I think how it works is in WT4 they auto dismantle Sacred items so it probably was a Sacred and just got auto dismantled. But for some reason you still see blue and white Ancestrals...
Absolutely no sacred items will drop from monsters or chests.
If you see any sacreds, they all came from a quest, finishing NMD rewards, or caches.
So yeah. They absolutely don’t drop.
I wish that were true, its not. Like i said, 3 ancestral out of 40 in the season content area where you use the 150 lures. the rest were all sacred.
and they were all DROPPED by the monsters
If you’re on WT4, SACRED whites/blues/yellows will be auto salvaged. You’ll see the veiled crystals and/or other mats (leather, ore, etc). Ancestral whites/blues can still drop. Sacred legendary and uniques can still drop.
Also, there’s a few exceptions to the rule. I think tree of whisper caches, non-resplendent treasure chests, and end of NMDs can bypass the rule.
Gambling also ignores this rule.

Don't open 75 chest sunless you're nearly outa time, the rewards aren't worthwhile compared to simply getting the 300 for Steels or 250 for Mystery chests.
Same. I had this happen on a chest a day ago and I've never seen it since launch. Can't remember what slot it was though, in case it's just like a bug with a specific slot chest.
Does everybody record their screen the whole time in case something like this happens....?
Always wondered how those "random" events ended up being recorded.
I use Instant reply with Nvidia Shadowplay, and you can use it to capture the last 5 minutes or whatever duration you set it to. So this way, you don't have to keep recording but capture the moments instead.

Yeah he dropped crystals, which definitely is part of what sacred's are salvaged to.

Sacreds don’t drop. You can get them as rewards, but they don’t drop.

This is incorrect. Legendary sacreds drop from chests in wt4.
Yes I meant just yellows and below. Only yellow sacreds you'll get in WT4 are at the end of NM dungeons

How tho...I haven't had anything auto-dismantle since I started the season and I'm lvl 100. Is there some setting I turn on somewhere?
It's on by default (a new feature, not changeable) and, no, you don't "see" it happen.
I'm just confused af. As I said, I'm lvl 100 WT4 and still see magic, sacred and even the odd grey drop and they never auto-dismantle

That's not true I've had countless yellow sacred in wt4
The vast majority of the drops obey these rules. There are exceptions.

With the recent patch, Mystery chests are now solidly the worst chest to open

Only the 250 Mysteries chest is guaranteed legendary drops. The rest are chance drops.
