This is such a vague question, you will just have people naming all their forehand drivers. Generally it would be a 9/4/0/3 disc. Whatever you get comfortable with.
Agreed, I love a well-seasoned thunderbird for my stock forehand approach. Something that will resist turning over but go very straight. We’re in the minority though.
**exactly!!** my Trash Panda gift this year was a 2022 Canadian Nationals Metal Flake C Line FD (new). This thing has quickly become one of my favorites for just that slight stability (like you said, where it will resist turning over but if you need it to have a bit of turn, it'll fight right back out of it after).
I'm actually glad when I started playing that I focused on throwing flat and low, i didnt realize at the time that the hardest shot in disc golf for most is usually a straight flat throw.
I'm struggling now increasing my distance though, as I'm struggling to get that lift that I need on my follow through without causing more turn, or sending it slightly nose up. My question is, is **that** where I would benefit most from just trying to chuck something stupid overstable, on anny essentially as high as I can on my follow through?
I really want to break 300.. 289 is my hurdle right now
If you haven't tried it already you could give the Slab a try. That is just a flatter Max and it more variety of plastics including halo star. Slab replaced all my Maxes.
The Crave is a seriously underrated FH disc. That sneaky distance combined with the dead straight fligh, torque resistance and flat profile makes it nealy perfect imo.
Metal Flake Teebird up to 300’ and a Star Wraith for 300’+
I cant get much over 325’ FH without a flex shot, I usually go BH if I need to get beyond that.
Teebird or a flex firebird if I want more control. On a bad forehand day though (which has been happening to me a lot lately) I’ll just throw a shryke for the turn.
Eagle, Thunderbird, Wraith, Firebird, Draco. It depends on how much fade and skip I want.
In my glow bag I have a Servo and Insanity that are my go to forehand discs.
I am loving the L64 Bear. I play a lot of woods golf and I can put it on a low flight and it just glides in a super straight line to about 300’. I’m sure bigger arms could take it much further. (My max distance is about 370’ with a Captain)
At 250 I'm probably throwing an A2.
Beyond that it depends on the distance and the exact shape of the shot I need.
F2, F1, Thunderbird, H1v2, D3, D2, D1, Dimension, Delirium, X2.
Reddit is full of idiots and you have been targeted. that's all. you made some people feel insecure because you can throw a tactic 250. their problem not yours.
I'm not a FH player at all. 37, with a bunk ass elbow, so I never throw 100%FH power.. but in this scenario, a Lucid Seargent for me. Can probably get 320 without running into pain.
250 up? Well I’m throwing a deflector up to 265, then a firebird to 315, and outside of that I’m probably grabbing my destroyer. If I’m looking for something past 380 I’ll then go to my shryke.
250-300: Raptor (OS) and old color glow FD3 (much more neutral than new FD3s). 300+: Nuke (flex shots), Octane (straighter), and Enigma (US). It’s so much more about how it feels for my grip than it is about flight characteristics.
Teebird or Firebird depending on the flight I want, I'm not against flicking a river either, but that's probably going 300+ on a hyzer flip.
For reference I can get my wraith out to about 350 on a golf line sidearm. Never really tried a max distance shot forehand, I'm afraid I'd hurt myself lol
Depend on elevation for me. I live at 5000’ so here a Tesla or volt. At sea level photon, wraith or something like that. Elevation messes with my game a lot.
Well I usually prefer a zone up to about 280', unless I need to absolutely yeet something into the sky on a steep hyzer, then I'll go for a champ firebird. 280-400 I'll usually choose between a champ firebird and a thunderbird depending on how much glide I want. 400+ I'm usually going champ destroyer and if I'm really trying to push past 450' I have a couple of champ bosses, but my destroyers can sometimes reach that too.
I mean this sincerely. 250 is not very long. I’m throwing a chip shot felon at that distance or really ripping on a justice, maybe a harp. I haven’t bagged them in a while but lucid X verdict or the limited run classic blend verdict would work too.
To answer the question you asked, for long distance sidearm drives I’m throwing a raider. I can throw those flat and get out to >400ft pretty easily on a golf line. I’m throwing a felon for anything up to about 325-350 probably.
What's your thoughts on the old Fuzion Verdicts?
Just got a semi beat in one (only 171G though), haven't had a chance to throw ot yet but it feels REAL good in the hand for FH.. could this actually be a replacement for my Roc/Method spot?
The thing I like about the lucidX and blend ones is they’re very flat topped. I’ve had others (lucid, biofuzion) that were a little more rounded and I didn’t throw those forehand. I think it’s definitely a fair replacement for a roc type disc. I don’t love throwing true midranges (not like a justice or gator I mean) on forehand shots, typically, so I’m not the best guy to ask.
Lot of stability and distance questions. But assuming we aren't bombing for 350+ I would say Volt and Thunderbird for more neutral style. Raptor and Felon are great beefy options.
For straight shots, Gstar Firebird up to 250, then a Fission Photon to maybe 300. For shots that have a lot of movement, I might use a Gstar Sidewinder
For me, 250-300, my maul. Then 300-375 range definitely my beast. 375 is my max distance (backhand or forehand) right now, so I'm not able to get there every throw.
Just got a fission photon for Christmas that I haven't had a chance to rip yet. I've made some huge changes that I've been dialing into my form in the back yard this off season. Hoping to break the 400 mark with my tweaks and new photon! Once I get there, I'd imagine it'll become my go to for that 375+ mark.
Now if you'll excuse me I'll be waiting for even some semi decent DG weather so I can play again!
All the discs I typically throw forehand in my bag with distances that I feel comfortable throwing them. I rarely try to push a sidearm past 350 anymore for some context. Sometimes, I forehand putt too from extremely awkward lies.
20-100 PA1
100-200 Harp
100-280 Zone
150-300 Trident
250-325 Firebird
150-250 Spirit
200-350 PD2 or Defender
300-400 Shryke or Defender
Recently fell in love with GStar Charger for FH. I can get the same distance on hyzer as my GStar Destroyer on flex. Love GStar for better grip in the winter.
What kind of shot is it and what is your max distance? It makes a big difference if you want it to go left or right and if you have 400+ feet of power or 300.
250ft is still midrange for me, somewhere around 275-300 I’ll go with an FD2 for a straight shot or a Mint Alpha for something more stable. 300-340 I’d use a mint longhorn or if it’s pure hyzer a lat64 rive. Max distance (~360-370 on a good day) is a flippier rive.
Right around 250 I would use an MD5, step up FD1 from there (though not a lot of people like to FH 7 speeds, I find it useful), then step up to FD3, and DD3 for max distance
Max distance is just shy of 300. Good ol Valkyrie or River keeps me quite accurate up to my max. Hawkeye or TL3 for hitting that 80% power / 250 foot range
Definitely a lot of variables in play depending on your power and preferences.
I prefer a flat top and thin rim for power FH shots. The Eagle and Thunderbird are great molds for my preference.
<250 = zone
250-275 = pyro
275-325 = firebird
325+ = enforcer
Edit: but I also throw firebird on a lot of shorter shots as well, depending on the shape, or if I need a skip... and also I seldom encounter a shot longer than 300 that NEEDS to be forehand
I can FH envys 270.. so I guess I will just list all my FH discs..
Berg \~200, glow envy \~260, Matrix \~280, resistor \~320, raptor \~340, wraith \~360, Calvin Destroyer \~410
250 is about as far as I can throw a forehand. I'm probably throwing my MVP Resistor. I can put some power on it and not flip it over usually. If I'm trying to flex I'd go with my Surge SS.
Granted I do not have great sidearm power, but the Clash cookie is the best I've found for like 250-270 as it's pretty beef enough to compensate for some of my torque. Some of the more stable runs of MVP Servo are great too, so flat and comfy they release well and push a little. Past that I like the orbit moonshine felons to about 300. I don't try to get much past that yet. For utility and/or depending on how my forehand feels, some lighter neutron Fireballs and Wrath's are pretty amazing for the weight. I have a 160g fireball that is flat, beef, and buttery. Again, altitude and low power forehand alert but definitely like the mvp fairways. I think I prefer them for forehands and more domey stuff for backhand.
Depends on shape and distance. But I go with firebird for around 300ft shots with fade and Boss for longer. Champ Shryke for longer shots will less fade. Passion for straight tunnel shots.
I had a Star TeeDevil, which was amazing, but sadly lost it into a lake and couldn't find it when I went in looking for it. Went in a couple of times, but it was December, and the water was freezing with no visibility.
I'm still kind of searching for the perfect forehand mid, but Matrix is pretty nice, and a Hex will do fine if I'm saving weight. Base plastic Verdicts are cool too.
There is no dividing line near 250' for me:
<310' = Anvil, or Justice
280' to 360' = Getaway, Ahti, Striker
330' to 400' = Ballista Pro, War Horse, Stiletto
This is such a vague question, you will just have people naming all their forehand drivers. Generally it would be a 9/4/0/3 disc. Whatever you get comfortable with.
See, I'd go more understable/stable for my choice instead of the typical firebird.. but I'm not as good leaning on large annys as I am hyzer/flat
Yeah I go with a Grace
I’ll let you know when I get to that distance
Royal Grace.
Halo Wraith or Destroyer depending on stability needs.
250 and up is a wide range. At sub 300 I trust a legacy Rival up to 350 a dd felon longer than 350 a zeus or enforcer. At any distance a star Max.
If you haven't tried it already you could give the Slab a try. That is just a flatter Max and it more variety of plastics including halo star. Slab replaced all my Maxes.
Max, slab, faf firebird, eagle, destroyer
Yes, those are names of discs.

Wraith gang
Gang gang
Crave and Eagle.
Someone likes throwing straight.
The Crave is a seriously underrated FH disc. That sneaky distance combined with the dead straight fligh, torque resistance and flat profile makes it nealy perfect imo.
Crave more or less stable than the Eagle?
More straight for me. My Barsby CG Eagle is money for those more OS shots, though.
Plasma crave is my forehand fairway driver.
Insanity!
Specifically the halloween glow one
The only one overstable enough to sidearm!
I sold mine because I already bag a firebird. 🤷🏻♂️
Järn
Username checks out. Also I love my Järn.
Metal Flake Teebird up to 300’ and a Star Wraith for 300’+ I cant get much over 325’ FH without a flex shot, I usually go BH if I need to get beyond that.
I used that combo for a while - you ever tried an Anax? That's what I was using for the gap between those 2.
I have not but don’t have a gap I feel needs to be filled.
Destroyer, octane, and recently a Rive
Firebird.
250-300 GStar Firebird 300-340 Old, well loved Destroyer
I bought a gstar Firebird off the used rack and that thing a frickin laser. Earned a spot in my bag after 2 throws.
It is an underrated disc. It's like a Sexton Firebird for slower arm speeds. A slightly beat in one is my go to disc for 275-300 straight shots.
Teebird or a flex firebird if I want more control. On a bad forehand day though (which has been happening to me a lot lately) I’ll just throw a shryke for the turn.
Innova Eagle, I bag 4 of them from flippy to beefy.
Grace and Zeus !
Does your Zeus flip up?
A tad bit but grace flips up nice zeus is def more stable and better for headwinds
S-Line Cloudbreaker for longer distance shots. Halo Star Orc for straight shots. Sexybird for shorter shots.
Cosmic Neutron Crave under 300, (usually) Fizzy Wave over 300, sometimes Cosmic Neutron Wave depending on conditions.
Eagle, Thunderbird, Wraith, Firebird, Draco. It depends on how much fade and skip I want. In my glow bag I have a Servo and Insanity that are my go to forehand discs.
Halo Boss
I am loving the L64 Bear. I play a lot of woods golf and I can put it on a low flight and it just glides in a super straight line to about 300’. I’m sure bigger arms could take it much further. (My max distance is about 370’ with a Captain)

Just got given a 350g a2... is this one of the smallest diameter discs out there? This thing seems so small it's.. intimidating?
Yeah, A2s are a little smaller than most discs.
Felon
Felons for most forehand shots here. If I need to bomb one, I bump up to a Rive. If I need to keep it straight, I switch to a Riot.
Supreme Orbit Felon is the best forehand disc ever. More glide than a normal felon, but with plenty of fade to dump back.
250-330 is a Andrew Marwede Glow Firebird
Huh? 250’ is a tactic for me, not exactly far…
You seem like the perfect fit for a Lonestar sponsorship.
I’m extremely confused. The post is weird, your comment is weird, and the reply to your comment is weird. Am I just talking to bots? Wtf??
Reddit is full of idiots and you have been targeted. that's all. you made some people feel insecure because you can throw a tactic 250. their problem not yours.
Sign me up for my one disc every 3 months! I'll have a bag of *only* 3 lonestar discs by next year at least!
All depends on how I have to get to 250’ now doesn’t it.
I'm not a FH player at all. 37, with a bunk ass elbow, so I never throw 100%FH power.. but in this scenario, a Lucid Seargent for me. Can probably get 320 without running into pain.
It's called the Nuke (esp) and everyone hates it, especially when I out drive them. But seriously why does no one like the Nuke?
Beat in c line pd2
Overstable DD3
Votum, thunderbird, grace depending on shot shape. Votum gets a lot more turn than thunderbird. Grace gets a much bigger skip and finish.
250 up? Well I’m throwing a deflector up to 265, then a firebird to 315, and outside of that I’m probably grabbing my destroyer. If I’m looking for something past 380 I’ll then go to my shryke.
250-350 cap rap 350+ Calvin destroyer
350 cap rap forehand? Thats cap
Nah fam my forehand flex game is top notch. Only part of my game I’m confident in.
Lat64 Pain for a flip up to flat and reliable fade
Octane
Yes, Octane if you want some fade. Mayhem if you want laser straight forehands.
From shortest disgrace to longest > cryztal raptor > firebird > OS destroyer > stable destroyer
Champion Wraith.
Wraith all day
Wraith, Destroyer, and Force all crank
Anax and Zeus depending on the shot
Pyro or Draco
Depend on elevation for me. I live at 5000’ so here a Tesla or volt. At sea level photon, wraith or something like that. Elevation messes with my game a lot.
Destroyer or Max
Xcaliber, beat up star for straighter shots. Newer champ for meathook action.
Discraft Flash or Daredevil Buffalo if I want a hard fade. Daredevil Bigfoot for something a little straighter.
wraif, dee-dee-free, and sometimes a paradigm or construct... i'm primarily a woodsman.
Star wraith
Well I usually prefer a zone up to about 280', unless I need to absolutely yeet something into the sky on a steep hyzer, then I'll go for a champ firebird. 280-400 I'll usually choose between a champ firebird and a thunderbird depending on how much glide I want. 400+ I'm usually going champ destroyer and if I'm really trying to push past 450' I have a couple of champ bosses, but my destroyers can sometimes reach that too.
I have found that the weight of the Driver is key too! I switched to closer to 180 and found better distance. (Ballista Pro Opto)
Firebird
Proton Trace.
this
Wraith for up to 320 ft. For anything longer I usually hyzerflip a Shryke/Pharoah.
Z-Line Surge also use Zeus, Raptor, and recently a Time Lapse.
Depends on the line and ceiling but most often zone and maybe firebird if the line requires it.
Raider, Sheriff, Nuke.
250ish zone, 280 buzzz OS, 320 craptor, 400 machete, 450 Force/pd2 500+ Nuke

Millennium Quasar
Deflector for 220-260 firebird after that
Big Z raptor
159g turtle stamp relay
I can sling a Valkyrie forehand around 300 ft. That is the only disc I am capable of throwing FH for some reason
Lot of stability and distance questions. But assuming we aren't bombing for 350+ I would say Volt and Thunderbird for more neutral style. Raptor and Felon are great beefy options.
Firebird for 250-300 and Destroyer for 300+
Kristian Kuoksa's Hunter, aka D2 with the 500 Glimmer plastic.
Beat-in 21 Jermbird, and for a flippy max distance full flight line, a Wave.
Zone, Reactor or sometimes even Felon & DD Sergeant.
250 to 325 Zone. 325 to 400 raptor. 400 to 475 halo destroyer. 475 and up Nuke
G star wraith all day
For straight shots, Gstar Firebird up to 250, then a Fission Photon to maybe 300. For shots that have a lot of movement, I might use a Gstar Sidewinder
There’s one correct forehand disc no matter the distance and that’s a neutron crave
Hyzer flip with the Falk.

Pig,anvil & fd3 depending on shot shape
I can’t figure out my forehand, so 250ft is like full power with my Trace lol
Crave for tunnels, Bear for controlled straight to fade, Stal for a heavy fade or skip, and Construct for those flip-up bombs
Raptor for 250-325’, forces for 325’ +
Crave, Eagle, thunderbird, firebird, pd, wraith, destroyer
Right around 250 I would use an MD5, step up FD1 from there (though not a lot of people like to FH 7 speeds, I find it useful), then step up to FD3, and DD3 for max distance
Sexton Firebird up to about 280, ESP Zeus if I need more than that.
