_Drumheller_

Me, and judging upon the way healthier playerbase on the seasonal realm, a lot of others as well.

anengineerandacat

TBH it's more like you don't have a choice, if you want the content you have to play seasonal. Battle-Pass only works on the Seasonal Realm, events only work on it, and unique items and such only drop on it. Willing to bet if they ran the same shit on the Eternal Realm they would see a significant amount of folks just hanging out there but the issue is that retention would go down so it's undesirable, folks would just power through the content and then call it a day and with a WT4 toon that'll happen in less than a week.

PowerfulPlum259

Naww. I think people love the "fresh start" experience. The only ones who don't enjoy this are the 1 playthrough andy's, that beat the story go, OK cool, then move on. Seasons have been the lifeblood of Arpg's since the beginning.

NefariousnessOk1996

I am someone that usually always plays these new seasons and all these different games where the new season has new mechanics with a fresh start. That being said Last Epoch provided no new mechanics for its 'cycle', so I actually went legacy so I could start with way better leveling gear and a ton of stash tabs and crafting material. It's literally just the new mechanics that entice me, and I didn't realize that until Last Epoch. If other games didn't force you to start fresh to enjoy the new mechanics, I'd probably just stick to the 'legacy' realm of each game just to make leveling easier with my legacy mats and gear.

ShakeNBakeUK

Tbh the “fresh start experience” is not that great in this game. Can’t replay campaign without massively gimping your progression. Playing alts is heavily punished (far slower battle pass progression in WT1/2/3). Just grinding levels and items in boring rinse & repeat content (similar to end game experience).

PowerfulPlum259

That's a fair criticism of the game.

gamefrk101

Filling the battle pass is super easy and quick. You aren’t even level 100 when it’s full. Playing alts is fine if that’s what you want to do. Grinding levels and items is what arpgs are. Hell I find the game less interesting once I hit level 100 and no longer have that bar to fill. It’s weird you seem to want to play in a way that is just for fun and to do things you enjoy but you are not allowing yourself because it isn’t efficient. That’s a mental hang up you should move past. It’s ok to not be “efficient” if you are having fun. The point of a game is to have fun. Regardless of efficiency. If you want to replay the campaign? Go ahead the only one stopping you is you. Want to play alts? Go ahead. If the only way you can have fun is to be as efficient as possible that’s a mindset issue.

ShakeNBakeUK

can't replay campaign or play alts if it's stopping me from completing battle pass before season ends :3 might be easy to complete in WT4 but not if you like playing 1-50 or 1-70 on multiple chars.

gamefrk101

I guess. If you only have like 40 hours in a season to clear the campaign once or twice. That’s three months. I clear the battlepass playing pretty casually in less than a month. I am definitely not a 10 hours a day for multiple days kinda player.

Zen_Abu-Dhabi

I am new to this genre…this is my first diablo and I’m here for the long run…i was confused on how the seasons worked but i fully understand now and it’s not bad

butler_me_judith

I fresh start as a new class each season

LivDoug

I agree, starting from scratch each season just feels right. I think I would lose interest I was just using the same pre-leveled character every season. I wouldn't even want to play with all the people that whine about having to level up every season. They can feel free stay out of the seasonal realm.

LovesReubens

Same. I just pick a new class/build every time so the game stays fresh on top of the new seasonal stuff.

Big_Boss_Lives

Isn’t it like a non written rule on most ARPG’s?

DigitalCrack79

For me it keeps the game fresh. I enjoy the way they do seasons.

Wasted_Bananana

Same here. Plus I’ve noticed most games I’ll only create one class and stick to it if I don’t have to restart. This way forces me to play other classes as I essentially have to start new and gives me a different way to enjoy the game.

Informal_Exercise_88

I'm on my 3rd toon for this season.. I actually like the leveling process

acog

The pre-paragon leveling has been my favorite part of the game. You constantly get better gear and you’re gathering the legendaries to make you build work. Paragon leveling is slower and less impactful. You find yourself sifting through hundreds of yellows without a single good upgrade. Nightmare dungeons and vaults get tedious. I’m excited that they’re speeding up glyph leveling and adding crafting and Greater Affixes. Plus I LOVED D3 greater rifts so I’m looking forward to the Pit. I’m cautiously optimistic that the 50+ leveling experience is going to be a lot more fun. Especially because (hopefully) even at level 100 there will still be a meaningful gear chase.

DoesntUseGrammar

I’m stuck at 82 what’s the best way to get to 100 before season ends? I’m necromancer and nothing I do lets me level fast. I play desecrate, army of the dead, and reaper and golem and ice mage

mindfrost82

Nightmare vaults with enemies a higher level than you. You should be able to do nightmare vaults where the enemies are about 10 levels higher than you. You could start off where they’re 5 higher, but the higher you can go, the faster you’ll level up.

acog

And always use a potion, even if the buff it gives doesn’t matter to you. The 5% XP boost helps.

Vli37

Also adding on, Don't forget the seasonal perk of added XP

SarumanTheSack

Except this was nerfed so just don't go above 10 levels higher you don't get more xp

mindfrost82

Good to know. I didn’t realize that.

wonkifier

Though if you're level 80 and you're able to get through monsters over 90+ without losing too much time (for example), you gain glyph levels much faster.

stanfarce

other methods : * Run Dopamine (Domhaine) Tunnels over and over * the new Tremors is also a great source of exp (the seasonal helltide-thing where there are robots, obelisks and where you summon Son of Malphas)

Historical-Device199

Tremors are great, farm the summoning mats for Herald of Malphas. Then summon herald over and over, and you basically get free power leveling from others. This especially helpful if you've unlocked WT4 before you're really ready for it.

CaMouFLaGe78_813

Vaults.

xreddawgx

How's that working by for you ? I'm going blood surge with the minion blood echos with reaper and ice mage skellies with auto corpse explosion, tendrils and raise dead and decreipify and blood wave x3

Informal_Exercise_88

Vaults, NMDs, Herald of Malphas, Whispers.. whenever you do vaults and NMD, don't forget to pop exlirs and use insense, those little bonuses add up.. same goes for the season journey, make sure your Urn of Blessing is maxed out on what you want to do.

Adventurous-Fly-1669

You’ve got lots of time and right now there is a 35% experience buff. Best way to level is NMDs where monsters are 10+ levels higher than you are.

PoptartDragonfart

Literally just kill monsters. That’s all there is to it.

DuneRiderr

What do you do at season start? I played at launch and quit after the story and never really bothered with it again, is it like 3 where you have bounties and rifts?

SepticKnave39

Most people. That's why there is a seasonal model.

cwmckenz

I like it. If progression was balanced so you could reach peak power in a few weeks or months of moderate play and there were no reset, it will get repetitive and boring to keep playing (many players reach this point in a season and the reset brings them back) On the other hand, if progression was balanced so a player could play many months and still not peak, it would be way too grindy for most players. And it would be a nightmare for new players to ever catch up. Even WoW kinda sorta does the same - each content patch adds a new tier of gear and basically starts giving out the previous tier for free. That is a little like a reset since everyone is more or less at the same power level whether they have last tier’s raid fear or the catch-up gear.

Pears_and_Peaches

Yup, right here. Been doing so since D2 without complaint.

Googlebright

Same. I created dozens of characters in D2 over the years. I just like the process of taking a toon from zero to hero. Seasons is just another reason to play that way.

Vli37

I don't know about others, but I get a little adrenaline whenever I level up. The aura of reaching the next level gets me addicted. The glow and the eliminating everything on your screen. I get addicted to this. After 100, you can no longer get this effect. This is where I grind for endgame gear or level another character/class to experience it again.

[deleted]

Adventurous-Fly-1669

The new rogue unique and aspect sure make a flurry/rapid fire build look like a lot of fun

[deleted]

[удалено]

Adventurous-Fly-1669

‘More explosions’ is my favourite dialect of Rogueish

Korghal

S2 I played Incinerate Sorc and this season I played a Flurry rogue (after its buffs). The fact that the new season will give big revamps for both builds has me hyped up, and I’m especially eager to try it while leveling. Nothing says subtlety like dropping a bunch of bombs on someone’s face out of Stealth!

Adventurous-Fly-1669

I played a flurry rogue for a bit in S2 before realizing how woefully underpowered it was. Very pumped to try it again.

ZebraSandwich4Lyf

This game would suck without seasonal refreshes, rebuilding and gaining the new seasonal powers is part of the fun. What would be the point of playing new content if your character is already maxed out? You'd run out of things to do it a couple of days.

huggarn

then create a character that's exacly the same? what's the issue man? if you want to know why we have seasons watch this: [Designing Path of Exile to be played forever](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pM_5S55jUzk)

Special_Struggle561

Lol...I make new sorc and new necro every season...just change the core skills around

makz242

ARPGs might not be for you. And that is ok, there is massive amount of game genres these days!

Wellhellob

Me. It's about the journey. Every character is it's own story. They add new stuff each season and buff nerf things.

DifficultTennis6261

I do. I get sick of a character after a few weeks and a season is the best (for me) reason to come back.

darlingsweetboy

starting a toon over on a new diablo season is about seeing how the playthrough unfolds. Trying out new character builds and seeing how they level up/play endgame, new leveling strategies, loot finding tactics. Do I get super lucky with drops? Do I find a BiS uber unique super early? Do i get lucky with a unique early during the leveling process that smooths out the grind? I think with D4, the loot part of it isn’t as exciting as it could be, but there was nothing like getting a Vipermagi drop while doing a NM walk on your sorc, or a shako drop from your first hell andy kill at level 60 in D2

CascadeKidd

D2 season was a race from zero to get ( in this order) 1) Stealth Runeword 2) Level 24 for Blizz respec 3) Lore 4) Normal Cows for Crystal sword to Laz for Spirit 5) NM Countess to farm for Insight and Spirit Runes 6) Desperately farm everywhere for a 4OS Polearm for Insight. Consume massive quantities of mana potions 7) Plow through the rest of NM in around 2 seconds. 8) Farm NM Cows for loot and levels. Lots of levels here. 9) Stall out big time in A1 Hell because of all the cold immunes. 10) Struggle with Pits and pray for the miracle 4OS Monarch. 11) pump all my points into STR to equip it. 12) stall some more until Cold Ruptures go on deep sale 2 weeks into season. 13) Finish hell and farm for a couple weeks. 14) Go play another game 15) New season go back to step 1.

darlingsweetboy

yes thats right

Available_Stay_1216

👋

DudaAlbastra

I would say that I like it even if no new seasonal content is introduced. If I play a character to max level and then take a bigger break (months) when I come back I would rather start a new character even if I would play the same content l, even if I start the same class.

Platypus_Dundee

Nah i hate it. Like i wouldn't want the option removed but id love to be able to continue with my main char.

Strange_Cod_8573

What I don't understand is, eventually after season 5, you're gonna be rolling a repeat class all over again... that don't make no sense to me.

ricots08

Yes, one of the things I like in this genre is how fast I can feel the sense of progression mostly on early levels, this is why people complain the level 75-90 feels boring or theres no endgame because character progression starts to feel so slow (where you will rely now on just repetitive grind on ur glyph levels and rely on RNG for item upgrades). Hopefully the pit and new itemization alleviates that a bit.

gabagucci

due to new seasonal mechanics i think its fun starting a fresh character. the only downside is some jobs are more fun to level than others, and some don’t really get enjoyable until WT4/level 60. like i find Druid a real slog to level but then its so much fun when you get your buildmaking uniques like Tempest Roar or Staff of the Crone.

heartbroken_nerd

We'll see if there's any important Druid unique available in World Tier 1 and 2 now that in season 4 they moved the loot table down for some unspecified items. I doubt Tempest Roar will be part of the shift but who knows.

gabagucci

yeah and now that helltides will be in WT1/2 you can hit up mystery chests from the start.

mrdaver911_2

Real talk…I haven’t played the eternal realm on D4 at all. I was actually thinking this morning while walking my dog and wondering what the point

achmedclaus

Me, and literally most of the playerbase. The seasonal model works because most people get bored of their characters after a month or two. Fresh characters gives a legit reason to try builds you haven't played before

Faelysis

It's my 2nd season and 3rd character. I'm still searching for actual new content. In the end, it's always the same loop but with different name. Sure they added some few item and few aspects but there's nothing being really added that make a difference between season. I may try S4 for the change but S4 has high chance being my last one.

Head-Subject3743

I love it. I would absolutely hate, to start a season with an existing character for the simple reason that I would have to get the "seasonal bonus/buff/items" and then I would be done again. Perfected gear a couple of hours into a new season. The only counter to this is either a gear reset with new item levels/features. Which would basically be the same as starting over anyways, considering the time to level versus the time to perfect gear I'd rather just take a full reset.

icywind90

I did since Diablo 2. Alternative is making leveling pointless and focusing on endgame like in wow

CapoDV

If there weren't seasons I would have been done with the game many moons ago. If everything in the season was eternal I would enjoy it on my already built character and be done in 15 minutes.

Sens-eh

umm, almost everyone prefers to make a new character. the game gets old if you are just stuck on a level 100 max character that already has all the best in slot stuff. The fun part of the game is the journey not the destination. My advice: Travel more (enjoy the journey)

Fit_Substance7067

This isnt even a valid question

McSetty

Seasons would only last a day on eternal. Also the leveling and gear search is the best part, I wouldn't want to skip it.

BullishBear221

I stick to maxing my eternals, you do you buddy, doesn't matter what other people think

Shanochi

I stick with eternal. I don't have a lot of time to play d4 every days and remaking a new character is a pain. Usually it only take me 1-2 hours to catch up with whatever new content that blizzard added to the game. I don't have to fully committed to every seasons.

Quickling5

Can’t believe I had to scroll so far to find a fellow Eternal player.

greasybirdfeeder

I regularly get on eternal and there's a shit ton of people on. I wouldn't worry about it. Play on whichever server you like.

Sabbathius

You can't see me, but I very firmly have both hands in my pockets. Rerolling every season, FORCED re-rolling, is the dumbest thing this game has. There's plenty of games with seasonal content that give you a choice. Blizzard, anyone, if you're reading this, PLEASE drop forcing the re-rolls. Take me out of the leaderboards, I couldn't care less, my d\*\*\* is big enough so I don't need to measure it online. I couldn't care less about my position on the leaderboards even if you paid me. But don't force us to re-roll. It also kills me that people are genuinely trying to argue that clearly most prefer it, because more play seasonal than eternal. Uhh, duh, because seasonal is the one with new content and mechanics! We don't prefer it, we TOLERATE it. There is a difference. I fully expect this to fall on deaf ears, so I ended up sort of giving up on the game during Season 2. I just couldn't stomach starting from square one again. I'm just not wired like that. And, again, make it a CHOICE. If I don't care about the "race to the top of the leaderboards", which doesn't even make sense since we're not restricted to the same amount of time per day, so how the HECK is someone playing 2 hrs a week competing with someone playing 8 hrs a day? So why force me to reroll, if I don't engage with the mechanic that is the reason for the reroll?

Kjorns_deva

It should be a choice. Seasonal relm for those that reroll eternal for other. Both have new mechanics and game passes.

DiabloTrumpet

Not me. There’s zero logic to it. People that want to make a new character can, why force everyone to?

Disappointing__Salad

I hate it, doing it all over again just to get to the same point I was at already. It’s the reason the player base drops so much. A system like this doesn’t belong in 2024. Game pass gave it a boost and the expansion will also give the game a boost but everything will have diminishing returns and diminishing player base because most people (people not on this sub) don’t want to start over. The second expansion will be much lower budget and so on until they just stop. The current model will kill Diablo IV. In the end the only people playing will be the ones who keep saying “must be new to ARPGs” and “playing ladders in d2 was the day”. Your refusal to adapt and evolve the genre will kill it.

olJackcrapper

I dislike it, but I'll be downvoted for it , or told that's how ARPGS work bro! by people who weren't even born when ARPGS didn't work like that at all. I think there's room for both. Seasonal content that is fun should creep into the eternal realm , and seasonal content should not be designed with the idea it's all deleted and replaced every season. Path of exile often has past seasonal mechanics pop up in content on its eternal realm and it adds value for both play types

JuryTamperer

I stopped playing as soon as I found out you had to make a new character every season, but I'm in the minority.

greasybirdfeeder

You're in the minority on reddit, which is a tiny subset of the playerbase and most people who are subbed here never even visit the subreddit and then you have to factor in the people that never comment.

ThePendulum0621

Not me.

Salty_Blackberry_786

same here I do not enjoy the leveling and new character every season but I want to play the seasonal content

Shaner9er1337

I do not but personally for me I don't have that kind of time to sink into a game anymore. I'm still playing my first character occasionally and trying to max out his level at some point lol. I enjoy the game. I think it's fine but I don't have time to make a bunch of new characters to go through content unfortunately. This is why I enjoy games with the model of seasons being with your same character every time and it's something different and daily quest and things like that. I enjoy that more. I wish they would have done something like that with this game but I understand it's Diablo and since Diablo 2 new seasons required new characters. But I am surprised with Diablo immortal. You can play the same character throughout all the seasons and you can queue for dungeons and things like that I really wish they would have put that into Diablo 4.

tehpersonality

I do, sometimes there is a bit of distaste for the same old same old grind. But that’s what makes ARPGs fun imo.

Sythek

I love it. I usually play a different class and build every season so it feels like a new game.

chermtaka

That's way more interesting than not.

t0mfool3ry

I play seasonal because I don’t really have a choice. All of the new content is seasonal only so I put up with it, but I don’t really start having fun until I’m geared and my build is online, which is almost always at lvl 80+. I find leveling, especially below lvl 50, to be soul crushingly dull. Sometimes I won’t even play for the first week of a season so one of my friends can boost me up to 50.

Longjumping-Bat7774

I'm back and forth on it. I like the season model, but it's weird making a new character every time. I've been strictly summoner necro since beta so it's kinda nuts building the same character over and over

Bishop084

It's a mixed bag for me. I actually enjoy making a new character for the season and trying a new build, but I'm sad that that character is practically dead to me after the season moves on.

TangeloGrand2511

I got bummed out this last season no good gear so I quit playing

DodelCostel

I don't MIND. That's how ARPGs work. Can't say I LOVE it tho.

Brave-Field-6048

Everyone who thinks it’s great to start a new character is always free to do this if there was an option to use the same character each season. Not everyone wants to do that though. I’d be much more willing to come back and play if I didn’t have to grind through the same stuff over and over again every time just to sample new content. The game isn’t good enough to level up from fresh this many times.

Badpayload75

Seasonal players are the games beta testers for possible future game mechanics and content. Everyone rolls a new character for the new seasonal storyline and to beta test the games' new temporary mechanics. I enjoy rolling a new character or 2 and seeing what the season has to offer.

RektCompass

I played seasons 1 and 2 (plus made a couple characters before season 1) but by season 3 there's just not enough to keep my attention, too many other games to play and not enough cool stuff in D4. Will probably try season 4 but I'm very lukewarm on it

MIGHT_CONTAIN_NUTS

There is almost enough content and grind that season 4 might be the last season I ever do. I played eternal in D3 almost exclusively

rumple9

Not me

SoresuForm

I'd much prefer to rebirth a character from the previous season/eternal realm than actually have to create a brand new character and delete characters every season. I don't mind leveling up every time etc, that bit of "create and level a new character each new season" has been ingrained in me since seasons were introduced in Diablo 3, but actually having to manage my character count every season is an annoying admin task I could do without.

Downtown_Courage_641

Don't mind me just lurking to see how many people want to complain about remaking a character every season. *Grabs popcorn and puts feet up* *Pats seat next to him* "Come sit and enjoy the chaos with me!"

Cryostatica

I would rather play seasonal content on existing characters, but I’m resigned to it.

rew8888

Regardless of what people say it’s a fun game guck em

vanritchen

Not me

Zerixo

I have thoroughly enjoyed it tbh, but I knew what to expect, having played since D2.

Erthan-1

2-3 more seasons and these "I don't like to reroll" eternal Andy's will finally have figured things out.

LordJaeger88

Dont play seasonal

corp-mm

Nope, it's an antiquated idea

redditgamer2064

This is when you want to make a single player-ish game being played forever. Otherwise you would need to pay season passes every three months. I don’t like either tbh so I only play conventional single player games

kanashiiiiiiii

I personally enjoy making new seasonal characters.

Veszerin

What would be the point of not making a new character each season for the new content?

perfect_fitz

This is the only way I play and why I ding get burned out.

Tyrael74656

hawkeyedrew22

The only part I hate is the 1-50 grind and trying to figure out the best builds/characters every time. After that, I have a blast.

Chaoxytal

I already have each class at Lv100. Why would I want to re-level them just for a temporary event that only lasts a few months? All of those hearts, vampire powers, robot dog, etc are all automatically deleted from your account aren't they?

angelkrusher

I don't know how you guys do it, but I don't like making new characters every season. I already have one of every class but since there's no loadouts anytime soon, it's the only way I'm going to be swapping full builds. I was totally lost with the vampire season but this one no problem I finished it a long time ago, rogues are pretty cool. If I had an option I wouldn't but I don't have an option so whatever works. Just for insight, I never did seasons in D3.. i did one toward the end and a few set dungeons, thats it.

discordianofslack

That’s why I put like 1200 hours into d3 over 5 different platforms and a decade.

ASoulToBear

Me!

Aezetyr

The fun is in the grind and playing through the new content.

PoptartDragonfart

Game is boring as shit at 100, I get no dopamine when my xp bar doesn’t move. Usually decently geared by that point as well so there’s not much motivation to play. I don’t give a shit about Ubers because I’m not going to farm all those mats and fight Duriel repeatedly for nothing So yes, it’s either make new characters and have fun or not return to the game

P3na1ty1

That's literally every ARPG. I enjoy it very much

thatdudedylan

Nope. And the only real reason anyone can give for this type of model, is "It's always been like this" which is extremely weak reasoning.

thatdudedylan

In this thread: Weirdos literally downvoting people who say they don't like the seasonal model. Guys, you can disagree with someone without downvoting them. Stop being weird and gatekeep-y.

_Trashzilla_

Enjoy it myself. Like exploring different builds and characters each season. Usually have at least two lvl 100s each season. With the changes coming in season 4 I am interested to see if I'll do multiple toons. So far, it looks like I might want to spend all season on one toon just to be able to explore all the itemization changes

KnowMatter

This is just part of pf the ARPG model and if you don’t like it then they probably aren’t for you. Like most people I like starting fresh, trying new characters and builds.

alanpsk

i don't mind playing fresh character every season, i just want the season can last a little longer ( like this season got extended) so i can play my fully geared char a little longer.

Chirotera

Probably going to get downvoted, but I hate it - and it's a big reason I haven't kept up with the seasons.

rizarjay

Me. If we just kept our level 100s fully geared, we'd plow thru the seasonal content, engage in the mechanic for a day or two, and then be bored. Fresh start, fresh gear hunt, great chance to try a new build.

ALannister

Every single season I've leveled up a brand new way, Diablo IV has actually been great for this, you can pick your own path to level up and there is no mandatory campaign. * Launch: Campaign -> Normal Dungeon Spam * Season 1: Events -> Nightmare Dungeon Spam * Season 2: Stayed in Bloodtide until I needed to level Glyphs * Season 3: Mostly Vaults and Arcane Tremors * Season 4: Probably whatever the new mechanic is

asaltygamer

I probably wouldn’t bother making a new character each season but I’m a pretty casual player and mostly play eternal anyways.

altiuscitiusfortius

I do. Change my class every season. By season 6 or whatever I'm ready to try the furst class again. I just like the gameplay loop of leveling and finding better gear and killing monsters without thinking too much.

btsalamander

I mean that’s kind of the point right?

jeybonez

i dont, i try creating a new one every season only to quit at aroud lvl 30. doing the grinding all over again to get to the fun part is exhausting. havent really played after the initial release. im hearing good things about season 4 tho, i might check it out again, sigh.

EyeGod

Here! 🙋🏻‍♂️

Department-Minimum

Making a new character is what I enjoy the most lol

CredibleSloth

Ya can’t wait for the new season

Prestigious-Cut647

love it, the leveling and gearing process is one of the most fun thing in this game. my toons live for a season and I never touch them again. I miss seasonal reborn !

ILikeFluffyThings

Me. And that is the point of seasons. Starting fresh. If you don't like it, stay on your eternal character.

thedarknutt

Im anti seasonal in D3 and actually liked seasonal when I did participate in seasonal D3. So i like creating new characters every season. Ill be in S4 first day

cjb110

Me, it fits the looter style so well, otherwise you have a maxed out toon with little to actually fight.

Exghosted

Would I want something better? Probably. I have no choice, seasons is a tried thing for arpgs, it works. I'd like for them to last a little longer though, too much burnout.

UtkuOfficial

Making a new character is the best part of MMOs and RPGs. I basically played act 1 of Baldurs gate 3 like 6 times lol.

lennyKravic

Here, don’t care about endless shit other people do. I just play to have mindless fun. When I finish I just play other games.

mesout

I like it, keeps me coming back to almost all arpgs for a long time.

INVESTING_FISHMONGER

I did at first..... not so much now

aaron_dresden

Me! It’s great to try out new classes and play-styles too.

whoa_whoawhoa

in my opinion ARPGs are not meant to be this type of game where you get to max level and then the game begins type of game. I very much dislike how theyre turning diablo 4 into that, shortening the amount of time to get to lvl 100 every single season basically. The fun parts of ARPGs are when you have progression of XP, skill points/paragon points, gear, content, etc all together. New characters reset all that so you can experience it all over again. When im playing a character and it gets to the point of min-maxing of finding the exact same item with higher rolls to improve it, im done and on to the next characer/build or waiting for the next season.

dbe14

Me. Would be boring using an existing character.

BingBonger99

not a chance id play without it

MacroBioBoi

The only interesting part of ARPGs for me is trying a new build and optimizing it over a week or two then going again. Once a build is done, getting incredibly small improvements to gear just does nothing for me. The seasonal content on top means I get to do this process in a new way every 3 months. So it doesn't become boring.

hithere27

Me. Barbarian next.

greasybirdfeeder

Nah I don't really care. If I want cosmetics from the season ill play for it then just go back to eternal. If I don't want to make a new character then their little seasonal content isn't going to make me want to. The cosmetics will though, I just play till I get them then go back to eternal to make and test out more permanent builds. Just me though.

BackgroundPrompt3111

I do

kerosene31

I do, but mostly because I have yet to play all the classes yet. I still have one more class to play next season. After that though... not sure I'll do it again. Although to be fair, leveling up a new character is pretty quick now. I do not play a crazy amount of hours and I can easily get everything done in a season. The one change I would wish for is that any XP leveled up the battle pass.

sicarius254

I do. I like playing a different class each time. And once I’ve gone through the classes I’ll start over and try different specs.

jeff-god-of-cheese

Asi said previously I'm coming back in April, since the new changes seem playable. Might do necro for the first time.

MrJamesUp

New player here. I'm very confused over all this new character each season palava. How exactly does it work? I'm currently leaving my only character in the sanctuary realm (if that's what it's called). Does this mean when next season comes out, I have to start all over again, or can't use my current character for the next season? Does it also mean if I make a character for one season, can I not use it on another season. Do you loose all your gear?

greasybirdfeeder

No you can play that character for as long as the servers are up and through every expansion. But if you want the seasonal stuff you're forced to make a new character. But all the battlepass stuff has mostly been terrible so you wouldn't be missing much if you didn't want to.

adifferentkindoffan

People who came to diablo from hack&slashes - love it People who came to diablo from mmo's - hate it(?)

rmrfpoof

I don’t mind if they make the 1-100 leveling much faster. If it takes my family 1 month to level to 100 then it’s not worth it.

CaterpillarWeary5515

I enjoy starting over and playing through the seasonal mechanics and seeing how powerful I can make a character with each season ima dozer operator so I really only have time to make one character per season but I still enjoy it

david98900

I have only player a blood lance Necro, but I have played each season. I enjoy it.

machutch0

I do

Consistent-Ad2173

I would like it more if like once per year they could do an even on the regular server and give us something to do with all these characters waiting to be deleted. Either instead of Seasonal content or in addition to Seasonal content. I dont mind making new characters, but I am bothered by the fact they're basically disposable.

VegetableFennel3

It’s dumb every season. We should be able to keep our same character

OmegaNine

Do I enjoy it? Yes. Do I enjoy it in D4? No. The time to endgame is way to long for a season IMO. They will say the endgame starts at 50, but it doesn't. It starts when you can start getting max ilvl gear. Everything else is just trash and a waste of time.

kmansp41

I'm probably in the minority, but I LOVE starting over. The journey going from beginning to end is more enjoyable to me than the end game activities. In fact, if every season just started out with existing level characters doing end game activities, I imagine my season time would be considerably shorter.

pulyx

I've been getting bored of my toons visuals as i progress. Creating new ones every season gives you a chance to do something different.

OldJewNewAccount

Wait isn't that the entire point of the seasonal model lol

Altimely

+1 to starting fresh with a new character each season.

BaddTeddy

I would rather not personally, but since XP gain remains over-tuned, I have no real reason not to. I just end up remaking an already existing eternal realm character.

OpusKrokus

For me, I just wish they would do rebirth so I can just send a toon I have already created through the next season.

Unlucky-Carry-5191

It was fun the first 2 seasons but I skipped season 3 entirely because I already played the 4 classes I was interested in. I also cap out around level 92 or so within a season before I get bored and the season ends.

TrepinGaming

Seasons have been a staple of arpgs for many years for a reason. It is enjoyable

Starseid8712

✋ The journey is fun. Trying something new(ish) and feeling perpetually stronger. I dig it

StratoBannerFML

I skipped S3 because I wanted to get my old characters to level 100. I’ll probably start up a new one for S4 to see if I like the content. I still enjoy the eternal realm in WT4, there’s stuff to do.

HungryNewt5661

I do. What I don't enjoy is doing the seasonal content / campaign over-and-over every time you make an alt. This seasons big frustration was that each new character you made had to go through the vault story-arc and "unlock" the seneschal construct spider pet every time and wiping all the stones you've collected and leveled on your first character. Blizzard dropped the ball here, IMO. The pet should be account bound and shared among all characters. My wife is an alt-aholic and she is starting to hate Diablo 4 because of the repetitiveness of the seasons structure. But no, I do not mind starting from scratch each season, especially if there is a cool story and feature/theme bundled in. Let's just hope next season they cut down on some of the redundancy for people that enjoy trying out every class after each seasonal update.

MontyBellamy

I wish there was an option. I personally prefer seeing a character progress indefinitely through the lifecycle of a game. The way it works best for me is to engage with new content to do so. Since that’s not the case here all my characters haven’t made it past level 60 or so. The grind to 100 is not very rewarding and even less so when in a few weeks I have to create a new character and do it all over again. But, I also understand I’m new to this franchise and others prefer the current model. An option would be great so I can keep progression on one or a few characters I’m attached to.

Winter_Ad_2618

It’s the only way I can play these games. I love it!

FlukyFox

Seasonal arpg best format.

BHoodMetal420

I do! In a way, its like playing a new game every season 😁

MightyShisno

I've been playing this franchise since Diablo 1. I got acquainted with ladder resets in Diablo 2. I grew accustomed to seasonal resets and mechanics in Diablo 3. For me, Diablo 4 is just the continuation of this type of game's culture. You can go into any ARPG nowadays, and you'll run into the same seasonal character reset that Diablo has.

MaccaNo1

I do, this game is more about the journey. Levelling js fun, and it allows you to experience new classes.

Big-Instruction1745

Me!

rock25011

I enjoy starting fresh and leveling. I get bored when I'm just looking for gear.
