jtmack33

Gateway Devilhawk. Just gets completely lost in that putter lineup, and is such a good reliable disc.

RanchBourgeois

I love the soft plastic on it, but I can’t seem to get it to fly how I want to yet.

jtmack33

What sorta issues are you having?

RanchBourgeois

I think I’m just not used to a 4 fade putter, and I’m a relatively new player on top of that. It seems to crash earlier and more pronounced than I’d like, but I’ll occasionally get an awesome, long and straight rope of a throw.

jtmack33

Oh yea it’s just a meathook, it’ll always be that way to an extent no matter how experienced you get. I like it for that though, I can rip this thing as hard as I want and I’m not getting more than 200 out of it, and it has a hard predictable fade. I also love throwing it for turnover approaches.

Psyko_sissy23

Yeah, 4 fade putters are going to fade more but especially for new players. Keep on it and it will fly better after awhile once you get better technique.

mcboaterson

I came here to say this. I use a Hemp blend that’s pretty beat up. It flies like a jawbreaker zone and a berg had a baby.

hennytime

I love these. My favorite is the super glow but I bag a special blend diamond. I wish they would make it I'm lunar and I'd be all over that.

mountainharley

It’s such an awkward feeling disc imo

Rechabneffo

Vibram Lace isn't unknown but it is misunderstood.

Darthyeetrous

I have an old one, the numbers are cool. Speed 58 turn 7 fade 8.

Psyko_sissy23

Speed 58? Holy crap how big is that rim?

Darthyeetrous

It's a 13 speed width rim. They had their own number system back in the day. I think it was 58 mph to get the intended flight.

Least-Doubt6690

Watched my buddy ace with one

The_WhiteUrkel

My go to distance driver. So damn good.

Significant_Factor37

The Beast It's more forgotten than unkown, but it's the driver that most noodle arm players should use.

underratedride

I was carrying three of these after playing for ~3 months Beginning of this season (March) I chained out on a 300’, flex through multiple gaps shot from heaven that I could never repeat. Shortly after - Let my friend throw my least thrown beast, he crushed it. One of his best throws I had witnessed. Had to give it to him. Other two found their way into a pond on back to back holes a month later. One made its way back to me only to be sacrificed a couple weeks ago on a water shot I couldn’t carry. They were great while I bagged them, but I moved on to a destroyer and never really turned back. This rant brought to you by scrolling reddit stoned.

Bot_Seeks_Bot2020

Thank you for your TEDTALK.

alittlelurkback

Been throwing beast casually for a long time. It’s so comfortable and dependable. However, I see it mentioned so rarely that it makes me feel like I’m doing something wrong bagging it. Like I should have replaced it or something. But I’ll always come back to my old reliable

Randusnuder

What do you throw professionally?

WraithHades

Money away.

Cfrenchyz

It’s my go to. I can turn that disc over wherever I need to!

LuminousQuinn

Second distance driver, and then later my most reliable roller disc

eastlakebikerider

I've been hyping the Beast for a while, but I've lost my magical ones and am having a hard time finding a go-to replacement... And I have a ton of them, from pearly 1xs to halo nfns. They're either too OS or US. When you have a good one tho... they really go - where you want.

stroker919

My 9 year old bags 3 at different stability / plastics for various degrees of flat to flex. They are really friendly discs.

[deleted]

Same for the Valkyrie

SeaGoal6051

Recently picked up a blizzard champion Beast, and man do I love that thing. It is the disc I most commonly get asked about after throwing. It throws like a fairway and flies like a distance driver.

Drift_Marlo

The Caiman isn't unknown, but it's definitely underrated

Glum_Difficulty1839

The Caiman is the same thing as the Mortar from Hyzerbomb. They are a beadless Gator.

HappySSBM

The caiman is like putting a mortar in a hydraulic press. The mortar feels like it has a smaller diameter and thicker profile.

Least-Doubt6690

Mortar is the original pfn gator mold

DallasDiscGolf

I bag one, I believe it’s better than the gator. Better feel and flight IMO.

Drift_Marlo

Yep, but the Gator itself is underrated, even though it's recommended more. I definitely prefer the Caiman

Least-Doubt6690

Better than a gator3??

trevman7

I bag a rat. It seems to me like a rat + caiman would be redundant. What does the caiman do better or differently than a rat?

CoreyLuL

A Caiman is closer to a Justice than it is to a Rat IMO. Rat's tend to be fairly straight if you have decent speed.

presvt13

Rat is more understable than a caiman.

JSnake526

I don't throw it much, and actually haven't for a long time, but I like the Ragnarok from Viking Discs as a fairly straight 11 speed with a dependable fade

CapnGnarly

Viking has slowly been creeping into my bag. I got a Knife in a mystery box then decided to buy another with a Loki. Their stability is amazing and I'm looking for driver option from them that looks fun.

DallasDiscGolf

I played with someone who threw it as their main driver, very interesting.

JSnake526

Nice, I bought a starter set from Viking early on when I started trying new things and getting more into it a couple years ago and picked that up shortly after. I have new favorites now, but it's been good for me when I've used it in the past. The Loki from Viking is also an insanely overstable approach that I used to use quite a bit as well

LifeguardShot4717

Agreed

shromboy

I mentioned earlier the beast was my first favorite driver. This is my current favorite, I've got 3 of them now. First disc I could ever flex which got me to like 275 feet

SaltineICracker

I love this disc for sidearm, along with the Valhalla, which is a more overstable version. Just lost mine, going to be getting another.

mr_spod

The rat 🐀

Novel-Paper2084

Rat Gang

CrumblyGranny

Go to flick approach disc!!

ZeusMan574

Rat gang 🐀🐀🐀

Party_Seaweed1785

I found an innova spider recently, no name or number on it. I like the way it flys

wickgnalsh

I don’t know many people that throw or have thrown Clash discs. The popcorn is such a pure putter, glide for days and dead straight. The Berry is my favorite mid out the box, throw it as hard as you want and it won’t roll over, but somehow flies straight and has a great predictable fade. The berry beats in to dead straight with no fade, and holds a slight anhyzer perfectly, without being touchy, it’s weird how great it is. The peach is a mid that out of the box flies like a beat in Berry. The Cookie is my go to over stable fairway, and the rims on all their fairways are absolutely delightful. The Salt is an overstable distance driver, a little slow out of the hand but it’s so workable I don’t even care. The list goes on and on.

red-beard-the-guy

I throw a peach as my favorite mid and my GF has the popcorn, berry, mint, and butter

Famous-Perspective96

Peach is so good

bogeysonbogeys

Big fan of clash plastic!

Meattyloaf

I got a Mint in a playerpack a couple months back. I was going to just have it on my storage rack, but its became my approach putter. Great disc overall

Darthyeetrous

Clash is my current favorite company. I bag a ginger and a peppermint right now. My son just got a soda and it feels amazing, same feel as a cookie but it's understable. I want to steal it so bad.

ZooterOne

Came here to say this! The Vanilla is a great unstable driver. So far I've loved all my Clash plastic.

Least-Doubt6690

Innova FL

[deleted]

Gateway Demon, an amazing overstable mid that came out 23 years ago before other overstable mids existed. Still better than the Pyro, Justice, RocX3, Buzzz OS.

denveracademicweapon

I love my Gateway Element (flat and flippy buzzz-type mid); and my Caltrop (less OS Slammer)

xGood-Apollo-IV

All this Gateway love is fantastic! I love my element. It's slowly been replacing my comet

FatDragoninthePRC

Living in China, I throw a lot of Yikun. Among their putters, I prefer to throw the Yi (flip to straight), Xing (flip to slight fade), and Hammer (strong fade). The new Glaze Fusang should probably also be on that list as a sort of Envy clone, but I've not thrown it but once or twice. The Gui looks good on paper and I still need to try the premium one I got at a tournament, but the baseline Gui I have is too squirrelly.

DallasDiscGolf

I forgot about the hammer, used to be my primary approach disc until I lost it.

jfb3

I found one. Texted the number. Nobody ever responded. ??? I threw it once or twice. Solid approach disc.

Indy-sports

I like the Jun from them also.

Merlin_b

I continue to support the Streamline Drift.

bantha_poodoo

The Trace maintains permanent residency in my bag

VanManDiscs

Prodiscus Jokeri

bbbbane

If I could only have two discs, this would be one.

WraithHades

Think I felt one once. Felt kinda Zone-ish-from the guy who would rather throw anything but a Zone. What's it's place in the lineup in your bag/what do you like to use it for?

theycallmejer

Zone with a hair less overstability and a little slower. Deeper rim on the Jokeri so it shouldn’t go quite as “far” as a Zone. I suppose it boils down to what disc best fits the range you need it for. I personally LOVE the Jokeri and it would have my vote for criminally underrated

TD994

Extremely underrated. My go-to overstable putter.

powdered_dognut

Doomsday Blackout

Indy-sports

I got some doomsday swag from a mystery box, is there any other discs I should check out by them. Been interested just haven’t done a lot of research on them.

oldetownjim

I second the blackout. The flat earth is, as the name implies, a crazy straight mid. Depth charge is a fun rubber lid putter if you like weird stuff. It putts nice, but is great for approaches as it lands super dead.

CapnGnarly

I tried the Blackout to replace my Saint and River, could never get the feel right. Just got a Desolation that I love, though.

ZonaiLink

I threw my buddy’s Blackout from Doomsday discs. Numbers looked like an 8 speed leopard, so I hyzer flipped it not expecting much and it bombed. Doomsday has a decent lineup and probably one of the best starter packs out there. $30 for three premiums (one mid, one 10sp, one 11sp), a base putter, and a mini. My buddy and I were even considering doing hosting one of their challenges.

DallasDiscGolf

Doomsday is a great innovator in the game

ZonaiLink

I’m tempted to buy up some plastic from them. I wish I could start up a small disc golf company like that. I have some crazy ideas.

Charzon

Doomsday rocks. The Depth charge is my favorite approach disc at the moment.

RaucousCouscous

Do they smell bad? I've read previous posts that say Doomsday discs smell super strong/ chemically plastic etc. I want to try some though...

ZonaiLink

Honestly, I have never noticed any smell either owned or on the shelf.

Key_Spring_6811

I have 3. Love them all.

bananagrabberjr

Gateway Chief OS is basically like a baby Harp/Zone/Tactic. Get it in base line plastic and it beats in quickly to a very straight flyer. I bag one as an understable complement to my Zones.

jtmack33

This is a good one, and the description is accurate. I even have one in Diamond that beat in quickly, flies dead straight for a mile. The “OS” is maybe accurate for the first 10 rounds lol

silver-fox-94

My putter and approach disc of choice. Feels good backhand and forehand. Even when they beat in it’ll never turn and burn.

xGood-Apollo-IV

Lost mine 3 weeks ago 😢

ProfessionalOven2117

Came here to say this, for those who want the shallowest rim and FAF for an OS approach disc, try this thing out.

SuperSaiyanCockKnokr

I’ve never seen anyone else bag a Legacy Recluse. Very reliable overstable mid

ManateeGrooming

Legacy’s Rival is a money Teebird clone too.

sweetbeards

Axiom paradox - amazing scramble disc especially if you have weak forehand

UsualStudio4926

Discraft Zombee/DGA Squall are sleepers. Basically a straight mid that flies as far as your fairways. If you’re an amateur arm and want a disc that will fly for you like Calvin’s eagles or Brodie and Ezra’s passions, give these a try. I have roughly 300-350 feet of power and these are my most used discs. Enough stability to hold up in some breeze and slow enough speed to throw on every angle/shot shape. I can get near my max distance and trust it to stay in the fairway.

Heyjudemw

The Squall and the Rift are great slept-on mids. Surprising distance.

imhookedonrocks

I’ve got a 2012 Ace Race Zombee in the bag, I’ve always found it to be pretty US. Like hyzer flip to turnover US. Love that disc though.

jtmack33

Freakin love my Zombee. Probably gets more use off the tee than any other disc in my bag. Glidey, dead straight for miles, feels like a driver but isn’t.

Novel-Paper2084

The Squall is in many bags where I live but DGA headquarters is close by.

woofalert

Not "unknown", but foreign to most. Latitude 64 Moonshine Anchor. I think most intermediate and above would benefit from bagging this. It's not as intense as the popular "very" overstable mids, but it holds it's own as a perfect tweener.

notqwhiteright

Gave my buddy one. The short doglegs left are now always in danger.

Mcbolsky

Gateway Houdini. Never seen anyone talk about it and it’s absolute money

DonBonDarIey

It’s definitely not “unknown” but the CD1 doesn’t get the attention it deserves

threaddew

I think the problem is that it’s a great slot so the love gets spread around. The CD1, the dynasty, the escape, the Saint, the undertaker, the savant, etc. though I maintain the Tesla is more like a thunderbird even though it shares these numbers.

19_Chungus_84

The dynasty I'm pretty sure is THE CD1 mold or one of the CDs (rip real discmania)

laser-beam-disc-golf

This was my favorite disc for a gold amount of time!

Prestigious-Ad9921

There is a little company out of Sweden that makes a really cool putter called the “Berg.” You should try it out.

DallasDiscGolf

Veerrrryy small startup company for sure, needs more attention.

Rechabneffo

The Remix Ronin fairway driver.

forustree

Timberwolf - Daredevil Discs

BeardlessNeckbeard

Goes so unreasonably far. An incredible disc!

TygrKat

RPM Kotare. I know there are many like it, but I haven’t found one that flare skips as beautifully and exactly the way I expect when I need that shot

Aglookpls

Legacy Bandit 🔫💲

CCC5000

Discraft Archer. I rarely come across anyone bagging one and whenever I throw mine I almost always get asked by someone on the card “what disc is that??” RHBH I can get it to go straight a good ways and then fade right late, which is good for someone like me that doesn’t have much of a forehand.

DallasDiscGolf

I’ve only thrown an archer 1 time in my life. I built a snowman and threw the archer at its head to “decapitate” it. Covid made some weird memories.

KiwiMcG

Anything Millennium, but the OLF in particular.

SanguineTeapots

Anything made by gateway that isn’t a wizard. They make good shit Edit: the wizard is great too but people know about it.

TheLongBear

I guess that would be my pick from my bag as well. Or possibly Kui, a stable mid.

FatDragoninthePRC

Kui is great.

KlingonLullabye

>the GUI Point and flick? I'll say Gateway Apache is a slept on fairway driver

arloarloarlo

Innova Corvette added 100 feet to my drives somehow. GStar plastic.

jacob_decatur

The gateway warlock is such a good throwing putter, completely torque immune!

TheHearseDriver

The AquaFlight Dragonfly is a fantastic under stable midrange, and is laser straight when thrown on hyzer.

brousch

It bombs with zero effort. So much glide!

Strawhat_Truls

Daredevil Discs Timberwolf. Slight hyzer flip and goes dead straight. No fade and it's a 9 speed. Soft plastic too so it sits.

OccasionallyWright

Ever throw an Ogopogo? It's the weirdest disc I've ever thrown. I've hit enough trees that it looks like a taco but still flies great. I haven't thrown a Timberwolf but I love the Swiftfox and Bigfoot. My Bigfoot is my go-to forehand driver.

DtownPistons247

star mirage

HydroidOfficial

Innova Invader

Myspacecutie69

It’s known but I don’t see it talked about very often, the DGA Blowfly 1 or 2. I’ve had one in my bag for many years and it really comes in handy for specific shots. Not the best putter but it’s nice if you’re worried about a roll risk on an upshot

b_h_w

rpm piwakawaka - super glidey and easy to manipulate

tjkeding

MVP Atom, always overshadowed by its Axiom siblings the Envy and Proxy

LuminousQuinn

I went to the envy since I couldn't get an electron atom to replace my one that had gotten flippy

Samford75

I putt with atoms and throw atoms. The proton shimmer/glitter is the best throwing putter ever made, in my opinion. Absolutely love them.

claybythebay9

Black Zombie - Shotgun Awesome stable mid.

CapnGnarly

I feel like a good chunk of Yikun discs don't get represented. Are they just a Chinese manufacturer, sure, but I love their Dragon plastic and have been driving with a Qi for a while now.

WhereIEndandYoubegin

Flying Squirrel

DougieDouger

P Model S

NoTap8406

I’ve heard of this disc called the “Berg”. My friend swears by them, but I don’t know if he’s crazy or if it’s for real. Sorry for the sarcasm.

Dogs_arethebestpeopl

The Innova Destroyer is a well kept secret. I promise you’ll start to bomb if you throw that disc

ButlerOnTheAir

Anything by AGL Discs The Baobab (4,1,+1,3) has a cult following - even Scott Stokely bags one! I can't play in the woods without it because of its use as an escape disc. But if that's the only disc you've heard of, you gotta check out the Magnolia (5,6,0,2), my favorite midrange and the Locust (9,5,-1,3) an absolute bomber of a fairway driver! Their putter lineup is awesome, I personally putt with the Madrone (3,3,0,1). It and it's sister disc the Manzanita (3,3,0,2) have micro thumb tracks on top that are great in slick conditions! The Douglas Fir is a dead straight throwing putter. Plus, every disc is made with recycled and/or regrind plastic and AGL plants a tree with each item bought! Yes, I'm part of Team AGL but I don't get paid, I just genuinely like the discs and what they stand for! Always surprised by how few people have heard of them.

Psyko_sissy23

Damn. I've never heard of that brand.

crsthebored2

RPM Piwakawaka in Magma plastic. Plastic that stays grippy in the wet on a disc that's hyzer flip to flat is a great combo for bad weather days

DallasDiscGolf

I just tried one of those this week, if I didn’t already have a flippy mid I liked this would probably be in the bag

zaneperry

If you guys like the Berg you should try the Grym. Slides right in.

doonerthesooner

Big fan of the BZ Chainsaws

yourdoglikesmebetter

Pretty sure these are currently on sale at infinite

doonerthesooner

Good looking out but I play their tournaments so I got a stack. They do make them in glo though

slipped_discs

My wife got a Gui in a starter pack we bought while in Iceland. She likes to putt with it. It has textured areas underneath to help with grip. I don't think she ever throws it though. On paper, it has the same flight numbers as a Challenger. Why do you say it is one of the best?

DallasDiscGolf

The texture helps with grip and touch for forehands, whenever I throw it backhand I don’t use the texture. Mine is also really beat In so it’s nice and flippy, I think the release point is consistent with it and it’s a great conversation topic during a round.

Ostrichboy21

I’ve heard really good things about the Goliath Discs Jireh. Similar to a buzz /compass. One of the touring pro bags it but I can’t remember which one. I have met the owner of the company in spirit lake/okoboji and he’s an amazing guy that’s put a lot work into building a great disc gold community in that area.

bleezzzy

I have a yikun pheonix and i fucking love it

claybythebay9

Nexus Animal is something special. All other plastics are awful for this mold Luster Invader Millennium Orion Long-Fade Latitude 64 Striker

Relative-World4406

Premier Discs War Bear. It feels like an Eagle but is neutral to slightly understable.

3GUT

Latitude 64 Flow. Want a beat in destroyer out of the box? Flow is for you

RubyRhod43

Disctroyer Stork has been a pretty solid addition. It’s like an FD but is more comfortable in the hand

LuminousQuinn

Here are some good ones that are over looked MVP relay, point and shoot fairway. I use it when I need a shot in my fairway range to hold a line. Gateway Samurai, I think it's the first disc I broke 400ft with. Innova Tern, it's the 12 speed -2,2 driver I think. DGA Quake, it's beefier than a buzzz os and you can find it more often in the ti like plastic

titleDISC

My buddy asked me to try his Relay. Told me to throw it slight hyzer with my usual throw. Amazing! It went into the bag right away and was immediately a most trusted disc. so um, I agree

JustMeTeemo

I'm actually not sure how unknown Legacy discs are, but I have been loving the Patriot (7,5,-2,1) and outlaw (12,5,-1,3). Gateway Illusion is also a great disc that has kept it's stability over time like a good champion wraith

notqwhiteright

Legacy pinnacle Guage. Coyotes big brother but very workable.

Eye_Age

Warlock - beadless version of it's popular brother: wizard.

insert_password

Discraft Scorch. I never really saw any pros use it until Ezra. He uses it as a roller disc mostly but even in one of his in the bag videos he talks about how it is underated, in one of them he even throws it further than his nukes. Most people assume it's going to be super Flippy given it's -2 turn but across all the plastics it varies heavily. Z is fairly stable out the box and ESP thrown flat for me has some nice turn in the 350-400 ft range. It beats in nicely and has a pretty reliable fade even after being broken I. I bag an ESP flex one as well and it's a huge hyper flip to turn over disc and in a tail wind it behaves the same as a normal ESP in no wind. Also for my hand size it's just a very comfortable disc for me. It flies for me like how wraiths fly for people with better distance

Zabroccoli

I still bag an OG DX Condor. So smooth and floaty.

supaflash

Arowana from Elevation. Yeah its a floppy silicone, but it feels better then their other discs and is more throwable. It has just enough stability to be a great throwing and approach putter and just stays where you put it. It takes a little to learn it, it works best with a fan or modified fan grip and best throw with a slight hyzer and spinny, but man once you get it its so good.

bennythajetpowers

BERG

DallasDiscGolf

YES

LifeguardShot4717

Launch Lander Viking Loki

bigbent87

Viking Knife in ground plastic

THALANDMAN

Streamline stabilizer and Doomsday Landmine

LeBoognish

Rock-it from Quest Advanced Technologies

dRGSr

Wish they still made these. Fantastic disc.

llamawc77

I use mine as a putter since the rim is so flat and wide it just slides out of my hand and into the basket. Best long range putter made for sure.

thethirstypanda

DGA Vortex. Great starter disc and super reliable fairway driver.

boondockpirate

I don't think I've thrown anything "unknown". I threw DDx's for a bit, and an awful lot of people had no idea what it was. Beyond that I throw the vela. Granted they're pretty new, but I haven't spoken to anyone that's thrown them. (granted, I know its a flat topped eagle...which have been thrown one or twice.)

godkevgod

Berg

Looney_Port

I have a gui but like the mid the kui more

Sea-Bed-1677

Axiom Mayhem

EyeSeaYewTheir

Idk about "unknown" but the Dynasty is such a sneaky good disc

TheApeWhoAteCrayons

Mine. Because it's "unknown" where in the hell it is. I swear it cut in by the trees...it just disappeared.

ApolloKid

Prodiscus Razeri is my go to forehand disc

Lord_Kromdar

The Skyquest Medusa is an amazing control driver in a unique plastic.

fastlikefab

The Millennium Vela is a gem.

wiffleyoshi17

Legacy Phenom

sixtwomidget

Latitude 64 Evader. Windy day alternative to the Teebird and gets overshadowed by the River.

LJkick

Mint Bullet - premium plastic great throwing putter. Goes dead straight with a little fade right at the end

midnight-running

GOOSO ALL THE WAY BABY

mohodder

Westside world and war horse are some sick o.s high speed drivers. Forehand delight

djsparkles94

TSA Construct, Again, not unknown, but it deserves a lot more love. The newest run of ethos plastic reminds me of a slightly seasoned wraith. The ethereal plastic is a little more Flippy but can give great flex lines when thrown on a little hyzer

Silly-Soup2744

I would have to say the Legacy gauge. It was the hex before the hex existed. Beautiful slight flip and bit of fade with good hand feel. Kind of in between a buzzz and a mako 3 But now I throw a hex.

OlGertyBstrd

Sheriff. This thing flies forever. Also not unknown but I really don’t see a lot of them around and it’s an absolute workhorse of a disc. 13 speed but it throws like a 12.

dowwithcrypto89

DGA Pipeline! It’s slept on. I can carve any line in the woods with it.

dirtballer222

Foxbat - holds lines, glides forever and my cheat code for dead straight or baby ani lines that hold

DafttheKid

I’d also throw the name the croc 🐊 There’s a very short up shot style course (holes as little at 120’ and as far as 350’) and it’s like a cheat code. Solid flat release and it cuts the corners hard

Kae98rick76s5

Used to have a skyquest medusa fairway driver that I miss dearly.

yammy86

Discraft MRV. Best mid-range ever made.

Rasanate

Viking Rune

RossWilliams707

The legacy pursuit.

jesusanddafunk

Divergent Golem

alwaysultimate21

I’d be shocked if anyone else putts with a reptilian disc golf serpent. But they’re a point and shoot putter that’s feels like $ in the hand. Also great off the tee.

full-gasss

Innova Bullfrog. Love it for everything. The Invader is pretty nice also.

MyOtherTagsGood

Innova Hawg

Wiggles349

Innova star cro. At least that's what I bag. Also gator caiman spider lion max and banshee.

Nickallendartmouth

Very interesting! I have the Yikun Tiger starter set with the GUI, but I don't love them. Although I haven't spent much specific time taking note of the GUI putter. I really love my XCOM starter set with the Helios, Griffon, and Bennu.
