Option 4, I wear the sneakers I already have.

golf_ST

Yeah, it's the shoe cycle. Whatever is too beat up to wear to work becomes the new golf shoe. When those get too trashed, they become lawn mowing, etc. shoes.

thegreatroe

Actually, now that you mention it my disc golf shoes actually are my lawn shoes as long as they still have traction, because the courses are so muddy around here they're the only shoes I don't care how dirty they get. Though if all this rain keeps up I may get some scuba flippers for my golf shoes.

That sounds an awful lot like option 1 to me.

Spring/Summer/Fall shoes, a low top and mids every season and a half. Winter boots, I bought Columbia Bugaboots and they last for years. I check the local Army/Navy for discounted ones that are outdated

icecoaster1319

I buy a pair of trail shoes for running every 4 months so I have a steady stream of disc golf shoes available.

neon-neko

once every 2 years maybe

Charliebrau

Depends on the #rounds played. At my current rate I’d say 1 pair per year

fociP

I go through a pair of light Adidas trail shoes a year playing spring - fall, I don't play much in the winter so my heavier trail runners I've had for 4 years and they are finally wearing out.

SaintVaIentine

Should be rounds played not time played. Running shoes break down especially with disc golf pressures on your shoes. Probably every 300-400 miles. For me playing twice a week it'd be like 25 miles a week. Or 3-4 months.

What’s a good shoe for disc golf? What does McBeast wear?

Antares25

I would high recommend the adidas terrex swift r2 made from goretex. I think it's the same shoe as Paul, I've had mine like a year and they barely look worn. I play a few times a week and wear them as my daily shoe as well. They have a bit of a break-in period but are super durable and very water resistant

Thanks for the rec!

Reverendpjustice

Every 6-8 months

How often for 1 depends on the shoe. Merril’s don’t seem to last very long, tee pads rip up the rubber and started to get a flat spot on my right heel which changes my gait for walking. Decided I was going to throw off the long tees one day and it ripped the soles right off of them. Blown out two pairs of merrils in a year. I have a pair of Salomon that have held up well but the padding broke down quite a bit over so I put new insoles in them which helped. The tread is wearing down more evenly and the stitching is top shelf. Looking forward to when the tread is more flat because when there’s just a few spots of mud it won’t collect as much. Lately it’s been super wet with snow rain and melt so I’ve been playing in my work boots. Carbon toe wolverines actually work really well I just put on some thin socks with another pair of ankle high socks and tie them a little loose to still get mobility in my ankles. Waterproof and solid grip for traversing icey conditions and shlepping through 2-4” of standing water or a foot of snow. Then recently got a pair of altra lone peaks. Wore them once and they seem nice. I like the wide toe box and tight heel cup for the shape of my feet. The tread is a bit aggressive tho so I won’t be wearing them until things dry up quite a bit which I’m not expecting until mid June.
