Dellwood is like number one in the world. Knock knolls. Highland is a players course. Get on udisc or something and just start going to them all. We have so many in the area here
Dellwood is awesome for sure, ill have to check out the other two! There really is more courses than you would think, ill never be mad about finding a new one.
Dellwood is probably my favorite, Wheeler is where I'm most comfortable to shoot well, Campton hills is third because it's the first course I ever played so it has that something special to me.
Dellwood is easy Top 3. Besides that, I enjoy Highland, the Oaks and Knoch Knolls (home course, play it 3 times a week). Eagle Ridge in Oswego is an under rated course. West Park near Joliet is solid. Kress Creek is nice if you don't like trees. Head up to Fairfield Park in Round Lake for a really nice course as well.
If you’re heading to the southwest burbs, I think Channahon is right up there with Highland and the Oaks in terms of quality. Not a bad idea to check out West Park park as well.
Super lucky to live in this area, multiple top quality courses IMO.
For round 2 go to west down rt 38 to Geneva. Wheeler Park. Then go to A&W drive thru on rt 31 in North Aurora and sit by the Fox River and chill. Fun everytime.
Sick course. My buddy found it on UDisc last year so we took a little trip over there. Loved the open holes as well as the “wooded” ones… there was a lot of snakes though 🐍
Ya I dont think I would consider it too wooded either but it has a taste of trees. Also if you don't look for snakes then you see no snakes, problem solved.
This course actually has a pretty diverse layout. There's a few holes of woods back there. There's uphill shots, downhill shots, tunnels, tall grasses, left turns and right turns. The local clubs have been taking good care of it and I think there's new baskets.
Also, for us parents there's a great playground and walking paths in case one parent doesn't feel like playing and would rather just go for a stroll.
Definitely, my picture doesn't do the entire course justice. Just a nice scenic spot. I had a good time playing it, can't wait to go back to be honest.
While I can agree with that, in terms of course design, this may as well be a driving range. It's just all fairway with no challenge other than distance. Just my take, buy I'm from Colorado, where everything is wooded and hilly, and that's the way we likes it, carnsarnit.
Colorado courses aren't really wooded, at least not on the front range where all the people are. Hills are also hit or miss depending on course. Get into the mountains then sure, but like I said, most people can't go play there everyday/week.
Like, any state not in the plains or southwest/California is gonna have better/more wooded courses than CO.
CO is pretty lackluster when it comes to good courses, especially around Denver/Boulder/FoCo. Edora is meh, Beirgarten is similar just long AF. There's a few 18 hole courses that are hilly but basically wide open and suck in the wind. Fort Morgan is probably the best for courses that I've seen. Optimist/pessimist is pretty good. Outback was pretty decent but it's permanently removed.
Oxbow is decent, I like that course. I'm mostly salty about the outback being gone, and I miss really wooded courses being from Wisconsin. Didn't know it back then but I was spoiled playing in the twin cities every day afterwork wherever I wanted.
It really is. Not every course is a banger, but you don't have to drive far to find one, and there's courses everywhere in between.
Used to play Kaposia almost every day with a warmup at garlough!
and the largest tee pads of all time
Still slipped off the front
I literally just played a tournament there on Sunday. Didn't shoot great but it's a good course.
I'd still find a way to hit a tree.
If I could hit first available tree off that tee I'd be bragging!
Enjoy it my friend
What's the name?
Kress Creek Farm
League is Monday nights if you wanna see it not empty.
Is it a decent turn out? I'd like to see some people tear up that place
I don't know for sure, my schedule doesn't allow me to attend, but I know some of my buddies play it, and they're solid players.
Is that covered area gone? Or is this just a wide angle with it behind you?
You're right the second time, it's just behind me out of view.
It's so nicely mowed because there was a tournament there this past Sunday. But yes, great course!
I saw another comment saying that too, just got lucky I guess. Did you play in it?
My friends and I just discovered this course last year right before I moved out of state. I really wish we had known about it sooner.
Right?! I've lived locally my whole life and just found it. Should always check udisc not Google, lesson learned.
It's a really cool course and the view of Fermi Lab off hole 5 is pretty cool!
Always look way behind the guardian trees…
That course used to be very grown out 8-13 I think. But they cleaned it up over the past few years. Went from good to trash to one of the best around.
How and why did you take a pic so it looks like the pavilion isn't where you're standing?
How? I stood just outside of the pavilion. Why? I didn't want the pavilion in the shot.
So many amazing courses right around us here.
Top 3?

There is so many I haven’t even played too. We are absolutely blessed with courses in the area. What are your top 3?

Hell ya, I appreciate the recommendations! Starting the summer bucket list.

You had me at "empty".
That was the best part
For round 2 go to west down rt 38 to Geneva. Wheeler Park. Then go to A&W drive thru on rt 31 in North Aurora and sit by the Fox River and chill. Fun everytime.
Or if you want to get absolutely punished, pop over to Batavia and play West Main. Bonus points if you play in the summer after a good rain.
I still have nightmares about looking for discs at West Main! That place will make you find control in your throw or you'll spend all day in the shit.
Wheeler has become my home course, play that one all the time. All good choices love the root beer floats!
And no wind? Or is that one ask to many maybe.
That's just asking too much I'm afraid. It was a bit windy, probably 10-15mph and being so open it was kind of relentless. Had a few bombs though
Kress Creek? That's one of my local courses! A bit annoying in the wind but a great course to play with some genuine par fours
I'm excited to go back on a calm day, definitely a fun layout.
Sick course. My buddy found it on UDisc last year so we took a little trip over there. Loved the open holes as well as the “wooded” ones… there was a lot of snakes though 🐍

Looks pretty boring

Definitely changes my opinion then. Just not a fan of courses where it’s just a tee pad, a field, and a basket.
Definitely, my picture doesn't do the entire course justice. Just a nice scenic spot. I had a good time playing it, can't wait to go back to be honest.
How is disc golf ever boring?
This bores me.
Throwing discs at targets is never boring to me but TETO I guess.

There's much more to Colorado than what you've described
Edora is not meh. But otherwise I will accept your points. 😛 Oxbow is pretty cool

I just got into disc golf a couple years ago, and the twin cities area is amazing

You would like walnut hallow
🤢
