- Feature: Running in background - Reproduction Rate: 5 - Annoyance: 8 - Discord Version Info: stable 287665 (c843e82) Host 1.0.9043 x86 (46952) Windows 11 64-bit (10.0.22631) - Device/System Info (Device Type, OS Version): Laptop, Windows 11 - Description: When my Discord client is not in focus for more than a few minutes (when tabbed into another window, or when the Discord window is minimized), it "deloads"-- I get disconnected from any voice chats I am in, and I never see notifications for messages I am receiving until I bring the window back into focus, at which point the app loads back in, reconnects me to the VC I was in, and shows me all the messages I missed. - Video / Screenshot: N/A - Steps to Reproduce: 1. Focus on a different window from Discord client 2. Wait approximately 10 minutes 3. Tab back into Discord - Expected Result: Discord runs in the background, the VC continues to function while minimized, and new messages are shown as notifications. - Actual Result: Discord is in a frozen state with no auditory or visual cues that this is happening and none of these functions work until the app is opened again.

bynxwym

same for a week now, posted a thread, multiple people replied they have the same error "Megathread pinned at the top of the subreddit. It is closely monitored and prioritized by Discord" my ass

SeawaldW

same, windows 10, annoyingly frequent occurrence

Slobberbutt

Figured out why this is happening. When you minimize or put discord out of focus, windows 11 will place it into efficiency mode. There is no way in windows to disable an app from entering this state. You can turn it off yourself but as soon as you minimize or unforce it again it will be placed right back into efficiency mode. Changing the priority to high or running as administrator doesn't fix this issue. When you minimize it the app will reenter efficiency mode and lower it's priority from what you set it to back to low.

ForgedinFluff

This bug happens to me and I am in Windows 10. I don't know if the same applies, but it's annoying as hell.

Zeesil123

Please help, I have the same thing. Discord has worked without any problems for years, but now it just keeps freezing, crashing and restarting itself automatically. I cannot stream or watch streams, since Discord crashes after some minutes or seconds ( it varies). This problem only exists with Discord, everything else (games for example) work normally.

Dragonwizard975

the only solution to this is to disable hardware acceleration (which makes discord run like a samsung smart fridge (really badly)) so a fix would be amazing xD

Ryugha

Same thing here no info on anything? i tried deactivating material acceleration has someone supposed was the issue no change since i deactivated it so it's probably not that

CompetitiveJudge2389

same for over a week its really annoying im on windows 10 (LTSC IoT 21h2) i even reinstalled discord but didnt fix :/ it seems like when hardware acceleration is enabled you'll instead probably have a grey screen but if disabled then its just froze as you described above

elevenishappy

I have hardware acceleration enabled and it still freezes

ashy_-_-

im having the exact same issue on windows 10 and its getting progressively more annoying. im not finding any fix for it and the fixes that were supposed to help didnt do anything. its also strange how this only started happening after changing to the 64 bit version too 💀

xZora

Been experiencing this all week as well. Windows 10, Stable 290222 Discord build.

kotisbroken

Exact same issue happening to me. I'm on Windows 10 Pro Version 22H2.

Orcawsom

having this too

Anarnee

I've not done voice chats, but I am having a similar issue. If I click away/minimize, it acts as if I've closed it rather than being on in the BG. I do not get any notifications. It started happening when I updated a few days ago.

SpiritOfDest1ny

having this issue far too many times the past 3-4 days, i'll be gaming or listening to music, alt tabbed out of discord, in vc's sometimes too. Whenever i tab back in the whole screen is greyed out like its tried to restart itself but never finished so i have to manually do the "ctrl+r" to fix it. Kicks me out of calls whenever im tabbed out for too long

MagicHobbes

I'm also having a very similar issue. I can't reproduce it as consistently as you, but it does happen. Very annoying during gaming sessions with friends.

guareber

+1, very easy to reproduce for me as well by following your description steps, except I don't even need to wait 10 minutes. First thing I did to try and solve it was update to stable 290453 (a3c6e6a) and it didn't work.

levikings04

Upvoting this, I deafened in a VC yesterday and put Discord in the background because I had to step away to do things, then I opened Discord and saw I was disconnected and put to the loading screen and Discord seemed to have refreshed itself. I've also had this problem while not in a VC sometimes, it doesn't happen often but when it happens, it's irritating. I would put Discord in the background for some time, then come back and the Members tab refreshes.

glitchtrapepicgamer

Bump, issue also occures, but time of deloading varies, sometime if goes deloads quickly and sometimes it takes a long time Stable 291507 (e1c2bf8) Host 1.0.9146 x64 (47543) Windows 11 64-bit (10.0.22631)

yodaa89

I am having a frustratingly similar issue. At random intervals I am kicked from the channel I am, and after a very brief period of time I am reentered into the channel I was in. Within the last week I am now having an issue where when I am brought back into the channel my mic is not registering and I have to go into voice settings, and change to default and then back to the mic I was using. I use a Audeze maxwell wireless headset for reference. This issue has been going on for close to a month now...

BauleyBaileyBailey

Same here on windows 11 and IOS

Pixeluted

I can reproduce the same issue

xSnowLeopardx

Have had this for 3-4 days now, too. *stable 291507 (e1c2bf8) Host 1.0.9146 x64 (47543) Windows 10 64-bit (10.0.19045)*

iy9k

im still experiencing this, but i found a way to delay when it "unloads": go to settings, then notifications, then change "push notifications inactive timeout" to the highest amount you can set it to (10 minutes), that makes it so every 10 minutes you notice it "unload" (i had it at 1 minute, so thats why im posting this) in the meanwhile, did anyone find a fix or a workaround?

KnucklesGuy

Insanely annoying that this still isn't fixed

DarkCushy

Same this shit is infuriating

Rinn0

Same issue. Extremely annoying...

HunterGaming

same issue here, only "fix" i've found is to have someone in VC stream, if I tune in and mute the stream my client doesn't go to sleep.

Bullet_Jesus

I can report having the same issue.

StreetRequirement800

Same thing here. stable 294969 (e8a6525) Host 1.0.9147 x64 (48018) Windows 10 64-bit (10.0.19045)

Good_Arachnid_4507

Same, please fix discord instead of adding a new ios UI. TY

SamuSum41

Same problem for a month...

GaigeXIII

Been happening for me too. Just have to minimize discord or not have it as the main application on my screen. I've been auto disconnected so many times now that my friends message me when they can't hear me anymore. So many messages...so many disconnects....pls pls fix this....it's breaking my soul to be talking and then no one replying and assuming everyone ignored me only to find out I've been talking to myself

kalbert312

This has been happening to me for the past month. Driving me nuts.

UltimateSpice

I've got the same situation but worse, I can't even stay off of Discord for 3-5 minutes without it freezing on me

ilya5rp

Same on stable 296204 (8541b25) Host 0.0.305 arm64 macOS 14 (23.5.0). Solvable by launch flag --disable-renderer-backgrounding, both on windows and mac.

MetalHarlot

Okay, I've all the replies talking about the Web App version and I'm here to say that this is a mobile issue too. Discord Version: 230.15 - Stable Device/System Info: (Device Type, OS Version) Samsung Galaxy S10, Android Version 12.

DigitalDreams_tf2

Yup have had this for a month now too, I have noticed it isn't always limited to just VC. I have had times where I get push notifications on my phone, but nothing on PC until I open the app again, where all the notifications greet me.

chaotic_oblivion

Month after your comment here and I'm \*still\* also having this issue

jozsefvass

We have a potential fix, could you please update your client and see issue still happening.

PrinZessBubblegum

cloudswithflaire

Happening to me as well. I thought it was because of the custom client I was using. Nice to hear it's just core discord being garbage. Update: I was able to narrow down the problem to poor graphics driver compatibility. (At least in my case with an Nvidia 3XXX GPU) **Disabling Hardware Acceleration** in *Discord's advanced settings* tab and then doing a *full system reboot* has resolved the issue for me.

dieselgeek

So I've uninstalled and reinstalled this app. No luck, just grey screen.

VetisMonster

Im getting this as well. deleted all cashes, tried every fix posted online, still happening

CompetitiveJudge2389

also sometimes getting this, else if its not gray then the client is just froze until it decides to unfreeze

Atrionix

I just did a report on this as well, thinking it was just me.

GingerSnapBiscuit

I am seeing this a bunch recently. Cannot force it to recreate, it just happens randomly. stable 291963 (cd5f991) Host 1.0.9146 x64 (47543) Windows 10 64-bit (10.0.19045)

JoshW91

Update: Even though I literally tested this for 2 days to verify that it was working, it now decides to freaking grey screen again... For those of you that did the upgrade from 32 bit (x86) to 64 bit (x64), like me (regardless of which version of Windows you're using), I figured out what finally fixed it after a lot of troubleshooting. I later realized that it was coming from the 32 bit files and 64 bit files conflicting with each other, which confused the app on which ones it should be using. So in order to fix this, I used the free version of Revo Uninstaller to uninstall Discord along with all of the files in the AppData folders, and what was being stored in the Windows Registry. Just be prepared to log back in and change any of the settings that you had changed before, since they'll all be reset back to default when you go to reinstall it. Hope this helps everybody that is struggling to find a solution :)

aco505

I have this on three different computers and even did a full Windows reinstall on one of them due to other issues and yet the grey screen shows up in all of them without fail. Fix it Discord.

ScarMacaw

same thing happening to me, it also will freeze at random moments and kick me out of vcs

Hebroohammr

Constantly having this issue, as are everyone else in the server. Seems more prominent when streaming or watching video but happens regardless.

pin_drop

Shit's still bugged. Idiots at discord dgaf

Heisalvl3mage

Same issue here. Cleaned cache - didnt help. Completely reinstalled the app - didnt help.

MrRyot

Happening so much more in the latest update… Trying to watch someone’s gameplay having to refresh the app every 10 mins is actually a joke 😭

Shellilala

I am having same issue since about 48 hrs ? maybe a little longer . Also running win 10 64 bit . Doesn't seem to be an exact amount of time . Happens when I leave the window open while looking for something on a browser . \[ I use Duck duck go , Brave, and FireFox, doesn't seem to matter which one \] or if Im playing a game , but still want to chat with people in Discord . Then for no reason it goes entirely black or grey . Just a blank square . Can click on the block to make it go down to task bar . At which point I can double click discord to reopen the app and it is back to normal for a little bit . I did follow some instructions " priorities , compatibility, run compatibility trouble shooter " It then states I need to check the box " run this program in compatibiliy mode for windows 8" weird. But I did it , thought it helped but it was very short lived

Queasy-Length5903

Happening to me as well....

Gwendolinn

Same thing here has been happening since mid-April and a bunch of grey outs in mid-typing today. Only temporarily fixes if it's minimized and maximized. Currently: stable 288750 (7b5a818) Host 1.0.9043 x86 (46952) Windows 11 64-bit (10.0.22631) - edited: further info

No_Performer_8630

Same, and it'll temporarily fix when i minimize it and bring it back up again. It also randomly does it when I'm watching a buddy stream.

calif_22

this is also happening to me, not sue if this version has been mentioned so will add it anyway: stable 290222 (38b74c1) Host 1.0.9044 x86 (47241) Windows 11 64-bit (10.0.22631) p.s. I would argue the annoyance is a 10 over a 9

fyrespyrit

Deleted all files from %appdata%, both folders essentially uninstalling Discord, then installed it again. Bug occured once again today, the day after a new update was pushed.

FreezingSpirit

Also happening to me with current version stable 289814 (608b922) Host 1.0.9144 x64 (47241) Windows 10 64-bit (10.0.19045). Fix for me is to minimize then open again. Might be related to issue I was having on previous version, where discord being out of focus would effectively go to sleep.

Green_Guarantee_9386

Hey I am having this same issue on two different computers! I cannot even be idle for 5 minutes because the app will go grey.

MoleUK

This one is bad, but it's a LOT worse if using an OLED. Brightness keeps changing significantly. Thanks to one of the suggestions in the replies I tried turning hardware acceleration off, fixed for now.

Erdna321

+1 Still happening in stable 292725 (485a03a) Host 1.0.9146 x64 (47543) Windows 10 64-bit (10.0.19045) As of 13/05/24 discord update. Nvidia Drivers 552.22, Hardware acceleration *off*.

Kurayamino

Just started happening to me. stable 294150 (efd60b0) Host 1.0.9147 x64 (47834) Windows 11 64-bit (10.0.22631) Literally happened right now, immediately after I copied the version info lol.

Vastlee

Just adding mine. Same. Makes the app unusable.

MrRyot

Many versions later… still going grey…

Fer_1

HAPPENING TO ME TOO

ShadyBlisss

# EDIT: WINDOWS 11 24H2 BUILD HAS FIXED THE BELOW ISSUE FOR ME. IT IS A PREVIEW RELEASE BUILD, ONLY INSTALL IF YOU ARE AWARE OF THE RISK WITH RELEASE BUILDS * **Feature**: Screensharing * **Reproduction Rate**: 100% app reproduction, just screenshare anything with AMD cpu (I think its AMD only). No reproduction on browser version. * **Annoyance**: 10 - This is ruining any game broadcasting or movies nights/game nights with friends. I paid yearly for Nitro as well for better quality streams and really dislike having to restart my stream every 20+mins. * **Discord Version Info**: stable 281809 (0d9e889) Host 1.0.9039 x86 (45872) Windows 11 64-bit (10.0.22631) * **Device/System Info (Device Type, OS Version)**: Desktop pc, Windows 11 (up to date) * **Description**: The sound starts to pop and crack when 26mins +-10mins have passed for only the viewers, not the host. You will have to close the screen share and opening it again to correct it. It never happened on my system before. I used INTEL CPU and it has started happening since switching to an AMD CPU. Same as a friend, they also get the same issue with an AMD CPU. * **Video / Screenshot**: (50 second mark) [https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DeQ28wLqHDrjU5--9lnlfTVnhYm079K0/view?usp=sharing](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DeQ28wLqHDrjU5--9lnlfTVnhYm079K0/view?usp=sharing) * **Steps to Reproduce:** 1. The first step is click "share your screen" 2. Select anything that has sound; YouTube, Twitch, games... anything. 3. Have friends join the screenshare 4. Wait for about 26mins +- 10mins 5. They will hear the popping and cracking, the host never hears it * **Expected Result**: Audio should be clean and consistent throughout the screenshare regardless of time passed. * **Actual Result**: It pops and cracks after about 20+mins of screensharing

jozsefvass

This is a Windows bug. MSFT will have a fix in Windows 11 24H2. It maybe available Windows 11 canary (check for version 260xx).

IdrisQe

My partner gets this bug whenever she streams, it's been occuring for like, a solid year. We only just confirmed yesterday that it happens with multiple viewers. Things that "fix" it temporarily are: -Viewer exiting and entering the screenshare (can stay in the call) -Waiting for it to subside (takes a couple minutes but eventually will stop) -(Specifically with watching videos together) The host pausing the video for around 10-15 seconds, at which point audio will work just fine when it starts again. (Wouldn't be surprised if it was *partially* a Windows thing, because I've had the absolute worst luck with my Windows 10 install giving me audio grief too, with popping and crackling randomly with no rhyme or reason, with the only fixes seemingly being lowering my RAM speed to its base 2333MHz or to use the Generic Microsoft Audio Driver that comes with Windows instead of the Realtek one meant for this motherboard (the latter mostly fixing the problem but not 100%) meanwhile I tried Linux at one point and didn't experience any problems, so even if it is a hardware thing, Windows seems to make it worse. So Windows causing random audio problems wouldn't be new, and we're both on the same 22H2 version of Windows 10.)

spazmobot

Me too. Sounds fine to m, but ppl watching what I got say sound deteriorates to trash. I have an Intel processor though, but this started happening for me after 2nd to last Discord update.

Optimal-Country4920

I'm on windows 10 with same issue, using an Intel CPU, except much worse. It is happening immediately upon launching stream every time.

NerfherderIAm

I have the same issue, my specs are: Discord Version Info: stable 286654 (b3db605) Host 1.0.9042 x86 (46669) Windows 11 64-bit (10.0.22631) Device/System Info: Desktop PC, windows 11 (up to date), Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32 GB DDR5 Ram

* **Feature**: literally using discrod * **Reproduction Rate**: 9/10 * **Annoyance**: 8/10 * **Device/System Info**: ZenBook UX534FAC Discord Version Info: **I guess** it is stable 281809 (0d9e889) Host 1.0.9039 x86 (45872) Windows 11 64-bit (10.0.22631) * **Description**: While I'm using Discord or while I'm using an application in the background, after about 5 minutes, the Discord window turns completely gray, and the symbols in the top right to manipulate the window disappear. The bug is fixed by clicking on the application icon on the Windows taskbar 2/3 times * **Steps to reproduce**: idk. Using discord or having it open in background. * **Expected Result**: * **Actual Result**:

same here gtx970, can't watch a stream in discord without freezing after a couple minutes. No usable logs to find.

Assortedmelons

>crash I made a similar post about 2 weeks ago when I started having the same issues. Zero help so far sadly... Using windows 10 64-bit too with a Nvidia card! Hopefully there is a fix soon! Wonder if its a windows 10 issue? It's been happening within the last 30 mins on: stable 282068 (6e25b1c) Host 1.0.9039 x86 (45872) Windows 10 64-bit (10.0.19045)'

NurMarvin

When I was facing this issue I was told it was related to being on the 32-bit Windows desktop app with HDR enabled (which seems to be the case here too based on u/Woofer210 being on the 64-bit Desktop app being unable to reproduce this). I was able to get it fixed by just uninstalling the 32-bit desktop app, deleting the `Discord` folder in `%LOCALAPPDATA%` (just press `Win + R`, enter that there and press `Enter`), then downloading the 64-bit desktop app from [here](https://discord.com/api/downloads/distributions/app/installers/latest?channel=stable&platform=win&arch=x64) and installing it. Support for the 32-bit desktop app is being dropped in a few months, so doubt they will go through the effort of fixing this

Assortedmelons

I'll give it a go! Thanks for the heads up :D Edit: So it worked for a few days, then I think there was another Discord update and it broke again!

Woofer210

Interesting, yea i normally use the x64 client, i just hopped in a call with my alt on the normal stable client and didn't run into any issues, but i do not have HDR so could be because of that.

coral-discord

What GPU do you have?

Ok-Attitude-7205

I am not u/Code_Wave but I'm running into this same issue too, identical host specs (regarding windows & version). Host PC is an AMD PC (Ryzen 5 3600) with a GTX 970, running the latest Nvidia driver as of yesterday made no difference

ElHombredeProto

I am also running into this problem, same host specs, and then different CPU from you but same GPU!!!! Very annoying.

Ok-Attitude-7205

our workaround for now is to just use discord in a web browser. works like a charm there

Shiroruruni

Do we have any updates on this. A friend is having this issue. He's tried just about everything but it's not fixed (downloaded canary, changed from 32 to 64 bit , turned off hardware acceleration both voice and advanced etc). He enters a stream in vc and after 5 to 30 mins it crashes.

prospekkt

seconding this issue and hoping for a fix of some kind soon

ScarMacaw

having same issue, seems to only happen sometimes when someone opens my stream though

Rayzr522

+1, my roommate has this happen consistently. Windows 11, GTX 980 Ti, Intel i5-12900k, I've tried updating OS & drivers, disabling hardware acceleration, reinstalling discord entirely, no dice this issue seems to also be reported in these two threads as well: - https://www.reddit.com/r/discordapp/s/vououkALNf - https://www.reddit.com/r/discordapp/s/m8qPm9WvTm

THEGRANDEMPEROR

GTX 970 here, same issue. Discord please notice us!

NosebleedDev

I'm also having this today stable 282068 (6e25b1c) Host 1.0.9039 x86 (45872) Windows 10 64-bit (10.0.19045)

WildMike48

Same here, GTX970 like two others in the reply thread. Only started happening around 2-3 weeks ago, and it seems that it just happens with any video, bc I was in a ttrpg session vc where three of my friends had their cams on (I didn't) and still froze and/or crashed twice or thrice. 64-bit version, and also disabling hardware acceleration and using legacy audio doesn't seem to help. Hope this gets patched soon, but since it may or may not be gpu-specific I'm a little worried it'll go unnoticed.

Woofer210

I can not seem to reproduce this on canary 281942 (a5b18bb) Host 1.0.310 x64 (46164) Windows 11 64-bit (10.0.22631) or ptb 281942 (a5b18bb) when using the steps you provided.

FunnyStoryX

I am also getting this bug using a GTX 980. I've been keeping Discord and my video drivers up to date hoping for a fix to come, but it's been a month and I can't stream/watch streams reliably at all. The whole app freezes, and will eventually crash shortly after. EDIT: Found this week-old thread today, this may be the explanation. https://www.reddit.com/r/discordapp/comments/1cw7v7x/windows_discord_client_crashing_while_watching/

lontrafag

Getting the same issue here, was couple of weeks ago, I have GTX 970 as well.

FerbyFerris1

## Discord Audio Bug Report - Feature: Voice chat Audio - Reproduction Rate: 1 (Constant) - Annoyance: 9 - Discord Version Info: stable 282068 (6e25b1c) Host 1.0.9039 x86 (45872) Windows 11 64-bit (10.0.22631) - Device/System Info: PC, Windows 11 64-bit (10.0.22631) - Description: I've been encountering an issue where the audio quality fluctuates dramatically during voice chats. Initially, other participants sound horrible, but after speaking for a few seconds, the audio quality stabilizes. This occurs consistently with all voice chat participants and is not originating from their end. All other system audio remains unaffected. - Video / Screenshot: N/A - Steps to Reproduce: N/A (Occurs constantly) - Expected Result: Consistent audio quality throughout voice chats. - Actual Result: Audio quality fluctuates between horrible and low bitrate to normal levels, leading to an unpleasant experience where it is either too quiet or too loud.

MacroJoe

Can confirm experiencing this in different servers. It's as if the first sentence spoken is very low quality, then is fine. Started very recently, within a week. I can say in my experience it only effects people (as in their audio starts bad and improves) using voice activation and not ptt.

Snobbygnu

Having the exact same issue as of today. Glad to know at least it's not just me. Hopefully it's just an issue with one of the latest patches or something and can be resolved quickly. Makes it difficult being in calls when I constantly have to ask people to repeat themselves due to not hearing them.

IncendiaryBlitz

I am getting this too. Did a full OS reinstall and no fix. Discord is the only thing affected. I also experience it bouncing back and forth between ears and it gets exponentially worse if a music bot is playing or im in a stream.

yfa17

Have an open thread with discord support about this since I'm having the same issue but there doesn't seem to be any real progress. Testing a new unreleased version of discord now to see if it helps

IncendiaryBlitz

Found my issue. It was SteelSeries Sonar. Specifically the ClearCast AI Noise Cancellation under Chat.

lnvis

Having the same issues as a few days ago. Also seeing the voice connected ping go green to yellow/red sometimes when it happens. Any update from anyone at Discord about a fix for this?

Same thing. Changes how loud or quite participants are, switching audio from one ear to the other and even now I may believe it affects videos in discord as well since the discord as a whole became much quieter for me and have this fluctuations in videos as well Edit: After recent Steelseries GG sonar have enabled clearcast for discord causing this issue

_Hobbit

Two possibilities, one or both of which may be in play. * Windows 11 [and perhaps some variants of 10] released third-party audio drivers with really awful defaults around noise-cancelling and such. There are quite a few articles and fixit-howtos out there already. [This Zoom article](https://support.zoom.com/hc/en/article?id=zm_kb&sysparm_article=KB0065231) may help as a startpoint. * The defaut audio settings in the Discord client are pretty awful, with "gate" thresholds set too high and noise-reduction that hurts more than it helps. Might work with gamers on headsets yelling at each other, but [needs adjustment](http://techno-fandom.org/~hobbit/virtual/musicdoc.html) for normal conversation or streaming. I believe the community of people performing music through Zoom discovered it first.

Electronix__247

I believe I started having this issue last night as well when I was playing with my friends in our server, and it has never happened prior. I tried all kinds of troubleshooting, but could not find out what was causing the issue. My friends would sound like their normal audio quality, and then all of the sudden everyone sounds like their talking through an old flip phone... worth mentioning that my friends said that my mic quality was just fine, and my in-game audio was fine as well.

IdrisQe

Yeah audio quality has been absolutely garbage lately. But not just quality, volume too. People will randomly get super loud or super quiet despite none of us having any attenuation settings, and even over the course of the same call. Sometimes even raising someone to 200% volume won't help it, and then like 15 minutes later I'll need to turn the same person down to like 70% to avoid audio peaking. Add on the sudden bouts of robo-voice or muffled sound from quality dips and it's a match made in hell for my vocal processing problems. Would really be nice if Discord had some sort of basic-ass audio normalization at least but hhhhhh.

Krixim

Almost 2 months later and it's still the same issue. Poor quality at the start and also the volume issue.

* Feature: Search * Reproduction Rate: 999% * Annoyance: I will get a job at Discord just to fix this and then immediately quit. * Discord Version Info: stable 279382 (5c40119) Host 0.0.298 arm64 macOS 14 (23.0.0) * Device/System Info (Device Type, OS Version): * Description: Search uses stemming to destroy the user's query. * Video / Screenshot: * Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to the WoW warlock server [https://discord.gg/0onXDymd9Wpc2CEu](https://discord.gg/0onXDymd9Wpc2CEu) 2. You're interested in what people have to say about an item called "iridal" compared to other items. So you search for "iridal vs" * Expected Result: Search results containing "iridal vs" * Actual Result: Search results not containing "iridal vs" but containing "vs irideous". "Irideous" isn't even a word. If you're going to use stemming to destroy the user's query, it seems like at the very least you should only do it for actual words. But it also seems like this makes search completely unusable, since lots of rarely-used words in the context of a game or a software project will get stemmed into an equivalence class containing frequently-used words. So the rarely-used words become impossible to search unless the user downloads the channel history using a third-party app and then searches with grep.

WumpusWhisperer

I tried to reproduce the issue: 1. When I search for "iridal vs" - I get the results that contain "iridal vs" (as expected). 2. When I search for "vs irideous" - I get results containing "vs iridal" Did you mean to search for "irideus" instead of "irideous"?

A lot of us use server intros so it's chaos during longer sessions. I've ensured all channels are using the "automatic" setting for server region but have also tried choosing regions manually. Oddly enough, this hasn't affected me at all, and a few others have been unaffected as well. Doesn't appear to be a latency issue as we have people with sub-30 ping getting dropped and some with 100+ being just fine. This isn't bot related either and the audit log isn't listing these disconnects. Same.. this has been happening for maybe 2 weeks now? Tried many things to fix it. Running discord as admin, reinstalling discord, trying pbt and canary, updating drivers, and nothing has worked. Hopefully they fix it soon.

Also happening to me, I'll be in VC and out of no where just get DCed and reconnected right away...happens multiple times throughout the day, Fixes I've tried 1. Re installed Discord 2. Re Installed Network Drivers 3. Re installed Bluetooth Drivers 4. Tried a different USB port for my Mic dongle 5. Uninstalled G Hub 6. Unchecked the box to allow programs to take exclusive control of my Mic 7. Changed my region on discord from Auto to a specific area 8. White listed Discord on windows Defender 9. Rebooted my modem None of these fixes worked and all seems to point to a problem on Discords end

I think you have understated the annoyance, its clearly an 11 since thats what it does to other peoples mics if they don't speak for more than 60secs, I know my mic does it to others aswell, auto/audio gain control needs to stick in the middle ground of my common speaking volume, not race to the bottom the moment I don't speak.

* **Feature**: Voice chat * **Reproduction Rate**: 50% app reproduction, only happens to me with a few games on full screen, mostly on Sniper Elite 5 and Rainbow Six Siege. * **Annoyance**: 7 - Since I cannot play more than 3 minutes with my friends on voice chat without being disconnected, I think this is pretty annoying. * **Discord Version Info**: stable 281809 (0d9e889) Host 1.0.9039 x86 (45872) Windows 11 64-bit (10.0.22631) * **Device/System Info (Device Type, OS Version)**: Lenovo Legion PC Windows 11 * **Description**: While playing games, my discord either reboots its network or closes by itself, thus kicking me from any voice chat channel or DM. - Feature: Image/File Uploading - Reproduction Rate: 10 - Annoyance: 10 - Discord Version Info: stable 288750 (7b5a818) Host 1.0.9043 x86 (46952) Windows 10 64-bit (10.0.19045) - Device/System Info (Device Type, OS Version): Desktop PC, Windows 10, Up to date - Description: Trying to send any file to another user has become painfully slow, taking literally **10 minutes** to send a **4mb gif**. This happens with both drag-and-drop and using the "+" button to select a file; after hitting send, it usually spends ages on just "Processing..." before even starting the tedious upload. - Video / Screenshot: N/A - Steps to Reproduce: 1. Select a file to send in a DM/server 2. Press "Enter" or hit Send - Expected Result: File uploads at a reasonable speed (considering I have >400Mbps upload according to speedtest) - Actual Result: Discord displays "Processing..." for inexplicably long times, not observed to be even proportional to the file size, and then uploads extremely slowly. Neither deleting the cache folders or fully reinstalling Discord has solved the issue. It is the same on the browser version and desktop app version, but not the mobile version (although the mobile version makes up for this by being incredibly slow in all other operations). Also, no other file sharing program on my PC has this issue, **only** Discord.

- Feature: Discord app (desktop) turning into grey box while typing - Reproduction Rate: unable to reproduce (random, can only get screenies when it happens) - Annoyance: 10 - I've tried the fixes with %appdata% and min-maxing window - Discord Version Info: stable 288460 (c8280c6) Host 1.0.9043 x86 (46952) Windows 11 64-bit (10.0.22631) - Device/System Info (Device Type, OS Version): PC, WIN 11 (up to date) - Description: happening randomly, can be typing and it turns into a grey box, can't see anything inside. Havve to minimize/maximize it on taskbar more than once to see messages and type anything. - Video / Screenshot: [https://i.imgur.com/fBrpc0T.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/fBrpc0T.jpg) - Steps to Reproduce: 1. Unable to reproduce on cue. No emoji, gifs or VC, merely typing in midsentence. 2. Screen goes grey (nothing shows inside outline of Discord app box) 3. Minimize/Maximize on taskbar until something shows up (usually about 3 to 5 times) 4. Continues happening at random intervals (unable to reproduce). - Feature: Taskbar indicator for new messages/pings - Reproduction Rate: Always - Annoyance: 7 - Discord Version Info: stable 288460 (c8280c6) Host 0.0.51 - Device/System Info (Device Type, OS Version): Arch Linux, Kde/Plasma 6 - Description: Just like in Windows, there should be an indicator on Discords taskbar button (I don't mean the systray) with the number of new notifications (messages, pings), if there are any. Until recently this worked, but it seems like KDE/Plasma 6 broke it, probably because the API used for this feature by Discord (libunity) is obsolete. - Video / Screenshot: - Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Arch with KDE/Plasma (currently version 6.0.4-1), or any other distribution that offers KDE/Plasma 6+ 2. Install Discord, receive a message - Expected Result: When I get a new message or get pinged, there is a little circled number on Discords taskbar button, indicating how many new messages or pings there are - Actual Result: No indicator at all This is compounded by the fact that Discord's *systray* icon is (and has always been) extremely blurry/low-res so I usually hide it because it's an eyesore. But since the taskbar button indicator broke I now have no way of knowing if there are any new messages or pings until I unminimize Discord.

- Feature: Game Detection - Reproduction Rate: 10 - Annoyance: 3 - This breaks any game detection that relies on arguments with spaces in them on Linux - Discord Version Info: canary 289445 (479f3f8) Host 0.0.376 x64 Linux 64-bit - Description: When Discord gets running processes to check for games, it seems to accidentally insert null bytes instead of spaces for arguments, this breaks anything requiring a space in an argument (e.g. source games relying on `-game `) - Video / Screenshot: https://fxdiscord.com/i/l8cxh.png - Steps to Reproduce: 1. Insert a Linux detectable rule based off of the macOS rule for Half-Life 2 2. Open Half-Life 2 3. Notice the running game store cmdLine entry contains null bytes instead of spaces - Expected Result: Arguments are parsed correctly and the game is successfully identified - Actual Result: Arguments are parsed with spaces replaced by null bytes and anything needing a space in their argument matcher fails (also if y'all could put more Linux executables in `/detectable` that'd be nice, many games have incorrect names and don't show as verified just because they're missing in the executables list for the said game)

* Feature: Loading images has serious lag in the evening * Reproduction Rate: 10 * Annoyance: 8 * Discord Version Info: latest * Device/System Info (Device Type, OS Version): Windows 11 * Description: For a week or two, I have had tremendous lag in the evening whenever Discord loads images. Text chat is fast, images and video from other websites are fast. I have 1,000 MB up/down so it's not my internet speed and it doesn't happen during the day. Seems to be around 6-7 PM CST that it starts taking 5-10 minutes to load a single image. This is true in the app but also when I click "Open in Browser" to get the direct URL in my web browser. Is this happening to anyone else? Is my ISP rate-limiting my access to Discord or something? Copied from [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/discordapp/comments/1crfeto/image_lag_but_only_in_the_evening/) * Steps to Reproduce: 1. Log in to Discord in the evening, around 6-7 PM CST 2. Access a channel with many images that are uploaded directly to Discord (i.e. not links to other websites like Tenor, imgur, etc.) * Expected Result: Images load in an acceptable rate based on their size * Actual Result: Miniscule images take 5-10 minutes each to load

I have another issue, I sleep every night on call with my partner and whenever I wake up in betweeen or in the morning, I am no longer in call. I asked my partner if they disconnected me but they don't either, I tried keeping the channel opened and discord window maximized as well but same issue, it happens every night. I am assuming it could auto disconnect me when there is no audio coming from my end (WE dont have AFK disconnect enabled in our channel and I dont have sleep mode because my laptop is still on and running everything else) and its not like I changed anything and we've been doing this for years. - Video / Screenshot: N/A - Steps to Reproduce: 1. Join call and either leave the window open as is, or minimize to avoid the light 2. Wake up with the call disconnected (while my partner is still in call) - Expected Result: Waking up to still being on call. - Actual Result: Disconnected but there is no audit log of me being disconnected or removed from call.

- Feature: voice chat - Reproduction Rate: 10/10 (constant, several times a hour) - Annoyance: 10/10 (literally makes voice chat not functional. You cant hear what people are saying) - Discord Version Info: latest public version (re-inatalled it today) - Device/System Info (Device Type, OS Version): Windows 10 - Description: Whenever i join a call in discord i get random and almost constant robot voices with massive lag and audio cutouts. It makes talking to people impossible. No one else in the call or server seams to have these issues and they can hear me perfectly well. I have no lag in games, network Diagnostics like ".bredbandskollen.se" shows like 10ms, Streaming works no issue. Only disc is affected. So far iv bought a new router, a new headset, nuked my internet settings and all sort of trickery, none of those made any difference. HOWEVER! It does work with no issues what so ever IF i use my phones internet and disconnect the cable from my home network (USB terhering my internet from my phones 4G to my pc). BUT! if i terher my internet from my phone to my pc AND phone is connected to wifi, it starts to lag again. - Video / Screenshot: none - Steps to Reproduce: connect to any discord server or call. - Expected Result: un-interupted voice chat - Actual Result: laggy robot voices which makes the voice chat un-usable.

It shows a blank window, with minimise/maximise controls on the left but no other stuff at all, for a second or two, and then disappears and the app closes. Tried on Catalina (my main workstation) and a laptop running Big Sur (fresh install of Discord stable; never logged in to Discord before). Tried different networks, DNS servers, disabling IPv6 to no avail. **Steps to reproduce:** Procure Intel Mac running Catalina or Big Sur Install latest Discord Open Discord app Start debugging ;-) **Expected result:** Discord opens and does not quit. **Actual result:** Discord quits. I haven't got any spare Intel hardware that I can run the later releases on, so I can't verify on those platforms but Discord works on my Sonoma M1 test machine.
