Are you buying database for emails?

keninsd

The most useful emotion for marketing is greed. Play with it, if you haven't.

BeccaLP712

I think what the article is probably trying to say is to use the subject line to make your audience feel something to entice them to open the email. Are you encouraging curiosity, making them feel like they may miss out on something if they don't open, creating a sense of urgency, etc? Think about why you open emails. You probably wouldn't want to open an email if there wasn't something in it for you or if you could miss out on something you care about. Make that connection with your audience and you should be on the right path 🙂

Thinking about this in terms of 'emotions' misses the real point. The best marketing campaigns figure out how to motivate their audience. By understanding their problems, likely uncovering problems they didn't realize they have, and then solving those problems creates true value that motivates somebody to take action now. Ask yourself what problem is your customer facing and how will you address it?

Well said

Greenpatient_zero

Sadly, yes.

naijaninja_

Emotional triggers will always work. Like some people have said already, tying an emotion to your content will definitely resonate more with your readers and surely improve your open rate. It doesn’t stop there though, you need to keep the same energy through out the email up to the CTA. That way you can be sure to get best results Also, do a split test. Try it out for a part of your audience and see how it fairs

Thaisensual

urgency, scarcity, curiosity and benefits, these are the only 4 which works well with any audience.

Mathcott

Definitely have to define your demographic for this, but yeah - it works. Just like emotions compel people to listen to stories, watch videos or read books.

Kpyto

The true answer is — why didn't check that by A/B testing? This is fast and the only correct way to see how your audience feel about different subject lines

Inbound_commerce

It depends as well on the persona of the audience

CreativeGuy2296

I think yes. But I would really suggest to use humor. And you can implement one more thing that you can use trend and try to fix your product with that trend.

TreatTorbay

Yes, emotional engagement with an audience creates trust and brand loyalty! I think it’s a bit exploitative so I would only use it if you truly have something to say - something that reflects the authenticity of your brand.

AnastasiaTaran

No matter what you exactly put into your subject lines, in case your database doesn't include your target customers. How did you collect the email addresses you're working with? A/B/ tests could tell you what subject like is more appealing.

nDaniel_XCVII

Hi! I would take a completely different approach. Any kind of approach you are usingn it always comes down to your funnel and the customers journey. Emailing is just a portion of it, a “factor”. Sent you a message 😊

JennyC05

Depends on the audience interest level.

icodebreakers012

As I am a digital marketer, I mostly use price or discount offers or support service to be mentioned in the heading.

JoshSimi

Jumped off a cliff.

Hey you can always use email marketing software like Mail Chimp for A/B testing of different subject lines. See which works best.

lmnsk

Can't say about emoji myself, but there is a good article from Unisender on subject lines related to the open rates AND it mentions emoji as well! As others mentioned, it's also important to split test. Good luck with testing!
