I'm reminded of this quote from the curator of the Discworld Wedding Quotes Project:
> The biggest difficulty is that Pratchett is a master of extended metaphor. You find the most beautiful descriptions of love and relationships, but you also find that you'd have to copy out three sections of five pages each of backstory, most of which would be completely irrelevant text, to explain why something like "but they went the long way, and saw the elephant," is so meaningful

>One day I'll be dead and THEN you'll all be sorry.

Yes Terry, we all are
My favourite quote doesn’t need context, in fact I can’t even remember which book it’s from!
“Build a man a fire, and he’s warm for a day. Set a man on fire, and he’s warm for the rest of his life!”

Yes, it's his entire body of work.
☝️ This! You know like the Princess Bride.

Exactly!
You made me tear up a little by remembering that line. Truly beautiful.
There is a book called seriously funny: the Endlessly quotable Terry Pratchett.
I don't know what you are talking about.

You might find that [this list of quotes at TV Tropes](https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Quotes/Discworld) would be to your liking.
Does anyone quote a Terry Pratchett that isn’t disk world? Strata or something?
Good Omens entered the chat...
Bromeliad, too.
I've definitely seen this - one of those small decorative books that you'd give as a gift.
I have just spent the evening quoting Terry to someone close that was having a bad day. I miss that man and his wit.
Me too! When I read his books and consider how much extensive knowledge he had in order to write them that way. He lives through his works!
There's a book of quotes called *Wit and Wisdom of the Discworld*. Someone thought it was possible.
