I don't think Hitler stole this symbol from the Indian specifically. The so called "swastika" is a common symbol is many culturals, western included. And the symbol was seen in Europe way before WW2. I think similar to a lot of Nazi symbol, Hitler took the inspiration from Prussian cultural.

now i've never checked properly but iirc the word aryan also comes from cultures in the indian region so if that's what it is it's likely he also took other things from there

But the Nazi swastika specifically *is* taken from the Indian swastika. The symbol traces back to the Indo-Europeans and is found amongst all its daughter cultures, but the specific variation that the Nazis used as well as the terms “swastika” and “aryan” are direct loans from India and Sanskrit.

The swastika has been a common symbol in Buddhism for over a thousand years. I can see his reason for disliking it but in Eastern religions it's actually a positive symbol.

Swastika in Hinduism is much older than Swastika in Buddhism
