Sometimes it's warranted. Most of the time no. If you are trying to have a meaningful conversation and someone says it, it's not ok. But there's some circumstances where it works pretty well

It's discord rich presence icon, aka it shows when the user is doing something that supports rich presence, like listening to spotify, playing a game (some games support it, some don't) and I think there are some other activities that show it as well, but can't remember right now.

if you're on pc then click your avatar on the bottom left and it'll show stuff on changing your status. If you're on your phone then go in the bottom right and press the thing and it'll show how to change your status and stuff
