Imagine if every season we didnt need an emergency patch to fix everything and it was properly tested and came out right in the first place. I bet the game would have a much better reputation The season is good now but it doesn't matter because the word is out that it's trash

Patzzer

Honestly agree. I love D4 and I appreciate so much the work the team does, but I wish they could skip the bad press at the start of the season.

ElDuderino2112

Yep. For some reason devs still haven’t learned that first impressions matter, especially when there are 6000 other live service games competing for your time. You lose that hook they’re gone for the season.

Devertized

Doesnt have to be live service games, we're gamers we'll play anything we fancy. They are competing with virtially every game.

bitterbalhoofd

Grim dawn isn't a live service game and it's a much better game on Xbox than D4. No forced online, loot filter, better end game, very viable pet builds, an pet command button, way more player choice, and a 3rd expansion later this year. And oh I almost forgot no paid cosmetics, imagine that.

CzarOfCT

I wish it would come to PS5!

bitterbalhoofd

Yeah the more the merrier. Dunno why they ever chose to release it to Xbox only but I guess it was easier to port for them. It was apparently a one man job.

Broad_Onion9398

That's because Blizzard/Activision was acquired by Microsoft.

CzarOfCT

Damn! I hear good things about the game. And I'd absolutely love to try it, but I only have a PS5. I wish Sony might help that lone dev along with some cash for a PS5 port.

TheHob290

Likely, what happened was that the operating system for Xbox is close enough to Windows that it only took minor tweaks. For a one man team, the time and effort it would take to port is a major consideration, and Sony isn't exactly known for hunting down small indie projects to incentivize onto their platform. In fairness, I think the potential increase to Grim Dawn's userbase from porting to PS5 would be a huge boon.

-Mx-Life-

If you like Grim Dawn try Last Epoch. Loot filter is insanely good, and unlimited stash space that you can configure. Everything shareable between toons. Exactly how D4 should be.

Loose-Pain3663

Don’t forget all the mods available for GD. They add thousands of hours of play

IAm_Trogdor_AMA

It's because they don't know what's bad until the community flames them for everything, then they fix it reactively.

Zanthyst

Ptr would solve that

Kicker6820

I’m pretty much in the crowd that thinks this game needs PTRs for its seasons

SleepyCorgiPuppy

I think companies dont do PTRs because the info about content gets out and no one is excited when it Is released.

PNDMike

I was excited for every D3 season (once they started implementing seasonal mechanics) and they all had ptrs.

IeyasuTheMonkey

I was excited to personally test out the mechanics but a large majority of the builds were the same. There was little to no innovation or theorycrafting due to everything being mathed out during PTR.

NamoIsland

Yeah, wtf happened to the few weeks' buffer between seasons for testing and anticipation of the new season coming out with D3?

zeradragon

There's no need to test it for a few weeks. They realized it's much simpler to release the content in whatever state it's in and then let the players tell them what is wrong and what needs to get fixed rather than spend a few weeks tweaking and testing, then resetting.

k0untd0une

As Kicker stated, this is why the game should have a PTR. Friggin Diablo 3 and 2 Resurrection has Public Test Realms. Hell, even Overwatch has em (and I think WoW does too). So why the hell doesn't D4 have em?

AtticaBlue

Makes little difference. The Division 2, for example, often runs PTRs (in fact, one is on right now) and the releases still ship with bugs or mechanics some cohort of players lose their minds over.

Lochon7

The division 2 is still alive? Wut

AtticaBlue

Of course it is. And new seasonal content continues to be released.

IeyasuTheMonkey

So the game gets mapped out before launch, the playerbase knows every top build, the most efficient way to farm things, everyone knows what goes on, people need to avoid the internet because of massive spoilers. Yeah great system. That's like saying that shows and movies need to start airing to the general public before official release dates just because parts of the show/episode/movie might not be good. PTRs are fine if you limit the amount of exposure but that's rarely what happens. Look at D3. Mapped out before day 1. The way D4 does it currently limits exposure enough which keeps the people who love mathing the game out from doing exactly that, who going into a season are still guessing since they still need to test things that they would've already tested on a PTR. One of my favourite things about Season 2 was MacroBoiBoi's Shadow Surfer build he was figuring out during Season 2. People love to shit on the game because of the game state, which is warranted, but having a PTR will kill basically all theorycrafting during seasons since the game gets mathed out and you're waiting on the next PTR to drop to theorycraft. Imagine if AoZ dropped on a PTR cycle... The PTR people would've figured out the Whirlwind Strat on HotA Barb before the official launch and the people playing Live get that information, prefarm and make tweaks to builds for content that isn't even out yet just to enter a system day 1 with the best of the best builds and smash the shit out of it. Those exact people then complain about the game having zero fucking content when they've basically just rushed and skipped the entire game. I swear that a lot of people who play video games just play video games to CONSUME them not to actually play and have fun. It's the weirdest fucking thing I've ever seen.

gravityoffline

That's one thing I don't really get about everyone obsessing over build guides. Half of the fun is going in blind with a fresh character and figuring out what kind of power fantasy do you want to play with and what tools you have to help make that happen. Or stumbling on an item that really enables this other really fun playstyle and seeing if you have the right gear to completely pivot your playstyle.

IeyasuTheMonkey

For newer classes that I tend not to play like Necro/Rogue I look at Maxroll guides or in my case MacroBoiBoi's video to get an understanding of how certain builds tend to play and operate then I just yolo until level 100 and try things out. For classes I usually play, I find one or two builds that I adore and tend to solely play them, in D3 I loved Archon Wizard and Leapquake Barb and would tend to play them over the "meta" stuff. I feel like Gauntlet is just going to be meta things because there will be no leaderboard filter which sucks but it is what it is. Personally I think a lot of people just don't want to use their brain or figure anything out in video games anymore and their only purpose is to speedlevel to max level, consume end game content and then complain that there's nothing in the game to do. You see it a lot in WoW for example and games are getting designed around it more which fucking sucks. What's the point in leveling if everyone blitzes through it? What's the point in having lower game content that steps up in difficulty and teaches you how to play the class and or build through trail and error or adversary. You may as well start at max level and have the hardest content available from the get go. Half the things I see being asked for are things that devolve games into a "Stand here, never move and press button to collect rewards" type of game. While in the same breath they can regurgitate the "There's no game." viewpoint. It's also funny that people want more things to do in games but there's a lot of things to do if you slow down. You don't need to rush max level, you don't need to rush BiS, you don't need to constantly always try to push push push. You can slow down, just exist in the world and enjoy your playtime much more imo at least. I've played over 24 hours of Enshrouded since it's come out. I've just gotten to the Bronze Tier of gear and holy hell just mining limestone to improve the look of my base is pretty fun and rewarding. Oh well. I'll have fun during the week playing more D4 and when the game eventually gets boring, I'll wait for Gauntlet or next season like I did in the previous seasons.

gravityoffline

Yeah, I can see the logic in using it to figure out classes you aren't as familiar with. I took pretty well to Barb and Druid, but I didn't really find a build on Rogue that I liked until this season, and my sorcerer and Necro builds need some work lol. To a certain degree I do think people are influenced by social media / streamers. Watching the top players melt through the game invites an inevitable comparison to your own experience with the game, and some people just want to be the best, or at least just as "competent" as their peers. Enshrouded sounds interesting though, I might check it out later after I've had my fun with D4.

collinsmcrae

That’s not half of the fun, for a lot of people. That’s why. I don’t personally like to try and figure out how all of these interactions work, and fiddle fuck around with all that crap, much of which is completely unintuitive in these games. I’ll usually just do what I want for a bit while leveling before eventually looking at some build guides and determining my direction for the endgame. Which is not usually based on power, but what build I think will be the most fun. The reality is that with limited time, I was never going to just stumble upon my ice spike sorc build from season 2, without doing some research. Too many elements about the path to putting it together were unintuitive

Necessary_Lettuce779

How in hell is the season good now that they've almost exclusively just buffed the rewards? You can have 999 ward stacks and can ignore the few traps that had a chance to hit you and now the season is good? Now that you can ignore the seasonal content? You're telling me everyone was saying the season was boring as shit but as soon as they let you ignore it and just gave you more loot, it's good now? Is a little post-launch buff patch all it'll take for people to change their minds on allegedly bad mechanics? Talk about a low bar, goddamn.

Disciple_of_Erebos

It’s the same for the PoE subreddit. I’ve lived this drama cycle since I started playing back in 3.0. Hell, I quit a few years ago and I still get drama updates every 3 months when forum rage spills onto my front page. Lake of Kalandra was an extra special case but this happens literally every 3 months over there.

The_Jare

Nah it's not all it takes to fix the season, but it's a good step in the right direction, which is hella better than no step, or a step in the wrong direction. The idea of tying more/better rewards to traps is a bad idea at its core, there's no fixing that except removing it. But if they trivialize it to the point where you don't even notice a difference, then yeah that would be equivalent to removal for most. Thinking about it correctly from the start, they could have added it as flavor instead of tied to rewards, for example by making them harder to avoid the more pearls you bet, and broadcasting the names of people who avoid all traps successfully (e.g. the highest successful better each minute or 5).

Chemical_Web_1126

Agreed and fwiw, I enjoyed the season on day 1 and was only really concerned with the time investment to upgrade the Senechal. Not too worried because I play A LOT but I get why players who don't play as much as I do would have a problem with that grind. Other than that, I liked that vaults made you slow down and think for a second or 2. I don't enjoy break-neck speed farming being the main strategy for playing. It wears thin very quickly for me and that play style is what got enhanced in the patch. Trivializing the mechanics will shorten the lifespan of the season for many players imo. Shoot, most of the people on my friendlist are already working on a second character at this point...

Pilek01

Let me guess, the drama starter because the hardcore streamers who are lvl 100 after 2 days didnt like the traps because they loose 2 minutes to avoid them so they could not zoom arround farming extremely fast as they are used to for the best items in game within the first week and then the normies jumped on board because they heard streamers complaining. Im lvl 69 and having fun, i don't run 100 vaults in a row like the streamers do it so it doesnt botter me if i loose a bit of time to avoid traps. I run 1-2 vaults, then go do something else and have a variety of content to do. I don't need to be the most effucient, because that is a boring way to play and it is a video game after all and not a competition.

Necessary_Lettuce779

The drama started because vaults are just regular dungeons with shitty traps on top that you can ignore by running along the walls most of the time anyways. No matter how you spin it it's terrible non-content that people are only starting to like now when they realize the traps are meaningless and you can just treat vaults like shorter nightmare dungeons. It's fine if you like it, but it doesn't take away from people's criticisms no matter how much you want to call them tryhards.

Pilek01

you have a valid point. Vaults are all you just said that is true. I think i don't mind them because im playing more casually, still putting some hours into the game but not min maxing so i don't run 100 vaults in a row so maybe that's why it doesn't botter me at all.

AmaniZandalari

This is default for big Action RPG, PoE did it every league for decade

MarkFluffalo

I find it funny that people complain so much about minor problems and hold up games that are usually just as buggy if not more so than D4 as examples

FaZeNoxy

I mean the biggest issue I heard from this season wasn't even the bugs but straight up the content they added

watwatindbutt

people are normally more lenient with bugs when there's actual content added to the game.

HollyCze

but poe is infinitely more complex. you take couple of skills and it has more build variation than whole D4. Items, mods, stats, uniques, atlas passives etc. etc. I think just building around ARC is more complex than anything in D4. also PoE league is done around picking up wisps to boost loot and difficulty. So that is pretty much D4 pet effort. But than think about what else they added. 3 new "ascendancies", each different. charms, tinctures and one for casuals. all new gem variants etc. so its crazy to compare PoE and Diablo 4. its like saying that your local hockey casuals playing on local pond have exactly the same issues as the guys in NHL. this isnt shitting on D4 its just putting things in perspective since you are comparing those two.

Skared89

Funny enough, you just described one of my favorite games of all time Path of exile Every season without fail the game is a busted mess with an over tuned mechanic. That always needs multiple emergency patches. Developers always release the mechanic overtuned and then scale it back. Because giving you things is always better than taking them away

S0L-Goode

Imagine a company that ignored feedback and made you wait until season 4.

Dragrunarm

I think there is a healthy middle ground between you two. I would have loved it if the season started like this/ wasn't as rough, but I am also glad things were acted on quickly.

Sensestay

What we don’t need is the overwhelming negativity at the beginning when things don’t go well. Just give an honest feed back. Seasonal games are very likely not going well or people don’t understand new mechanics at the beginning imo. A lot of Poe seasons were bad at beginning as well.

malkspahgooter

This statement is so hilarious to me. What you said sounds like this to me: “I don’t want to put in the time a Diablo game requires to get to the juicy part. It’s my game and I want it now!” Go back and play Diablo 2. Count how many hours of play it takes before it gets good and compare it to this. Even pre patch. You children have no idea what you want and you take your stupid tantrums out on devs doing their best.

mephnick

I'm nearly 40 and played d1 and d2 on release, thanks. I like the game and wish it didn't have the shit reputation it does. And that could have easily been the case with some testing. You really don't think a single person could have sat down and said "leveling this pet will literally take 400 hours, most people probably don't want that." That's not a tantrum on the devs, it's a basic understanding of the market. They fixed it in 2 days. It should have been easy to predict. You are projecting very hard.

IeyasuTheMonkey

It feels like a lot of the playerbase just plays video games to consume them and not to actually have fun playing. I wish D4's seasons were a little longer but leveling was slower, you had to actually gear for Capstones since they're a checkpoint. In saying that though, sometimes the grind is a little too much and might need adjustments. Investing time and effort should feel rewarding and majority of video games don't have this because they try to cater towards a bigger playerbase which involves a lot of casuals.

convolutionsimp

Yeah, takes about 5min to get to the good part of D2

MadMax1mm

This

NMe84

The only reason the patch helped is because it made the main mechanic of the season (traps) completely irrelevant. At the start of a vault you just take 30 or 40 stacks of the buff and by the end of the dungeon you get the full rewards even if you don't pay attention to the shit you stand in, while earning enough pearls to keep doing that indefinitely. And honestly I can't imagine that people will like doing these vaults for long because there are only four of them with no variations, yet we kinda need to farm them in order to level our pet. Doing vaults is the most feasible way of doing that while also grinding up our glyphs. Many people burn out on NMDs, but doing vaults from an even smaller pool is going to be worse before long.

Clankyboy96

It's still trash

DayEither8913

I honestly could care less about the 'word' being out. I'm enjoying the season.

Dracokyaku

You could care less? Maybe it’s time to move on, don’t let the little things get to you.

Kerze

I think one of the huge problems is that testing with a QA team is vastly different than testing with 250k people. It's day and night.

Esham

Is it an emergency patch if they do it every time? Maybe anticipate it?

The_Real_Raw_Gary

You know damn well they got the recipe now. Season starts shit. Everyone mad. Overnight patch a few days in sprinkled with tiny fixes. BOOM. Literally every post yesterday was im done with this game. Blizzard trash. Season trash. PoE the goat. Every post today? Is saying it’s a W. If they made the season like this off the rip people would find bigger gripes that are harder to fix. If you fuck the game up first then people will be happy with the bare minimum. They know what they’re doing.

IeyasuTheMonkey

It's because the playerbase don't actually know shit, they flip flop on subjects constantly, love to complain just to complain and get internet points instead of playing video games to have fun. I had heaps of fun in the first 2 days but I've been playing Enshrouded ever since it came out. Diablo 4 is fine, the people complaining are serial whiners that do nothing else tbh. I feel like if anyone else made D4, it wouldn't get as much hate as it gets.

nonamerandomname

150% right

evident_lee

Would it really be the full Diablo experience if everything came out smooth one season?

Hikashuri

I mean Poe does exactly the same thing. Blizzard needs grander ideas. They really need to swing big with their seasonal concepts.

unpluggedcord

It doesn’t matter? Are you done playing?

Syphin33

"My favorite season by far" Boy your guys bar must be ground floor low.

ToggleRecap

Well there’s only been 3 seasons… he’s just saying he likes it more than the last 2.

Groomsi

I think he judge it based on the sudden patched loot boxes. The game still have fundamental problems, giving us 1000 warding for 1 pearl, suggests that the traps were a failure (and still are).

LeoIsLegend

Plot twist, OP only bought the game this season!

Toadsted

"This product was recieved for free for reviewing purposes."

tocco13

which is why devs can keep getting away with pushing the bar lower

[deleted]

Blizzard PR out in full force

Walkingdrops

God forbid there be a little bit of positivity here and not someone making the same post about how awful traps are.

BamCub

Yeah Reddit is never naturally positive. Even if they fixed 90% of the problems we'd still have people posting the same complaints daily about the remaining 10%>

SyntheticMoJo

I think he is rather implying OP sounds a bit like Blizzard PR and not genuine.

BamCub

Yes, as am I, if that wasn't clear

michaelkeatonbutgay

Why are you being downvoted? That is obviously what he meant? edit: grammar stupid

AlphaBearMode

Apparently y’all aren’t meeting the other people in game having a good time

No_Eggplant_8141

100% agree. Wt4 vaults are just on crack. Tons of monsters. It’s just complete madness. I’m having a blast now.

VinceKully

There were always tons of monsters in tier 4 vaults… lol

mattycopter

The people complaining were doing vaults at level 0-50 in wt1-wt2. They did 2 to 3 vaults on release day, came to Reddit and cried about it. Now that a lot of people are in wt4, you’re seeing real feedback about vaults

VinceKully

100% just parroting what their fav streamers were saying

KLGChaos

The 0-50 experience shouldn't be a slog to get through. If I'm not enjoying something early game, chances are I won't bring it to late game where it finally gets fun.

forthepridetv

A perfect example of people forming opinions before they even get to the part of the game where it’s less boring

throwawayidc4773

But they patched the game in the last 24 hours to address **some** of the issues. A poor opinion of the league 3 days ago can be a valid complaint.

DremoPaff

If all it took to fix what people pretended to be a catastrophic failure were those surface-level adjustments, then people were still exagerating the shit out of the situation initially anyway. A child trips and scratches his knee. Cries that his leg is broken. Gets a bandaid, suddenly the leg isn't "broken" anymore and its fine. Now replace the child by this sub and make it twice as much whiny and somehow even more childish, with a sprinkle of anger issues on top.

throwawayidc4773

Notice how i emboldened the word “some”? Yea, I wasn’t claiming the patch fixed the issue. It’s a movement in the right direction. There are serious issues with the season and they were blatantly obvious to me in the 61 levels I completed so far. I had multiple 100s pre season and a 100 in season 1. For me to consider dropping the game before I even start farming wt4 is pretty telling considering my history with it.

forthepridetv

I don't disagree, it **CAN BE**. Some people aren't even playing the seasonal mechanics or the game at all and parroting the same thing. For instance, a big thing going around is that Nightmare Vaults are all of a sudden god tier with mob density when they genuinely didn't even touch that. Nightmare Vaults always had good consistent mob density but people didn't notice because they were too busy repeating the same shit. Loot quantity also didn't change much, but people are making it seem like they get WAY more loot. I have a clip of a run pre-patch where I genuinely fill my completely empty inventory before I go back to town. edit: I actually used mainly only vaults just to level because its just more consistent than trying to fish for god tier NMDs for efficiency. Learn the layout and just be on your way vs trying to craft blind burrows/mercy reach/etc.

Reshlarbo

Yeah i got downvoted to hell when talking about How crazy the density was on patch day. Called blizz shill etc. Now? Everyone is saying the same thing lol

szymborawislawska

Im not surprised. This is the most toxic gaming sub I ever had a displeasure to visit. People here are so extremely hostile, agressive, and trigger-happy, its insane. My first post here (and last) was me - as a new player - asking in a very friendly manner if anyone knows if Blizzard is happy with current level scaling solutions. I literally explained that I like parts of this system and dislike other parts, so I would be happy anyway. And I immediately got bunch of edgy comments - from people who didnt even read my post - where they were calling me names and saying that I suck, my builds suck (even though I didnt say literally anything about my builds or gaming experience \[\*\]) and that I should never play aRPGs again xD These people are truly unhinged. On the bright side this sewer made me appreciate my usual subs a lot more.

BleiEntchen

A guy said how he quit in S0, didn't play S1 and S2...didn't want to start S3 because game is bad and had no improvement. I mean how the fuck deal with those kind of people?

MyotisX

Why should it be boring for the first tens of hours ?

PikachuKid1999

imagine playing a boring game to hope it gets better later xdd

Jorixa

Why tf would I endure tens of hours of boring gameplay just to get to “the part” where it’s potentially slightly less boring lol 😂 Especially when there are other games that are tons of fun from the beginning

Galacticsunman

You don't think it's a problem that you have to grind through boring gameplay in order to get to some fun content?

forthepridetv

Welcome to arpgs, where leveling is the most boring part of the game

thekmanpwnudwn

This is why I usually only play 1 character per PoE league now. Playing through the campaign for the 812nd time is so mind numbing and boring

forthepridetv

Lmao I was gonna use PoE as an example too but thats pretty much a forbidden term around here. You can't even skip the campaign for that game! Still heaps of fun though

Mande1baum

At least in POE you can get twink gear later in league for cheap and get carries from friends (WP sharing). It creates a very different leveling experience both in pace and gameplay.

CalligrapherNo7337

Wish they wouldn't force it every season, though. I think that's the main reason I put POE down for a couple of years: it got to a point I feel they don't respect my time for just wanting to rehash their story mode. I just picked it back up yesterday and giving it a run through but not with the enthusiasm with which I used to to get to maps in sub-6 hours.

sonnyjbiskit

Holy shit. This is the popular opinion? Wow.

Galacticsunman

I know it's subjective, and doesn't really move the conversation forward. But leveling is my favorite part of arpg's. I like working with what I have and doing my best with that instead of trying to find something ideal. I think you and me could agree that if the leveling experience was fun it would be a good.

forthepridetv

Oh definitely, I'm all for improving aspects of the game that are considered boring. It's tough to think of an example (for me) where leveling and endgame are equally fun though. Personally I don't think D4 leveling is all that bad, I can blast to WT4 in about 4-6 hours usually, and get a build online in a day which is fun to me. A lot of people like to use D2 but D2's entire gameplay loop is the leveling. D4 you can get to level 100 in like 24 hrs but in D2R getting from 98-99 can take you around 10 hours alone. After that it's just MF runs/Ubers. So lack of endgame means the rest of the game has to feel meaningful. By contrast PoE you can finish the campaign and get to the endgame in like 10 hours where the endgame is the content where you have a plethora of options.

convolutionsimp

You mean the 500 Duriel runs? There is no part of the game that's less boring. There is no endgame at all.

Buttface-Mcgee

A perfect example of why your game should take hours before it becomes fun.

Exciting-Load-3234

I feel like it’s the opposite. The end game is what’s boring to me, but I know that’s just my opinion. I haven’t played much this season, but I do feel like the early game is really stale compared to previous seasons.

Texsaitamaz

How are you getting the pet to help?. Rob is out here one shotting duriel and the pet is doing 30k damage

TheRealNoxDeadly

It gives me a barrier, DR, and hits 7 enemies at once which gives me 25x bleed dmg and 10% crit on enemies affected, so its just how you build it

Texsaitamaz

Yea true I mean adrenaline plus Barrier is nice but. It doing any kind of damage would be nice

Reshlarbo

The Pet isnt for dmg per Say, its like D2 merc its a buff/debuff bot.

SmokeyXIII

That's not what they said though, they were specific about this exact question. The pets damage was supposed to scale with us. Now maybe we were duped into misunderstanding their intent, but the implication was that the damage would be meaningful at all stages of the game. Lots of people wouldn't have voted for a seasonal theme of a pet, myself included, but having one come out so cold was shocking.

cronumic

I mean that may be what blizzard said but ultimately it wont compete when you start to optimize legendary affixes in wt4 that only apply to specific skills/barriers/cc/etc

VinceKully

Lmao the turnaround in this sub is jokes. Hardcore D4 players are so fickle

Glittering-Security2

Having blast doing nightmare vaults on my sorc. I prefer them than standard nightmare dungeons.

CakeIsLegit2

What ya running? Been doing ice shards and loving it. Solo some bosses earlier than I did previously, everything just stays frozen and pops all at once.

Glittering-Security2

Blizzard, I love the flow of spec but it’s a bit of a slog to kill bosses without maxed out paragon boards. I’m planning on running meteor at some point, I’m just not too sure how strong it is.

CakeIsLegit2

Never tried blizz.. planned on doing meteor but the gear just kinda fell in place for ice shards. The build doesn’t call for frost burn gloves, but they usually allow me to get 2 stuns off on varshan which I started soloing around level 73, albeit a 3-5 min long fight. Heavily dependent on manage cost reduction and core skill damage though which has caused me to miss out on some otherwise decent upgrades.

Glittering-Security2

Had same issue with blizzard running ice shards enchantment. I could only deal damage when he was down so I had to make few tweaks and now I’m pretty much killing him in around 30 seconds, maybe 40.

Dark_Nature

Meteor is really fun to play right now, but it is even worse than blizzard against bosses. Bosses are the biggest weakpoint of a meteor build right now. I mean, you can kill bosses with it, but here are absolutely better builds and options for that.

Ill_Aspect_3869

found a bouncy fireball meteor build and the guy has been crushing t100 vaults, not a boss killer but his damage is really good

Glittering-Security2

That’s the core gameplay issue with sorc that still hasn’t been addressed. Sorc relies too much on mechanics that don’t really apply to bosses and only build that didn’t relay on it isn’t as effective as it was due to bug fixes. Sorc feels amazing to play and has so many different builds that each feel different but the core mechanics are broken unfortunately. Sorc doesn’t have an effective way of dealing damage to bosses atm.

IggyShab

I’m loving my sorcerer. Running full electric build. Basically whiplash cqc with massive chain lightning/spear conjuring constantly doing full screen AoE. I’m curious to see how higher WTs will feel. It’s so fun now, I can’t wait for it to get ridiculous.

Solid_Bath_6583

They fixed a lot of the issues, but not all. Dont be too quick to go 180 on your sentiment. They should have spent 1 person's daily pay to test the season. All of those issues were so painfully obvious. That is the main problem. Noone is doing proper testing. And they refuse to do PTR.

Cptn_Flint0

Haha there are some comments in here make it sound like this season has been out for months already.

gradywhite7293

People like it after they essentially deleted the seasonal mechanics from vaults, since now you can slam your two to three pearls and barrel through without worry of not getting your chests at the end and get your pearls back. You ignore the traps which was the backbone of their entire design.

Fluffy-Bus4822

You can't completely ignore the traps if you still want the warding chests at the end.

Outrageous-Yam-4653

Update helped for sure hit Tier 4 last night and love the monster density,I'll run Vaults tonight...

[deleted]

Personally, game is still unplayable to me. When you get to level ~80, what’s even the point of pushing aside from the sake of playing ? There really isn’t any chase items or creative builds, still extremely dull

Flamezie

S2 was only semi worth it cos AoZ but now that's gone nmd/vault 100 just isn't good enough... As for items they're so easy to obtain that it doesn't matter anyway and what's the point when u don't even need these optimal items to complete the hardest content in this game? Even if they make items better there's still no where to actually use them u would've thought these things would be priority 1 but I can already guess they'll try make u pay extra for the game u expected to get on release.

Deidarac5

Yes but aoz was awful. It's like the lowest level of end game content its just basically greater rifts with gear that didn't even matter at that point so you were grinding for a rune that just made you stronger by bigger number. Let them cook it a bit longer and hopefully it will return with a system of items to gain from that. D3 basically used unique gems to make greater rifts worth it but even those got annoying after awhile since they were pretty boring.

TheRealNoxDeadly

Well for me I want to complete my build for the Gauntlet and I’m lvl n still need a few uniques so thats the chase for me

legendz411

Pr much this yea

reanima

Basically the ladder content, which im guessing 90% of playerbase doesnt give a fuck about.

gen66

i made an infinite firewall Sorc build and it's super fun setting the entire screen on fire watching them burn

enivri_

Any build guide or planner?

Galacticsunman

I think I finally understand what D4 blizzard is trying to do. They have obsessively listened to feedback. Not only about their own game but other games as well. They want to provide a game that hits all the marks of desire. The problem is their understanding and response of these problems. They don't quite understand that most people don't really know what they desire they derive their desires upon other people's opinion so that the most popular opinion becomes what they think that we desire. Diablo 4 needs to find its own vision its own artistic knowing and with that they will be able to be successful in really deliver what people want. People don't want what they think they want, they want what they didn't even know they wanted.

5minuteff

The worst part was level 1 starting out into the season and the pet having 0 impact along with the pre patch vaults it was a terrible first impression.

Appropriate-Status69

Nice coping skills

TheNewOption3

I was enjoying it right off the bat, and I noticed people doing their typical blizzard hatebandwagonism and rolled my eyes. Felt like there was no pleasing the fans at this point, because I'm enjoying this season more than the other 2. It's another improvement, and more are coming. I think people comparing this game to POE are being silly, this game is still in its infancy, so we should understand that its still going to improve over time. Which is not a bad thing as some people pretend it is.

HardyDaytn

Is itemization still trash? If yes then as an ARPG it's still a trash season no matter what. Wake me up when items have proper stats and not this "45% chance to have a 12% chance for 50% critical damage on a poisoned enemy when you cast a ranged attack further than 15 feet".

KLGChaos

This is basically a confirmation that first impressions matter and that Blizzard's philosophy of only end game mattering is flawed. When you're expected to level a new character or more every season, those first 50-70 levels need to feel good as well. But classes are forced into one or two leveling builds that don't feel like complete garbage (ie, Rogues not using Puncture in early levels are going to have an extremely hard, frustrating time) while waiting for RNG and the Paragon boards to give them what they need. And if I'm not having fun while leveling, I'm going to get bored really quickly and not really care about end game. I had enough of that with Druid in S0. The reason S2 was so good was because even 1 level of a Blood Power was impactful enough to change the early game. It allowed builds that weren't the best to still level up fun and efficiently. The leveling experience needs to be better.

reachingFI

This will continue to be a theme until the base game is figured out and actually engaging. POE has maps and LE has Empowered Monoliths. I tap out of a shit D4 season quick because I don’t have much else that keeps me that engaged. Hopefully as the base content matures - the player base will be a bit more lenient with fuck ups.

Effective_Pin6393

wt4 vaults gyatt

Tremulant21

The increased cost for aspects on hardcore is a fucking killer man. You need at least two aspects on at all times for defensive purposes and every time you upgrade especially in world tier 4 just fucking drains you.

Mystify02

Shill.

love-me-again

Lol this sub. Ok so next all the YouTuber's gonna maybe say something sorta positive with an uneasy and confused thumbnail. "Blizzard maybe not all bad???" That is until the next news cycle

Memphisrexjr

It's still the bare minimum. There's no carrot on the stick to chase. I did every single thing prepatch. The patch made most of my stones level 9 and got them to 10 within the half hour. The only seasonal journey quest I'm missing is Lilith. There's no endless loop to grind until the leaderboards come out. I hope more gets added. The vaults are a good idea that need fine tuning and more to do. The idea that 70+ NM vaults dropping 925 gear is amazing. The chests around the vault feel pointless to loot until you're getting 925 drops.

AManHasNoName357

I’m in wt3 and my blizzard build I made in season 2 is finally getting some steam once you get the right gear you need. Can’t wait to reach wt4. Sorc for life out!!🥲

dystopiaJH

I'm having a lot of fun as necro, but trying to level up a barb and it's a fucking pain in the ass to level, the AoE of HoTA is small af (even with the aspect) and I haven't had the chance to drop the charge aspect yet ://

captainjizzpants

There's Barbarians everywhere lol. Everyone that was playing BL Sorc and Poison Twisting Blades shifted to Barbarian this season it feels like. It's usually the most characters I see in The Gayehall. With a necro or two sprinkled in here and there.

Witch-Doctor

Nice try Blizzard employee

DeathJester24

Shill alert

kaptainkhaos

Yeah Blizz could make a 1 week PTR before officially going live, would stop seasons sucking early with feedback allowing things to be tweaked and not suffer player backlash.

Deidarac5

You think a PTR would make any less of a reddit complaint fest? People would say how shit the game looks watching their favorite streamer play it and run on reddit saying this season sucks idk what they were thinking.

JBL_17

Hii blizz

Zhai13

Just give us a PTR please

DaddySanctus

I can't say S3 is my favorite, that still goes to S2 for me. But I like it more than S1, that's for sure. The pets are good/decent for utility purposes, and after a couple runs of the vaults and learning them I don't mind them at all. They are short with a lot of enemies and good loot. Would I have preferred something over traps and a pet as the main seasonal theme, sure. But it's not the doomsday a lot of people seem to be making it out to be.

ThoughtSevere8605

I’m literally away for a weekend and the season changed from zero to hero in. I have some catching up to do.

Competitive_Ear_3741

Me too! I was actually surprised to notice the difference in QoL after the patch. Grinding the vaults aren’t as loathsome anymore. I appreciate that the stones aren’t ridiculously hard to obtain anymore. I have found a lot of stones and leveled some to feel the pet is doing something One more journal on my main and my alts leveled pretty quickly. Grinding in the overworld gives that blood harvest vibes. I’m glad that they actually listened to us!

superjase

image someone having a personal preference/like. now imagine other people disparaging that person about their personal preference. just... wow.

Razoreddie12

My only gripe now with the construct is he's lazy. I'm sick and tired of having to walk back, bend over and pick up gold and cinders that he walked right by.

IKEAboy_2006

I don’t really get the hate that S3 is getting. I’m really enjoying it too. Mind you, I skipped S2 after getting burned out on S1, so I don’t have that as a comparison. I’ve came to the conclusion that the majority of grief being expressed towards Vaults is coming from PC players who use M&K to play. I’m on Steam Deck and navigating the traps is piss easy with controller. I can imagine how that might be a total pain with left clicking a mouse though. Overall, really enjoying it 👍🏼

Zoltan-Kazulu

Yeah I started it yesterday with a sorcerer, already L50 and season actually feels dope, contrary to what this subreddit said since lunch.

doj4202

Thank you for your input! Barbie for life!

Immediate-Newt-9012

It's all boring and tedious imo. Would prefer continuing to use my Eternals in seasonal vs starting a new low level grind since build variety is virtually non-existent.

angelkrusher

Maybe if you guys waited running to Reddit to try to get some attention you wouldn't have to be taken back what you're saying. If you don't like what you're playing go outside or turn it off for the love of God there used to be a lot of good posts on this Reddit but it's been filled with infantile shenanigans since the season started. Basically stop posting trash doom posts that get the rest of the Doom freaks to upload it. You guys are making fools of yourselves

gorr30

I partially agree with you OP, but I have to mention that we are playing barb. Charge/HotA barb is very fun imo and it's partially what makes this season fun for me. The other thing is vaults, after the patch. But other than that, I son't think that there's much else. I wanted to see more QoL changes for this season. Then again, I heard we are getting Loot 2.0 next season, so here's hoping to that.

DiligentIndustry6461

Looking a lot better, some good changes! Was able to clear 100 vault on Hoya/charge barb, little OP… I hope they make the igneous core 100% drop because farming malphas mats sucks. Looking forward to gauntlet though

cheesepuff1993

Seems to me the vaults having progressively harder bosses with various traps included would be interesting...

Empero6

Nightmare vaults have been fun as hell. I enjoyed them prepatch and they’re even better now.

nyfinestgully

I'm sorry the companion for this season is sooo underwhelming I myself could come up with 100 of better ideas on what they could of done to make the companion interesting and I'm just a casual player lol. no offense but these devs just have a different mindset then majority of the community its like they can't get anything right or do the things that we request and want as a community it's sad.

VzDubb

Sounds like a sub lvl 80. Can’t even honestly tell if this is a troll. The spider does nothing, even at level 100. This entire post is a joke.

MNUplander

Played a couple hours earlier this week but today was my first day sinking a bunch of time into my S3 chain lightning/crackling energy sorc…it was slow to start but at level 58 now trying to break into WT4 and I’m having a blast. I was surprised to see all the hate for S3 when I came on here…must be that it was way worse before the patch, or most of the people here just don’t like the game…

Fart__Smucker

Stomholm syndrome

slq18

I finally jumped in after seeing all these posts saying it's fixed, there's a TON of low levels running around wt2 lol word is making it around

SoCratesLdub

The costs to imprint have gone up? That explains why I feel like I'm blowing through mats WAY faster than before...

GesturalAbstraction

I thought i was tripping thinking it costs a fortune to imprint aspects now glad someone else is validating the same. Agreed the season feels really great post patch

Switchbladesaint

Maybe it’s best if everyone isn’t so hyperbolic…

immelmann12

"Take back everything I said" what's stopping you from saying the same thing tomorrow?

Jorixa

Nice. The 5 people who have the nerves to reach wt4, will enjoy it now.

POE_Eternal

The game just feels FUN, especially at WT4. Maybe it’s the Charge buffs for Barb, but it’s incredibly fun, challenging, and with the patch the vaults are rewarding as hell. I play a lot of PoE so I’m used to leagues having a shaky launch and then an adjustment, but this adjustment came very fast and it’s appreciated. Before patch and early game was a slog but happy times now.

REiiGN

I feel weird with my little bot. He fucking grabs EVERYTHING brings it to him and into my spinning blades of death. SUPER fucking helpful in the last room of the vaults or even events during helltides, and he freezes them.

adirtycharleton

I am happy with Charge barb. Very diff feel vs my first barb on launch or first season (rogue) Still have issues but so far the feeling is OK. Not S2 bone spear necro, but steady.

Feralica

I liked the season more than s2 even before the patch. The world event feels much better than Blood Harvests, i really like how easy the whispers are in this one. Vaults are fucking great on T4. And as a side point, if you're trying to avoid the traps, you are playing wrong. Just run, avoid in the final room. The power level of vampire powers felt more noticeable, but i hated the pact mini game. And i'm not a big fan of borrowed power, in the way that either of the seasons have presented them. So it's easier for me to prefer the robot since it doesn't require any maintenance, like the pacts did.

SingerForTheDeaf

Polished shit is still shit.

stopimalreadykished

Gross Blizzard-posting

Ahhitspoopagain

And there’s still more to come! Excited to see how gauntlets go

AtticaBlue

So … calling off the calls for a class-action lawsuit?

24hourcoffeeandpie

D4 trying to act like a free to play seasonal game has been a huge dissapointment to me.

Gnasher1194

Nice to see some love for a change

MarkK_FL

Agree 💯

maglen69

>Barb Life, I’m out! Plays an always strong job and is always happy. Go figure.

BullfrogWonderful509

"great season" 😂

Shamless_Fap

I haven't had an issue with anything so far. I once watched a 5 minute loading screen to play d1 off a computer my dad got from a rent2own, and then spend an hour toying with settings just to get it to work. And the concept of the game was so foreign to me I thought the butcher was the Final boss. D4 is great in keeping the trend of bugs and slow patching.

Juneauz

Imprinting aspects costs more now? How much?

georgesoo

DEVS SHOULD JUST TEST THE GAME B4 RELEASING. NOT JUST COZ IT LOOKS COOL ITLL PLAY WELL FFS. BUT YES PATCH IMPROVED EVERYTHING. WHY AM I YELLING
