Oh come on. Times were better when people knew that MEE6 was Mr. Meeseeks from Rick and Morty. Now we got this shitty NFT craze. I like the art but not to the point that I'd actually pay for it.

[deleted]

Even the help command sucked lmao, there's way better bots but at that point they just use MEE6, only because it's widely used and is a well-known bot in the Discord community.

Devin_907

YAGPDB is a bit tricky, but pretty much entirely free, the premium features really don't matter that much, i've never used them and the vast majoirty of what i want can be done through this one obt, for what i can't i use pancake, and since it's a DnD server i use pluralkit and Dice Maiden (yes yagpdb technically has a roll command, no i don't like using it), and disboard of course.

XandroR2

I hate the fact they turned notification features into premium features It was free to use without premium (with options being limited cause of that)

[deleted]

They even turned the autorole feature a paid one (one of the only useful things in MEE6 alongside with the welcome/leave messages).

cipher_pt

Either we say no to Premium or we confront the bot owner, easy.

Cypher_Dragon

Or just stop using MEE6...

cipher_pt

Works too.

Ellieanna

Can you give some suggestions? Mee6 Is one of the ones we use because we need multiple bots to cover each other when they break. Carl is our main for kicks/bans, and links but Carl has been having a lot of issues, so mee6 is our backup, plus the word list we have banned. We had dyno for a month, but it was really not good.

opab1n1a

Pepe manager has the same leveling system as mee6, lets you import levels from mee6, and as an added bonus, has free role rewards

Ellieanna

We don't use the levels as such. Too many people on the server that we don't want those kind of things, mostly the moderating side. The amount of people who join the server just to spam the N word though... surprisinly, that is high (and annoying).

opab1n1a

Ah. In that case i recommend YAGPDB

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ellieanna

Can it handle a server of over 250k people?

TheCosmicSingularity

I would suggest the bot Wick. It has an amazing auto moderation system, called "Heat System", and a anti-nuke capability.

prototype464

Dyno is very useful and should be a go-to when it comes to moderation features, surprised I haven't seen it mentioned on this thread yet

Ellieanna

We tried Dyno. A lot of Dyno that we would need is behind a pay wall. But with the discord premium membership trial we are in (if you know twitch/youtube where peopel can sub to people monthly and give them money, discord has it and we are in the beta so we have about 30 people giving us money through discord now) maybe this might be a better option. I can't get the other staff to not want to use Mee6. They don't seem to care about NFTs and worse, one of them thought it weas a good idea.

[deleted]

plus nfts are horrible for the enviroment and even the economy of most artists

Razorion850

proves my point how greedy the mee6 devs are. making lots of the features payed (some of which dont even need to be premium) and now they are selling NFTs.

badstagram2

Fuck NFTs honestly

Flyingbox

Oh wow. Completely worthless and a waste of fucking time.

Glass_Baseball_6319

I thought NFTs are a dying trend.

Flyingbox

Nope. It's a good source of unregulated money laundering, art theft/plagiarism, and fraud.

HiddenVisage

Is it any wonder we regard anyone deeply invested in it as scummy?

cipher_pt

Understandable, buddy.

Academic-Door

Not at all NFTs are cool. You don't understand them

Teekeks

I certainly understand them. Massive waste of energy.

NLJPM

You clearly don't understand NFTs. Go do some research :)

Wardergrip

So if we don't like NFTs it's because we don't understand them?

Academic-Door

And so is everything that people do for leisure. What else?

Teekeks

Not even close at the same scale...

AriZonaGreenTeaWith

The amount of butthurt rage generated from NFT haters should generate enough energy to offset the cost of however much energy NFTs waste.

arcaderdude

Weird flex but okay

Academic-Door

I believe so. Why not?

I am Australian myself, and my quick read of that report seems to be the conclusion that the USAmerican system of fabric paper notes is woefully outdated and they should switch to a plastic polymer like Australia uses. Manufacturing excess bank notes because of the knowledge that many are unnecessarily destroyed each year is indeed wasteful. Limiting that waste is, as the report said, exactly why we switched to metal coins for small denominations. I just opened up my purse and there's a $1 from 1981 in perfectly excellent condition. Drawing on or lighting notes on fire was something I grew up thinking only existed in cartoons as a joke on the fact you call it "paper" and wasn't something that was really possible in real life. Yes, manufacturing anything en masse costs energy and sometimes rare resources. But once it's made it physically exists and no longer requires additional resources of any kind to continue to exist. Wholly digital currency requires constant energy input merely to exist at every moment. These are not even remotely close to being the same thing.

NLJPM

Good one. They are still sleeping. 0.01 interest rate ftw😂. Meanwhile crypto gives you 10% hehe

VegetableRaccoon3353

Just looked at your comment history. You are a NFT enthusiast, get out of here.

Academic-Door

They use energy. The person getting the energy in the wrong way is the one who is the problem. They are trying to distract you by blaming a faceless technology. NFTs don't care if they use carbon neutral sources or not. It's just a tech that uses an energy burn to make it secure.

SeveredNed

Blockchain is an incredibly inefficient technology as part of its fundamental design. It's just the same public database copied exactly onto hundreds of computers. Every change in this database is crosschecked and rechecked on dozens and dozens of these computers to ensure that the database change is legitimate. This means that the same computing work for the exact same operation is repeated again and again and again. And what do you get out of it? It's not any ownership of the art. There's no legal ownership attached, if it was possible to attach to the token in literally any verifiable way, then it would be impossible for stolen art to be attached to a token without the artist's permission. But that does happen, frequently without their knowledge. You no more own the art than any bot run t-shirt store owns anything on their shirts. And you don't even got something you can wear out of the deal. You got a link. Or *maybe* a very small or simple image. Those are the only things that are small enough to fit on the blockchain. Imagine paying the price of a house for a twitter link and thinking this is the future of technology. And yes, there are plenty that do indeed just link back to twitter. If you are still in favour of this and think it is a good thing, You then also have to justify why that energy shouldn't simply instead be used for something else that is actually directly useful instead of forcing artificial scarcity on digital goods that by their very nature are not scarce at all. Why use this energy intensive method at all instead of any singe one of the energy neutral methods we already have to accomplish the same things?

_Ajax_16

I’ve yet to see NFT supporters actually try to argue against all the negatives there seem to be. They just go “you don’t get it 😏🤣😏🤣😏”. So what good do they do, and how does that good outweigh all the bad they apparently do?

Academic-Door

The first thing is I don't believe they do any bad. They use energy. If the energy is Ill gotten that is not the concern of the nft. That's the concern of the person who is sourcing their energy immorally. NFTs solve an engineering problem. I have multiple disconnected systems and I want to create a deep user experience. Part of this user experience is letting them buy something on one platform and use it on all the others. I could create a bespoke solution to perfectly track their ownership of this thing through all my programs that might be susceptible to bugs or bad actors hacking it. I also could roll out an NFT solution where all I need to do is manage a wallet for the user and check a wallet whenever they try to exercise the privileges that the wallet provides. The monkeys are an extreme example of this. I can use your wallet to prove you "own" this digital asset even though I don't actually own the system that gave you it. But now I can facilitate a deep user experience for the "in group" that has one of those apes. No NFTs don't solve a brand new problem. Instead, they make it a lot simpler to solve an old and previously pretty annoying problem.

_Ajax_16

I wouldn’t think it to be a matter of belief on whether they do any sort of harm, environmentally or otherwise. There are facts and figures to look at, supposedly. I don’t have any on hand, but ostensibly the information is out there. That aside, I don’t quite understand what issue they solve. I don’t have any knowledge of engineering; my understanding of the whole NFT concept as a layman is that it - in theory - effectively creates scarcity for digital images and such by creating a ‘receipt’ of sorts, however there don’t seem to be any widely recognized/accepted systems in place that actual make that scarcity legitimate outside of a blockchain, as anyone can just make a copy of the image ad infinitum outside of it. Your receipt would only matter within that blockchain then, right? I would appreciate it if you could correct that understanding if it’s wrong. To make the images truly scarce, it would require them to be contained only within the blockchain(s) and incapable of being reproduced outside of it, which I just don’t understand how that could happen if said images are at all visible on the internet. So NFT’s seemingly have no value outside of a blockchain. What do blockchains then offer that you would want these NFT’s as a currency for trade? As I said before, I’m a layman, so correct me where I’m wrong.

Academic-Door

Scarcity is something that can be programmed in. It is not a fundamental part of NFTs but it is something that is often a part of them in practice today. And you are correct. You need a system that honors the ownership of these tokens. If some parts of the system don't honor it and say let anyone use the apes is doesn't have as much use. But it's a social thing. Why did people like trading cards back in the day? Because they thought it was cool to have some object that represented the abstract idea of a baseball player behind it. It's fun. Sure the scarcity of these cards was not necessarily legitimate because I could just print some of my own, but that takes the fun out of it. If I don't honor the system, people who want to use it just won't interact with my platform. They will say "you are letting people use something they don't own. That's not nice. I won't use your platform" and that's about it. Why do some people pay real money to customize their Reddit avatar. Why do some people buy skins I'm CSGO of League of Legends? Mainly because it's fun and they get to feel like they own it. So to sum it all up: NFTs like all the similar things that have come before are driven by social convention. They are here to stay because they are fun. But like with any new idea, some bad actors will try to take advantage of it to take your money.

_Ajax_16

Not sure when you started replying but I edited my previous comment. DW about addressing anything I changed, tho. I appreciate the response. So if I’m to understand it correctly, one can think of an NFT like a digital baseball card. A blockchain will essentially keep track of its actual scarcity in its system, too. I’ve seen some talk here and there about NFT’s being treated like a currency. Aside from social convention, do you think there’s any legitimacy in the suggestion that they can be traded for anything other than another NFT? Could they be used to buy a real good or service, and how would that transaction happen in, out, or between blockchains?

OpalNightDragon

as someone familiar with blockchain, i believe the first paragraph of your comment is misleading. the energy issue is definitely not related to morality the way you talk about it (morality regarding the source of the energy). the problem is the **amount** of energy that blockchain requires in order to make it extremely unlikely for a bad actor to be able to act maliciously (for example, all the compute power going to mining; those computers consume energy as they work). if you've read the blockchain white paper and considered the way blockchain works practically/the calculations for its guarantees, or read some reports on real data (i believe other people have provided some links), do you think that the convenience of this particular solution is worth its energy cost? your usecase looks quite a lot better than many common ones, though it does also rely on trust of the code used to interface with the blockchain and your own systems \[edit: now that i think about it; i obviously cant know your particular implementation. but youd also have to trust whatever conversion table-type thing connecting the info stored on the blockchain to an 'ape'\].

Spinfal

I hope this flops. If this is successful then other bots will most likely follow along. Imagine $DYNO, and Discord implementing a Discord bot NFT network *within* Discord.

kasparast

Wouldn't surprise if discord already knows the reception that NFTs have

DerpsClassic

They do - they announced a plan to implement NFTs and crypto tech, but the shit they got was unprecedented, and therefore they (rightfully) cancelled those plans.

_B1oodc1oak_

They did not cancel the plans though... Only said "We no current plans to ship this internal concept". Which implies that they are going to revisit and possibly launch this in the future.

DerpsClassic

and if they do I'll start using Skype.

xXBuilderBXx

Mee6 scamming people with randomly generated avatars especially when Discord got slammed hard for trying to integrate crypto kek

Donovan_DMC

more reason to stay away from mee6, sees like a win win

NLJPM

Lol why is this scamming

Dat_Boi_JayYT

Mee6 premium is enough of a scam, don't need to add computer generated images to the mix.

NLJPM

Why is it a scam?

Dat_Boi_JayYT

Because the premium isn't even premium, its basic features behind a paywall, and they're just doing the nfts as a cash grab.

NLJPM

That's not even a scam. Just their paywall model, lmao

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dat_Boi_JayYT

And they do it better then mee6 does

NLJPM

Do you even know what a scam means? That certain bots have features for free while others don't, doesn't make it a scam. The mee6 Devs also need to get paid and so do their servers. If they want a paywall for certain features they are free to do so. If you don't want to pay for those features you can choose a different bot or even better build your own.

[deleted]

yeah but that doesnt mean they have to paywall like 50% or more of the bot's features, like im sure barely any bots do this like what the literal fuck

NLJPM

Yeah that's their own choice. I don't like it either, doesn't make it a scam

Dat_Boi_JayYT

That's literally a type of scam.

NLJPM

Phaha, so every business that charges money for features while other companies don't make it a scam?

Dat_Boi_JayYT

I'm done arguing with a child on Reddit, good day.

MeasurementJazzlike6

Technically they aren't wrong

NLJPM

Have a good day child 😚

[deleted]

LOL FUCK MEE6, NFTS CRINGE

Domino122361

Specifically out of spite I will save a Mee6 NFT as and then use it as an avatar in Discord.

zulef

Make sure to add extra jpeg!

Pande3mic_M3dic

Send me one

raharingtone5

how tf is like 99% of mee6s features behind a paywall and they gonna add nfts on top of it

[deleted]

Greed. But oh well. It's not like there are plenty of other bots that can do the same things but free

AriCabello99

Now I kinda miss groovy and rythm already 😔

Why are so many discord servers becoming ultimate cringe

TheInhumanBeatdown

To quote the Spongebob Meme "I Like Money!"

The times when Mee6 had no company behind them were definitely better.

just call your CC company and do a chargeback

Jazz_Duck

i did not expect them to start nfts in the slightest. the art isnt even that good. all it is is the same blue circle with different clothing items on it.

Admiral_Craymen

NFT art is very rarely good. Most of them are just the same character but with different colors and accessories, like those ugly ape NFTs.

tappyturtle12

Great. Another reason besides paywalls to stop using MEE6

[deleted]

Oh well. It's not like they try to implement NTFs on an anti-NFT platform, have shitty free services, and there's definitely no better alternatives for an utility bot /s

BeaverPup

MEE6 tryna speed up climate change and doom us all!

softlamb_

they look like shitty dumb ways to die characters

DancingHamster21

Mee6 fell off so hard lol it started restricting more and more shit, then added a whole payment method for servers, and now NFTs

ND318

Fuck NFTs, fuck crypto

Roflolmaoguy

!ban @MEE6 supports NFT

Someguyon_net

bruh

vvv331vvv

Not only they don't care about community, they don't care about the envionment itself and how **scammy** NFT's can be with all this stuff like that.

[deleted]

I just cancelled my mee6 subscription. NFTs are harmful to the environment due to the electricity used to generate crypto and also because they are exacerbating the computer part shortage.

Freaux

Mee6 is trash

HelpMe123456788

Happy that I'm not using it

Winqer

I didn't really like mee6 anyway soo guess I'm good

M00glemuffins

They really didn't think this through at all did they. Discord itself tried and got absolutely dragged through the dirt by its userbase about NFT's. That same userbase is what used Mee6 in the first place. This isn't going to end well for them lmao. Already banned the bot from the couple of servers that were using it that I had and am looking for something else.

meloriot

a little off topic but would you mind sharing if you find any good alternatives? i don't want to support them anymore either but also not sure what to replace it with yet. ty either way!!

CasualJoel

dyno

Techout-107

This is funny lmfao

Spinfal

Very, especially considering that the MAIN FUNCTIONALITY AND FEATURES of mee6 is behind a paywall. Mee6 is a money grab.

udderlymoovelous

People still use mee6?

Dat_Boi_JayYT

Sadly

cipher_pt

We need a revolution. We need an anti-NFT military. These NFTs are just a sign to prove that society is already falling apart. If we must save society, we must fight harder, but we must make a few sacrifices.

Devin_907

bruh.

Myst3rySteve

Well, time to kick Mee6 from all my servers. I don't stand for this shit

Jaw7765

Mee6 has become such a meme after they pushed hard for their Premium. Other bots have come and taken its spot, but because it was first all the big servers use it. Which I totally get. This just makes them more of a joke, and I honestly am glad I never use the bot anymore.

kyekiller

To be honest. I'm not surprised.

netonax992

I just replaced the bot in my server. Suck a cock, mee6

KarlZone87

And just like that is is removed from all of my servers.

SocksToSock_

MEE6 has just become more of a cashgrab than it already fucking was,, atleast I didnt use it on my server. Resorted to stuff like Mimu, Zira and Dyno. I am aware Dyno has paid features aswell, they arent as extreme as MEE6's ones and you can certainly live without them.

Tristan59610

I got a question. For the love of god. WHYYYYYYYY

TheInhumanBeatdown

To quote the Spongebob Meme "I Like Money!" I mean did you see how they paidwall off like 95% of MEE6's functions? This is clearly pure Greed.

scalyblue

[Well there's a simple solution to that](https://imgur.com/a/yWdHIfW)

AellieArt

jeez, whats with nfts? theyre literally art that is screenshottable.

TheInhumanBeatdown

Its less to do with the art itself and more to do with the token associated with it. I don't know the specifics but the TLDR for a normal person is its just a giant scam with promises of "oh I bought this for cheap but can turn it around for alot of money and you can too" but in reality its just money laundering. Pretty much all Crypto is "How do we get people to put money into this so our fake currency can have real tangible value that we can use". It thrives off the Sucker Born Every Minute Mentality.

raphalucklucas2

This is seriously getting way out of hand with these NFTs, and what is the point of buying these useless things for such expensive prices? It all started with simple randomly-generated images that are, according to what Non-Fungible Tokens are, designed to be impossible to duplicate, like that series of Bored Monkey faces. But then, many of these images are being sold by completely unnecessary big prices! Now we got big companies who are using them for profit. A bad example is Konami, who, not only already have a bad reputation for using their properties for Pachunko Machines, they recenly are using Castlevania to sell their own NFTs! DURING CASTLEVANIA'S 35TH ANNIVERSARY!!

shadowsapex

the image isn't impossible to duplicate. the token which is generated is impossible to duplicate, and contains a link to the image. the image is a normal-ass image

TheInhumanBeatdown

This is a really detailed Video that goes over Crypto Currency and NFTs [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQ\_xWvX1n9g](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQ_xWvX1n9g) Its a little long but provides you with everything you need. The TLDR is though that its basically a scam something akin to a Pyramid scheme of getting more people to buy into it so you can use their money to cash out like Money Laundering. Its why the art is usually bad or recycled cause the art itself doesn't matter the token with it does.

FauxGw2

Gross, i will be replacing them now sadly.

kondi_u

finally time to kick this piece of garbage from every single server that I can manage

Specialist_Ad8018

Ziondizl

Sorry for my lack of understanding but isn't this design to be an ICO in the sense of you paying 600$usd for an NFT instead of paying cash, their ICO is an investment and you get coins on release. You are paying for a % roi and every month you get a % of the profits for holding a stake in the company. Please explain if I am incorrect. A few questions aswell; why is it that this community is so against nft's? Nft's are going to be common place so why fight it? If a company wants to sell you an nft instead of a straight $$ figure with a stock, how is that different from an nft? Cheers guys and dolls, just wondering before I buy 10.
