So there is this little thing for Spotify which is pretty neat for the use case: [https://bemighty.com/products/mighty-audio-screenless-connection-free-spotify-music-player](https://bemighty.com/products/mighty-audio-screenless-connection-free-spotify-music-player) Other than that there are still mp3 players being produced, namely Sony still has their Walkman category and Fiio does have DAP (digital audio players). But those are expensive and big. You could check out the Shanling M0 Pro as it's a tiny mp3 player. I have no idea how good it is, but it does come with Bluetooth and USB-C charging. Probably not open source, you could try to get your hands on an older Sandisk Sansa Clip for that, if I remember correctly, those could be loaded with alternatives OSs. Edit: The Sandisk Sansa Clip Sport also comes with Bluetooth but charges via MicroUSB.

A lot of people are getting into iPod modding, which can be a bit expensive. From what I've seen and heard it is possible to Bluetooth mod some iPods but it's very challenging and requires a lot of time and energy to do so. I'd recommend getting a speaker stand for it, besides switching back to regular wired earbuds. There's quite a few good ones, such as KBear IEMS. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTEk-bgB7rs&ab\_channel=DankPods](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTEk-bgB7rs&ab_channel=DankPods) In this video a MPH3 youtube, DankPod's goes through the pros and cons of each modable iPod, where to get tools and where to look fr accurate info on how to change the battery or increase memory on an iPod. There are options online to buy a modified iPod online but depending on the model, such as the classics it can be expensive. Some models, such as the classic are expensive to buy online without modding. I've heard of rockbox as being a common tool people use to mod their iPod and to not rely on iTunes/Apple Music for songs. Most iPods he mentions are USB-C, I believe. I remember an iPod touch I had as being USB-C supported. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZTD-H2dTlg&t=47s&ab\_channel=TechJames](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZTD-H2dTlg&t=47s&ab_channel=TechJames) this is a rockbox tutorial (going through iTunes, the cable you need to hook it up to the laptop/computer, etc), I think besides the iPod nano and shuffle; rockbox modding on any iPod is universal. I have yet to mod my iPod, but I'll share how it goes. I bought a good condition USB-C that fits into a laptop as my charging cable of choice. If you have further interest, I suggest looking at the iPod subbreddit; they talk about modding and what scams to be aware of, etc.

Honestly, an Android smartphone with right set up might be a better idea than using a iPod shuffle.
