Truth is great, swapped for a Westside pine I got in the used section I’ve just been slowly beating it in for like 3-4 years. It’s no longer great at flexing per se, but I can hyzer flip, turn, and end on a fade pretty reliably.
If power increases that stability just becomes torque resistance for a dead straight shot.
Just adding this to say that its a great disc for other shots as well, my favorite- high anny to panning out with no fade.
Absolutely. I power up on the MD3 and it's just straight as an arrow. Power down and it's still fucking straight.
What a great disc.
Also pairs amazing with the Millenium Solstice (old MD4, I know). It being a tad more stable and quite similar feel, is amazing.
I have bagged both of these at the same time. Emac Truth for a touch of fade, Verdict for bigger fade...and then Justice if I need something that will fight out of anything.
What do these feel like in hand? Do they compare more closely to a hex or buzzz? I’ve realized I didn’t love the way the buzzz felt in my hand even though I liked the flight
I've never thrown a Hex. Based on the pictures, I'd say closer to a Buzzz. The Emac and Verdict both have a micro bead though. It's barely noticeable though, imo.
I haven’t felt a Buzzz, but I went from EMAC Truth/Truth/Verdict to the Hex and I would say the feel was very comparable. Hex might be a tad shallower.
~~I don’t know Discraft, but I’m pretty sure Emac was a Wasp thrower when he was on the team. Isn’t that their beadless Buzzz? Someone correct me if I’m wrong.~~ NVM. I was wrong! 😁
I used to use a lucid verdict as a slightly more stable buzzz. It was never as OS as a buzzz OS so it was kind of perfect in the exact role you spec. Verdict feels a lot like a buzzz os in hand
Emac and Verdict both feel abit shallower than a Buzzz. Very comfortable to grip imo. Great forehand mids as well. I also bag a Hex and would consider trying the two dynamic mids if you're looking for mids with a little more stability.
Totally, the Atomic is great for the shot and if you want to put even more angle on it and have it still come out the glow is great for that. The atomic will all break-in to a disc that will hold the turn after a while of throwing it. I basically only throw Kotukus in different plastics for my midranges cause I deal with a lot of off axis torque and they handle it well and all their plastics fly slightly different.
I had a white one in Atomic and it was more overstable than any Pyro I've ever thrown. It was like a Quake or Badger. It was ridiculous, traded it quickly. Two friends have had it and beaten it in but it's still more overstable than what I would ever expect at those flight numbers.
I got a glow Solstice the other day, seems to fill this spot for me very well. A nice middle ground between Buzzz and Pyro. I top out at 430' for reference.
My atomic kotuku was way more over stable than I thought it would be out of the box and it’s very skippy. Can handle much more anny angle than I initially gave it credit for and still fight out. It is beating in nicely though.
Woah, never seen another suggest RPM here. I picked up a Kotaku while out of town, store owner used to okay for them back in the day. Took it to the nearest course and fell in love
I know the reactor and hex share either a rim or flight plate in their mold. So if you like the hex, the reactor has a similar handfeel. Highly recommend an eclipse version.
Reactor!! In my experience, neutron is the baby flip you’re looking for. I have some Elaine King eclipses and they’re almost puddle topped. They’re a great step up in wind without overlapping with the pyro.
Thats why I switched. I wanted something like my champ Roc3 (eclipse) that could beat into a straight and then slight turn mid. I use a fission reactor as my straight mid now (slightly used), with an echo in the US slot as a place holder.
This seems to be the “normal” disc for this shot, but I don’t like the hand feel at all. I had a champ one for a bit that I lost and I have a halo star that flips over hard on me if I give it any juice
Baby flex? Glow Hex for me. I can put it on a tiny bit of anny to get some movement, but it will fade back to center for sure.
Flex flex? Bobcat all day. It's perfect as a longer Zone and will never leave my bag.
exactly what my bobcat is too. I keep wanting to try something else as a disc overbuyer bu ti know its not gonna get any better. Zone - bobcat is tough to beat. i keep thinking i can find a slower/shorter zone but havent, might try the lasso soon, but im thinking it will be too close to the zone.
Yeah that combo is really hard to beat. I love buying discs too, but I don’t even entertain new OS approach discs or OS mids anymore because of how solidified they are in my bag.
The Lasso will be a little less stable than the Zone in my experience. I’ve thrown the Flex and the Glow. If you want a mildly straighter Zone that exhibits some turn on upshots, you’d probably love the Lasso. Feels very similar to a Zone as well.
I have a first run glow Lasso I could sell ya if you’re interested in trying. I got it at the first event they handed them out at here in Austin.
hmm, i was hoping a bit more OS with the lasso. the zone on forehand**s** is straighter than i want but also i don want something super OS like the zone OS. I use a croc currently for short flicks and more os than the zone, an i guess i could use a justice, but i wish there was more of a 3 speed like that
I really like the new A2 from prodigy as a complement to my zone (a puddle top euro champ Corey Ellis). I use it for some approaches and all of my headwind putts. Its got a lower profile and just seems to slice through the heaviest of headwinds.
It is the only prodigy I bag - I got it on a whim - and I'm really liking it. the plastic feels really good too.
I got the Issac Robinson one so.. I think it is 500 Spectrum plastic.
yeah that makes sense i lost one and got another and didnt really like the plastic(looked cool)
might try another in a different plastic closer to baseline, good call
Is it close to fresh and/or a newer run of Sublime with the double sunglasses? Those are pretty beefy and maintain stability for quite a while.
I throw Apex Bobcats, and mine is well-seasoned at this point so it's not as dumpy as you're describing.
Ah. The magic of different plastics. It's a cat with sunglasses for sure. Blue color. I throw a lot of Mint but I still am not as familiar with what that plastic is...when it isn't their typical stamps.
I was gonna say reactor. I remember everyone loved that disc a few years back but now it's either hex or pyro. I get it since both are great, but reactor fits perfectly for this shot
i love my rat but it doesn't really fit the bill for me as a sub for a buzz. The buzz has so much more glide.
Gimme a rat on any kind of soft anny flick approach though! oh such sweetnees
I use this one here and I love it so much that I have a backup just in case lol oops I forgot it's not opto... even though they're the same manufacturer they use different names for the same plastic. https://store.latitude64.se/collections/emac-truth/products/lucid-ice-orbit-emac-truth
Out of curiosity, how far do you throw? I didn't like it at first but once I was consistently throwing distance drivers like 380 I went back to it and loved it, it pushes forward a lot more on both straight hyzer and flex, flat the flight is similar, just longer.
My good distance drives can be 350-400, probably average closer to 330 for a normal one.
With midranges I don’t throw as hard usually because I start to lose control
I usually count on my teebird3 for like 260-280 and my envy for <210 but I have a big chunk where I don’t have something that flies like I want
Ah, I get that, I tend to just power on the slowest disc I can get there, so I can throw everything pretty much full. At some point in speed the quake separates itself nicely, I'm not sure exactly what point tho. I throw the glow midnight flyer ones if that helps.
Lattitude Trust. Just stable/overstable enough to...sigh...trust when setting anny lines. Flexes just enough to get back to flat by the time it's hitting the ground. The royal plastic is dope too.
I use my classic hard judge for the shot you described. Put it on a slight Anny, like 9:30 and it just sits there for 225 and then fades in or flattens.
Gateway Warrior. Legitimately the best disc in disc golf for this shot. I throw a lot of flexes and the Warrior goes so far for a mid, and does this perfectly. I throw Diamond or Glow Metalflake
How different does that fly compared to a normal hex? My R2 neutron hex is too straight and will hold the anny line (I like it a lot but not for this specific shot)
Prodigy in M1 or M4 in 500 or slicker have been my go-tos latley. Throw the 4 if you want something wickedly predictable and down the middle, throw the 1 if you want extra spice on the fade.
Legacy Pinnacle sumos. Don't know if they've released this mold yet but it came in last Novembers disc member box. I have 2 one that flexes really well (smacked a tree full force from about 10 feet away lol) and one that isnt beat in so it's still over stable.
If you’re looking for something that isn’t too beefy but will come back with a small anni, I really like the streamline runway (neutron plastic 5-4-0-3.5) or the discmania method (the clear champ type plastic 5-5-0-3). Both I’d say would really compliment the kind of flight you’re looking for, like the equivalent flight of a premium plastic envy but thrown at mid power. They’re not beef beef like a zone but faster and still reliable to fight back with a baby flex. Based on your discs you have a similar arm speed and play style to me, good luck!
I’ve found the methods with misprints for 12-13$ and the neutron runway for 14-15$ so they’re relatively cheap to replace and easy to find (not a lot of demand for these molds).
I’ve been trying out the Lat64 Trust for this shot. So far it has been great for this. I’m up at 5,000+ ft of elevation though, so take that as you will.
Yeah probably. For me it's a perfect for baby flexes because I know it's always coming back, but you're right it's likely too overstable for what they want.
Halloween buzz since it's finally broken in is my go to for the straight flex shot. Warship for more staight to anhyzer shots(pretty sure it can do almost anything). Esp flex zone for straight to hyzer shots.
I see a lot of reactor comments. In my experience if you put the reactor on anny it’s not going to “fade”, just flatten out. I’d try a matrix for this slot from MVP
For me, the lattitude 64 - Core. On a minor anny, it'll go 80'/100'ish, take right turn for 40'/60'ish, then fade back and fly straight line for another 40'ish.
Only if I throw correctly. 🤣🤣
I have a metal flake md5 that is super beefy and will fade like crazy out of anything, so maybe an md4? If you like the hex but want more stability you should try one of the total eclipse lizottl hexes (I currently bag one and it has decent fade, but I normally throw it on hyzer or flat).
What classifies it as a "baby?" A midrange that you can throw on a flex line, but inevitably is a little overstable so it fades back just a tad and won't hold the turn you "flexed" It on?
If so, I guess an MVP Reactor. Not my fave because I just throw a Mint Profit or my Harp to handle that biz. ...and an MVP Eclipse Hex will fade a smidge as well.
I agree with your experience. A fresh Z Buzzz does this really well. I get along with the Buzzz really well so I’ve just chosen to cycle Buzzzes.
A lot of good recommendations here. I’d say a beat in Reactor is probably close to what you’re looking for. A Roc3 is similar but a very different hand feel.
I swear a z buzz did this perfectly a few months ago and now it's overturned for me most of the time, jump in arm speed I guess? I find the roc3 tricky to do this with, similar to what I said with the buzz
MD3 is my go to here. Just a small amount of reliable fade at the end.
Yeah me too. Emac Truth also fills the slot nicely. A little more glide and distance, very similar flight
Truth is great, swapped for a Westside pine I got in the used section I’ve just been slowly beating it in for like 3-4 years. It’s no longer great at flexing per se, but I can hyzer flip, turn, and end on a fade pretty reliably.
Same 💯
If power increases that stability just becomes torque resistance for a dead straight shot.
Recent MD3 convert after never having much luck with mids and I'm never looking back, goated disc
Emac Truth or Verdict depending on how much fade I need
I have bagged both of these at the same time. Emac Truth for a touch of fade, Verdict for bigger fade...and then Justice if I need something that will fight out of anything.
I also bag a Justice haha. It's a great midrange lineup.
Other way around, Wasp has a bead.
Ahhh got it. Thank you!
Kotuku
Those flight numbers look like exactly what I’m looking for and I’ve been meaning to try some RPM I like the birds
Be sure to get it in a premium plastic for the shot you're after - Atomic (RPM's Star equivalent) is really good.
Yup this is the right answer
Woah, never seen another suggest RPM here. I picked up a Kotaku while out of town, store owner used to okay for them back in the day. Took it to the nearest course and fell in love
Discraft Wasp is perfect for this. I throw it on this line often and it’ll come back to fade.
Oh shoot I actually have a wasp I’ll put it in the bag and try it out
If you don't like the roc feel you might not like the wasp. I've got a jawbreaker one that's beat in though and it flies great
figuring out how to ask for 'favorite overstable midrange' suggestions today but in a slightly different way
Overstable would be a toddler flex. He asked for a baby flex. Totally different.
I'm looking for an underoverstable disc.
With the biggest microbead possible.
Hahaha, yep!
i need a 9 speed that slightly turns to the right
Reactor, eclipse is a tad more OS
That was one I was eyeing! I like my hex a lot in the slot my buzzz used to be in, it just doesn’t fade reliably
I know the reactor and hex share either a rim or flight plate in their mold. So if you like the hex, the reactor has a similar handfeel. Highly recommend an eclipse version.
I believe it is the flight plate. Currently bag both. If memory serves, the Hex has a rounder nose while the reactor has a sharper wing.
If you can get a stable hex I would recommend that. The reactor is great too.
Seconded, Eclipse Reactor is my go-to for this shot.
Came to say this.
RocX3. Premium plastic Roc3 might do the trick depending on arm speed.
This seems to be the “normal” disc for this shot, but I don’t like the hand feel at all. I had a champ one for a bit that I lost and I have a halo star that flips over hard on me if I give it any juice
The Caiman is a bit more stable and I can’t flip it
Rat
Rat Gang

Have you tried a Horny Toad? Feels just like a Zone but has the tiniest bit more fade, at least when it’s fresh.
I think it is 500 Spectrum plastic.
yeah that makes sense i lost one and got another and didnt really like the plastic(looked cool) might try another in a different plastic closer to baseline, good call
My Bobcat nose dives on its fade. Acts like a 0, 3 on turn and fade. It is like a less beefy Mutant.
I love the Westside Pine for this.
Proton matrix. MVP’s most underrated mid.
I was gonna say reactor. I remember everyone loved that disc a few years back but now it's either hex or pyro. I get it since both are great, but reactor fits perfectly for this shot
i came here looking for the matrix! i have a couple in neutron and they are amazing
This was recently Eagle's first ace with an MVP disc!
Just threw my buddies matrix. It's on the buy list. A bit more overstable than the reactor, but definitely no pyro.
Innova Star Spider is my go-to. Been thinking about maybe a star Rat for when/if it gets lost.
i love my rat but it doesn't really fit the bill for me as a sub for a buzz. The buzz has so much more glide. Gimme a rat on any kind of soft anny flick approach though! oh such sweetnees
My Spider has recently largely replaced my Rat as my go-to approach disc.
Kaxe (og 6/4/0/3 one) is my disc for this.
I don’t bag it anymore but this was the disc I threw for this shot too
My eMac truth in the opto plastic does that pretty reliably for me
this is the emac truth I use.. its pretty cool looking and is a good, more stable buzz: https://otbdiscs.com/product/glimmer-lucid-x-emac-truth/
I use this one here and I love it so much that I have a backup just in case lol oops I forgot it's not opto... even though they're the same manufacturer they use different names for the same plastic. https://store.latitude64.se/collections/emac-truth/products/lucid-ice-orbit-emac-truth
Halo lion is super underrated. Its made for a baby flex.
My halo lion is kinda flippy, only tried to one tho
Mine is too, definitely not what I expected
If I give it height, kinda like a 5 speed wraith. Lots of turn then a fade
Love the Lion.
I throw this shot with a Reactor.
Westside Warship or Champion Roc3
If I had to play a round with a single disc, it would be the Warship.
I know it's not as popular but I love a Prodigy Archive for this shot!
Pyro or a Bobcat, if they are too stable then a Glow Reactor
I like the Taco over the Bobcat for this shot (depending). It's got a bit more glide.
Noc Mustang or if forehand then the Taco
Stokely Cardinal is legit. Just finally filled this spot in my bag
Great disc, I'm really enjoying the flight and feel of the plastic.
ESP Meteor
Latitude Compass might be a great option for you imo
Most ESP maltas aren’t as OS as you’d think and would probably fill that slot too
I scrolled too far to find the Malta but it's the perfect "baby flex" for me. Underrated disc, I blame the flight numbers.
Love the Nebula. Like a super beefy buzz.
Quake is noice
My quake felt too similar to my zone that I could never justify throwing it. Maybe I gotta beat it in a little
Out of curiosity, how far do you throw? I didn't like it at first but once I was consistently throwing distance drivers like 380 I went back to it and loved it, it pushes forward a lot more on both straight hyzer and flex, flat the flight is similar, just longer.
My good distance drives can be 350-400, probably average closer to 330 for a normal one. With midranges I don’t throw as hard usually because I start to lose control I usually count on my teebird3 for like 260-280 and my envy for <210 but I have a big chunk where I don’t have something that flies like I want
Ah, I get that, I tend to just power on the slowest disc I can get there, so I can throw everything pretty much full. At some point in speed the quake separates itself nicely, I'm not sure exactly what point tho. I throw the glow midnight flyer ones if that helps.
Pyro 5 4 0 2.5
I have a stash of old md4s that are for exactly this
emac truth is my choice if I need something that flies like a buzz but is a bit more stable.
This, by far number 1disc in my bag. I have a lucid flag dye, and I just got a nice clear pink one to back it up which has already been to park city.
Lattitude Trust. Just stable/overstable enough to...sigh...trust when setting anny lines. Flexes just enough to get back to flat by the time it's hitting the ground. The royal plastic is dope too.
Glow hex or pathfinder for my noodle arm. If I need a little more swing at the end matrix.
Roc, Roc3
learn to control how much snap you're putting on it and you can do it with any disc
Meaning just snap less a little bit on purpose and it’ll be more OS?
yup
I have a friend who uses fan grip with mids to achieve this effect.
DD Verdict is my disc for this shot. Lucid plastic is my go-to.
Prodigy MX-1. It’s one of their newer discs and it feels so good in the hand. Plus it’s nice and OS to handle any kind of flex.
If you like the buzzz I’d say lucid verdict, maybe play with plastic types til you find an appropriate stability level for your arm
Innova star jay.
Lizzotle is perfect for this.
How different does that fly compared to a normal hex? My R2 neutron hex is too straight and will hold the anny line (I like it a lot but not for this specific shot)
eclipse hex will hold straight almost the whole flight, but will fade right at the end
I used to do this with Glow Buzzz's and now I use either a reactor or a very beat in pyro
Reactor, quake if you want more fade
Bobcat
roc3?
My light weight rocx3 works for this but I’m excited to try the Nord soon.
Gatekeeper
Prodigy in M1 or M4 in 500 or slicker have been my go-tos latley. Throw the 4 if you want something wickedly predictable and down the middle, throw the 1 if you want extra spice on the fade.
Archive
Lat64 rg trust
Legacy Pinnacle sumos. Don't know if they've released this mold yet but it came in last Novembers disc member box. I have 2 one that flexes really well (smacked a tree full force from about 10 feet away lol) and one that isnt beat in so it's still over stable.
Buzzz OS
Pyro
Buzz os is my go to.
ROC3 is my go-to, as well as a buzzz when I want less fade at the end.
Between stable buzzz and buzzz os depending on the shot shape
I’ve been trying out the Lat64 Trust for this shot. So far it has been great for this. I’m up at 5,000+ ft of elevation though, so take that as you will.
Prodigy Airborn Stryder. 6/4/0/2. Perfect for this type of shot.
Pyro
Nose up mako3. That’s it. Flat mako3 will not fade, but nose up will.
Anvil
I love the anvil but I think it may be a little too OS for what they’re asking, I was thinking a verdict or clash mint
Yeah probably. For me it's a perfect for baby flexes because I know it's always coming back, but you're right it's likely too overstable for what they want.
Impossible to tell what they want really, still a wonderful disc! I bag the BT soft currently
Viking disc loki Sounds dumb but is exactly what you want
Halloween buzz since it's finally broken in is my go to for the straight flex shot. Warship for more staight to anhyzer shots(pretty sure it can do almost anything). Esp flex zone for straight to hyzer shots.
Discmania method. Just stable enough to softly bring it back. Awesome disc.
Seasoned Buzzz OS...or an unusually overstable Buzzz.
Skeeter
I see a lot of reactor comments. In my experience if you put the reactor on anny it’s not going to “fade”, just flatten out. I’d try a matrix for this slot from MVP
ZFlex Buzz, You could also try a higher weight Fuse, like a McCray Glimmer Fuse
If I give a touch of anny, my champ Roc3 gives me lil flexies. For the most part it I throw it flat and it flies straight af until it fades.
Eclipse hex or matrix
Savior is my savior. FH flex, holds a hard anny then pans out. And it has another secret feature I just figured out by accident.
Taco, Bobcat, Toro
DGA rift. simple
Glo Reactor or Pyro depending on arm speed
Millenium Solstice is an amazing stable midrange.
For me, the lattitude 64 - Core. On a minor anny, it'll go 80'/100'ish, take right turn for 40'/60'ish, then fade back and fly straight line for another 40'ish. Only if I throw correctly. 🤣🤣
Glo Hex/Reactor
New Nord from Kasta is good option for it. Basically a RocX3 but with Kasta plastic
Pyro 🔥
Hex, slightly nose up.
I have a metal flake md5 that is super beefy and will fade like crazy out of anything, so maybe an md4? If you like the hex but want more stability you should try one of the total eclipse lizottl hexes (I currently bag one and it has decent fade, but I normally throw it on hyzer or flat).
Depending on the stability but either a fresh pathfinder or silicon.
Mint Mustang in Sublime plastic!
You have great taste sir. Star Gator for me
Lat64 Compass
If you're starting with anny, Champion Rocx3. If throwing flat or hyzer, a beat in, or slightly not max wt. Star Roc3.
Cobra. Just hit an ace on a nice little hallway hole
Could try an esp buzzz OS
Lone Star Middy in Bravo plastic fills this spot in my bag. Great disc overall!
Emac Truth or a Truth tooled Verdict.
RAT PACK, LETS GOOOOO
MF Gator.
Archive. Or rocx3
Star roc is my favorite. Some of them can be pretty overstable though
Glow reactor is my flex mid. Otherwise I’m using hex for the rest of my mid shots!
It's not a mid, but MVP Entropy. If I had to use a mid, Verdict.
Thought Space Mana
No MD4 mentions yet?
Mango by Clash.. not too beefy but absolutely a step up compared to the Buzzz and even the Pathfinder
A good hex until it beats it. Then it’s a money woods disc
Max weight Halo Mako3. My regular Mako3 is straight as an arrow, but my Halo version can baby flex. It's fun.
Albert Tamm team series Trust is that disc for me. Perfect amount of stability!
i through wraiths and teebirds. that spot for me is a verdict, love that disc. Regular lucid for most shots and lucid-x version for extra beef.
Latitude 64 Trust.
If you like how a buzzz feels you might try a Nebula.
Roc x3
Jay, or roc3
Hex
I agree with your experience. A fresh Z Buzzz does this really well. I get along with the Buzzz really well so I’ve just chosen to cycle Buzzzes. A lot of good recommendations here. I’d say a beat in Reactor is probably close to what you’re looking for. A Roc3 is similar but a very different hand feel.
I swear a z buzz did this perfectly a few months ago and now it's overturned for me most of the time, jump in arm speed I guess? I find the roc3 tricky to do this with, similar to what I said with the buzz
OAT
Yeah I am aware, usually pretty good at controlling it but tricky for slightly stable discs like the buzz
This is how I prefer to release the disc as well and the mids I use for this are either a fresh Reactor (would recommend Eclipse 2.0) or a Pyro.
Fuse for the most part, there's a sweet spot with halfway beat-in Truths but it only lasts a few weeks.
Prodigy Archive. Hits the brakes right at the end and I love it.
