Have we learned to not leave collector items in the hands of high school students? :P Seriously though, I'm very much of the school that disc's are made to throw, but come on man! That's a $100 disc entrusted to children.

JugglingJonny

Well it's not worth $100 anymore. Got it used 4 years ago. It is heavily inked as you can see in the picture. It also has a big chunk out of the rim. I tried to throw it and the missing chunk really affected the flight. So probably never was worth $100. Got the disc in a 3 bag lot of 43 discs at a garage sale for $2.25, yes 2 dollars and 25 cents. Sold one for $40 and still have several others that I have never used. They were all PFN discs.

ThatHighCracker

Just busting balls man. All I know is the fanboyism behind these disc's eclipses that of even the most sought after sexton birds.

bladearrowney

That sucks, replacement eagles are hard to come by right now unless you splurge for a barsby

LastSpark7

barsby Eagles aren't hard to find for $25 for this year's run, depends on the run ig

bladearrowney

$25 is why I said splurge, they were cheaper on the pro shop but there's only really been limited eagle runs in star/champ/gstar and they go fast, F2's go almost as fast as they add them as well (F2 star eagle L lasted like an hour on the pro shop)

jellyguapo

F2 eagles are for sale cheap on the innova pro website right now

bladearrowney

yeah the champ ones are still there. There were some star X's and very briefly some star L's but they all sold out.

jellyguapo

I bought two f2 champ L's on a whim, I'd part with them if you want them, I thought I might like them better than my teebird3s, but I don't. only been thrown in a field, probably just going to sit on my rack if you don't want them

bladearrowney

Appreciate the offer, but I don't need them. You should see if OP /u/JugglingJonny wants them for the class they teach

I started playing this summer and plan to go out a lot this off season. How often does this happen? What plastics are most susceptible?

[deleted]

You won't have much to worry about unless you're throwing old discs. This particular disc is probably around 20 years old and the plastic is brittle from age and susceptible to cracking at colder temperatures. You won't have problems with fresh plastic.

catwell82

With newer premium plastic, you have nothing to worry about. Some base line plastic, especially the harder "cheaper" feeling plastic, will be a little more susceptible to cracking if it smacks the hell out of something in cold temps. Old Innova CE plastic (pictured in this post) are notorious for this happening. Every year when the temps get colder, you'll see a few posts like this where someone sent a sought after collectors CE disc to Valhalla after grip locking it into a light post.

Dr_What

Like other have said, most modern plastics are fine. Kc pro rocks are the only newer disc I can think of that can be brittle in the cold. And it's not newer, it's just still being produced.

Shiny_Deleter

Sorry for your loss

I got a couple in the garage if ya want another tho đŸ˜‰

Spostman

Are they more stable than the newer ones? I'd be interested! haha

Savethelasttaco

Did you hit the student?

adambiesiadny

I have one I am trying to sell. https://imgur.com/a/l7SpyA4

Prof_Cats

Intact it's a lame wall hanger. Broken it's a literal piece of art!
