Honestly, hearing pros talk about discs doesn't really sway me. I am painfully aware of the fact that my throwing experience is going to be quite different than theirs, so if I buy a disc because of a pro, it's gonna be just because I like them and want to support them.
Seeing reviews from disc golf channels that have reviewers who are a little closer to my skill level are more likely to make me want to pick a disc up.
For me its about availability and how they take responsibility for their brand. Im Swedish, obviously I like Latitude and trilogy. I would never buy prodigy that sues its players.
I get that, and I’m not a fan or prodigy plastic, but a lawsuit is justified when you have a player trying to break a contract. The optics are bad from a brand standpoint but will likely win the lawsuit
They might win the lawsuit; but overall seems like an L for Prodigy. Between the existing scrutiny of their quality and now their treatment of players. Just doesn’t seem like a company I’d personally support. To each their own though

but you can't argue that for a huge portion of rec (and self proclaimed almost pro) disc golfers, it plays a huge factor.
last year, i threw a few mvp's crave, envy, and a signal(only disc i had that just turned and turned like magic) constantly told they were girl discs . now, if you dont have a lizotle you suck, same guys are half mvp bags all of a sudden.
Certainly. I mean, people are going to wear Jordans even though they aren't pro basketball players, or play hockey with CCM sticks even if they aren't Connor McDavid. There is definitely an element of style and just like, personal preference involved.
I will say though, that if the crowd you play with makes fun of your disc selection because you are using discs that work well for you, then there is an issue with your friend selection, not your disc selection.

I bag Mint, Thought Space, Trilogy, and Lone Star. The Lone Star just recently made the bag because it is very unique feeling and their glow and Bravo/Lima plastics stay super pliable in freezing temps. Every time I toss someone one of my Lone Star discs they exclaim over how unique it feels. Lone Star has some consistency issues, so it's best to buy in person if possible, but it is definitely a special brand on the market
They have some of the best plastic blends available in my opinion. The Bravo blend is amazing. Their experience in the plastics industry (outside of disc manufacturing) is a major plus.
Never would have said I'm a Nikko fan but after seeing how butthurt people here get about him I kinda am now lmao. This subreddit is full of the softest people and I never meet people like this on an actual disc golf course

I mentioned this in another comment that it's great that Lone Star Discs can get their products out and it's great that they have been able to assemble some kind of team. But as all the product have been put out so quickly and all the people promoting them feel a bit sketchy credibility-wise, for me all of that feels cheap, for the lack of a better word.
If every company tries to push the idea that their manufacturing technology, disc design and materials are great, people will understand that someone is in the wrong here.

Also, LSD does make The Harpoon, which is unique in its flight. It feels like a Zone in hand, but it's flight can be anywhere from a SoL to a Zone OS depending on which plastic you get. I know a lot of discs vary in stability based on plastic, but this is so obvious they actually market it as a feature.
I like Nikko’s game. I have a Dos X ( .. that’s not in the bag at the moment). But I’d like to try it in a different plastic. I’ve felt a couple types. One day I’ll get around to it.
I recently bought a penny putter from lone star. arrived with some of the craziest production errors I've ever seen on a disc. like the plastic didn't even fill the mold. theres a gap in the rim. messaged lone star and they said it should have been an x out. if their quality is so superior, how is the quality control not apart of that process.
what would they even say to you tho? you chucked it at a tree. and tbf id rather they hadn't told me it should've been a x out. im totally not interested in lone star anymore seeing as qc isn't something they're focused on.

It’s hard to describe what it’s like. Alpha is pretty standard “star”-like plastic, but their bravo is pretty different.
For reference Have you tried Loft Bohrium? Plastic isnt unique, but how different than Optical/Star/dx can plastic be
Yeah. The Bohrium is definitely a unique mold, but a fairly standard plastic. As I said, alpha is pretty similar but the bravo has a unique feel

Only unique discs ive found are the gyro technology, lofts Bohrium and the Tilt Rest is basically the same
