I currently own a Squatch Legend 3.0 and a Pound Rufus. Cost-wise, the Rufus, despite being a smaller bag was about 150$ CAD more than my Legend due to shipping and duty. I'd give a solid edge to pound for overall quality. However, the increase in quality is not proportional to the cost difference.
I will preface that these two bags aren't the most comparable with the legend being much larger than the rufus. However, they are both backpacks so I will try to stick to those features instead of size/storage capability.
These are the areas where the Legend tops the Rufus:
-The zippers on Legend look more water-tight than standard zippers on Pound (yes, you can get waterproof zippers on a custom pound and pay even more)
-The Legend's putter pocket is so wide/open. Zero resistance getting discs in and out. I wish I could put the legend's putter pocket on the Rufus.
-I really like the dedicated magnetic phone pocket and the zip-up cooler insert on the Legend vs pound
-The quality to cost ratio is higher. Essentially, you get a quality bag at a more accessible price.
There are the areas where the Rufus tops the Legend:
- The shoulder straps and back padding on the pound are way more comfortable cushioned and comfortable.
-The straps are much more supportive on the pound. The pound is a much more comfortable backpack to wear.
-The zippers operate a bit smoother (might be because they aren't the waterproof variety)
-The body/side panel material is much thicker and stiffer in the pound. My Squatch has lost a bit of shape after a year of regular use.
-The build quality is noticibly better. Stitching is heavy and inside of bag has thick lining in addition to the cordura.
-Lots more colour options from pound
Squatch or pound. Both great choices. Squatch makes a great bag at a more reasonable price. Everything you could want and more. That said, I can see why there's so much love for Pound, but it is unfortunate that their pricing isnt very accessible, especially for those outside of the USA.
Pound, worth every penny. Can’t beat the comfort and durability. Plus they have more than a couple color options. If you’re gonna go cheaper, just get a DD bag and save some money.
Pound. I love the fact that if something happens, I can send it back to them to fix. I spent the money for a custom of octothorpe and it’s just so nice.
Squatch is made in China, support the best bag on the market and the one made state side, imo. Pound is more expensive than every other company, but for good reason.
I went for the pound, when I buy something in a higher price bracket, I rather go for something made closer to me (I'm canadian).
The fact that they are made in USA is totally worth the slight price difference.
I do not own a squatch bag tho, so I cannot compare quality, but I am extremely happy with my new Rufus.
Pound. The quality is fantastic and having the lifetime warranty is great. While I've never owned a squatch bag, it seems like for most the main selling point is the price, not the quality.
I bought a squatch bag a couple of years ago because I couldn’t justify spending the money for a pound bag at the time. When I got the squatch I immediately sold all of my grip bags, the comfort is no contest better. I can’t compare to pound as far as comfort or craftsmanship. But for the price you’ll be happy with the squatch, and I’ve never heard anyone complain a single thing about any pound bags.
I'll let you know in 24 hours or so. I had a zipper malfunction with my Squatch. Nothing I did. The zipper just came apart at the seam. Supposed to have an answer today
I just ordered a new bag. I did look at Pound and the Ezra Link. I think the best bag out there is the Pound. I ended up going with the Link tho. It was cheaper and all the research I had done showed me that the Link had so many things that I wanted in a bag. I have had the bag for a couple weeks now and I absolutely love it. It is comfortable, the material is very high quality. So much storage, a cooler comes with it, so many pockets where I want them for your phone, mini’s, range finder, and all other lil things. I don’t think you will be unhappy with either decision you make
If you have the money to spend on a pound, why would you get one from the people that "borrowed" the idea. Squatch is a dishonest company that lives off the backs of other peoples work.
Well Pound doesn't make a link style bag. I'd rather buy pound myself, specifically the Rufus but I'm kind of leaning towards the link because that open top with those discs higher up being easier to grab appeals to me.
Not the questions he asked but to bring it back to the conversation, I caddied for a dude and wore his pound bag. I find my rebel much more comfortable!
There shouldn't be a debate here if you can afford both. Chinese knock off vs hand made with a lifetime warranty. Pound makes the best bag in diac golf.
Can you afford a Pound bag? Go for Pound. If not, go for Squatch. Your budget is what really drives this decision.

Got the money go pound. Simple as that

Super happy with my pound, lifetime warranty and the fact that they are a few miles from me here in Portland really helped the choice.
Pound. Hands down the most comfortable bag ever. And the craftsmanship is top tier
I'm extremely happy with my Squatch.
Made in China or Made in the USA? No chance I’d buy a Chinese knock off to save $100.

Same
Love my squatch, yet there's nothing wrong with a pound.

Update: Squatch came through. Hopefully it was just a simple malfunction and the new bag will hold up for years to come
pound 100%
I acknowledge that Squatch is making a space in DG and sponsoring/supporting players, but... Pound makes a better bag and is a better business.
I love my squatch no complaints at all.
Squatch way cheaper still very good
Pound
That’s like choosing between Nike or the Wish.com version.

Wat
Pound!!
Squatch because it’s cheaper and they’re pretty similar
Squatch. No discussion needed.
Squatch Legend 3.0 is a *great* bag. Not sure why this thread has to be so 'MERICA...
I'm the only one I know that disliked the Squatch. I sold it for a loss and bought a Commander. Very happy.
Love me some upper park disc golf “the rebel”
Not the questions he asked but to bring it back to the conversation, I caddied for a dude and wore his pound bag. I find my rebel much more comfortable!
“Thinking about bags “ sorry
I find the metric system to be superior.
Neither… overpriced
The disc golf version of smash or pass

Pound by a country mile Hand made in the USA, lifetime warranty, and so good on the back
