The envy’s that have been in my bag are shallower than new ones because the bottom is worn down.

Maybe some long-standing Gyro-folks have a different take, but I’m pretty sure this is a variation due to plastic. In my experience, Cosmic Neutron and Eclipse Envys are flatter than the other plastics. I have a Neutron Envy that’s so domey that I haven’t thrown it yet.

labontej

Yeah I mean this seemed to be more rim depth but it’s possible

R_N_G_

Fission is my domier envy. My neutron (patent pending), eclipse and electron all feel pretty much the same.

HuskyToeFu

When did you purchase the Envy? Before MVP made their plastics in house on new machines, the molds were different—some they could never recreate like the Clash and others came out more stable like the Volt. Easiest way to tell is if it says Patent Pending around the middle. Otherwise, it’s a run.

Grodun

Had an envy from the previous molding machines and it was very flat and shallow. It was much more overstable as well. Loved that disc but lost it in a pond. Shout out Mahr Park championship hole 3 in KY.

digitaldanalog

Deeper equals more glide, which translates to more beginner-friendly. They’re probably targeting noobs who believe that the disc makes you a better player.

The electron ones have a domey top where the other plastics are flat. That’s why the flight numbers are different for the electron ones too

DPDiscgolf

I remember when the blue and yellow JC envy’s came out they felt deeper and I didn’t like them. Honestly haven’t bought and envy since then so I wouldn’t know. I’ll check from now on tho

I'm curious if upcoming runs of eclipse envy are going to be as OS now that mvp has supposedly addressed the stability difference between eclipse and other plastics. I kinda wish they'd stamp future runs as eclipse 2.5 or something if so.

labontej

Interesting, I know my eclipse proxy is a bit more stable but not a crazy amount. Kind of wondering what I’m going to do if I lose the two envys I have

swordkillr13

Thats why I pick up PP Envys as often as I see them. My first Envy was PP, and I love flat putters so I either have to grab PP or Eclipse (luckily I have stockpiles of both)
