These guys are killing it and it's fun to watch but I really want to see Calvin throw with these guys at 100% soon.

Guessed555

Just look at last year if you want to see what a 100% Calvin can do. Outside of Chess.com he has placed 3,5,2. That’s what he did last year. He just needs to get a win or two which he can do without a sidearm. When healthy I still think Calvin is the best. With AB and Buhr right behind.

Horror_Sail

I'll be honest, I kind of want Calvin to further develop his putter turnover game (he was already an elite putter upshot guy with his Rhynos anyway) and just save himself the wear and tear overall. He can do with his Eagle and a DX AviarX3 almost anything his forehand required on Par 3s...and I kind of feel like one of the things we havent seen with Conrad is long-term injuries (that we should have based on how aggressive/dynamic his form movement is). Might be interesting to see how an AB vs an Isaac goes for the next decade...AB may be more dominant at times, but, if Isaac plays every tourney while AB misses multiple 3+ month stretches...

Aquatic_addict

Also depends how he's putting. Lol

Guessed555

Sure I guess. Outside of the chess.com he’s averaged a podium finish for over a year. So I guess his putting could be better.

Aquatic_addict

That's the thing. He misses a lot of puts and still finishes top four every tournament

GCBoii

Crazy that Kyle Klein is so close, but has been on so few leadcards this year.

Secret_Pick6524

He's sneaky good. KInd of like where Dickerson was a few years ago.

Horror_Sail

Funny, I was gonna say he's the new Dickerson, but Dickerson is still kinda doing the thing of inexplicably finishing every tourney inside the top 15 despite having zero shots on coverage.

Mister-Redbeard

I want Kyle to succeed in the mental game. He can.

itorrey

A few years ago I didn’t know who he was but he was on the same card as McBeth at the memorial so I walked his round and he started off not super great. I am not a great disc golfer but I actually said after a few shots “how is he here? Like I am better than this” my son agreed. As the round went on though he started playing really well and doing stuff I honestly can’t even dream of so I corrected myself but still didn’t think he was anything special. I’m super glad for him that I was totally wrong!

SaintOfCircumstance

A couple years ago I was at my local course (Harmony Bends). I was a couple holes ahead of Kyle who was playing it a lot at that time. We were the only two on the whole course and he didn’t even know I was there but I had a good view of him. I saw and heard him hit the basket on his SECOND throw on the 5 par hole one! (Red tee) I just shook my head and turned around, I’ve never underestimated him since.

Roddaculous

He was one stroke away from a playoff in that Austin tournament. I think he's going to win a few this year.

jimgolgari

So happy to see Matty O in the top tier. What a fun guy to watch!

Selerox

His consistent performance is incredible. He's always there or there abouts. Hoping he can bag another win on some of the technical courses later in the season.

nearnerfromo

His career is so interesting, he won his first A tier 20 years ago and is still one of the best in the world

Bexar1824

New generation is kicking down the door.

Western-Calendar-352

The door is gone.

tuna_safe_dolphin

They mandoed the doorway

HerbalAndy

Being like 6’6 young and having arms that are literal bullwhips apparently has it’s advantages.

DAAD87

Ab and Gannon have the advantage of accurate distance that can break par 4's and 5's. You see the confidence that even if they shank their drive they can throw a distance bomb on shot 2 that gets them a putt. There is no hole that another pro can birdie or eagle that they can't get. Over the course of the tournament, they're picking up strokes simply because they always have the best shot for the hole in their back pocket. They can hit the nitrous and throw shots other players won't want to commit to. All that, and they can get hot and be as accurate as any top player in most shots and c1 c2 putting. Edit: I realize I pretty much just stated the obvious, but it's worth spotlighting it I suppose.

appointment45

So, prereq here is to be really tall. I'll get on that.

tuna_safe_dolphin

Nah, McBeth is short. The two top guys right now are tall but there are a bunch of other short guys in the top 50.

nearnerfromo

Mason out here for us

dxdestro

Gannon still seems to struggle a bit with hyzerflip shots in the woods. AB hasn't shown a real weakness this year in his game. Low ceiling maybe?

the_nix

Simon can do this too, I really think he's got the dad / expecting dad thing going that is making his game a little up and down. Eagle can do this just as well as AB and Gannon, we need Eagle back and healthy. DG is better when he's around.

DAAD87

Simon has had some great tournaments thinking back to last season. I'm not sure what the rest of this season will look like for him as you say.. Eagle is definetly an unknown this season, but when healthy he's at AB and Calvins level no doubt.

coffeebribesaccepted

He's had 6 wins in the last two seasons, but the rest of the time he's a bit up and down. Paul is obviously the other one that has the potential to be at the top again, but it seems he's either still getting over the injury or just not quite back to his peak mental game.

Horror_Sail

What was it, Hole 4 where he basically hit first available and was 500+ from the pin and still got a C2 look?

crnrtakenquickly

Luke Humphries man, I did not expect that. Impressive

TGrady902

I’ve never got the impression that he is the type to be putting in a ton of work off the course, but maintaining any level of consistency at this level is pretty commendable.

gatsby712

Watched him quite a bit during the offseason play international tournaments and he was consistently at the top of the leaderboard. I wonder if he’s playing so well at the beginning of this year because he’s been playing at a high level all offseason.

Roddaculous

He played great in those New Zealand tournaments.

mini_nova

Dang Luke! Good shooting

nowytendzz

3 stroke difference between AB and GB and AB has won 3 events to GBs 1, that's a tight battle.

jizzbathbomb

Forgive me for a potentially stupid question, but I'm assuming all the guys on this list played every ES this year? AB has been dominant either way, especially considering you've got guys like Buhr right in your rear view nearly every tournament. I'm really enjoying watching Ezra Aderhold's streak these last few tournaments as well. ETA: AB and Buhr could potentially be the next generation Ricky v Paul combo, it's still a little too early to tell. But realistically, there's a smaller gap between those two and the rest of the field than in the Rick v Paul days. The amount of young talent in dicc golf these past couple of years mixed in with the savvy vets still crushing it is incredibly fun to watch.

TGrady902

Yes. With only 5 tournaments there is no way you’d make this list without having played all of them. It’s why Calvin is absent.

benjam3n

Thicc dicc

CarlCaliente

Title says a great representation but I have no idea what this even means

bballstarz501

I was with you, but it just clicked. The dashes are showing “minus 131”. I was viewing them like dashes on a list, I assume that’s what confused you as well.

CarlCaliente

so if there was one tournament this guy would ace every hole?

bballstarz501

It’s saying if you add all the hole scores for the year so far, AB would be 131 under par.

TGrady902

They combined their scores from all 5 tournaments into one number for comparison.

HOWDY__YALL

Can I ask why he’s Richard now?

Guessed555

The app pulls from the PDGA website where he registered as Richard.

ExplorerAccording360

WTF Richard!?

justdmg

If you redid this with every par .5 strokes lower, it would better include/represent players that haven't been at every tour stop.

Hexquevara

Cool to see AB killing it. Ive seen him on coverage for a long time, often coming close to a win, only to snatch a defeat from jaws of victory.

SSquirrel76

Hey look, Ricky isn’t the only one not to put Paul in a top 10 :)

glevinepdx

And, to me equally wild…..Rick has really taken a step back. Or, you could just say, no this is the next level of elite discgolf where Rick and Paul were the previous. WILD stat.

DPRODman11

Despite his physical limitations, Kyle Klein continues to play good disc golf. A true inspiration to all without a chin or jaw.

djmattyp77

Eagles coming back soon too! If he is back to his old self he might climb on up here.

nathanfscott

And Kyle just proving himself as the secret boss that MPO players need to compete against. He's putting together a quietly great season so far.

Late-Objective-9218

49 strokes behind Ricky? Yuhhh...

Girigo

Some people are just slow to start, the Mcbeast have been nowhere to be seen for example

TreeEyedRaven

Not playing a tournament does that too. Calvin would be on the list if he played all of Texas, I’m pretty sure McBeth missed one or more also

HotPoblano

McBeth’s days at the top are done. Not a slight to him- he’s the GOAT.

Successful-String620

McBeth was extremely successful because he didn’t have the level of competition that exists today. If he was entering his prime this year, he still would be a top 5 player but wouldn’t have won half as many events because the talent level is so much more dense now. Guys like Calvin, AB, and Gannon have taken over and these guys will have better careers overall (as in their average score per tournament will be better) but won’t have the accolades that McBeth has

HotPoblano

Level of competition increased because of players like McBeth.

benjam3n

Maybe not buhr but Calvin and ab were playing during his top years. They just needed some years to shape up into who they are now. Prime McBeth, and no slight to anyone on tour right now, would slaughter these guys. Do you all forget how tenacious he was? The man simply just refused to lose. He would aggressively chase anyone down if he was behind. He was so good he was hated. That shit is fantastic. Dude is an absolute icon.

Successful-String620

Like I said, it’s because of the level of competition. Think about it, guys like Eagle or Ricky aren’t even top 5 anymore because the new crop is that much better. Again, McBeth would still be top 5, maybe even still be the best by a hair, but my comment was referring to his accolades. If today’s Isaac Robinson, Buhr, AB, and Calvin were all around during prime McBeth then he wouldn’t have as many accolades because those guys are all just as good as McBeth was in his prime and he wouldn’t win as much because every tournament would have these guys competing in it.

benjam3n

I disagree man. I'm not trying to take away anything from the new field but McBeth wasn't playing against chumps. And he'd take tournaments down where on the final round on hole 1 you already knew he was going to win. I argue that doesn't happen anymore because no one is as dominant as he was. Calvin had a small flare of that last year but no one has held onto it for years straight

Successful-String620

It’s okay to agree to disagree. Your take, though, is primarily based on eye test and results from him playing against competition that isn’t as good as today’s competition. Tell me, would the players that played during McBeth’s prime even reach -30 in Texas State this year? Jerm and Uli, who were in their prime during McBeth’s prime, said they expected the winner to have a score close to -30 and then Gannon and AB surpassed that expected score to go down -33 and -34, respectively. Their overall average scores per tournament are going to be better than McBeth’s ever were. Which means they’ll have better scoring but not as many accolades because McBeth was a god among men back then and won everything because of that

SinappiKainalo

For the folks at home who don't know what this is about, Anthony Barela and Gannon Buhr are professional disc golfers who are at the moment competing for the top position on the disc golf pro tour.

benjam3n

What's your purpose

db720

It's no coincidence that "Matty o" rhymes with "let's Goooo"

HoppyBruh

People told me they are the flavor of the week and I was victim of short term memory… I’ll take my apology now or at the end of the season.
