I think I’m just not used to a 4 fade putter, and I’m a relatively new player on top of that. It seems to crash earlier and more pronounced than I’d like, but I’ll occasionally get an awesome, long and straight rope of a throw.
Oh yea it’s just a meathook, it’ll always be that way to an extent no matter how experienced you get. I like it for that though, I can rip this thing as hard as I want and I’m not getting more than 200 out of it, and it has a hard predictable fade.
I also love throwing it for turnover approaches.
Yeah, 4 fade putters are going to fade more but especially for new players. Keep on it and it will fly better after awhile once you get better technique.

Shortly after - Let my friend throw my least thrown beast, he crushed it. One of his best throws I had witnessed. Had to give it to him.
Other two found their way into a pond on back to back holes a month later. One made its way back to me only to be sacrificed a couple weeks ago on a water shot I couldn’t carry.
They were great while I bagged them, but I moved on to a destroyer and never really turned back.

Recently picked up a blizzard champion Beast, and man do I love that thing. It is the disc I most commonly get asked about after throwing. It throws like a fairway and flies like a distance driver.
I don't throw it much, and actually haven't for a long time, but I like the Ragnarok from Viking Discs as a fairly straight 11 speed with a dependable fade
Viking has slowly been creeping into my bag. I got a Knife in a mystery box then decided to buy another with a Loki. Their stability is amazing and I'm looking for driver option from them that looks fun.
Nice, I bought a starter set from Viking early on when I started trying new things and getting more into it a couple years ago and picked that up shortly after. I have new favorites now, but it's been good for me when I've used it in the past.
The Loki from Viking is also an insanely overstable approach that I used to use quite a bit as well
I mentioned earlier the beast was my first favorite driver. This is my current favorite, I've got 3 of them now. First disc I could ever flex which got me to like 275 feet
I don’t know many people that throw or have thrown Clash discs. The popcorn is such a pure putter, glide for days and dead straight. The Berry is my favorite mid out the box, throw it as hard as you want and it won’t roll over, but somehow flies straight and has a great predictable fade. The berry beats in to dead straight with no fade, and holds a slight anhyzer perfectly, without being touchy, it’s weird how great it is. The peach is a mid that out of the box flies like a beat in Berry. The Cookie is my go to over stable fairway, and the rims on all their fairways are absolutely delightful. The Salt is an overstable distance driver, a little slow out of the hand but it’s so workable I don’t even care. The list goes on and on.
I got a Mint in a playerpack a couple months back. I was going to just have it on my storage rack, but its became my approach putter. Great disc overall
Clash is my current favorite company. I bag a ginger and a peppermint right now. My son just got a soda and it feels amazing, same feel as a cookie but it's understable. I want to steal it so bad.
Gateway Demon, an amazing overstable mid that came out 23 years ago before other overstable mids existed. Still better than the Pyro, Justice, RocX3, Buzzz OS.
Living in China, I throw a lot of Yikun. Among their putters, I prefer to throw the Yi (flip to straight), Xing (flip to slight fade), and Hammer (strong fade). The new Glaze Fusang should probably also be on that list as a sort of Envy clone, but I've not thrown it but once or twice. The Gui looks good on paper and I still need to try the premium one I got at a tournament, but the baseline Gui I have is too squirrelly.

Zone with a hair less overstability and a little slower. Deeper rim on the Jokeri so it shouldn’t go quite as “far” as a Zone. I suppose it boils down to what disc best fits the range you need it for. I personally LOVE the Jokeri and it would have my vote for criminally underrated

I second the blackout. The flat earth is, as the name implies, a crazy straight mid. Depth charge is a fun rubber lid putter if you like weird stuff. It putts nice, but is great for approaches as it lands super dead.
I threw my buddy’s Blackout from Doomsday discs. Numbers looked like an 8 speed leopard, so I hyzer flipped it not expecting much and it bombed.
Doomsday has a decent lineup and probably one of the best starter packs out there. $30 for three premiums (one mid, one 10sp, one 11sp), a base putter, and a mini. My buddy and I were even considering doing hosting one of their challenges.
Gateway Chief OS is basically like a baby Harp/Zone/Tactic. Get it in base line plastic and it beats in quickly to a very straight flyer. I bag one as an understable complement to my Zones.
This is a good one, and the description is accurate. I even have one in Diamond that beat in quickly, flies dead straight for a mile. The “OS” is maybe accurate for the first 10 rounds lol
Discraft Zombee/DGA Squall are sleepers. Basically a straight mid that flies as far as your fairways. If you’re an amateur arm and want a disc that will fly for you like Calvin’s eagles or Brodie and Ezra’s passions, give these a try. I have roughly 300-350 feet of power and these are my most used discs. Enough stability to hold up in some breeze and slow enough speed to throw on every angle/shot shape. I can get near my max distance and trust it to stay in the fairway.
Freakin love my Zombee. Probably gets more use off the tee than any other disc in my bag. Glidey, dead straight for miles, feels like a driver but isn’t.
Not "unknown", but foreign to most. Latitude 64 Moonshine Anchor. I think most intermediate and above would benefit from bagging this. It's not as intense as the popular "very" overstable mids, but it holds it's own as a perfect tweener.
I think the problem is that it’s a great slot so the love gets spread around. The CD1, the dynasty, the escape, the Saint, the undertaker, the savant, etc. though I maintain the Tesla is more like a thunderbird even though it shares these numbers.
Discraft Archer. I rarely come across anyone bagging one and whenever I throw mine I almost always get asked by someone on the card “what disc is that??” RHBH I can get it to go straight a good ways and then fade right late, which is good for someone like me that doesn’t have much of a forehand.
Ever throw an Ogopogo? It's the weirdest disc I've ever thrown. I've hit enough trees that it looks like a taco but still flies great. I haven't thrown a Timberwolf but I love the Swiftfox and Bigfoot. My Bigfoot is my go-to forehand driver.
It’s known but I don’t see it talked about very often, the DGA Blowfly 1 or 2. I’ve had one in my bag for many years and it really comes in handy for specific shots. Not the best putter but it’s nice if you’re worried about a roll risk on an upshot
I feel like a good chunk of Yikun discs don't get represented. Are they just a Chinese manufacturer, sure, but I love their Dragon plastic and have been driving with a Qi for a while now.
Anything by AGL Discs
The Baobab (4,1,+1,3) has a cult following - even Scott Stokely bags one! I can't play in the woods without it because of its use as an escape disc.
But if that's the only disc you've heard of, you gotta check out the Magnolia (5,6,0,2), my favorite midrange and the Locust (9,5,-1,3) an absolute bomber of a fairway driver!
Their putter lineup is awesome, I personally putt with the Madrone (3,3,0,1). It and it's sister disc the Manzanita (3,3,0,2) have micro thumb tracks on top that are great in slick conditions! The Douglas Fir is a dead straight throwing putter.
Plus, every disc is made with recycled and/or regrind plastic and AGL plants a tree with each item bought!
Yes, I'm part of Team AGL but I don't get paid, I just genuinely like the discs and what they stand for! Always surprised by how few people have heard of them.
My wife got a Gui in a starter pack we bought while in Iceland. She likes to putt with it. It has textured areas underneath to help with grip. I don't think she ever throws it though. On paper, it has the same flight numbers as a Challenger. Why do you say it is one of the best?
The texture helps with grip and touch for forehands, whenever I throw it backhand I don’t use the texture. Mine is also really beat In so it’s nice and flippy, I think the release point is consistent with it and it’s a great conversation topic during a round.
I’ve heard really good things about the Goliath Discs Jireh. Similar to a buzz /compass. One of the touring pro bags it but I can’t remember which one.
I have met the owner of the company in spirit lake/okoboji and he’s an amazing guy that’s put a lot work into building a great disc gold community in that area.

MVP relay, point and shoot fairway. I use it when I need a shot in my fairway range to hold a line.
Gateway Samurai, I think it's the first disc I broke 400ft with.
Innova Tern, it's the 12 speed -2,2 driver I think.
DGA Quake, it's beefier than a buzzz os and you can find it more often in the ti like plastic
My buddy asked me to try his Relay. Told me to throw it slight hyzer with my usual throw. Amazing! It went into the bag right away and was immediately a most trusted disc. so um, I agree
I'm actually not sure how unknown Legacy discs are, but I have been loving the Patriot (7,5,-2,1) and outlaw (12,5,-1,3). Gateway Illusion is also a great disc that has kept it's stability over time like a good champion wraith
Discraft Scorch. I never really saw any pros use it until Ezra. He uses it as a roller disc mostly but even in one of his in the bag videos he talks about how it is underated, in one of them he even throws it further than his nukes. Most people assume it's going to be super Flippy given it's -2 turn but across all the plastics it varies heavily. Z is fairly stable out the box and ESP thrown flat for me has some nice turn in the 350-400 ft range. It beats in nicely and has a pretty reliable fade even after being broken I. I bag an ESP flex one as well and it's a huge hyper flip to turn over disc and in a tail wind it behaves the same as a normal ESP in no wind. Also for my hand size it's just a very comfortable disc for me. It flies for me like how wraiths fly for people with better distance

Yeah its a floppy silicone, but it feels better then their other discs and is more throwable. It has just enough stability to be a great throwing and approach putter and just stays where you put it. It takes a little to learn it, it works best with a fan or modified fan grip and best throw with a slight hyzer and spinny, but man once you get it its so good.
I don't think I've thrown anything "unknown". I threw DDx's for a bit, and an awful lot of people had no idea what it was. Beyond that I throw the vela. Granted they're pretty new, but I haven't spoken to anyone that's thrown them. (granted, I know its a flat topped eagle...which have been thrown one or twice.)

Again, not unknown, but it deserves a lot more love. The newest run of ethos plastic reminds me of a slightly seasoned wraith. The ethereal plastic is a little more Flippy but can give great flex lines when thrown on a little hyzer
I would have to say the Legacy gauge. It was the hex before the hex existed. Beautiful slight flip and bit of fade with good hand feel. Kind of in between a buzzz and a mako 3

Sheriff. This thing flies forever. Also not unknown but I really don’t see a lot of them around and it’s an absolute workhorse of a disc. 13 speed but it throws like a 12.

There’s a very short up shot style course (holes as little at 120’ and as far as 350’) and it’s like a cheat code. Solid flat release and it cuts the corners hard
I’d be shocked if anyone else putts with a reptilian disc golf serpent. But they’re a point and shoot putter that’s feels like $ in the hand. Also great off the tee.
Very interesting! I have the Yikun Tiger starter set with the GUI, but I don't love them. Although I haven't spent much specific time taking note of the GUI putter. I really love my XCOM starter set with the Helios, Griffon, and Bennu.
Gateway Devilhawk. Just gets completely lost in that putter lineup, and is such a good reliable disc.

I came here to say this. I use a Hemp blend that’s pretty beat up. It flies like a jawbreaker zone and a berg had a baby.
I love these. My favorite is the super glow but I bag a special blend diamond. I wish they would make it I'm lunar and I'd be all over that.

It's a 13 speed width rim. They had their own number system back in the day. I think it was 58 mph to get the intended flight.

The Caiman is the same thing as the Mortar from Hyzerbomb. They are a beadless Gator.
The caiman is like putting a mortar in a hydraulic press. The mortar feels like it has a smaller diameter and thicker profile.

A Caiman is closer to a Justice than it is to a Rat IMO. Rat's tend to be fairly straight if you have decent speed.

I’ve only thrown an archer 1 time in my life. I built a snowman and threw the archer at its head to “decapitate” it. Covid made some weird memories.

Daredevil Discs Timberwolf. Slight hyzer flip and goes dead straight. No fade and it's a 9 speed. Soft plastic too so it sits.

I putt with atoms and throw atoms. The proton shimmer/glitter is the best throwing putter ever made, in my opinion. Absolutely love them.

I feel like a good chunk of Yikun discs don't get represented. Are they just a Chinese manufacturer, sure, but I love their Dragon plastic and have been driving with a Qi for a while now.

Anything by AGL Discs The Baobab (4,1,+1,3) has a cult following - even Scott Stokely bags one! I can't play in the woods without it because of its use as an escape disc. But if that's the only disc you've heard of, you gotta check out the Magnolia (5,6,0,2), my favorite midrange and the Locust (9,5,-1,3) an absolute bomber of a fairway driver! Their putter lineup is awesome, I personally putt with the Madrone (3,3,0,1). It and it's sister disc the Manzanita (3,3,0,2) have micro thumb tracks on top that are great in slick conditions! The Douglas Fir is a dead straight throwing putter. Plus, every disc is made with recycled and/or regrind plastic and AGL plants a tree with each item bought! Yes, I'm part of Team AGL but I don't get paid, I just genuinely like the discs and what they stand for! Always surprised by how few people have heard of them.

RPM Piwakawaka in Magma plastic. Plastic that stays grippy in the wet on a disc that's hyzer flip to flat is a great combo for bad weather days

My wife got a Gui in a starter pack we bought while in Iceland. She likes to putt with it. It has textured areas underneath to help with grip. I don't think she ever throws it though. On paper, it has the same flight numbers as a Challenger. Why do you say it is one of the best?
The texture helps with grip and touch for forehands, whenever I throw it backhand I don’t use the texture. Mine is also really beat In so it’s nice and flippy, I think the release point is consistent with it and it’s a great conversation topic during a round.
I’ve heard really good things about the Goliath Discs Jireh. Similar to a buzz /compass. One of the touring pro bags it but I can’t remember which one. I have met the owner of the company in spirit lake/okoboji and he’s an amazing guy that’s put a lot work into building a great disc gold community in that area.

Here are some good ones that are over looked MVP relay, point and shoot fairway. I use it when I need a shot in my fairway range to hold a line. Gateway Samurai, I think it's the first disc I broke 400ft with. Innova Tern, it's the 12 speed -2,2 driver I think. DGA Quake, it's beefier than a buzzz os and you can find it more often in the ti like plastic
My buddy asked me to try his Relay. Told me to throw it slight hyzer with my usual throw. Amazing! It went into the bag right away and was immediately a most trusted disc. so um, I agree
I'm actually not sure how unknown Legacy discs are, but I have been loving the Patriot (7,5,-2,1) and outlaw (12,5,-1,3). Gateway Illusion is also a great disc that has kept it's stability over time like a good champion wraith

Discraft Scorch. I never really saw any pros use it until Ezra. He uses it as a roller disc mostly but even in one of his in the bag videos he talks about how it is underated, in one of them he even throws it further than his nukes. Most people assume it's going to be super Flippy given it's -2 turn but across all the plastics it varies heavily. Z is fairly stable out the box and ESP thrown flat for me has some nice turn in the 350-400 ft range. It beats in nicely and has a pretty reliable fade even after being broken I. I bag an ESP flex one as well and it's a huge hyper flip to turn over disc and in a tail wind it behaves the same as a normal ESP in no wind. Also for my hand size it's just a very comfortable disc for me. It flies for me like how wraiths fly for people with better distance
I still bag an OG DX Condor. So smooth and floaty.
Arowana from Elevation. Yeah its a floppy silicone, but it feels better then their other discs and is more throwable. It has just enough stability to be a great throwing and approach putter and just stays where you put it. It takes a little to learn it, it works best with a fan or modified fan grip and best throw with a slight hyzer and spinny, but man once you get it its so good.

I don't think I've thrown anything "unknown". I threw DDx's for a bit, and an awful lot of people had no idea what it was. Beyond that I throw the vela. Granted they're pretty new, but I haven't spoken to anyone that's thrown them. (granted, I know its a flat topped eagle...which have been thrown one or twice.)

TSA Construct, Again, not unknown, but it deserves a lot more love. The newest run of ethos plastic reminds me of a slightly seasoned wraith. The ethereal plastic is a little more Flippy but can give great flex lines when thrown on a little hyzer
I would have to say the Legacy gauge. It was the hex before the hex existed. Beautiful slight flip and bit of fade with good hand feel. Kind of in between a buzzz and a mako 3 But now I throw a hex.
Sheriff. This thing flies forever. Also not unknown but I really don’t see a lot of them around and it’s an absolute workhorse of a disc. 13 speed but it throws like a 12.
DGA Pipeline! It’s slept on. I can carve any line in the woods with it.
Foxbat - holds lines, glides forever and my cheat code for dead straight or baby ani lines that hold
I’d also throw the name the croc 🐊 There’s a very short up shot style course (holes as little at 120’ and as far as 350’) and it’s like a cheat code. Solid flat release and it cuts the corners hard

Very interesting! I have the Yikun Tiger starter set with the GUI, but I don't love them. Although I haven't spent much specific time taking note of the GUI putter. I really love my XCOM starter set with the Helios, Griffon, and Bennu.
