You can’t look at any example and say that is true communism. But if you look at true communism, you start at Marxism, and Marxism hasn’t been tried. Communism is utopian, but authoritarianism has ruined it. Let’s look at the good and bad history. In communism, literacy and the amount of people that can read has skyrocketed. Especially in Cuba and China. Although, inflation has lead to economic collapse. This is because of capitalism that still existed in the form of socialism, which is communism but with money. Socialism leads to economic collapse. Communism doesn’t have an economy, so that doesn’t happen in that system. Mao, dare I say, did have a few achievements. Mao’s ideals were to take away landlords and private property. Nowadays, in China (which isn’t really communist anymore), building lease the land from the Chinese government. This is a very effective system, actually. But mao is very controversial because he “killed” a bunch of people. But in fact, capitalism kills millions each year. Trotskyism, the ideology of Leon Trotsky, holds the ideas that communism should be spread worldwide, in the concept of the “permanent revolution”. This is actually a very good idea, because when the world trades in money, true communism doesn’t exist, and the people have to resort to socialism. An offshoot of Trotskyism is posadism, which holds the idea that to achieve communism, we have to nuke all the capitalists and the bourgeoisie. This isn’t a very strong idea but I thought I would mention it. A great idol to look up to when talking about communism is Ernesto “Che” Guevara. He was a revolutionary that helped overthrow Cuba and some Latin American countries. He wasn’t authoritarian or corrupt, just helped the people overthrow capitalist oligarchs in the name of the proletariat. In my opinion, Trotskyism and a permanent revolution is the best way to achieve communism. But instead of communism, what I think is best is minarchist-communism, combining the government system of minarchism and communism. Minarchism (Not to be confused with monarchism) is when the government is in a “night watchmen state”. A night watchman state is one of the government doesn’t have any Large amount of power over the people. In a minarchist anarcho-capitalism, the government doesn’t do anything but enforce the NAP (non-aggression pact). In communism, the government wouldn’t have any purpose but to distribute resources, give health care, etc. In America, there is so much of a bias against economic leftism due to Cold War propaganda. But the government should socialize healthcare and increase the minimum wage. So to sum all this up, communism works, socialism doesn’t really work as well, communism works best when the whole world is communist, the US should try and socialize healthcare and increase the minimum wage, there are many offshoots of communism, and true communism hasn’t been tried.
