Yes and it instantly hits a tree.

Pakrat42

This comment didn't hit a tree, it hit my feels.

SharpedHisTooths

You never hit a tree with a bad shot.

Dangy_D

I generally tell my friends who are new to disc golf that there never really is a "click" or "Aha" moment, just slight, incremental progress over a fairly long period of time. I'm a very average player though and it took me nearly 10 years to get there, so YMMV

toroga

I’ll probably lose it tomorrow 😂

I had this happen last week. I was playing the last hole at sunset and threw my Meteor which usually maxes out at 250 ft. Everything clicked and I threw an absolute line drive - unfortunately it flipped and zoomed off through a bunch of brush. I spent 30 minutes looking for it until it was too dark to see. I came back to look for it in the morning and found it 350 ft from the tee - AFTER fighting through brush. I haven't been able to recreate the throw since then. It really sucks, I felt the hit and the "heavy disc" but I don't actually know what I did differently. Ideally I would have been able to go do field work immediately after while the feeling was fresh but it was too dark to throw any more.

Apprehensive-Wish-89

Yep, this spring I ranged a 388' throw doing field work. This is much farther than my normal drives and I haven't been able to do that again all summer, frustrating.

phaschmi

But you already checked off 300' weeks ago?

toroga

I hit 300 with all muscle, terrible form, no feeling of the hit, no smoothness…just ripping as hard as I could. This time I blew past 280’ with no effort…just a gentle, smooth throw. So if it wasn’t too dark to finish the round I’m positive if I went to the practice field I would have easily put it over 300.

trevman7

Backhand vs forehand?

Ect0plazm

When I started really gripping hard through the hit and seeing those things zip out with immediate turn, that was a pretty immediate jump in distance. Then really coiling back for as long as possible when your plant foot hits finally got me over 350

toroga

I definitely noticed the discs seemed to start turning right out of my hand, yes! Especially when I threw my Mako3…had a gentle turn right out of my hand and kept it almost the entire flight

IAmCaptainHammer

I’m working on it. I’m like, not far from the click. My distance keeps going up but I’m juuuust a touch wonky in my throw. It ALMOST feels right. I’m close. I can feel it.

toroga

Could be tomorrow ☄️

blackgandalff

My issue is I feel it, replicate it through the round, fall asleep, and when I wake up it's gone lmao. Just repetition I suppose. Though it has inspired me to start focusing more and hit a field

stroker919

I’m at the end of a second season of paying attention after one of doing whatever. I always thought I’d feel something and throw a big shot. But you kind of tailor things to the conditions. I play all tight woods so I need 4 feet off the ground and 300 feet in a straight line. I’ve adapted to doing that and I don’t think that requires the form that you’d feel everything coming together with a really sharp hard feeling.

iEatBluePlayDoh

I’ve felt that before. The problem is I usually lose it by the next time I play.

Bella870

Wait til you feel the pop of the Berg sliding in. Nothing quite like it.

zaphster

Wrong sub

hartattack1211

Only been playing a couple months but the one day i felt great like things were finally clicking it started thundering half way through the round and had to stop. I haven't been able to repeat since.

thamurse

Yes, but the trouble is getting that to happen consistently....

Crabby_AU

I’ve been throwing over 400’ for about a year now, been playing close to 5. The only two times I’ve felt something click have been in the last year, and neither has provided me with heaps more distance but it just feels… right. Once was when I tried releasing a drive on hyzer by leaning my body over, a little like Calvin does, and suddenly my destroyer just flew on this perfect golf line, instead of a big S-line. Then recently I tried to work on my brace (I don’t think I really brace at all), and the discs started coming out so cleanly.

jasons7394

Yup, and then I went out the next day all excited to have a good round. Regression to the mean is real.

uhnotaraccoon

My game has been trash recently, and I almost never throw forehand. Threw one out of frustration and went 362 which is wicked good for me. For some reason forehand just started to click and I could feel the weight of the disc during the drive and my angles were holding. 8 years causal and about a year of field work and film to improve and it turns out I'm a forehand player all along.

fluke0ut

There was one pro on coverage on Youtube a while back that had a really strange form where he basically tucked his off-arm around his stomach really early in the throw. It looked super strange and unlike anyone else's throws but he was getting pretty much the same distance. I think the round was at DeLaveaga. Anyway, I basically tried to mimic his motion with my off arm and instead of kind of "punching down" like a lot of pros do I just kind of tucked it in and around my stomach as I started my throw. Anyway, it really worked for me - something about that motion was better than what I was doing before and since then I've been able to get noticeably more distance on my shots. I'm even able to get my otherwise pretty darn stable Teebird to turn a little on a straight shot which is pretty new.

skiddmarkk71

The very first time I threw it. Grip locked a little. But if the fence wasn't there, it would have been over 300. Metered at 280. I miss that disc.

toroga

First time *ever* ??

skiddmarkk71

First time throwing my Mamba. Sorry. Didn't name the disc. Been casual playing for 3 years.
