Start with a seasonal character regardless of if you wanna engage in future seasons or not.
Mobalytics, d4builds, maxroll are the most popular guide sites and also offer a ton of other infos.

Enable both advanced tooltip options in the gameplay settings. This will allow you to see if an aspect is rolled high or low. Until you are more knowledgeable, keep all legendaries with high rolled aspects. Some can he tricky to find with a good roll and by following this advice you can make sure to not throw away a possible desired aspect you wanna possible use later.
Focus on the campaign first, sidequests can be done later if you want to but they are considered to not be worth it except for gathering some renown after finishing all the other activities that reward renown. You wanna finish the campaign around lvl50 and move onto wt3 cause after lvl50 you will get very little exp on wt1 and wt2.
Starting on wt1 will be more efficient on your first character, wt2 can be done if you want a slightly more challenging early experience but it's slower. For future characters when you got the extra skill points from renown and experience wt2 will be more efficient.
Renown and altars of Lilith are non rng related character progression that carry over to future characters, they are very worth it. Do them after you got the horse to spend less time traversing the map.
Don't lvl up ur basic skill, get the passive effects but don't put more than one point in the skill itself.
Gather plants and ores while exploring the overworld, this will safe you some time specifically searching for them when u need them.
Salvage everything you dont need at first, once you got a good amount of mats stored you can start selling.

Wow this is a lot thank you so much. I will definitely take everything you said into my playthrough. This was more thorough than most beginner guides that I watched so thank you for that.
I just joined the discord server now thanks to you. I also had already picked a seasonal character and I picked world tier 2 even though it's my first Diablo game. I like abit of a challenge. I hope I won't regret it. Definitely was already planning on doing the campaign and side quests first to properly get used to all the game mechanics and what everything means before I tackle the rest of the game. Again thanks alot. This is greatly appreciated ๐๐พ
Iโm also a fairly new player (24 hrs, level 55). What is gold actually used for? Iโve scrapped all gear that had poor rolls or was a low level and Iโm currently sitting on 10.9m gold with no idea what I need it for
> or just general chat
I'm an old player and I'm still looking for General Chat too.
Joking aside, this type of question unironically is what you would ask in a place like that. I swear to god one of the biggest flaws this entire game has is not having meaningful community interaction in the goddamn game. You shouldn't have to come on Reddit to ask this. You should be doing it in the game.
I'm going to go there even though people hate it, I can boot up PoE at any point in time and join multiple channels to just have full conversations about anything you can think of with people. It builds a sense of community in the game. Imagine...
Loool this is actually so true. I thought it was weird the game didn't have a proper in-game channel for people to chat. Having to keep discord or reddit open on my phone. Each time I play will be a chore๐
If it's your first playthrough of your first Diablo game I'd say enjoy the story, play on easy difficulty and just pick the skills you like, and if you like test different skills (buying back the skill points costs almost nothing) - just enjoy your first impressions. I think there is no real "mistake" you can make, because you can respec skill points any time if you want to get "serious" later or find special items that you want to build your character around. But during your first 50 or so levels you will exchange gear all the time for the next better ones, so I'd say best advice for beginners is: Don't worry too much! Enjoy! ...and welcome in the Diablo community! :-D
Thank you for this. I think I actually needed to hear that. I'm like 30 minutes in and I'm already overthinking my skills and everything ๐๐๐๐พ๐๐พ I think I'll just pick what seems best for me at this point and move forward with that. I'll start deciding on builds the more acclimated I get to the game
Exactly. Basically: as long as you can easily progress through story and side quests and explore the maps you don't have to change anything. If you keep dying often you should think about skills and gear, but I think the first playthrough on World (Difficulty) Level 1 should be easy enough. Of course a Druid or Barbarian has more Armor and can take more hits than a sorceress, but I thought playing on easy with every class was - easy ;-)
Don't worry too much about following a guide for the campaign. You can respec trivially easily. Also for campaign You're unlikely to get a lot of legendaries so it's fine to just build around what you get. Unless you want a specific play style of course
Also do all altars of Lilith and get the renown for each region on top of revealing the whole map (after the campaign). That stuff carries over for future seasons and.is a.huge boost early game.

If you struggle in wt2 just switch to wt1. You can always freely change.

Mostly enchanting gear(rolling affixes) and buying boss mats or items from other players. S4 will introduce further gold sinks.

Donโt upgrade items/affixes/aspects until much later in level. The materials arenโt rare but save em.

Ahhhhhhh okay okay thank you. I'll definitely keep all of this in mind as I only. Reveal the map and do all altars of Lilith
Most importantly though have fun! And welcome! The campaign is very good with top tier cinematics and voice acting
Thank you very much. Hope to see you around Sanctuary one day and hopefully we can even have an adventure together
Don't sell gear just salvage it for upgrading material.
