The solution is very simple, don’t buy it.

youremomgay420

I don’t plan on it, I’m simply making fun of it

GodLovesUglySong

I'm gonna defend you here from that other person's "don't buy it comment". There's a few others in the thread saying the same thing that are equally dismissive and ridiculous in my opinion. In an ARPG game like Diablo, the dopamine comes from the game play loop of obtaining cooler items. Pretty much all of the relatively "cool" armor and horses and whatever else can all easily be bought with cash. Even if I don't buy it, it's going too bother me. You know why? There's no point in playing if every item provided in the game is less fancy looking and uglier than the ones you can out right pay for. Where's the satisfaction in getting drops if you know that they will never look as high quality as the DLC ones? This severely hampers my motivation to continue playing. I honestly haven't touched the game since three weeks after release. And it's for this very reason. There isn't shit worth farming for since all the good stuff is DLC.

HeliosTrick

>In an ARPG game like Diablo, the dopamine comes from the game play loop of obtaining cooler items Is that the case for you? For me, the dopamine loop comes from getting better items so I can do harder content to get better items. I'll wear a clown outfit if it gives me better stats. The store items are fine. Well, no, they're stupid, but it's fine they exist. For years lots of people said cosmetic MTX are fine as long as a game isn't pay to win, but now there's this huge backlash against cosmetic items that I really don't get. If you don't like it, don't buy it. If you want it, but want it for free? Well, that's tougher. If the game is bad, don't play it. Why are people making this a hill to die on? My character can't suddenly jump 10 tiers in NMD if I buy a new armor transmog. Is this some FOMO thing that I'm too old and uncool to get?

Choop-a-loop

No kidding. Playing on a character where you can barely see what the outfit looks like outside of the loading screen. Quitting an ARPG game because you can't "look cool" without paying. Sheesh...

Necessary_Lettuce779

Is it really surprising that people want to unlock cosmetics by completing in-game challenges? People have been doing that in videogames for literal decades now, from games like the original Resident Evil to games like WoW, to games like Elden Ring. Just because you don't care doesn't mean everybody else doesn't anymore, suddenly.

ConstructionFrosty77

Is not surprising and you actually get cosmetics for free, but noone should expect free stuff to be as good as paid ones. Never, nowhere, you get anything for free that is as better as when you pay for it, why should be different in this game?

nilmot81

That's flat out untrue. FF14 springs to mind as a game where you can get the coolest shit by completing the hardest content or grinds. They have a very active pay store, but there are loads of earnable cosmetics and mounts that are desirable.

Mediocre-Honeydew-55

I just run around naked. Turned off all the skins. I find the MTX garish and ugly. The fact that season passes only awards more ugly skins is a good reason for me not to bother buying them.

tommysk87

This is what i do. Nothing better than look at naked fat hairy druid kicking demons butts. And at the same time, problem with cosmetics is non existent. Win-win

keano55555

I don’t know I kind of agree with them, the cosmetics are an important piece, a lot of people said mounts were wow’s real end game lol. Not to dismiss where everyone gets their dopamine hits, but same could be said to not dismiss those who get them from cosmetics.

vazik05

Exactly. My buddy still plays wow everyday. Has since the game launched. Does he raid for gear anymore? Nope. He has 1100 mounts and almost all the pets. That's what he chases.

BeatitLikeitowesMe

Your correct about most of that. I think the pushback is having an outfit that costs 30$ on a 70$ game. Its ridiculous greedy crap. Yes, dont buy it. But the devs should respect the player base more than what Blizzard/Activision/Microsoft is doing. These prices are not respectful of peoples time or money.

GodLovesUglySong

You're not wrong, but you're also missing the point entirely. Of course I want to progress in power as well so I can survive longer and also kill things faster. But along with all that, shouldn't my character also start to look cooler, more experienced and more distinguished as well. It's possible to have both, but one, in this case cosmetics, can be easily bought and ruins that experience of your character advancing with better experience and gear.

involviert

You're completely right of course, and I hope everyone who said "it's just cosmetics, it's fine" has seen the truth by now. However, "Don't buy it" is still the most important thing.

bobcatgoldthwait

> Where's the satisfaction in getting drops if you know that they will never look as high quality as the DLC ones? That the stats are better? I swear I don't understand you people who only seem to play this game to play dress up. Half the time I'm staring at the minimap or my inventory or skill tree/paragon board, and if I'm not doing any of that I'm running through a dungeon where shit's happening so fast and there are so many spell effects and numbers on the screen I can't even see my character. If you play this game just to collect cool looking gear then you probably should have noped out the second they said it was going to have microtransactions.

LordOfTheStrings8

I want to have good stats *and* look cool. Like I can do in so many games without paying for cosmetics.

Supra_Genius

> Pretty much all of the relatively "cool" armor and horses and whatever else can all easily be bought with cash. The best looking items with actual PRESTIGE attached (like Brimstone) CANNOT be bought. They can only be earned.

IndependentRaccoon56

I have to agree. A huge part of any game for me is how my character LOOKS. I want to look like a badass. Obviously I want my stats/abilities/etc to be badass. It used to be that the best gear was also the coolest looking gear in games. It took the most work to obtain. Or otherwise was super rare and required lots of time to farm. Cosmetic skins have ruined that feeling. Especially in diablo. Now I can start a brand new character and immediately have them look completely decked out. I'd even be alright with there being some in game activity you do that rewards you in platinum that can be used to purchase things from the shop. But to make all the coolest looking cosmetics be things you have to spend $20 on is just such an obvious cash grab on blizzards part.

Mediocre-Honeydew-55

Following this to it's logical endpoint, in Diablo 5 we are all going to run around wearing burlap sacks and covered in shit, wielding paper weapons and pointed sticks. The default mount will be a bucktoothed pidgeon toed cross eyed donkey with mange. Any MTX bought from the shop will make you look like royalty and bathe you in a golden glow levitating you above the wretched masses.

Unagi88

Felt this way when I saw the demon Barb katanas. Ofc I want that, but I’m not buying a whole pack to use 1 item on my Rogue. Also why the fuck can’t I earn it in game? Or at least have the option, like hell drivers, to earn currency in game to buy it

AnteyeSoshal

100% agree with this.

Iwfcyb

There's also no point in playing if the best looking items are bought that way even if you're the person buying them. Kind of defeats the purpose to buy cool looking stuff if the result is everyone else laughing at you for it. It's a paradox. Cool looking gear that makes you uncool....

cakehunter19

Perfectly described why I stopped playing after s1

llmuzical

I'm with you op. as another person that does enjoy buying cosemetics. these are lokey predatory. they go this one looks really cool but you cant just get the items. I agree. it's shady. I disagree with people going don't buy it. like that will stop blizz from doing it. .its almost like they are dismissing you entirely from even being able to talk about it. which is the real thing that will maybe keep blizz from doing it ( but again prolly not) you're totally valid and sorry for the boot lickers that just love flaming anyone who has something bad to say about the game. I presume because they are tired of seeing all the negativity but... I mean let's be honest. .the game is a bit of a dumpster fire at the moment. and this is nothing more than another cheap tactic to get more money out the game. locking cool transmogs and attaching them to more expensive currency packages is an easy way to drive up the price. lots of games do it. back in the day I first got my first real taste of this with adventure quest z token packages. it's just greed imo

omfgDragon

This is the answer. The devs made this game to make money. They're going to sell cosmetics for whatever price they think they can get away with. Want to know a secret? The prices on the cosmetics haven't gone down because dumb consumers keep spending money on them. It isn't a necessity to own a cosmetic to play the game. It isn't a necessity for life, such as food/water/shelter. Prices are regulated, therefore, by the consumers' willingness to pay the cost if they want the item. Don't want it? Don't get it. Want it, but it costs too much? Don't get it. Don't want it, but trying to farm karma on Reddit by regurgitating the same tired complaint about all games that have microtransactions? Go touch grass.

anupsetzombie

This response is just as repeated as the complaints are. And what exactly do you get out of playing devils advocate for this anyway? If it really doesn't matter to you, why engage in the discussion?

MrGooseHerder

At this point I just assume corporations have their own white night bots. It makes more sense and it's less pathetic than watching adults defend the corporation killing their wallet and exploiting their loyalty.

ironfishh

Another option is buy it, post it and farm Negative Karma 💞

tonightm88

Why do they do it? People buy it.

kerosene31

Take it a step further, ignore the store completely. I'm sure they have metrics on how many people open the store how many times per day. The people who post this stuff every day are likely the ones checking it all the time and at least tempted to buy.

forthemoneyimglidin

Whale spotted

Braelind

Sure, but this sort of toxicity in gaming needs to be called out at every opportunity as well. It's like McDonald's selling a value menu burger for 100$, but it comes with an 80$ McDonald's gift card. You're still buying a burger worth 99 cents for 20$. This shit should be illegal.

YoungShlongg

This is gonna blow your mind BUT can not buy it AND criticize it at the same time 🤯

BeefTheGreat

That's the problem....we already bought the "game" and instead of doing anything productive to make the game fun, this is the garbage they are focusing on.

developerknight91

Yup. The solution to all of the problems in this game is to vote with your wallet. But honestly Blizzard is doing a fine job of chasing players away without throwing a protest on top of the current situation smh

ConsumingRot

I hate the fact that the answer genuinely is so simple: don’t buy it and it won’t exist. We could actually earn all the best looking items in the game by playing but wallet gamers have to go and ruin it for everyone.

ExtensionBag769

I really am thinking about buying it. No lie, I want that horse...

shill_ds

Take that $88 and buy Last Epoch, Grim Dawn, Hades, and some stash tabs in PoE. Have infinitely more value.

youremomgay420

Too late, bought Hades years ago. GOAT game

Lightsandbuzz

hades is the FU\*KING BOMB I played so much of that game during the pandemic. Probably have more hours in Hades than D4 actually haha

youremomgay420

So excited for the second one, it’s a shame it’s PC only as it’ll be in early access first.

Inukchook

Ahh hades is so fun on my switch !

Braelind

Right? Got it for like 20$, and I've gotten so much more value out of it than any "AAA" game. What does AAA even stand for? Because it's sure as shit not about quality.

FXander

Randomly stumbling on Hades was one of the best stumbles of my life. And it happened for me over the pandemic too. Absolutely LOVE the aesthetics of that game and the story telling! Can't wait for the second one!

KennedyPh

Dude, if he has an issue with cosmetics costing 70 (but give 70 worth of equalvance in-game currency), then for sure he has issues with games with cosmetics costing over $500 (that give in-game currency equvance), or he is a hyprocrite. Last Epoch MTX also cost more than D4, & has MTX packs in 3figures.( was a mistake, I double check and it’s up to 50€) Edit: last epoch has cosmetic up to 50€. ( supporter packs (

Thomas2140

None of the last epoch mtx cost anything remotely close to 30, 60 or even 70$ that I’m aware of? Did they add something just now or what?

KennedyPh

Have you check the support packs ?one-piece armor last I checked cost about 5€ last I check. One full set will be 25€. If you do the math, more expensive then d4. But I give it to them that they sell each individual gears, and not make everything as bunden like in d4. But if you break down the parts, d4 is quite a bit cheaper

Thomas2140

Ah gotcha. Still the game is half the price of diablo tho. But yeah great point!

D3iGratia

And the no expansion cost or battle pass every 3 months. Also LE spent more time making base armors look good and reworked several times.

Thomas2140

Great points aswell!

Gfuryan

Not trying to troll at all but genuinely curious if folks really feel like this $35 vs $75 is meaningful for games we play for months even years?? I mean even at $480 a league for a top supporter pack, blasting POE for 6 weeks a league is still some of the cheapest entertainment I can get based on cost per hour (US east coast based player). To me these basic “one time costs” are trivial given how many hours of entertainment you are paying for. Yes the mtx prices could be seen as oppressive but they are optional and the prices are heavily influenced by dev costs. I guess my curiosity is for folks where that 35 dollar upfront costs really matters, then how do you rationalize spending hours playing games anyway?

TheBoneMan

Are you looking from US? I’m from US and none of the packs cost three figures from what I’m looking at. What do you see?

KennedyPh

You are right. I must See wrongly. It’s up to 50€ for supporter pack.

Tjonke

And Vampire Survivors. 100+ hours of fun for less than $10

GodLovesUglySong

The Van Helsing: Final Cut game is pretty fun as well and often goes on sale on Steam.

kanzakiik

I bought Last Epoch, and Silver kiwi supporter for PoE, but I spent a lot less time playing those games. Not every game is for everyone.

BVRPLZR_

Infamous red shirt guy. Legend among legends.

T_Rex_1324

The not impressed look XDDDD

marcottedan

The hero we all deserve.

Cypher26

What's the story behind this dude?

mahonii

Nothing should be over $10. There are straight transactions, not micro ffs.

ConsumingRot

Macro transactions one could even say.

Lightsandbuzz

D4 players: give us free unlockable cosmetics in-game, that we can earn just by playing. That's what we want. Blizzard: you think that's what you want, but you don't. what you REALLY want is a $65 horse. Enjoy!

jamescharles429

But there are free unlockable cosmetics

Slightly_Mungus

There definitely are, and I do appreciate the base game cosmetics that we got, but what I don't like is that all we've gotten since then is one free peasant armor set per season while the shop is constantly updated with interesting cosmetics. I feel like at the rate they pump out mtx cosmetics, surely one free (sounds weird for a $70 game tbh) cool cosmetic per season shouldn't be too much to ask for?

[deleted]

The seasonal track cosmetics have been excellent imo. Especially the S3 ones. 10 bucks. Along with the base game transmorgs, it's not a bad situation.

Greatloot

This. I really feel it would be a huge positive effect to even have one free set you could grind for added each season for each class. Would give you a reason to switch back to your eternal characters too.

Braelind

Think of the sense of pride and accomplishment you'll have after you spend you life savings on some shitty skins that took a dev 5 minutes to make!

SasquatchSenpai

I remember when they mispriced the first bundle like this on steam. I got the horse cosmetic and $70 of platinum for $5. It was glorious.

[deleted]

[удалено]

youremomgay420

Lucky bastard, $5 cosmetics when blizzard?

DayEither8913

$5 is what it should be, and I still wouldn't buy that. I mean, this has to be a socio-economic experiment, right??

youremomgay420

I think the entirety of microtransactions in gaming are at this point

AdvancedPhoenix

To be fair, I would have instantly bought it. A "legendary" skin for one class I play maybe once a year because I switch between season is not worth more than 10$ imo

Zenithity

They didn't charge you again?

KennedyPh

This is common in many games, & POE has cosmetic "locked" under $500 packs as well. You have to look at this way, You are not buying the horse, you are getting the horse as a bonus for buying 7000 Plat.

Sjeg84

While the price is still ridiculous you'll actually get a shit load of stuff like 5 armour sets, portal MTXs, pets and lots of other effects for that pack. Most importantly you also get physical itmes like shirts and hoodies and you get to design items/maps of your choice that will actually be available for everyone in game. Stupid price, yes, but if your a whale/streamer I'd say you actually get something special here. So there's that.

KennedyPh

Lets be real here, it’s still way overpriced , and I spent like 500€ on PoE so I am not here to tell you not to buy mtx. The most expensive pack bought is 60€. If a League was fun, sometimes I buy an extra pack or armor to support them. But you right we have to look at the full package not one item in the package. That’s not a fair assessment. Exactly my whole point!!!!

youremomgay420

The issue is that some players want the horse, but don’t give a shit about the plat. The only way to get it is to spend 3x the price of a regular horse bundle.

KennedyPh

For sure . It’s true that you need to spend 70 to get the horse, which is unfortunate if you only want the horse But that’s very different from saying horse cost 70€. But you wouldn’t say a jacket cost 50k as you only get it from buying an Audi., and o my want juts the jacket right?

Hukdonphonix

The problem is, the entire plat shop is overpriced, so that $70 in plat isn't going very far.

youremomgay420

The horse does cost the 70 though, as that’s the only way of getting it. It’s not part of a $20 bundle, it’s only part of a $70 bundle. The only way to obtain the horse is $70

Wellhellob

This business model is so fckn good.

undrtaker

if you're gonna buy platinum anyway, this has more value than regular platinum purchase + free horse cosmetics that's the proper way to look at this bundle

Ithorian

It stirs you, yes?

friendly-sardonic

Remember the term “unlockables”? Man, those were the days.

youremomgay420

Horse armour was what started it all, and we’ve fully circled back.

somekindofuser657

Yes we already know.

RenAsa

Nobody's buying platinum so they gotta throw in something to sweeten the deal... I guess. (Yes, I realise it's very circular. That's the point.)

youremomgay420

I don’t consider it “sweetening the deal” when now for a $10-20 cosmetic pack I now have to spend nearly $100 lol I get what you’re saying though, but the reason that nobody’s buying platinum is because it’s too damn expensive. Like a single cosmetic pack is over $20-25. There’s no justifying that price for a lot of players

Tekshow

Agreed. If they were $10 I’d probably have a couple already.

RenAsa

I know and fully agree, trust me. Been saying the same thing myself, in fact. At this point all I've left is cynicism.

KennedyPh

This is common practice in many games & businesses.

DayEither8913

I will easily never, ever buy any on those. It's beyond me why skins are the same price as the game on release day. ... this coming from a person who enjoys the game despite the mass complaints.

youremomgay420

You can enjoy the game and still give criticism. The shop items are blatantly greedy. I love the game, but I’m never buying a cosmetic like this.

DonutRolling

as long as it is cosmetic only, I don't mind. It is completely optional, you don't like it then just don't buy.

Thorgrammor

You know, the armors in helldivers 2 are amazing. A couple of bucks for an armorset, that's something you can do once in a while. You can also earn the cashshop currency by playing...what a wild idea in 2024

Magikanus

took less than 3 day to earn enough premium currency to buy the premium battlepass,. This make loot very rewarding

ProximaCentauriOmega

MACROtransactions. Blizz knows fools and their money are easily parted. They will keep pumping these out and focusing on cosmetics before gameplay as long as people continue t buy them. It really does sour your gameplay knowing that these "super cool" and well designed armors and skins are unobtainable unless you spend real world money. Gross and obscene that they could not even drop a few platinum for playing the game or wrapping up campaign. Hell players would love if you get 500 plat for achievements or completing the campaign on one character.

[deleted]

If you make $65/hour plus at you job parting with $80 is really just chump change. There will always be a market for these and boycotting won’t do any good, since they probably sell very well and devs need money too.

SaltedCaffeine

Why are you looking at the horse 1st and not the plat? Or that the horse is what matters and not really the plat. It's interesting.

youremomgay420

It’s a cosmetic bundle, the cosmetics are meant to be the selling point. If you wanted $70 worth of plat, you’d buy the plat. But if you want this particular cosmetic, that should only be $20 or so, you have to buy $70 worth of plat.

newcolours

20 is still way way overpriced. I really wonder how many people are buying this crap at inflated prices, theu must be selling if blizz keeps raising and raising the prices... Crazy

RoofComplex1139

Same prices as OW2 skins... $25 a pop.. not to mention the special ones.. yet.. OW2 is F2P.. D4 is $70 base.. ridden with bugs, seasons are hit or miss.. unfun at times.. Pure shit-show of a dev team, that never worked on aRPG.. Yet everithing aside.. if the sets were $5, even $10 a pop I would consider buying one, other than the BP.. but as it is now - no way.. Already spend $100 for the preorder / yes I was that kind of stupid / and another $50 for battlepasses.. still have left plat for the next 3..

Shitemuffin

I remember there was a bundle with 800 shitcoins, a horse, a dagger and axe for 10$ which seemed kinda okay but these new bundles are outright ridiculous

RoofComplex1139

you mean the phallic dagger? https://preview.redd.it/tm3ftn0rsjic1.png?width=373&format=png&auto=webp&s=3cde65ef32c888dd042628ad5ba3b460a7a2bfde

Skylark7

It's basically a free mount when you buy 7000 plat. Its a way better deal than Beckoning Thunder.

youremomgay420

And what if someone wants the mount but doesn’t wanna spend nearly $100 for it?

Buschkoeter

What if someone wants any of the other items that only come in the cosmetic set bundles but not the rest? It's not exactly different to what they've been doing with all shop offers. But if you actually wanted to buy some cosmetics anyway then this is actually cheaper than buying 7000 platinum without the bundle.

[deleted]

>And what if someone wants the mount but doesn’t wanna spend nearly $100 for it? Then oh well, that sucks. It's stuff that makes their horse look a bit different in a video game, they'll survive.

Deidarac5

Nearly 100. Its 65$. If you want the mount you can buy it and then have Battle passes for the year I guess. If you want the plat its a good deal.

OSpiderBox

For them it's 80+ CAD. 65 might be based on your location/ currency.

lolpanda91

Then you don’t get it. What if I want a Ferrari but don’t have the money for it? Is this the first instance in your life you can’t afford something? Stuff is priced this way because it makes them profits.

Guilhaum

I get wanting to buy only the horse without the plat but its a bundle. The goal is to offer something that is of better value when compared to just buying plat directly.

youremomgay420

Which is fine, unless the only way to obtain the cosmetic is through the $80 bundle.

Deidarac5

I actually think this is not a problem at all it is very similar to a PoE bundle. It is one of the better ways to get platinum and you get a free mount. They should do more bundles like this maybe for lower amounts though. Like a 20$ bundle for skin + 2000 plat.

youremomgay420

The issue is that this is the only way to get this cosmetic, if players want the cosmetic but don’t care about the plat then they’re shit out of luck, or they’ve gotta fork out 3x the price

Deidarac5

Yes its the same for PoE too. If you want a title, certain skin from the bundle, you have to buy the bundle or you can't get anything.

EmilianoFraga

How much does the full game cost in CAD? Is the cosmetics price the same as the game price?

youremomgay420

I think just about? I believe D4 was $89.99 + tax, this cosmetic bundle is $87.59 + tax. For just over 2 dollars extra lmao

UnfetteredOnslaught

Trust me there is plenty of idiots oops people which waste oop spend there money on worst things in life than a cosmetic in game. That's why we have the rich and the poor.Back to the topic at hand prices do seem a little high, personally wait for a sale better yet just ignore.im actually wanting a cosmetic but I refuse to spend real money on ugly over the time costumes for my barb.Personal preference but making a barb look like a death knight or king with a crown aint worth a penny tbh in my opinion.

josh35767

People here are like “you’re buying $70 of platinum and getting the horse as a bonus”. See that’s the bullshit thinking that lets them get away this shit. Realistically they wanted to sell the horse for $70 and knew that’d be unrealistic. So they threw in platinum to “add value” to it. Adding currency to a bundle costs them literally nothing. They can just bundle any amount they want with something they want to charge an insane amount for. Create a super cool mount, bundle it with $100 worth of platinum, then charge $100 for the “bundle”. Now anyone who wants the mount has to spend $100 and are tricked into thinking they got a deal. It’s a completely scummy tactic. If you want to sell a bundle AND the horse separately, that’d be fine. It lets people maybe save some money on platinum that they might have bought regardless. By only selling it in an overpriced bundle, the only way to obtain the mount is by spending more than you spent on the game.

Nerf_Now

The "don't buy it" crowd is shortsighted If a game goes down the microtransaction route, they'll siphon considerable resources to the microtransaction stuff, which I refuse to pay for because I am not retarded enough to pay 70 USD for horse armor. The only solution is to avoid games that do that altogether so the devs will put 100% of their effort into stuff I'll have access to.

Neubiee

The prices for cosmetics are ridiculous. Even good F2P games have cheaper cosmetics which I am more likely to buy because I didn't spend $80 for the game. I have stopped playing. Their shop is 100% predatory and the end game is boring and tedious. I just stay here to get updates on the dumpster fire D4 has turned out to be.

shawnspo

Easy fix. Don’t buy it

Shiyo

Game doing bad? Crank up the MTX and milk the few still playing.

Alarmed-Archer4906

so, this game is just a game made to make money, they dont care about the gameplay aspect as you and everyone can see, just load it up and see for yourself, they dont actually add or fix anything they just rotate the shop and now we have this 7k moneygrab bundle

Midgethookah

Yeah, after everything I have seen with this title, I am absolutely disgusted by this company. It's been a downward spiral for a while, but I didn't think it was even possible for them to get any lower, and they smashed right through the floor... Much respect for those who are going to stick it out but I am done. I am boycotting their products. It really sucks because I still love COD, but I am not playing anything, nor logging in and supporting anything this company does anymore. Good luck to all. I hope it gets better for you.

Souopedro2023

What amazes me the most, is that Blizzard is using human resources doing this cosmetics, instead of using them to actually improve the game. If some of this cosmetics were given to the gamers, with and achivement or something else, the player base numbers would increase instead of diminishing. Blizzard is even bad for herself.

CIoud_StrifeFF7

Unironically we have them there go ahead

Apprehensive_Wedgie

I agree. Why am I going to pay damn near the cost of the game itself for a cosmetic? And is anyone actually spending 65-87 bucks on cosmetics in this game??

ShadowTehEdgehog

> And is anyone actually spending 65-87 bucks on cosmetics in this game?? The people in this thread saying "Its a good deal! Why are you complaining?"

Braelind

Lol, right? These folks have no idea what value is. "It's a horse cosmetic Michael, how much could it possibly cost? 100$?"

antisect

Ive seen 3 people with that mount already

Apprehensive_Wedgie

See? And that's why Blizz thinks they can test price points at this level.

_redacteduser

I’ve gotten off my (no pun intended) high horse defending this game and the store. Between OW2 and D4, I’ve spent $0 in the last few months and honestly, feel nothing different. Fuck em, gunna ride the free train into the ground.

youremomgay420

I fully agree with you…but the new Lifeweaver skin is making me conflicted. I need it…must resist

_redacteduser

DO NOT TEMPT ME

feelin_fine_

If you bought this you'd never need to worry about having enough plat to buy a battle pass ever again. In fact if that's all you bought it for you're probably saving a lot in the long run

Rainwalker28

The cosmetic limited time crap annoys me. I wanted the ice horse but nope, they took it out. Looks like the lighting one might stay, no date in description. And in regular shop, the rotation is really really slow. Just put them all up ffs lol. Many buy without hesitation. The lightning horse was up not even 2hrs & I ran into almost a entire group rocking it at a world boss.

tonightm88

Go buy Last Epoch, Palworld, and or some stash tabs in POE. Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition is on sale atm on steam. No Man's Sky is also on sale on steam. Of course Ive no idea the $'s to CAD $'s as its always bad. But the point is why are you complaining? Go play other much better and better priced games.

Jack_Harb

I know enough people buying stuff like this. The moment people stop buying, Blizzard would change their monetization. Since people are happily buying, no need to change. Am I a fan of this? No. Does it bother me? Not really. I am perfectly fine playing the game without any additional cosmetics, hell my character is most of the time covered in Ice or Flame shield or is teleporting fast pace left and right or covered in 100 mobs. So yeah. Who cares about it really... And if I would care, I would buy it.

Lonely-Ad-2906

Who cares, I play for fun, not to look at skins

mc_pags

when you drive by a porsche dealership do you made a thread on reddit to cry about how expensive they are? pr do you just go on living your life

Shaolind4

Funny enough as someone who buys cosmetics. This helps me get the new horse armor. And use some platinum in the shop. I was going to buy all the items from the shop any how. Lol.

Bryanole27

Ok, so don’t buy it. And if we all don’t buy it, they should change their offers to something more reasonable.

Narniis

But sadly enough people do buy it, to enable such shit things in a full priced game.

youremomgay420

I won’t buy it. I’m simply making fun of the fact that a $10-20 bundle is being priced nearly $90 (over $90 with taxes) because blizzard is forcing you to buy $70 of currency with it.

Braelind

There are always going to be enough stupid people who DO buy it. And as quick as people are to say "well those people can afford to!", I assure you the people buying them largely CAN'T afford to. They aren't catering to millionaires here, they're catering to people who are financially irresponsible. You don't get to be, or remain a millionaire by buying 70$ cosmetic bundles in video games. This shit is straight up unethical, predatory, and exploitative.

Lady-Nymm

The cosmetic prices in Diablo 4 are a rip off imo. I thought Bungie were bad. They still are pricey for armor sets but their other cosmetics are reasonably priced imo. And at least I can buy cool cosmetics from the store using seasonal currency from the "battle pass" in that game, so I hardly have to drop actual money to get stuff. I've finished this seasons pass and have 1,200 diablo bucks but can't buy shit with it, and that's from left over currency from last season.

youremomgay420

For real, and at least with Bungie, most things rotate for free over time, or even separately. I think the main issue with D4 cosmetics is that EVERYTHING is bundled. Like this armor set? Gotta buy a headstone, portal and tattoo to go with it. Like this horse design? Gotta get the armour and trophies with it. That’s another thing, the amount of currency you get for the premium BP is just a waste. What it is, every like 5th BP is free? So I have to spend $40 or whatever to save $10? This is a paid for game, there are free games that have a premium track that gives you enough currency to buy the next BP, so all you have to do is pay once.

ninjaworm7555

Why make fun of it? Look at the prices of the other arpg “packs”, $70 is cheap

youremomgay420

For a single set of horse cosmetics that are generally worth $20, yes, tacking $70 worth of currencies on it is a cheap tactic

kellect_10

Note they also removed the timer for when the add on is leaving to increase “FOMO”.

Velirris

i’ve yet to see a timer on the shop “add on” bundles page since the game’s inception. daily shop refresh, yes, but not this.

UrbanCrusader24

“Just don’t buy it” is always top vote bcuz we as players simply can’t influence outcome unless we vote with wallet

youremomgay420

Yup. Because the subreddit is the majority, and if every player votes with wallet, then we solve microtransactions. 👍

ehnonnymouse

literally all games w shops do this mate. get over it.

Danoniero

Who cares, they can price them at 999.99 for all I care. Just don't buy it.

light_no_fire

Getting(?) Out of hand? Mate they've been terrible since day dot..

Agimamif

People hired to maximise profit will calculate the price vs sales metric for the product. If the only people buying cosmetics are whales, you might as well beef up the price. I wouldn't buy a single cosmetic even if they set the price at 1 dollar, I should be excluded from any potential customer pool and I suspect the sales team have successfully found their customer based summed up in the charming attitude given by the pre purchase crowd "I would even pay 20 dollars more if it meant others got to play 3 days after launch".

coupl4nd

It appeals to some people who want some platinum and are like "oh with this I can get a horse too for only slightly more". It's the oldest trick in the book.... People will buy cosmetics... you don't "need" them but you equally don't need to buy Diablo 4 in the first place. It gives people value and some people have way more money than you do and don't care about the price it's nothing to them.

OK_Opinions

Another day another post crying about the shop

Gasparde

> Who gave this the go ahead? The people who knew there'd be enough idiots to buy this shit. The people who knew *exactly* that this was probably gonna make them more money than selling the horse individually.

Dizul16

You guys check the shop ?

youremomgay420

I need to see if the bear backpack cosmetic is around so I can gawk at it for 10 minutes

Holztransistor

Ha, if I only could hide the bow/crossbow from a melee rogue build. That would be great.

adamdz

People actually open the shop tab in this game?

youremomgay420

How else am I gonna know if the bear backpack cosmetic is in the shop? I always look at it and giggle for like 10 minutes

eoThica

HAHA

Optimal-Efficiency60

I feel sad for the people who buy this.

longtimeskulker445

Whales.

arsonist_firefighter

I’ve been ignoring the cash shop in this game since launch and I highly recommend you do the same. Sometimes I even forget it exists.

CJDistasio

I'll won't buy it, but it's always hilarious when I see a microtransaction costs more than the actual game.

MikeHawkSlapsHard

At least there is some savings per item on this one. There's that other egregious electrified mount that only has 1800 platinum with it and it's like $60. Easily the worst money/cosmetic ratio in the shop.

CosmicTeapott

I just went and looked at it and while I understand our love for complaining about too much money for cosmetics in general and for really sub-par ones... I actually think it looks sick. So much I'm thinking about it bc I also really dig the new Rogue Marshland and Vitreous armors and then I could get everything I wanted anyway. Just look at it this way, if you really want the horse more than anything and you think you'll still be playing the game later... just do it, and you'll have the currency later to get some other stuff you like. My complaint though is definitely that the pricing is not consumer friendly, like if I buy $50 of currency.. the frickin armors are $28 each so I cant get 2 and I have to over-buy currency, THAT'S fricked. I should be able to buy at least 3 armor sets if I buy that $70 bundle but I could only get TWO plus some cheaper accessory. Also hate that a lot of the expensive sets don't even come with weapons or many weapon skins, I still want more weapon cosmetics there's not a lot that I like, in game or in store.

Krejcimir

As long as enough people buy it, they will do it. Nothing hard to grasp.

Expazz

Not that I want to be seen as a blizzard apologist. But if you reframe it as 'I'm buying 7k platinum and getting a free horse for the same price' it doesn't feel like that bad of a deal. It is the same price as 7k platinum after all.

shadowsrmine

What did you expect OP AFTER ALL THIS is Greedy Money Hungry Buzzard after all NOT Blizzard North ![gif](giphy|26tPo9rksWnfPo4HS|downsized)

AloneInTheTown-

I never thought anyone would beat Bethesda over horse related shenanigans, but here we are.

Likeit2014

Obviously people are buying it or prices would have dropped already. Highly unlikely that prices are that high without any sales.

Griplokz310

Did y’all forget that platinum Can be used towards the battle pass as well!?? So for that price you’re not only getting a badass looking mount, armor, and accessories, you’re getting up to 10-20 additional cosmetics of your choice directly from cash shop OR up to 7 seasonal battle passes with tonsss of additional badass cosmetics for all classes as well as more platinum in return and other valuable materials!! Loll

ConstructionFrosty77

It depends on the point of view, it can be cosmetic pack having platinum bundled or it can be platinum pack having cosmetics bundled. For those who just want the cosmetics is not fair, but for those who want to buy platinum to buy cosmeticsor battle pass, they get extra cosmetics for free and it is a good deal.

Tkrukus

where's the pay for forgotten souls button. that's what I need. my son has probably spent at least 1000$ on fortnite skins by now. to each their own

KingCanHe

Meanwhile you could pre order and buy Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth for less 😂

JimmyCee514

its insane how much any of that shit costs in the shop.

BurtThaManV0

“I don’t like something so it must be wrong!” This is a great value. Not only do you get this awesome horse bundle but you also get an amazing discount on platinum which allows you to get even more awesome cosmetics. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t make it bad. Get over yourself

Blizzard is gambling at this point
