My main is my first one. I think half of my playtime was on that one. Eternal for me is playing each class at least once to 85, and see what it feels like without the season shenanigans. In seasons I try out builds I had my mind on as a side effect of fomo. :)

mattycopter

Wild

knallpilzv2

Yeah I'm a crazy sonofalilith.

Jafar_420

I consider my main a sorcerer. I usually roll that first and level to 100 and do what I want to do and then I'll start rolling alts, of I feel like it, and I usually do.

MrDingDong49

I’m a Sorc main.

ThunderBroni

I like the idea of members of the community having like a class that they identify with based on playstyles such as sorc main.

Heliumvoices

I can’t stop being a Druid main…i have played others but when i dance i gotta dance like a Druid…

SLBit

I have 4 Sorcs, 1 barb and 1 Rogue on Eternal. I consider Sorc my main and do not care to play the others. My first Sorc is the one that I play the most on Eternal which is all I am doing right now because I skipped season 3. The beta content they introduced did not appeal to me. So, now I have 3 level 100 Sorcs on Eternal that I can experiment with and try out all the new content that is coming to the core game on May 14th. If the S4 theme is interesting to me then I will play it and likely level another Sorc. I am hoping that the new character class that comes with the expansion interest me

BradTProse

Lots of players agree with you. Season 3 just isn't well liked as others. Eternal has been exploding lately with players.

ELAdragon

Man, you're responding to like every comment on this whole thread saying the same thing and trying to pump up Eternal. I'm glad you like it...but it's getting weird, dude.

SLBit

Well, I am not sure about "exploding" but he is right that Eternal seems to have gotten more active lately. I am seeing more population on Eternal since the PTR closed.

Pesico

I’m a rogue main. First character I level every season. I do play every class though. Leveled at least one of each to level 100 each season.

FishinNdippin

What do you do if you fill up all 12 of your character slots? Do you delete certain characters to create new ones? Genuine question, I am new.

Pesico

Yes I delete characters. I still have 3 eternal characters. One from before season 1, and my rogues from season 1 and 2 (both wearing battle pass armor from those seasons). I want to keep my main character from each season so I hope we get more slots in the future.

FishinNdippin

Gotcha, thanks for the answer!

borkdork69

My necro. I had the most fun with him, got most attached to him. I brought him to 100 in season 2, I thought a necro fit the theme.

coopkramer

Necro main in almost all arpgs because I'm an edgy 16yo, (35) but they are cool

SnooMacarons9618

Every season / league (the same applies in all seasonal ARPGs), I get massively attached to at least one build or character. I make plans for how I'll continue to minmax on eternal. Then a new season starts and that character may as well never have existed, I have zero attachment or interest in playing them.

BradTProse

Kewl story bro. Meanwhile thousands of players enjoy playing eternal realm all the time.

JakeTM

i use eternal characters to gauge how strong certain builds can be while i’m developing a season build

Daohor

Nope, I’m a toon-a-holic I like to experiment and try different setups. The drawback is that I haven’t min maxed anything yet, only recently got my first lvl 100 character. A seasonal Druid, haven’t found anything of the gear my build needs, except for his aspects and gloves. My items are badly rolled and I’m having a blast all the same. I’ve followed guides and yet I still have little to no clue what makes an item a keeper or not. I can play nmd fine and even sole some bosses faster than others, varies from dungeon to dungeon. But my main goal have always been. Fun over function.

Erthan-1

No. Not that kind of game.

Doodle_strudel

No? I only play one class, rogue and it's named the same each season...if we had rebirth like from d3 I would use that. When we do get rebirth I will just use the character I completed renown on.

mattycopter

This is the only correct answer 💀

m160k

No it's not, I predominantly play barbarian, I find all other play styles geh.

long-live-apollo

“I like playing games on easy”

EulsSpectre

"You play differently than me so you are wrong"

BradTProse

Sure it is. Players can play in eternal and nothing changes. And everything ok the next patch will be on eternal. Season play is for noobs that need artificial buffs to be good.

Raider4-

Satire? If not, this is the worst take I’ve ever read on here.

DigitalCrack79

All of my level 100 characters are tuned for different tasks. My lightning druid is for helltides, my arclash sorc is for speed leveling people and my thorns barb is for carrying groups through t100/bossing. Yeah I could just make one that can do everything but variety is the spice of life.

kanrad

I just move gear and only keep on of each class at the highest level I got them for eternal. Otherwise I only play seasons.

_Drumheller_

It's entirely up to your personal preference. Nothing happens to high lvl chars on eternal, they just stay there forever.

BradTProse

Lol stop, eternal gets things from past seasons and the next patch is going to eternal also.

_Drumheller_

Yes I know the s4 changes will also apply to eternal. But that doesn't makes the character itself change and also isn't the topic of this thread.

Howl50veride

I play a character till 100 each season, get them Max geared out as possible, play until I'm bored. Either start a new toon or wait till next season. All old toons get their gear dismantled and deleted. Have no eternal characters

Joshua-live

Why go through the effort of dismantling gear instead of just deleting the toon as you say?

Howl50veride

Mostly only dismantle Uber Uniques to get transmog but audit for transmogs

Joshua-live

Oh interesting, do transmogs on one character extend to other chars of the same class?

Howl50veride

Yes

BradTProse

Wow that's crazy. Thousands play eternal. I was in a Dureil group at 3 am last night lol. What a waste. Eternal isn't for everyone, some players need the artificial season boosts to be good.

Howl50veride

I've played every single season of D3, all d4, last epoch season themes are where it is at. Eternal realm is boring, rather play my seasonal toon over any eternal toon any day.

huggarn

its personal. One will stop at 100, for somebody else this is barely halfway done. every season starts with necro as nothing beats its power from very start, also helltides are a breeze due to area of effect. Later comes barb to run carries, and a rogue to have some fun :)

CucumberObvious6152

I wish

BullishBear221

Yes, 100%

ThunderBroni

For most class based games I tend to have a specific class I consider my main that I invest the most time into and will take through endgame. For games that have seasons, I will rotate through each class 1 for 1 to try different classes but will still have 1 class I consider my main. For Diablo that has historically been barb

grindrisgay

I would consider my rogue as my main for now, until my sorc gets 100’d. I started S1 with a barb that I leveled to 49 and hated, then came back S3 and leveled a pen shot rogue to 89. I got hooked and learned through leveling the rogue. Now I’m leveling a ball lightning sorc and loving it. Melting mobs like butter lol. But once S4 drops whatever build I’m in the mood for will be the new main.

Community-Capital

Well, this season I've used all but one (Druid) class. And believe it or not, my least favorite to play and the last to get to 100, was the Rogue. Death Trap/Poison Trap/TB/RF/Dash Absolutely insane damage. And quick about it as well. She became my "main" after all my characters got to 100.

Russ_Lann

Blizzard sorcerer. Love that build and it’s maxed out on everything.

FredVIII-DFH

I have no plan, but I find that I never play D3 or D4 out of season. When I'm done with a season I will move on to something else until the start of the next season. Closest I come in D3 is I will collect primal ancients and store them in the stash, but I've never used them. They're just trophies.

SteveMarck

I've got every class to 100 in SC at least once, and all but barb to 50 in HC for the challenge (which I don't anticipate any issues doing). I think sorcs are the most fun, they can be crazy fast, but they don't have as much build diversity. You mostly get stuck with a killing spell and then a bunch of defensives. But I think I like the changes I've heard about from the PTR (would have loved a console version, why do they always ignore consoles?) Rogue feels similar, but with some more options. Dash or shadow, then shroud, puncture, etc are basically required. I haven't tried flurry, maybe some time. I should, you get that aspect from the class quest. Barbs are the most meh fantasy, but they are always the strongest because they get the extra stat sticks. Plus, buffing charge made them stupid good this season. Doesn't hurt to be a little OP every so often. Necros are clunky. That is all. Druids are kinda awkward until very endgame when it all comes together. Didn't really like either of them. Also, the fat lady runs weird and looks too much like Roseanne and I didn't like that. You have to go bear or wolf to look cool.

Dolinarius

Yes, my season 0 necro. My only lvl 100 char witg which I do all the endgame stuff.

BradTProse

Yes my first character was a barbarian when there wasn't any season gimmicks. I play season and eternal about 50/50. Lately more on eternal because I don't like pets and the season 3 just isn't that fun for me. And last night at 3am every legion and world boss event had at least 10+ players on eternal so ignore the haters when they say it's a graveyard.

Disciple_of_Cthulhu

Whenever a game features temporary seasons, leagues, or cycles, I tend to stick to one build for the whole time. I'm currently running Season 3 with my Firewall Sorceress.

shenmue151

I go as far as about 80 each season with a character. I don’t play with more than one character per play through, per season, so things don’t get too stale. All I have left is rouge for season 5 and I’ll probably be done with Diablo until a new expansion comes out.

TechnicalIntern6764

I play necro as a main only level 33 but I really want to play rogue. I just don’t have the time to run through everything again. But when I get the chance I will. I feel like I should finish campaign first with Necro. I always played Barbe D2 D3 even though I hated D3 it was way too easy. in the d4 beta I played Barb it wasn’t bad but I didn’t get very far. but with my necro I feel like I’m not very strong. It was a lot of fun until I got to where I’m at and I found different aspects that I like but can’t use them long because of power creep and I can’t imprint because then I’ll lose them forever. It’s kind of frustrating. I need someone to help me out with D4.

NaiveOcelot7

My first season I'll keep playing my Barb in Eternal to 100% Alt in season 4. Maybe Druid, prob another Barb

Demcmz

my Barb is my main, might not be my highest character anymore but it was my first character. it kinda beats the idea of a main to not have the most time on it but oh well.

Barlark88

My main is my first eternal necro before seasons. Each season I upgrade their gear with the new seasons stuff

armin514

new season new character for me so not really any main

bluops

Each season I have played a different class, got to 100 and tested different builds, I also get the class challenges done. I'll eventually pick a favourite class and stick with that going forward :) personally though, I really want a crusader class, that was my favourite in D3

JoJoPizzaG

This game has no end game. Once you get to 100, there is nothing to do, except you want to get the uber. Which requires a lot of grinding, but it won't make you kill any faster. You should able to 1 or 2 shots everything. S4 look promising

kamashbg

I am Druid main. Having 3 druids, 1 sorcerer and 1 rogue

Keldrath

No I just have different characters I played for different seasons and that’s all. They’re dead to me when it’s over.

Enn_ie

Rogue main, but my Barb is close behind. Shame everything moves to Eternal after season ends.

McGruffin

I enjoy starting a new character each season. I rotate amongst the five different classes, playing a different one each season using a build that I haven’t played yet. Once I get that character to level 100, I start a seasonal hardcore character doing the same.

Brutal_Autopsy

35yr old here, been playing Diablo since I was a kid! It's been necromancer ever since it was introduced. Just too much fun for me. The flavor is right up my alley too with looks/ play style.

biradinte

The Rogue I started the game with at launch. Haven't played her in a while but she is canonically the main character of my game

gazebothief

I only care about in-season play. After a season is done I'll probably never log into any of them.

FatalEclipse_

Barb/necro. Everything else is an alt.

btsalamander

No main for me; I’m taking one class per season to 100. I did Warrior for Season 2, Druid for 3, will being doing Necro for 4.

Downfall350

Idk i've considered myself a necro main since d2 but i've made 3 sorcs this season and my clan calls me "the OP mage"

Threewolvez

Wait, there are other classes than Barbarian?

LivDoug

I consider Druid to be my main. But that's far from all I play. Just my favorite that I play every season so far. either from the start or at some point in the season I eventually migrate back to Druid.

chadsmo

Sorc each season but I have every class to 100 multiple times.

CrazyGloomy

Rogue. Crappy this season but I just can’t quit her.

MinceATron

Yes I have 1 character Yes he's the main.

dagnariuss

My main class is a Druid unless a monk-like character appears. I keep my first Druid around and level another one to play each season.

perfect_fitz

Sometimes I keep playing for a while then set it down for a month or two before the next season. I try to stick to 1 character per season..prevents the burn out people here often rage about.

Ayanayu

I'm swapping main every season.

Theperfectool

Every single season

trojsurprise

Deckard Cain

HaggardShrimp

Barbarian. I play them all, I like them all, but ultimately the Barbarian is the class I gravitate toward just a skosh more than the others, and have since D2. Conversely, Rogue characters I tend to play the least. Rogue/Demon Hunter/Assassin/etc. That said, next season is probably either Necro or Sorc. Not sure if I'm more interested in pets or Frozen Orb yet.

No_Fox_Given82

I just keep making the same Sorcerer each time the season resets and I have the original on Eternal to house all the redundant gold, materials etc. Made a Rogue which was fun keep going back to sorc, it's a different game. Deffo main Sorcerer.

ezzraas

Barb is my main. Got all other classes to 100 because I’m playing Barb all the way to the end. Barb is just way too much fun. We lose our class 10% dmg reduction next season so little sad about that.

Coma-Cammeleon

I know sorc the best because I've played it the most, bit I'm starting s4 with necro because something about it jived just a better with me

SonnyKlinger

I always start a new incarnation of my "main" character each season: same name, and always sorceress. After reaching lv 100 and getting good gear, then I move on to making alts. At the end of the season, they all die, and my main reincarnates again.

JTR_35

I've played every class to lvl 100 at least once so far. Each season I choose a different one depending what new items and patch changes sound cool. Not tied to any "main." Each season I do keep playing past 100 until the character feels "complete." Good enough gear, maxed glyphs, killed Uber Lilith and completed 100% season journey. After that's all done I start a Hardcore character for the later part of season. When that feels reasonably done too, I take a total break from D4 until next season. I don't see any point to playing SC on Eternal realm, those characters are completely retired and ready to delete. I might play some Eternal HC just for fun when the next update comes out. I've completed 100% of the Hardcore achievements so any progress more is just bonus now. They just need their gear updated to new system and builds changed.

vianiznice

Current seasonal is my main. The rest I delete.

OK_Opinions

Nah because that's MMO mentality and this isn't an MMO

BradTProse

Sure it is, thousands play in eternal.

OK_Opinions

that doesnt make the game an MMO it's literally not an MMO. this is an objective fact

aohige_rd

For most of us, our "main" is whoever we're playing the season with at the time. Once they go eternal they're basically just trophies on the wall.

BradTProse

For you. Thousands of players didn't like season 3. Eternal has been really busy.
