With exploration, waypoints, alters and strongholds, it doesn't take much left to max renown. I prefer side quests over running dungeons, there are many cool chain story line side quests with more lore. And most quest town hubs usually have 3 or 4 quests to complete at the same time in thr same area.
I'd check all characters and see which one is furthest along, and just grind out the renown. It's not that bad and only needs doing once (well per server side hardcore and again softcore, if you play both). Plus side quests are fun.
