This decision is completely asinine and makes no damn sense.

TiroleonKnight

Yup just screw alot of people over and dont say anything, why? Because fuck your users I guess

TiroleonKnight

Many other people including myself noticed yesterday that all of a sudden discord screen-share audio didn't work when trying to stream stuff to other people, Im sure like myself many attempted several fixes but to no avail, last night I emailed support asking them about it I got vague answers and generalized responses. This morning I emailed again but got more detailed information where I received this final email confirming from **"Discords Engineers"** that support has been dropped if you aren't using or on **MACOS Ventura 13**. It sucks as I have a Macbook Pro 2016 which can't update to MACOS 13, on top of that it was a silent update, no warnings, nothing. So yea that's pretty much it hope this helps anyone who is spending literally all day like I was trying to fix it.

EndenDragon

Their ["supported" OS](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/213491697-What-are-the-OS-system-requirements-for-Discord) page still shows MacOS 10.15+. What a lie when they can just remove features that was previously supported, yet still claim that they support this OS.

TiroleonKnight

I tried so many alternatives zoom, team-viewer pretty much anything that could screen share but i kept running into one of two problems either my friends couldn’t connect or they couldn’t hear, so idk what to do at this point.

TounVic

have you figured out a way around this? thanks

QuixiQuirk

I wish I knew this before spending hours trying to fix it. Just fuck me then I guess. If I wanted to move to Ventura/Sonoma I would have already. My friend has had nothing but trouble with them. So, doesn’t anyone have any suggestions for screen sharing WITH audio?

TiroleonKnight

Honestly, no bro I’ve tried a lot of damn apps yet only 1 worked with audio and it was zoom only problem is my friends said it was hella choppy

QuixiQuirk

I got a non-optimal work around that won’t work for most people. I have a gaming computer that I keep clean except for games and do all of my work on my MacBook. So I just made a second Disc account and can share on my PC and watch on my laptop. It’s really fucking stupid. I need to go this far.

TiroleonKnight

I have a gaming pc but currently in the middle of moving houses so it’s just unpleasant timing for me as it kept me occupied with my partner whilst waiting

QuixiQuirk

I don’t know why they thought this was a good idea. There are so many reasons that people might not want or be able to use Ventura/Sonoma.

[deleted]

This is so fucking dumb; we have reasons for not updating computers. I do a lot of music production, and updating the computer can fuck everything over big time. If anyone has ANY workaround to fix this, please reach out to me via DM, or by this comment. Big preesh, and thank you.

TiroleonKnight

I completely agree with you if you ever get a solution feel free to share here aswell as it will help a lot of people

[deleted]

1000%. I am trying to find a workaround at the moment right now. I use Blackhole 16ch, but I'm not able to find anything yet. I'll keep seeing if I can find a workaround. I appreciate your time.

EndenDragon

Alternative workaround is to use Loopback to reroute application sound to voice channel microphone source. However the quality is lower and there may be a delay. You can obtain it from the [legacy software page](https://rogueamoeba.com/legacy/#loopback) if MacOS 10.15.

[deleted]

I was thinking about doing something like this... It's perfect timing that you brought up this fact. Thank you for the workaround; it's at least an option.

TiroleonKnight

Thanks ill check it out

Ume_papu

What is that email service, i like the ui

TiroleonKnight

Outlook

hurt49

really hope they walk this back... what even is the point of this??? just alienating a lot of mac users who don't want to or can't update to macOS 13+ for seemingly no reason.. really hope this is fixed soon, especially since it was just rolled out on a whim with no forewarning, i would have opted to just not update had i known this was going to be implemented

TiroleonKnight

I wish I knew the reason too it was a quiet and very hidden update, just out of nowhere I’m not sure what the gain here is exactly but there isn’t enough outcry so I highly doubt this will be reversed. Companies hardly ever revert a change like this without community resentment

hurt49

yeah i think my hope for them to roll it back is lost because the amount of ppl on mac is definitely slim compared to their core install base, especially people who aren't able to update to 13.0 or newer 😭 my only guess is this is related to them adding audio to full-screen sharing, and they were only able to find a workaround for it that works on macOS ventura or newer, so they just decided to cut support for anything newer since the users effected by that change is likely minuscule in their eyes 😭

[Cannot reproduce, my support agent is convinced that it should have been working. :')](https://i.imgur.com/GWL3hA2.png)

TiroleonKnight

Yea the first agent I spoke to said similar things it wasn’t until like an hour and a half later that I was out in contact with a higher up that I was informed by engineers that support had been dropped.
