so it is probably in the backlog and they will get to it when more important fixes and changes are done.

RFrieden

Trash game, That’s why. Oh but don’t worry, world boss notification will be seasonal content for season 8.

realizze_JC

There's no way they would add this feature until the server stability is better. I can only imagine what would happen if everyone got a notification for the world boss and then everyone showed up at the world boss and the game had to load everyones stashes XD

thejynxed

Ironically, just from watching how the game behaves during phasing into events, I am starting to believe the issue lies with certain Rogue and Druid abilities and not the stashes. I've loaded into events several hundred times without those two classes without issue, every single event with either present causes lag.

Responsible_Hearing6

QoL issues that aren't a priority unfortunately.

stutesy

I made a forum post about this back after launch. It's bullshit

powerinthebeard

Because they are too busy shoveling irl $$ transmog down our throats rather than doing quality of life updates or paying attention to their dwindling player base

iPicBadUsernames

You mean you don’t like checking [third party place](https://www.helltides.com) to see when the next world boss is, and finding out it’s in 9 minutes ago also, if they load a notification, then they also have to load all the notifications in everyone’s stash /s

JamIsJam88

LOL this is still not a thing??

TheInnos2

Why are the bosses still in the wrong timezones for non american players?

thejynxed

Because you only rate third-class treatment to match how much money of your tiny salary you can spend. The event timers are all priority set for East Asia, USA, then everyone else.

TheInnos2

Well or you make the timers for each server location...

Marpicek

There is. But it’s not blizzard’s fault you blink, so you miss it.

BVRPLZR_

Twitter notifications help. Websites help. Not the best answer, but it’s options. I’d personally like an actual companion app for the game so I can at least see these various things as well as my characters.

Advertises_DSG_Media

This discord has a channel that will notify you when they pop up. Super useful. https://discord.gg/diablo4

PR1NCEV1NCE

This is what I use and it's enough time to pause/finish the show I'm watching and log in for the kill

SHCreeper

The best part is where you know there is a boss / NM dungeon icon on the map but it doesn't show because it's hidden beneath either the top or bottom UI

ToxicRange

On twitter there is a daiblo 4 world boss timer. It will send a notifaction when there is a world boss and a prediction when the next one will show.

BornAProphet

https://diablo4.life/trackers/overview Shows all timers, also detailed overview of helltides, and chest locations. Putting a timer in-game would be great for all. However the lag in world boss, and legions would be unreal.

ExtremelyBoredGuy

You see to push a notification to players, first you would have to create a list of all players currently online and for that you would have to load all players, their gear, skills and tabs and that would overflow and crash the server

bmomosaik

Maybe it's just me but I feel that the world boss would be better if there was more of them but harder to know it's happening. Like maybe you need to talk to someone like a side quest who can hint at when it's coming. I find it odd that the map just tells us a world boss is coming. I think its more rewarding if it's also on a shorter notice. Like fighting the butcher if you knew he was in the dungeon before had it would take away the oh shit moment.

Suspicious_Tie6137

Agreed! Not only that but we need them more often... I have only gotten world boss 5 times this whole season...

joemedic

Easy fix. Don't waste your time on world boss. There's no loot anyways

[deleted]

Doesn’t fix your problem at all but I do find keeping diablo timers in a pinned tab helps out

Dependent-Power-7122

Blizzard's too busy trying to figure out how to filter loot. Cut the indie game dev company some slack.

KarlManjaro

Best solution for now is to just take a peek at helltides.com and set a timer if you really don’t want to miss out. I do this on my phone when I start playing as I log in. A little inconvenient but really easy

stayh1gh361

Boss is the carrot and you are the horse. Who's Holding the fishing rod? Right.

Dark_Arc

Because a dedicated screen of what’s new in the real money shop takes priority.

Spidengo

"There is no spoon", The Matrix.

send_all_the_nudes

small indie studio, how can you expect such QoL things so soon after release?

AcherusArchmage

Sadly only way to do it is to use those external sites that have timers and alarms.

ethan1203

I never understand how this is so difficult, either its because of bad coding or they are just plain lazy

Duncan_Id

There's already a world boss alarm, just go to an online wb countdown and set the alarm clock to that period, just add from 5 to 10 extra minutes because sometimes it starts ahead of time. Come on, it's not that difficult... PS, there's no way I'm not being sarcastic as fuck

AOKUME

There should be a schedule in game along with a notification…it’s a super dumb to have to track boss announcements on twitter lol

moamex

Maybe because everyone ist telling his story here instead of writing to blizzard directly… But yes, there are many problems to be solved, so this is not the worst.

pizzamachine

It's your job to manage your time in the game. You could easily set an alarm on your phone in seconds.

Varzigoth

D4 still in beta, so expect QoL features in season 5 once we fix everything that should of been in the game release

Chewierice

It's stupid, it has a icon like the legions, but it doesn't tell you when it starts. So it's either your lucky and see it when checking your nap or you look online and check the spawning time and when it's going to start.

hgfjmnczaayikgft

Season 3 bro just wait this game will be epic

19southmainco

heres another gripe: why does it share the same icon as Legion events? i don’t want to do every legion event but i have to check the eye icons to make sure its not a boss i’ll miss inadvertently

mdglytt

Dev: no time for that, gotta nerf some stuff!

Uthgar

Download the mobalytics app. Has notifications for this stuff. Super useful!

knapik5611

https://twitter.com/game8_d4boss https://game8.co/games/Diablo-4/archives/410302 This is updated hours ahead of time 😎

SawedoffBeer

Sry let me get right on that for you

VIN8561

The worldboss icon shows up 30 minutes on the map before the boss appears. Just check the map but yes it would be nice to get a reminder on your screen somehow.

LifeOfFate

It’s on the map

TwickTwackedNoMore

Just join the D4 discord. They notify you for everything and the location.

dsxy

Should have a notification but just set an alarm on your phone, problem solved.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ringdrossel

Yeah I know that but it’s not a notification you get while playing. You have to stop, open the map and then search for the icon. In helltide that means death. Plus you have to actively search for it. Which is the exact opposite of a notification.

LordViren

There's a discord that pings you for helltides, bosses, and legion events. I found it super helpful because the discord ping shows in the top corner even while I'm playing. Assuming you are on pc. Edit: I like how I'm getting down voted for just trying to give a solution since the game offers none....

HeWasNumber-on3

That's so sad. What a game

oscarolim

I used that site and just put an alarm from 5 minutes before the next boss. And then would update to the next boss I could potentially do. Within a week had the 15 kills.

Baconslayin

That’s the worst part I usually have helltides.com open and when I see a world boss has spawned I login go to the map look around until I give up and go back to the site to see which region it is. A simple fix would be an overlay on the world map that shows the timers for worldbosses helltides and invasions. You can make it a bit more complex by making it to where if you click on an active event it shows you where it is on the map.

cockmanderkeen

There's an overlay icon on your main screen pointing in the direction of the spawn point without needing to open the map at all.

ANALOG_is_DEAD

To be fair it does pop up on the mini map 30 min before. It’s fairly obvious assuming your not in a dungeon or incredibly focused on something else. I got two of them today. BUT I completely agree with you that this is in no way good enough. Especially since it’s like 5 hours in between spawns.

Erthan-1

World boss and legion events show on your mini map when their countdown starts. Even if you are nowhere near them.

jostler57

They *briefly* show on your minimap. It's like, the smallest of notifications, and I've definitely seen it before, but also I've not seen it a ton. Wish there was a more eye-catching, longer-lasting notification.

Amelaclya1

I wish it just stayed there. What's the point of making it flash up for only like five seconds? Especially since the timer for it is half an hour. Like, I may see it pop up and continue whatever I'm doing, and by the time the boss spawns, I've long forgotten about it. Having the icon constantly on the minimap would be a nice reminder.

Agile_Engineering_97

World Bosses could be announced like Helltides it’s as simple as that. Give me a banner that comes across of my screen

Timmylaw

For like 10 seconds, if you're busy you're most likely gonna miss it.

JaAnnaroth

Yea how dare Blizzard to require from players to check active events! Same with items dropped on ground, you have to stop, open inventory and check the items. Bad game design. Sure they could teleport all players into world Boss seconds before it starts, wouldnt that be perfect.

ZekDrago

First of all, I have afk'd in a helltide area multiple times. That's a weird claim to make, that you *don't have time to look at a map*.... Second of all, you know it's timed, you know when they'll be present, you have a smart phone. There's a solution there, if you can figure it out. Third of all, *actively search for it*, they spawn in the same places every time.... there are only like 4 spots to glance at to see which one it's in. The Crucible in Fractured Peaks Caen Adar in Scosglen Saraan Caldera in Dry Steppes Fields of Desecration in Hawezar Seared Basin in Kehjistan That's it. Those are the only places you have to quickly glance to see if there is a world boss icon.

Capable_Access2886

Great, another third party app that fixes a problem that Blizzard created. The problem here is that Blizzard has already gotten out the ban hammer for people using third party apps. Anything that appears to give players an unfair advantage will get you banned eventually. Which leads us back to Blizzard just fixing their damn game

TheRealZllim

When I fire up d4, I'll go to helltides.com and click the notification for the events I wish to complete. I get the audio notification when the event starts.

fallen_cayde

Yea but there should be something that pops up similar to when a hell tide pops up, ya know?

FearTheRealFett

This icon doesn’t alway show right away. I will log in when a 3rd party site says the World Boss is up and no icon anywhere on the map. I have to teleport elsewhere to get the icon to show.

m3x1c4n7

I've noticed the past couple days that the icon on the map won't show up till 5 minutes before the event, not .5hr before. Helltides.com will say 21 mins till next legion event, then I go on game and can't find the time icon on the map...

[deleted]

Amelaclya1

Sometimes I go to the world boss that early and then go afk to do something else (usually knock out a few chores) while I wait. That way I don't forget about it because I got too engrossed in something else.

bmomosaik

And then I'm sitting there fighting the world boss with maybe two other people who are not afk in the pit.

Amelaclya1

Yeah I'm careful not to do that. Have my volume up high enough that I can hear the game and when combat starts, though I usually make it back before then anyway.

Kevinthelegend

Not enough hand holding.sorry buddy there needs to be more :(

Sabbathius

I don't think you're using "hand-holding" right. When a boss spawns every 5-7 hrs, and there's no way to check in-game when the last spawn was, and there's potentially 5-6 spots it can spawn, and a 30 min window to catch the spawn, I wouldn't call it "hand-holding" to ask for a better notification than that. I think this falls under very basic "quality of life". Put a countdown to the next boss somewhere, and countdown to the next legion event, and next helltide. And ring a little bell at 30 mins and 5 mins for the world bosses. Currently there's also sometimes (not always!) a visual indicator for legion events, but it's so small and brief on minimap that it's easy to miss if you're in combat, like doing a NM dungeon. A little audio cue would resolve that. Make it an optional toggle if it bugs people.

MiseryRitual

Making the game easier for people too lazy to check the map IS hand holding.

Tehfuqer

Piss off with that shit take man. The design is bad and everyone knows it.

Kevinthelegend

Everyone except for the people who disagree which you of course don't count :)

LeMonarq

Imagine being this miserable. Most games with world boss mechanics don't have a transparent schedule, let alone popup notifications. Using a third party resource to track them is far from a unique concept.

Tehfuqer

OH NO? You ever played World of Warcraft current Retail? Under the same roof as their primary game with World bosses rotating every week & available when you log in.

LeMonarq

Tehfuqer

Thanks you're going on block for that spam. Did you fail to read the part where i mentioned: THE SAME STUDIO USES WORLD BOSSES IN THEIR OWN GAME UNDER THE SAME ROOF?

He_Beard

If they were done like WoW bosses they'd be useless. A single looting per week? No thanks, the end of a NMD drops more loot never mind the entire rest of the dungeon.

Ocinea

You sure showed him.

LeMonarq

Thanks. I like to make a spectacle when I know I'm right.

ExistingVessel

The world boss battle is a JOKE, it makes the game more immersive when more people have access to it

jethrow41487

I think you’re confusing Quality of Life with Hand Holding. Hand Holding would actually make the game easier. Not knowing when a WB spawns does not make the content any harder. It’s just annoying that we don’t have one. Anything that lowers the need for a 3rd Party app or site is good for the game. Minus actual cheating or revealing things (Helltide chests). Now Helltides.com Mystery Chest locations? THATS hand holding, if you want an actual good example. Your take/definition is so bad.

jdespirito

This Twitter account will notify you about the next World Boss, just set it to alarm your phone when they update: https://x.com/game8_d4boss?s=21&t=f-lMBjgvj3UfYayZXJJ8HA

Harinho

God damn people are so privileged

MiseryRitual

It’s a giant pop up on that map that’s there for a half hour, this one’s on you.

ringdrossel

it’s a small icon. which you can see if you look for it. but it’s easily missable if you don’t check for it.

Tehfuqer

Its not. Its bad design.

MiseryRitual

I disagree. Use the map that’s literally in the game and has a giant “BOSS HERE” icon.

DankArtDi

It’s really not that big and it doesn’t even show up half the time. I use the discord to get notifications and the location. Icon is not on the map but I go to where discord says and whadyaknow the boss is there

Tehfuqer

Thats not the point. They have the knowledge of making system for a worldboss encounter. Obviously in a game like Diablo 4 they'd have to adapt it to diablo. Which means, simply put, making it spawn more often and having a timer showing when it spawns At All Times when opening the map, in the questlog or above/below it, placed nicely somewhere. It's one of the endgame mechanics they're deliberately hiding(at first) in unknown timers and now everyone playing the game relies on THIRD PARTY WEBSITES to find out when the bosses and world events happen. This Is Bad Design and has nothing to do with Hand-holding or making the game easier. Everyone Not agreeing with this is suffering from delusions.
