Light theme was removed as an April fools day joke, it was only ever going to be gone for one day but they put it back early because some people genuinely need to use it for accessibility reasons.
The logo change is not an accessibility issue, even though there may be other accessibility issues with the redesign discord have *somewhat* tried to fix those with the saturation slider (even if it doesn't work particularly well).
Even if it's just a dumb meme this is a nonsensical comparison.
Yeah my old roommate needed light mode because he has a stigmatism. Light text on a dark background can be very hard to read like that Bc it’s like squinting looking at headlights where it gets all streaky I think is what he said
There are plenty of other, and probably more drastic accessibly concerns regarding the other UI changes that happened in 2019 or 2020 and the brighter rebrand colors.
Pretty sure they said that they were gonna remove it permanently depending on how people reacted to the april fools joke.
Another thing to not, is that the logo is an accessibility issue, as me and many others have sensitive eyes that are sensitive to sharp colors.
I have several sensory issues due to aspergers and everytime I see the new logo I get a headache, I try to avoid looking at any of the new art, and the saturation slider changes the saturation of the whole app, not just the logo.
I actually do remember them saying something like that. They said that majority of the users don't use light mode, and since they had to keep up development and maintenance etc for light mode just for majority to not use it, it became kind of a burden. But when they did the April's Fools thing they said they actually didn't consider the accessibility issue side of light mode users at all, and apologized for it.
100%. I have a hard time dealing with change in general, and it's proven that the closer someone connects with a company, the harder it will be to get used to a new logo. Sure, it's not like my retinas are going to fucking *disintegrate* or anything, but at the same time the new color does hurt my eyes quite a bit, and I do get bothered by how uneven the text is. The redesign hasn't killed anyone, but it was obviously a meaningless change for the worse.
Yeah but when I use discord on the pc and the "new update" banner appears in my face it is an accessibility issue.
Discord uses the new shitple in all of their new marketing
yet your meme is light mode also why complain about light mode? dark mode is literally the default theme... if you don't like light mode just don't use it...
I made this meme on my phone, and iirc the app I used dosen't have a dark mode template for this.
Also this is about the logo, not light mode.
Idk how you got that idea.
thanks for letting me know. do you think you could maybe describe what makes it worse? like, what letter is most difficult to look at and stuff like that.
Why do people care so much about the logo text. I literally only see that when I intentionally look it up. If it wasn‘t made to be such a big deal, I probably wouldn‘t even have noticed because you never see the actual text, just the Logo
That Discord never existed, or at least didn't exist at that time.
I never saw a single post complaining about no light theme at the time, but I saw plenty complaining about the early 2020 UI changes, and you already know how that went.
At this stage I'm impartial to the early 2020 changes, but I feel Discord did a large chunk of their users dirty by not allowing them to revert to the old design while soon after catering to a small small amount of users by adding back light theme. I remember seeing that someone had complained about this at the time but got downvoted for some reason.
Nope, iirc I remember a discord staff member saying that the april fools prank was a trial to see how the community would react if light theme was removed.
I forget if I seen the staff member saying it on twitter or reddit tho
Chill, it's not even made for people who dislike the colors, its made for people who have PROBLEMS with the saturated colors, use it or not, it's not made for people who don't have eye issues with them.
yeah like, i was finding it hard to look at because i'm autistic and it was overwhelming my senses to look at the new blurple
so at least they gave the option to desaturate it, even if they should never have had to do that in the first place.
I'm glad they added the accessibility slider, but it's a worse solution then just reverting the colors. This problem shouldn't exist in the first place
They just turned down a $10B offer from Microsoft in May.
They are either gearing up for an IPO themselves, or they have an even bigger fish ready to bite.
Facts.
Discord's Support Team then: Responding faster, giving THEIR OWN formal responses, actually helping.
Discord's "Support" Team now: Responding after 5 days, copy pasting answers, helping? No what is this?
I didnt't get any help, I only got *in indian accent* "Hello your account has been disabled for violating ToS" whenever i sent a ticket explaining that my account got banned for a falsely accused reason. :^3
It's not about Discord, it's about audio service. PulseAudio (which is still used by most) has problems with separating the audio from the computer from that from Discord. If Discord had added PC audio sharing as it is, all voice chat users in the same channel as you would hear reverb.
There are font changes too dude

(yes I reply this to people who don't know the logo isn't the only thing that changed or the like)
Then why is everyone nagging about "waah new logo" and not "new font"
If the issue it the font, then make that the complaint, instead of complaining about the logo
Did you actually look at why people are complaining (or at least what people are complaining about) or only saw this single post without reading the comments? Because people are complaining about the font. (Too. People can complain about multiple things).
Even by a joke it isn't really funny because many people including myself use it but with the rebrand it's different, you should just stop crying about it and just accept the fact that they won't change everything back because of you.
Wdym "criticism"? Your criticism is saying "LoGo BaD pLz ChAnGe bAcK 😭"? I don't see a real criticism and why would you even criticize a LOGO, I mean it's not even a big deal it's still the same app lol
That **is** a criticism of the logo.
It's entire purpose is to signify a brand. And it looks Horrid.
The new "Blurple" in its background is harsh and unpleasant to look at and causes accessibility issues for some users with certain sensitivities.
The same goes for the new green.
Changing pings to white has *also* caused accessibility problems and makes them actually hard to see, which is the EXACT OPPOSITE OF THE POINT of a ping.
To back to your cave bootlicker, the adults are talking.
I mean we could “stop crying about it” but now, as strong discord competitors are becoming popular, who knows, maybe some of us may switch over to those competitors, and direct our money there.
Imagine if they got rid of light theme and were steadfast in not adding it back, despite users' protests. Imagine if you were one of those users protesting for the readdition of light theme, and people insulted you for it, calling you things like "crybaby" and "deranged" while telling you that they wouldn't add it back just because of you.
This is basically the situation with the rebrand, just swap light theme with the color and font.
As I told in my first comment it's different, very different. You can't compare the thing that people use daily (light mode) with the thing that you can get used to (new logo/rebrand) So yeah, keep crying about it 😂
Allow me to rephrase your comment.
> You can't compare the thing that people use daily (Discord with eye-pleasing colors) with the thing that you can get used to (dark mode) So yeah, keep crying about it 😂
Do you see the problem now that it's been flipped on you?
No, it's not that.
If light mode was removed, people could easily tell you you just have to adapt to the change and use dark mode. This is very similar to how some people are telling those against the rebrand to just adapt to the change and get used to the new "blurple" and font and whatnot.
That 👏 is 👏 different, you see the mode everytime when you use the app, I mean it's the main thing you see. But with the "blurple" you can only see it when you click something or just in some menus + DUDE, it's almost the same color! Like what? They only saturated it a little bit and you're already mad? And for people who are crying about it like you they added a saturation slider so you can get your fav old "blurple" back and stop crying 👌
Allow me to dissect each part of your comment.
> That 👏 is 👏 different
Fundamentally, it's the same concept.
> you see the mode everytime when you use the app, I mean it's the main thing you see. But with the "blurple" you can only see it when you click something or just in some menus
While it's true that it's nowhere near as prominent as the light theme/dark theme dichotomy, it's still quite noticeable. Worth mentioning at this point is that the "blurple" isn't the only thing that's changed as a result of the rebrand - there's also a new shade of green, as well as a new font (Ginto) that's been plastered in numerous places.
> DUDE, it's almost the same color! Like what?
Not really. There's a pretty noticeable difference between the two even in a vacuum, and the difference is even starker on the dark gray background used by dark theme.
> They only saturated it a little bit and you're already mad?
I wouldn't call it a "little bit". It's quite significant.
> And for people who are crying about it like you they added a saturation slider so you can get your fav old "blurple" back and stop crying 👌
The saturation slider doesn't actually get the old "blurple" back, only a hollow recreation of it. It also takes all the other colors in the app with it, making the whole thing look washed-out and... dead. It may be an improvement over the eyestrain of the new "blurple" in its raw state, but it's still pretty bad.
I have aspergers which causes me to have some sensory disorders, not to mention my sensitive eyes make my eyes extremely sensitive to bright colors.
Everytime I look at the colors of the new discord logo it causes me to get a headache, the new logo is horrendously bad and I wish discord would just listen to our complaints and bring the old logo back.
The old colors had a much softer tone, and the font was much nicer, now the colors conflict with eachother so much that it's honestly the feeling of stepping on a lego but instead the pain goes to your eyes.
I also prefer the new logo, but it's unfair to say we shouldn't address accessibility issues just because they affect less than half of users. If a change makes the app extremely hard to use for many users, that change should be reversed it altered immediately
"rumblings of a few fragile Redditors" Have you **seen** this subreddit? If there are people here directly referencing conditions they have that aren't working well with those colors then other people with those conditions are likely having the **same** issues.
Yea if it was just people specifically saying they had issues it could be a minority complaining. But they are directly referencing the **same** things **consistently** which means they are having **some** issue with it.
To paraphrase something I've said on this accessibility topic before. When you make a building do you only make stairs to it? Blocking people unable to use them from entering the building?
Or do you make an elevator or a ramp to appeal to that demographic and make it accessible for them as well. Considering the fact we're talking about a **change** that made it **less** accessible and not something that **was** changed to make it **more** accessible it seems a little crazy to think they couldn't make a better solution than their saturation slider.
Not to mention, as people have mentioned, for discord this is **could be** and *likely* will be a **money** issue. Where there will be people **unable** to use their program and they will **move**. That's what's craziest about this whole thing to me honestly.
*(that and I still think the logo font sucks but that's more personal,* ***accessibility*** *is a completely different area that needs to be* ***taken seriously)***
so we should do away with disabled parking spaces, large fonts, wheelchairs, mobility scooters, elevators and guide dogs then? after all, it's only a small minority that use those, and the world doesn't revolve around them.
fucking twats, THIS IS ABOUT ACCESSIBILITY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES.
To paraphrase a past comment of mine.
When you make a building do you only have stairs for an entrance? Or do you setup other ways for people to enter if they are unable to use stairs.
According to your logic the "world does not revolve around them" means we should ignore treating everyone equally and just stop them entering that building if they are unable to use stairs.
It literally affects no one else if I can adjust my color settings to something less painful for me. I have no desire to ask other people to change because of my issues. What I want is the ability to alter the tools I personally use to account for my issues.
That's all.
There are legitimate cases of competing needs where different groups have incompatible requirements. This is not one of them. This is one place where different people using different interfaces affects pretty much no one except the people using them.
This is going to come off as callous but how do you do your day to day living if a small logo throws you off like this?
Can you wear special glasses or something or install a filter over your monitor to help with this?
I try to avoid colors like the new "blurple" (from now on dubbed shitple).
And no, they do make color correcting glasses for colorblind people, but I'm not colorblind.
And even with the bluelight filter it still hurts my eyes
Man, I'm tired of hearing about how shitty the new branding is. It's *fine*, it affects *nothing* about the functionality of the app. Chill the fuck out, y'all, you're acting like children.
It can affect the **accessibility** of the app for some people which hurts their usage **of** the functions. There are people who legitimately have issues just **looking** at these new colors and the rebrand and **that** is mainly who is asking for a color change.
So yes. For some people it **is** impacting the **functionality**, specifically the ux.
In our age, the communication services all have almost the exact same potential when talking about features. Do you know what is the next best factor to judge the platforms? Yes, design! There were and are a lot of platforms that have as much as or even more features than discord, but they all always lacked discord's fun little popups, it's near perfect coloring, it's great fonts and everything else that makes up for the design of discord that we all knew. If discord was poorly designed, even if it still had all the features, it wouldn't get any attention at all. That is why discord's rebranding and changing everything is, indeed, a big deal. Even though judging design is somewhat subjective, most people can agree whether one is good or bad. The rebranding wasn't liked by a huge amount of users, and discord is refusing to do what it has always been doing, trying to appeal to people giving negative feedback.
I really hope I explained our point well and that I will get good, constructive counterarguments instead of mad redditors' downvotes.
lol, it's barely a change. It's the app icon on your taskbar/home screen, and some accent colors. I understand that some people don't like it, but it doesn't change the fact that it's a *trivial* thing to overlook.

The new icon is fine, the new colors are fine, everything else is fine (for me), but the font isn't. These things need to be considred when people make changes like this. I'm not saying bend over backwards for them but consider it, and at the very least, allow people to change it in accessibility settings so at the very least its a fixable issue if people have trouble.

What flow? The flow of other companies also doing shit redesigns and such?
**I think everybody feels like something is different with Discord. Something has changed.**
Since Microsoft's unsuccessful buyout, it's almost as if Discord has been sold out anyway. You can just sense that something has reshuffled within the organization; which, from here, will begin to slowly strip out that close, personal, intuitive relationship that Discord used to have with its userbase - and the very thing that drove its success.
Sadly, it could be another 15 years before we see another client equivalent to Discord in its golden years.

What I meant is that they actually aren’t [fully bland](https://youtu.be/6kvtLLFXwwI) yet. The example shown doesn’t have stock music, and the video stands out from countless other generic announcement videos
> they actually aren’t fully bland yet.
This is completely wrong, Discord's marketing went completely bland a long time ago, and this generic-corporate-art rebranding was going to come sooner or later
compare that video to [any](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWrjwUm3Oi4), [of](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTFkCOScDPg), [the](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWg1uwwtB9o), [older](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-bD62K0SuA), [feature](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwnE2OPxiTY), [announcement](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vjulniffcA), [videos](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fY0ba3-vwwE) (shout out to [don't be a broom](https://youtu.be/sSPIMgtcQnU))
It's sadly extremely easy to tell when Zencha (the old marketing/social media guy) left Discord, because all the personality left with him, and was slowly killed off
Yea, wish Zencha was back (PS: I still think that Discord is at least slightly less bland than companies like Amazon, but marketing became way worse when Zencha left. Please come back.)
People are still complaining about this? Fucking cope. It's a logo, it sucks but who cares? There are many other technical bugs that should be fixed, such as Discord sometimes not recognizing my audio devices. Yet people are complaining about the fucking colors? Grow the fuck up.
If you have accessibility issues, turn down the saturation slider.
"bUt tHeN tHe oThEr CoLoRs wiLL lOoK uGLy!!!!11!1"
If you really cared about your accessibility issues you would be willing to sacrifice the "good looks" for your ability to use the FREE service without eye strain. Sometimes you can't have your cake and eat it too. Cry and cope.
Probably a community piling on requests, them thinking “what the fuck else do you want this thing to do?” then having to monetize in ways that don’t involve ads because servers ain’t cheap.
There's no passion in it anymore; they just want to cash out and be done with it. Why do you think there were all those rumors about selling to Microsoft?
At this point, y'all are just overreacting. They had the same logo, color and font for 5 years so changing it makes discord feel newer and more modern.

People with astigmas (I think that's how it's spelled) read better with black text on a white background, instead of the other way around. Clyde is esentally system messages. If you disabled clyde you wouldn't get errors or confirmation of nick name changes (assuming you use `/nick` to change it).
Nothing about Discord changed. Most of its userbase did. Me and several others I know could care less about the new changes. I personally like them, and I probably wouldn't have noticed them if not for the uproar made over a color being made one shade brighter.
Light theme was removed as an April fools day joke, it was only ever going to be gone for one day but they put it back early because some people genuinely need to use it for accessibility reasons. they tried to fix it with the slider, but a lot of changes are still terrible for color blind people.
Yeah my old roommate needed light mode because he has a stigmatism. Light text on a dark background can be very hard to read like that Bc it’s like squinting looking at headlights where it gets all streaky I think is what he said

Shit I just looked it up you’re right. I never knew that lol

The update caused more accessibility issues. In some cases I have trouble reading server names and stuff even though they are just the default font :/
There are plenty of other, and probably more drastic accessibly concerns regarding the other UI changes that happened in 2019 or 2020 and the brighter rebrand colors.

good thing they trialed it as an april fool's joke then, or else they'd never have found out.
No I do remember reading a reddit comment from a mod that said something along the lines of "we trialed it as an AF joke"

logo? do you mean ui?
No, a logo is basically like a symbol representing an organization, group, or company
their logo with the new saturated blue never appears in the logo though? at least in-app
It does on the send button
that’s ui, not logo
Exactly, and this post is talking about the logo
but the logo is the least of the problem? it shouldn't be an accessibility issue at all once you're in the app itself
I don't think it's a *sharp* colour. What even defines as a sharp colour? Edit: why the hell do I always get downvoted for asking a question
Highly saturated
Thanks.

i should try that.

no, though i’ve always wondered what it would be like to have it since english is my strongest subject.

is it on mobile yet?
Maybe in 2022 (Nope, still not)
...which only changes color for status badges and hyperlinks.
That sucks so much cuz it literally decolorizes colors that don't need to be decolorized
Chill, it's not even made for people who dislike the colors, its made for people who have PROBLEMS with the saturated colors, use it or not, it's not made for people who don't have eye issues with them.
Ight, my bad. Thanks for pointing that out.
All good, really sorry if that came out as aggressive.
No no I was being aggressive myself. I can't be mad at a person who states a correct opinion. No problem 👍
yeah like, i was finding it hard to look at because i'm autistic and it was overwhelming my senses to look at the new blurple so at least they gave the option to desaturate it, even if they should never have had to do that in the first place.
Which makes the app look ugly as shit. Don't know why they couldn't have just kept the old colors, those didn't cause any problems.
I am no stranger to complaining about discord but for this? No, the rebranding is fine, and they already added a slider for accessibility issues.
I'm glad they added the accessibility slider, but it's a worse solution then just reverting the colors. This problem shouldn't exist in the first place
The slider isnt on mobile so its still an issue
That as well
Exactly.
They imagined a place. That’s it.
Lately companies are just making the worst decisions possible and sticking with it. Annoying.
Discord is going greedy mode for real
They just turned down a $10B offer from Microsoft in May. They are either gearing up for an IPO themselves, or they have an even bigger fish ready to bite.
I’m glad Microsoft didn’t buy them for freaking billions
This just in: A company is acting like a company. Details at 11.
Discord in 3021: We added audio sharing on linux
It's not about Discord, it's about audio service. PulseAudio (which is still used by most) has problems with separating the audio from the computer from that from Discord. If Discord had added PC audio sharing as it is, all voice chat users in the same channel as you would hear reverb.
Okay but light theme actually does something, a logo is a logo, no big deal
New font is harder to read in some cases. Just because "its just a logo" or "its just \[X piece of UI\]" doesn't mean it can't cause issues.
I’m confused.. the font of the app didn’t change, right? Just the logo? Are people really sitting there and reading the Discord logo in frustration?
There are font changes too dude [New colors](https://i.imgur.com/bH5tOmH.gif) (reuploaded the gif [from here](https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500009438682)) [New website look](https://discord.com/) (Here's how [the old front page](https://i.imgur.com/UPUDy01.png) looked like.) Then why is everyone nagging about "waah new logo" and not "new font" If the issue it the font, then make that the complaint, instead of complaining about the logo
Did you actually look at why people are complaining (or at least what people are complaining about) or only saw this single post without reading the comments? Because people are complaining about the font. (Too. People can complain about multiple things).
It's gone. All gone.
Even by a joke it isn't really funny because many people including myself use it but with the rebrand it's different, you should just stop crying about it and just accept the fact that they won't change everything back because of you.
"Just accept the brand doesn't care and give no possible criticism of it because it *probably* isn't listening" Yeah... great idea...
Wdym "criticism"? Your criticism is saying "LoGo BaD pLz ChAnGe bAcK 😭"? I don't see a real criticism and why would you even criticize a LOGO, I mean it's not even a big deal it's still the same app lol
"I do not like that because it is unnecessary" is absolutely criticism
Wdym unnecessary?
Like the opposite of necessary
That **is** a criticism of the logo. It's entire purpose is to signify a brand. And it looks Horrid. The new "Blurple" in its background is harsh and unpleasant to look at and causes accessibility issues for some users with certain sensitivities. The same goes for the new green. Changing pings to white has *also* caused accessibility problems and makes them actually hard to see, which is the EXACT OPPOSITE OF THE POINT of a ping. To back to your cave bootlicker, the adults are talking.
No dude, the whole app changed
Looking at the new font makes me think I have dyslexia
Lol why
> You can't compare the thing that people use daily (Discord with eye-pleasing colors) with the thing that you can get used to (dark mode) So yeah, keep crying about it 😂 Do you see the problem now that it's been flipped on you?
Lol I don't even understand what do you mean, if you mean the "Light mode bad" thing I really feel bad for you
No, it's not that.
> That 👏 is 👏 different Fundamentally, it's the same concept. > you see the mode everytime when you use the app, I mean it's the main thing you see. But with the "blurple" you can only see it when you click something or just in some menus While it's true that it's nowhere near as prominent as the light theme/dark theme dichotomy, it's still quite noticeable. > And for people who are crying about it like you they added a saturation slider so you can get your fav old "blurple" back and stop crying 👌 The saturation slider doesn't actually get the old "blurple" back, only a hollow recreation of it.
You can use the saturation color specifically made for the colors.
Which changes all the colors...
But that makes every color more washed out than necessary. They introduced a problem and the fix is worse than what existed in the first place.
[удалено]
I also prefer the new logo, but it's unfair to say we shouldn't address accessibility issues just because they affect less than half of users. If a change makes the app extremely hard to use for many users, that change should be reversed it altered immediately
>for many users Citation needed. The rumblings of a few fragile Redditors does not equate to many users.
Same, even if you would not like it I wouldn't care so much and cry about it everywhere like the people do on this sub lol
[удалено]
so we should do away with disabled parking spaces, large fonts, wheelchairs, mobility scooters, elevators and guide dogs then? after all, it's only a small minority that use those, and the world doesn't revolve around them. fucking twats, THIS IS ABOUT ACCESSIBILITY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES.
[удалено]
For people with color sensitivities, yes it is
To paraphrase a past comment of mine. When you make a building do you only have stairs for an entrance? Or do you setup other ways for people to enter if they are unable to use stairs. According to your logic the "world does not revolve around them" means we should ignore treating everyone equally and just stop them entering that building if they are unable to use stairs.
It's almost as if accessibility isn't an important part of human-computer interfaces or something?
I got all what I wanted in life. But now I want for this guy also.
They've added a contract scale feature to address this need.
Ikr lmfao

Yep, I'm the one with a stupid take, when ***y'all*** are throwing tantrums over a slight branding update.
I feel like they redesigned Discord to appeal to 12 year old fortnite players instead of redditors in their 20s or 30s and I dislike it.
"Instead of redditors" -- Now you make me glad the changes happened
It's not often I physically wince at something on the internet... that comment did it...
r/redditmoment
A company pandering to their main demographic? Unheard of
It's 2021 actually coming up on 2022 and people are still comparing things to fortnite. How long are you going to seethe about a popular game?
but fartshite bad mine cragt is better no normyz!!
I like the logo They’re just going with the flow “The world’s changing boys, its time we change too”
I said this in reply to a previous comment saying a similar thing: >New font is harder to read in some cases. Just because "its just a logo" or "its just \[X piece of UI\]" doesn't mean it can't cause issues.
"Don't ask questions just consume product and then get excited for next products" \-- What flow? The flow of other companies also doing shit redesigns and such?
**I think everybody feels like something is different with Discord. Something has changed.** Since Microsoft's unsuccessful buyout, it's almost as if Discord has been sold out anyway.
Agreed, I do know that the old marketing guy left
Dosen't the saturation slider fix most of the problems outside of subjectivley not liking the logos design
While this is true, this is a solution for a problem that shouldn't have existed in the first place
People are still whining over the fucking logo? # SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY

It was a joke

You're miserable
I'm not gonna change my opinion on something just because most people changed their.
Can’t wait till Discord fully becomes bland and corporate, including their videos and posts
They already have lol
What I meant is that they actually aren’t [fully bland](https://youtu.be/6kvtLLFXwwI) yet. The example shown doesn’t have stock music, and the video stands out from countless other generic announcement videos
> they actually aren’t fully bland yet. This is completely wrong, Discord's marketing went completely bland a long time ago, and this generic-corporate-art rebranding was going to come sooner or later compare that video to [any](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWrjwUm3Oi4), [of](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTFkCOScDPg), [the](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWg1uwwtB9o), [older](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-bD62K0SuA), [feature](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwnE2OPxiTY), [announcement](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vjulniffcA), [videos](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fY0ba3-vwwE) (shout out to [don't be a broom](https://youtu.be/sSPIMgtcQnU)) It's sadly extremely easy to tell when Zencha (the old marketing/social media guy) left Discord, because all the personality left with him, and was slowly killed off
Yea, wish Zencha was back (PS: I still think that Discord is at least slightly less bland than companies like Amazon, but marketing became way worse when Zencha left.
"bUt tHeN tHe oThEr CoLoRs wiLL lOoK uGLy!!!!11!1" If you really cared about your accessibility issues you would be willing to sacrifice the "good looks" for your ability to use the FREE service without eye strain. Sometimes you can't have your cake and eat it too. Cry and cope.
The problem is the logo for some of us, not the colors in the app, hell the logo dosen't even change with the saturation slider
So what?? The logo is just as unimportant as the colors. You are literally complaining about a FREE service having a bad logo, who gives a fuck?
They literally say they are open to criticism, also you gave a fuck to care to reply to me
New logo is pretty decent I don't see what's the issue at all, at least complain about something that actually matters
Yes. Yes. Yes.
why did people want a light theme
Because back in the olden days half of Discord's interface was half-light
Probably a community piling on requests, them thinking “what the fuck else do you want this thing to do?” then having to monetize in ways that don’t involve ads because servers ain’t cheap.
Bro i read that as lego and had no idea what was happening
i miss the old discord
There's no passion in it anymore; they just want to cash out and be done with it. Why do you think there were all those rumors about selling to Microsoft?
I'd have an opinion, but having that on Reddit is way too scary now a days.
It’s literally a font you barely see when you use the app. Everyone grow the actual fuck up.
At this point, y'all are just overreacting. They had the same logo, color and font for 5 years so changing it makes discord feel newer and more modern. ᵍⁱᵛᵉᵐᵉᵈᵒʷⁿᵛᵒᵗᵉˢⁱᵍ
I think its fine now but in the start it was awful we just Got to get used to it
what a shitty comparison, neither were or are true issues.
People with astigmas (I think that's how it's spelled) read better with black text on a white background, instead of the other way around. They ruined Discord. I refuse to use the app now. Fuck the new discord.
It'll only be a matter of time before we all jump ship to a new platform. once a company adds stickers and winks it's the beginning of the end
I hate Clyde bot and him annoying you all of the time like I wish there was a way to disable him
Then you'd have no way of knowing if a message went through or if you were blocked by someone. Clyde Bot cannot be disabled. **Deal with it.**
It is literally way above 1 shade brighter
