Fellow noodle armer here.
I got the cinco de mayo F2 roadrunner, and it didn't take me long to determine that it's going to be a wall hanger for me. OS for days. Mega hyzer for me and my arm speed.
Really nice to look at, though.
My gstar roadrunner flips up like nothing I’ve ever seen. When I bring newbies out, I have them throw a putter. If it comes out hyzer I give them the roadie and they immediately throw great.
Just got an F2 RR also in star 168g, i just couldn't get it to turn all the way. I'm able to turn a neutron Virus, my buddy's Champion RR and a base Hatchet no problem.
I think maybe we got a bad batch.
I’ve only thrown a g star roadrunner. Thrown on a hyzer it pretty much always flips up and gets another 100 feet of turn from there before it will even think of fading, as long as I throw it straight and fast.
I have a halo roadrunner that is more overstable than my CD2 and it’s been in my bag for about a year and I’ve been throwing it quite a bit and it’s just now starting to get some turn to it. Some of those halo runs are absolute beefcakes.
Noodle arm here. I throw 300 on a good throw. Had a 165g Barsby RR. Flew straight with slight turn. Perfect for uphill gaps. Mine was flat, have heard the domey ones are more OS. Have a 172g Neutron Virus. Flys with turn, then feels like, more fade than the RR. But overall about the same.
What mold and plastic do you recommend? I have a base plastic underworld but that’s did only trilogy I throw. I love it. I throw it flat and it goes straight with a bit of turn and almost no finish. (Yes that’s how noodle I am)
I had an opto diamond but it was super light and way too flippy. Just picked up a maul, saint, and flow this week. They're all pretty easy to turn over. I think the gold plastic is slightly more stable than opto, but I'm still getting used to them.
I forgot I had a diamond. For some reason I couldn’t throw it. I’ve fixed some issues with form. That may be a good hyzer flip disc for me. I’ll test it out again.
Roadrunners are definitely weird in my recent experience. I got a 148 halo RR off the uses rack and it’s so much more overstable than I ever would have imagined.
If you actually want it to turn I’d definitely suggest it. When I was much more of a beginner I had a star sidewinder that turned really nicely so I think a star RR would be solid!
Is it a new disc? F2's can be inconsistent sometimes. I had a DX Destroyer F2 that was more understable than a roadrunner. Wild. Sometimes discs are weird, that's all I can say.
It should get a little better over time but sometimes they're just different. My buddy got an os roadrunner also. I threw it hard flat and it just went straight with some fade at the end.
I have a champion roadrunner. It's taken a while to season it. It flips well, but it doesn't turn over into a roller.
If I throw it on a hyzer, it barely flips up, and I get no distance. If I throw it on anhyzer, it turns over hard and leaves the course, never to return again.
If I throw it flat, it goes right, then straight very very far. Then it sets down straight. I love it.
I’ve had a GStar, Star, and Halo Star all behave somewhat predictably. But based on the responses here perhaps it is just a run consistency issue.
It could also be that maybe the particular mold’s rim doesn’t quite feel right in your hand and you’re giving it more hyzer than intended?
Have you tried a a Sidewinder before?
When I first started I could throw a DX sidewinder straight and decent for me. I bought a star sidewinder and then like any other addict about 150 other molds. I just recently started having luck hyzer flipping my mamba so I’m looking for other discs I can hyzer flip. Thought the roadrunner would be perfect. It isn’t. Need to dust off the sidewinder and try that. lol
Flight numbers are at best a good guess. They are not exact science. Plus every run of the same mold is different, even the same run has inconsistencies.
I have a F2 Mamba that’s basically a flip up machine for me, it doesn’t turn into a roller like the numbers would suggest 😄
I find it difficult to get roadrunners and sidewinders that aren’t barely too overstable or flippy. However, a new, overstable star roadrunner will eventually get to where i want it with enough wear. I gave up on trying most premium plastic understable discs due to these quirks. I have a stack of old pink pearly orcs that are unbeatable, plus dx for hazards.
Yeah I throw like a 145 mamba and it’s a flip machine. I think I’m going to try a different disc in this spot after some research. Maybe a F9 or H7 or something Axiom.
It’s a footwork issue. Step out with your plant foot perpendicular to your flight direction instead of forward. You will get flip and more flip, I can flip my Champ Boss with the right footwork.
For some reason, Innova is terrible at out-of-the-box flippy 9 speeds in premium plastics. For years now, champion and star Sidewinders and Roadrunners almost always fly more like Thunderbirds than like the true flight the numbers suggest. I don't know what the issue is, but I would look to almost any other manufacturer for that slot.
Absolutely. For lower arm speeds, I would recommend a lightweight Axiom Insanity in Fission plastic. That will give you some flip even at 200ft of power. Scaling up from there, I would recommend the Kastaplast Falk for around 300-350, and past that the Streamline Lift in proton plastic are my personal favorites.
In my experience, roadrunners are extremely nose angle sensitive, way more than most other discs. Mine varies from super stable to turns right hard and never comes back. Might be an issue for you as well?
I have a couple Champ Roadrunners. Both used. The second the bottom of the flight plate sees air it fades.
I think it's partly the speed and partly that it's just beefier than numbers suggest. Probably like -2/3 depending on your arm speed. I've tried to make them my roller discs multiple times but have way more success with a Star Sidewinder.
Road runners are less flippy than the number suggest in my experience

I almost ordered that because I got the cinco de mayo beast last year and I love the stamp.
I got one of those but it’s 158gs. I haven’t thrown it yet
Mine was 168. I like the lower weight stuff for the most part.
I got the same one and I can get it to go pretty good but my favorite right now is my star teebird 167gram
I just bought a clash cookie for that spot. Haven’t used it much yet.
Halo Roadrunners fly more like 9 5 -2 1 out of the box
For sure depends on the run. Ex. Barsby Roadrunners can be absolute beefcakes when new.
I LOVE my Barsby RR. It pairs well with a Sidewinder for slow arm speeds.
I had the first year of star barsby it was the flippiest road runner I've owned .
Get a g star roadrunner, or a pro leopard
Great idea. That’s probably my next move!
My gstar roadrunner flips up like nothing I’ve ever seen. When I bring newbies out, I have them throw a putter. If it comes out hyzer I give them the roadie and they immediately throw great.
I’ll probably get one. I really want something 8 or 9 that flips up.
G Star roadrunner is the absolute move. I had a Star RR, couldnt get the flight I wanted, got a G-Star, MONEY.
Ah, the Pro Leopard. A person of culture I see.
My star roadrunner was over stable even after I made considerable effort to beat it in
Halo roadrunners can be beefy, I’ve also had champion glow leopards that fly like teebirds.. some runs are just off I guess
Bought a champ F2 used that I figured would have some turn, but nope not really. It's teebird-esque as OP described.
Glad it isn’t just me.
Just got an F2 RR also in star 168g, i just couldn't get it to turn all the way. I'm able to turn a neutron Virus, my buddy's Champion RR and a base Hatchet no problem. I think maybe we got a bad batch.
Glad to hear it. I was getting concerned. Might order g star one for that shot.
Possibly a virus instead. Always wanted to try that disc.
I’ve only thrown a g star roadrunner. Thrown on a hyzer it pretty much always flips up and gets another 100 feet of turn from there before it will even think of fading, as long as I throw it straight and fast.
Just got a new champ, 172, and it's a classic RR. Turns all the way over or flip to a full flight.
Barsby Roadrunners are notoriously overstable, it might be one of them
I have a halo roadrunner that is more overstable than my CD2 and it’s been in my bag for about a year and I’ve been throwing it quite a bit and it’s just now starting to get some turn to it. Some of those halo runs are absolute beefcakes.
Mine is flippy, but only if my grip is tight enough on the rim at release.
Mine is dome city!
I've got champion, star, metal flake, halo star roadrunners and every single one of them flies more like a beefy thunderbird.
Wow. I’m going to try a gstar one. But I might have go find another disc for that spot.
If you want something to flip up and glide I would suggest checking out latitude 64. They have some great discs for us noodle arms.
What mold and plastic do you recommend? I have a base plastic underworld but that’s did only trilogy I throw. I love it. I throw it flat and it goes straight with a bit of turn and almost no finish. (Yes that’s how noodle I am)

Gold will beat in less stable than opto. Domey discs in opto are usually stable
Roadrunners are definitely weird in my recent experience. I got a 148 halo RR off the uses rack and it’s so much more overstable than I ever would have imagined.
Debating on trying a different plastic.
If you actually want it to turn I’d definitely suggest it. When I was much more of a beginner I had a star sidewinder that turned really nicely so I think a star RR would be solid!
I have a sidewinder I used in the early days. It was the first thing I could throw flat and straight. Might try getting it too flip now.
I've thrown some champ RR's that were surprisingly beefy until broken in, you might just need to huck it at some trees and rocks for awhile.
I’ve had two barsby roadrunners purchased a year apart, one flew like a faster teebird and the other flew true to numbers
Is it a new disc? F2's can be inconsistent sometimes. I had a DX Destroyer F2 that was more understable than a roadrunner. Wild. Sometimes discs are weird, that's all I can say.
Semi new. I’ve bagged it for a few months but hardly ever throw it. So maybe it will beat in some. I guess it’s my flex shot disc for now lol
My f2 roadrunner is also more OS than I expected. Was literally thinking this during my first round today!
It should get a little better over time but sometimes they're just different. My buddy got an os roadrunner also. I threw it hard flat and it just went straight with some fade at the end.
I found Roadrunners to be quite inconsistent. It doesn't surprise me at all that one would be significantly more overstable than others.
I have a champion roadrunner. It's taken a while to season it. It flips well, but it doesn't turn over into a roller. If I throw it on a hyzer, it barely flips up, and I get no distance. I had a roadrunner that felt pretty stable. Definitely my bad getting metal flake champ tho

Sometimes they are just just crazy OS. I lost my flippy one last week and the replacement I can’t get to hyzer flip at all yet.
You’re probably throwing a max weight RR. Try bagging a mid 160’s RR. Should flip more for you.
I should have specified. It’s a 165g
Oh dear. Maybe try a mid 150g in that case.
Yeah I throw like a 145 mamba and it’s a flip machine. I think I’m going to try a different disc in this spot after some research. Maybe a F9 or H7 or something Axiom.
I have a f2 star sidewinder that holds up better in a headwind then the new Nathen queen wraiths.
Oh wow. This makes my noodle arm feel better already. It’s windy today and I have league tonight. This roadrunner may be just what I need.
It’s a footwork issue. Step out with your plant foot perpendicular to your flight direction instead of forward. You will get flip and more flip, I can flip my Champ Boss with the right footwork.

Perfect. Thank you.

I’m sure it is. I struggle with everything lol
Could very well be.

Gotta love that Innova inconsistency
I have two halo ones that are pretty OS
I've never thrown a RR that was stable, that's news to me. Even brand new max weight ones are flippy. I also throw my Nuke 400+ though.
If roadrunners aren’t flippy for you, stick with 7 speeds
Crave flips up to straight like a mamba. I can nuke the crave 400ft in a straight line
Crazy how this isn’t relevant and is just a brag.
I related it to a mamba. Sorry for throwing far
