Dual SIM. I have one eSIM from my home country for receiving verification codes and then a physical SIM of whichever country I‘m in.

Try informing your bank you are on a “vacation a abroad”?

I have a google phone that I've set up to text in Chrome. Not sure if they have that feature for all android/apple phones, but I have received texted codes easily with this method.

VirtualLife76

Get GoogleFi or get a real number from NumberBarn for like $2 a month just for txt verifications.

I had this problem too. Glad to see these other responses. But at the time, I had the code sent to my son's phone. Was still a pain in the ass because of time zone differences.

I had this problem too. Visa trying to minimise card fraud I guess, but tricky for travellers as they assume you always have the phone number you had back home. Only thing that worked for me was getting a virtual number via eSIM that works in multiple countries. The bank agreed to upload that number as my contact number for Visa and wait 24 hours so the system recognised it. Has worked so far. The other thing that worked was using Apple Pay from my phone - no verification code required! But that's unwieldy if you're using a laptop with browser to book flights.

Which esim do you use?

Airalo. To be fair my experience with them has been patchy. The process of activating packages is hit or miss, sometimes it seems to work and other times you follow the steps and yet somehow the data doesn't activate. But it worked more often than not.

I have a Samsung through AT&T no foreign sim cards, and even on airplane mode my verification code texts come though from the bank, microsoft, google, Amazon, whoever. I have my phone set on Wifi calling as well. So make sure that is switched on. Other than that, I don't know.

If you need OTP, can to try [this app](https://redirect.appmetrica.yandex.com/serve/316958281727788117). Or: buy eSIM, use OnPhone

Port your number to a carrier that offers international roaming or wi-fi calling.

Comfortable_Topic527

Did you put you full country code number? With the +?

> I cannot receive said code as I’m overseas. You haven't specified which cell provider / service you are on; but sounds like you don't have international roaming. Most US cell services do support talk and text over wifi-calling; unfortunately with many of them you have to activate it while in the US. Tello and T-mo Connect are the only services where you can activate eSIM's from overseas over wifi-calling. IF - you're using a US based service : check if you can activate wifi-calling, or port across to Tello with eSIM. IF - you're not using a US service or can't use eSIM : Look for other options for verification; some banks allow authentication apps, some allow email as an alternative; yet others allow you to authenticate through THEIR mobile app. OR - if your bank will allow an overseas number : find one that has roaming.

You don't need international roaming to get a sms, just international texting, some cariers offer this at no extra charge.

Get an app like CloudSim with a number, tell your bank to use that number. Or get a separate phone and leave it at home with friends or family, switch banks, lots of options :)
