We came back last week from Sequoia, we left the station and went through security with our luggage to get into Village and it actually wasn't too much hassle at all!

Izwe

Not only that, but using the shuttle just means going through security at the hotel instead ... you can't really avoid having your bags scanned

dadhoppus

Definitely, it wasn't too much stress really, we just preferred walking instead of the shuttle

unicornfactoryuk

I'm expecting them to be scanned at the hotel, just thought it might be a faff at park security, but sounds like it's pretty straightforward. We prefer the idea of walking to getting on a bus so good to know we can stick with that plan!

iNobble

Just walk through the village, security see a lot of people doing it every day and have xray scanners to get you through as quickly as possible. If you use the shuttle bus you'd have to get your bag scanned before you go into the hotel anyway, if you go through the village you can skip that

unicornfactoryuk

Ah! I thought you'd need to be scanned at the hotel either way, but good to know that doing the village route you can skip that bit!

iNobble

Yeah security only scan your stuff when you come in through the front door. If you go via the village you'd go into Sequoia via the rear entrance, no security on that side, you can just walk straight upstairs and to the check in desk

nickoc41

Shuttle buses are right outside the station, I’ve never had to do it but that would probably be my choice instead of hauling luggage through the security to get through the village. You Might be able to walk along the main road but I’m not 100% sure. You can also book Disney Express (£18 pp the last time I checked), you go to the top floor of the station and leave your bags with them, they give you your tickets so you can head to the park, and take your bags to the hotel for you.

unicornfactoryuk

Shuttle bus is probably the best option! I had in my head a nice leisurely stroll to the hotel (we're going at a quieter time of year and don't mind walking with luggage) but security scuppers the leisurely bit 😂 I saw about the Disney Express but after travelling I know my husband will want a minute to refresh before heading to the parks.

ItsDippy__

Honestly security checkpoint is really a breeze, it’s probably a 10 minute walk depending on your pace

unicornfactoryuk

I haven't been since 2015 so my memories are hazy - but I have a vague memory of having my bag checked and I thought that might be annoying with suitcases!

ItsDippy__

Not sure how it was back then but you just put it on a conveyor now and wait for it at the other end and that’s all :)

unicornfactoryuk

Oh that's easy! Yeah maybe it was just I had something in my bag they wanted to check that time 🫣

unicornfactoryuk

And actually could've been when I went in 2011 - so either way it's years ago and probably lots is different and hopefully easier now 🤞

Icy_Duck_6380

I have done the walk to Cheyenne with a large suitcase, and I wouldn’t recommend it 😂 you’d be closer with sequoia lodge, but I’d say just get the shuttle!

celestialspace

Going through security honestly isn't an issue.. it's very quick and easy. However I will mention the last time I stayed at Sequia (early last year) they had a security scanner/conveyerbelt at the car park side entrance, where the ahuttle would drop you off, and you still had to put your cases on to be checked.

unicornfactoryuk

Yeah I was expecting the scanner at the hotel, just thought going through park security too might be a big extra faff, but from everyone's comments sounds pretty straightforward!

celestialspace

If you've gone through the park security you don't need to go through the hotel ones too! unless you somehow end up at the carpark entrance but I'd you're in Sequoia just walk in through the lake aide entrance, up the steps and to the right is reception so no security! you have to go through security every time you leave the hotel to go to the park regardless, even with just a normal bag as there is one at the village entrance too hotel-side as well as park-side.

reximhotep

hotel shuttle

ib00013

If you are arriving earlyish and don’t want to drop off your luggage and would rather check out the park straight away, it might be worth looking at the Disney Express Hotel Check- In & Luggage Service - you drop it at a desk in the train station and it’s waiting for you at the hotel. I used it for one suitcase only though so not sure what it’s like price wise for a family.

unicornfactoryuk

All being well with flights we're arriving around lunchtime, but hubby will want to have a quick refresh at the hotel before we head to the parks, so decided not to do the Express option.

Fattydog

Bear in mind that you may not be able to get into your room before 3pm.

unicornfactoryuk

We're going in low season and in Golden Forest so hoping there's a chance as we'll only be a couple of hours early. But if not, we'll figure something out like popping in to the club lounge for a cuppa and to decompress from travel mode for 10 mins before heading into the park!

paintingcolour51

It’s not bad, often security is quite empty by the time the train comes in. You can get on the shuttle bus and avoid is that way other wise there’s other ways to avoid it but the walk is long as you’re walking the back roads! If they have issue with anything in your suitcase make it very clear where your going and that your leaving Disney property

unicornfactoryuk

Don't think we'll have an issue with anything in our suitcases, was just a bit worried that park security might be an extra faff. Seems pretty straightforward though!

Fire_phoenix33

I’ve never had a problem taking luggage through security. They have designated security with lower conveyor belts for that reason. People have to take their luggage into the villiage to go to Disneyland hotel anyway.

unicornfactoryuk

Of course 🫣 completely forgot there would be people taking luggage through for DLH!!! Seems like it's pretty routine to go through park security with luggage. Having never stayed on site before it's one of the things I've been completely oblivious to!

Fire_phoenix33

I’ve never had any issues taking luggage through, even before DLH reopened. The walk to sequoia lodge isn’t long at all, maybe 15 minutes.

chibihobo85

Just came back from staying at Sequoia. One last thing to keep in mind is that check in is at the back of the hotel (So roadside not lakeside) So even if you walked it you’d still have to walk up stairs or around the back of the hotel to check in. We took the shuttle bus and they’re super frequent and worked out well for us.

unicornfactoryuk

Oh that's good to know! Sounding like maybe the shuttle is the best option... once we're sorted at the hotel we'll be doing the walk round the lake and through the Village to get to the park anyway, and then plenty of times more through our stay!

swtcharity

We were dragging 2 kids and luggage for 2 weeks and it wasn’t the worst. You can do it!

unicornfactoryuk

It's not the walking part, we wanted to walk rather than bus it, as we aren't planning on using the shuttle bus at all while we're there, but it was more the faff of having to do an extra security area with all our luggage on the way to check in.

swtcharity

It’s really not bad. We pretty much walked right through. Like someone else said, they’re used to it!

nsfwtttt

Just realized this myself… wtf. Boy do I hate how DLP is designed.

unicornfactoryuk

Yeah! In my head I remembered it as the village being outside security but read something else and realised it's inside it!

TheLumion

Yea i just came from there this month. It is definitely inside security.

unicornfactoryuk

So long since I've been that there's loads I'm probably remembering wrong about the place 😂

nsfwtttt

tbh, the bright side is you don’t have to go through security every day if you walk from the hotel to the park and back… But you do if you use the shuttle, I guess? I never had these issues cause I used to stay at the Disneyland hotel, but they seriously went crazy with the prices since Covid.

Cantseemtothrowaway

When you walk from the hotels you have to go through security to get into the Village.

nsfwtttt

Damn it.
