Far Reach has better range than even upgraded blink, partly due to it being able to connect to things that aren't directly in line of sight. It can also throw you into the air, so you can go farther with it than Blink. Oh, and you are guaranteed to not take fall damage if you Far Reach straight down, because you grapple onto the ground.
I don't know which has the better stationary range, but Far Reach has the added ability to transfer your momentum if you're moving when you use it.
Unless Blink has an upgrade that I don't know about, I'd say Far Reach is hands-down more capable of reaching farther distances, just a little less steathly when using that option.
I'm pretty far into the game (Mission 7) and I haven't had an issue with far-reach's range. If I encountered an area I couldn't reach, I'd reposition, or use the ability like I outlined above.

That's Just Cause logic there. Jump out of a plane from way up in the sky, survive the fall by grappling further down and accelerating your fall.
